- Dutch mechanised infantry meet Syrian Republican Guard in an urban area.
This is a modified version of the Al Hawl scenario from the base game. You can download it here: www.dropbox.co.... To play, paste the file into Shock Force 2/Game Files/Scenarios. Best played H2H or Blue vs AI. There is no AI plan for Blue, so Red vs AI isn't recommended.
The footage of the A10 is from ARMA 3 with the RHS mods, CM doesn't draw any aircraft.
You can pick up the demo for CMSF2 here: community.battl...
and can find details and info on the base game and its modules here: www.battlefron...
This is with the excellent HQS Sound Mod, BabaricCo's FXShine shader, Vin's Unit Icons and a pile of Kieme's HD terrain and building textures for CMSF1, but otherwise unmodded.
In Battlefront's own words:
"Combat Mission Shock Force 2 finally updates the ground breaking Shock Force 1 game setting to the current Game Engine 4 environment. Due to massive changes over the last 10 years of Combat Mission development the updating and upgrading of the original content to current standards was no small task. Most of the 3D models had to be rebuilt, reskinned, and reintegrated into brand new TO&E coding. All original scenarios and campaign games had to be checked out, tweaked, and generally improved so they retained the balance and excitement of the originals. Fans of the original game will find that this is much, much more than a new coat of paint."
"Take command of US Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCT) and Heavy Brigade Combat Teams (HBCT) to fight against Syrian Army Infantry, Mechanized and Armored units in an arid setting. Experience the full range of modern threats to conventional military forces, including irregular combat forces, terrorists, spies, suicide bombers, IED's and other deadly tools employed in the asymmetric warfare of the modern day. Play the Task Force Thunder campaign, more than a dozen carefully crafted battles, or unlimited Quick Battles."

spike gunner here, The gill trajectory in this game is FOBAR. it should make a much higher lofted approach in a similar fashion to the jav. It also has a 'man in the loop' capability which enables you to shoot behind cover and then steer the missile towards the target but that's probably impossible to simulate in game
I did wonder why the Gill was firing in such a weird way, but I put it down to the pixeltruppen using a low-trajectory more direct firing mode because they were engaging at short range.
Sorry for the question but what tipe of alfabet Is the One that you have in your name?

That A-10 had an incredibly depressing AT loadout.
It would be a little unbalanced to have the A10 carrying enough ordnance to win the battle on its own ;) In the briefing I think I rationalised it by saying it had already completed one mission and had been vectored in to the Dutch to expend its remaining payload.
@@usuallyhapless9481 Yeah I understand why, I'm just an A-10 master race kinda guy. #BRRRT4LIFE

i just love the dutch's desert camo. it looks much better than us' ACU digital. and it has the golf war feeling
Looks like 3-color DCU, funny since their woodland is DPM.
Nice one, thanks for doing it! Didn't knew the CAS A/C could be seen.
Sorry to disappoint, but it can't be seen. CM never renders any aircraft. I cheated and used ARMA because it would have been dull to look at an empty sky. I could have chroma keyed one in, but that's a lot of effort to get right.
@@usuallyhapless9481 Ha ha, that was convincing! Good editing then ;) PS: My bad, I didn't read the description beforehand.
Another great AAR man!
Cheers man! Still waiting for it all to go wrong in our current game :P
Usually Hapless you mean it isn’t going wrong yet? Shiiiiiii....
@@Seshins To be fair, I'm making it up as I go along. The plan can't fail if there is no plan, right?
Usually Hapless haha. It’s such a bizarre map too. I think my pixeltruppen are figuring out that I’m actually from the logistics Corp and have no idea what I’m doing in combat command.
This is the first time in my life I've ever heard anyone call an A-10 "lightly armed."
The CV-90. If picatiny were a vehicle
Great video, the ATGM firing out of the building though irritated me.
The Gill has a soft launch, so you can fire it indoors and not suffer too much (the AT team gets suppressed by the backblast though).
@@usuallyhapless9481 thank you, i just remembered that in CM you mostly couldn't fire at-weapons out of buildings, great to see they model that now. But I was also referring to the tripod and how all that was set up. Considering that (most) atgms climb first, you absolutely positively want to make sure you have the necessary space. PzFst 3 for example extends fins that can then hit the window frame...
But I am not familiar with this system, enjoy producing more
@@IC-me1yi They changed that for most Infantry AT weapons (like Panzerschreck or Bazooka) in the later versions of the game because it was done in RL too. In case of the Gil, like the Javelin, the weapon is actually designed to be fired from buildings without too much discomfort.
For inside buildings they should have a deploy time. What irritates me that infantry can't modify building to defend it. Shifting roof-tiles is all it takes to make an OP or knocking out bricks is what a sniper does to keyhole his target.
I tried the base scenario with the Syrians and came off with a draw.
Welcome to combat mission chalk force 2
It is the same map for the US Army in El Hawl that was a miss match. Javelins in every Stryker and the US have crack troops on top of that an FO with an F16. Try this one instead.
Hap, do you get the random crash to desktop after about a half hour of playing that has been attributed to shaders?
Nope. Haven't had that one. CM is pretty stable for me, although big maps with lots or trees or buildings knock the frames down a fair bit.
I can mirror Haps reply. I had the odd issue when my PC was under powered but a new GPU solved that and I haven’t crashed ever.
@@Seshins yeah that's the thing, i'm running a 1080 my pc is only 2 years old i7 7799k 32 GB DDR4, about 30 minutes in and bam, the game crashed with shaders enabled.

purpheart23 hmm that’s frustrating mate. I assume drivers are all up to date? Running as admin ( though highly doubtful that’d be a cause for a crash) does it happen in any battle type or size?
hey man I had the same thing a few months ago with a new build. What worked for me was turn shaders off and also have your graphics turned down to "balanced". I haven't had any crashes since. Hope you get it sorted as it was a very frustrating problem.
Hap could you maybe provide your settings and such on how you get combat mission to run so well?
Good CPU, quite literally all there is to it. I recently upgraded my graphics card for one more than twice as powerful and I saw 0% gain.
yes its CPU intensive, but beware that it uses only 1 core at a time. the better each individual core performs on your CPU the better, number of cores doesnt matter
Brohammer, what are your specs?
CM is a little tricky to get smooth but it's not especially graphics intensive.
Hey Hapless, one thing more.. could you please do House cleaning scenario? I'm currently trying to complete it with reasonable losses on WeGo and its a pain in the ass to say the least. On realtime i could probably do it easy enough, but i'm kind of practicing WeGo for multiplayer right now and just wanted to see turn by turn how would experienced player complete it. My last run of this mission ended on my strikers running out of 43mm grenades leaving me with only one 50 cal striker that had ammunition left. After that its game over because pushing with infantry in cqb while enemy has 2-3x as many infantry in reserve on the back yard is a death wish
MOUT is hard. House Cleaning could be an interesting one :)
@@usuallyhapless9481 i'll be waiting)
@@usuallyhapless9481 just an update. finally done it with 4 dead 8 wounded, but had to replay several turns. still would be interesting to see how you approach it :)
I do house cleaning every week, isn't that difficult tbh. Make sure you dust first and then vacume :P
Wanna do a multiplayer game sometime ?
how could era blocks stop the tandem warhead of the gill?
Does the game specify which Dutch Pantserinfanterie Regiment? 44 RIJWF or 45 RIOG?
17 GFPI
How do you zoom in on your a10 like that?! When ever i call air support i never actually see them. Can you zoom in on helicopter.
Thank you for all your informative videos.
Sadly that's actually added in post (it's from ARMA 3). Sorry!
is this a mod or official content?
The reason i ask, is because the Dutch vehicles still use woodland camo and the infantry carries US weapons.
Pretty sad if you ask me, or is there a way to change textures somehow?
However, very nice video!
(And sorry for the nagging, i am Dutch myself and find it a bit of a disappointment sadly.)
Its official content representing the Dutch military in 2008, so it might not be quite the same as today.
They are quite visually similar to the US though- Dutch pixeltruppen wear old US tricolour camo and carry C7/C8s, which look a lot like M4s/M16s, Minimis (same as the US M249 SAW) and the FN Mag (the M240 in US service). The US definitely don't have Panzerfaust 3s and AWSMFs though. There's a list of everything Dutch in the game here: www.battlefront.com/shock-force-2/cmsf2-nato-module/?tab=toe
In the plot for the game the Dutch are operating in the northern part of Syria which can get quite green, which I guess is why they still have woodland camo (Canadian, German and some USMC vehicles are also green), but I'm sure someone will mod the textures to paint them sand coloured at some point.
Glad you enjoyed it man!
Usually Hapless Ah I see, So Maybe it represents a hastily assembled task force, So it does not have the desert camo yet.
Still a shame though, would be much more immersive with desert camo on the vehicles ☺️
And about the Weapons, you are right, I thought They were carrying m16’s, the c7’s do look a like, and it all makes sense when it plays in 2008.
Thanks for the response!
-And keep up pumping out that quality content!
@@TheSaintArmando Having all your vehicles repainted is quite a task - you could see even US CVs in Iraq and Afghanistan with parts or completely in Woodland throughout the entire campaign. So no need to lament, this is actually quite realistic for a Task Force deployed on short notice - and on top of that, as Hap already pointed out, the north and the shore of Syria are quite lush, so commanders would happily pass on repainting if it is not too urgently needed.
@@dasmorbo3508 yes we already came to this conclusion in the comment above 9 months ago 😊
@@TheSaintArmando Hmmm, now that I look at it again: you might be right. :P Note to me: don't comment tired and slightly drunk....
what is the difficulty setting?
Its on Elite. The difficulty only influences how much information you get, how fast units share spotting and how long it takes to call in support. The AI, damage, spotting etc is the same no matter what the difficulty is.
