Gotta love the Crimson Fists. They're the original marines, back in the days of Rogue Trader these were the posterboys. They're also a great way to paint sons of Dorn without dealing with yellow or declaring a crusade every 30 minutes.
Pedro kantor is a chad and a humanitarian, the crimson fists are one of the longest serving chapters and are basically addicted to last stands, they dont care the odds they will fight to the absolute last man, but also are thinking and (relatively) feeling marines. Very relatable and plus how many chapters have actual hispanic representation in it? I like em a lot
Oh, look, ragebait. How quaint! XD Also, there are these things called books. I recommend 5 edition SM codex and campaign pdf called "Rynn's world" for those interested in Crimson FIsts.
I've loved the Crimson Fists ever since my first issue of White Dwarf, which I did a review of on my channel for my 15th Hobby-versary, and it's grown ever since. I must admit I think the Crimson Fists were better under the direct control of THE Crimson Fist, Alexis Pollux. Captain of the 405th company of the Imperial Fists and a master of void warfare. I've even painted his heresy model in Crimson Fists' colours and used to field him as a Chapter Master with Stormshield, Power Fist, and Combi-Melta. My love for them will never die, no matter how cool other chapters may be.
Working for the inquisition is definitely shameful, but from my reading of the heresy books, Dorn would be much more appalled by the whole chapter who _forgot that the emperor wasn't a god and all worship him_ 😉 Black Templars do look sick, though, I have to admit. Thanks for the video, this is a great scheme. Love how that blue came out.
Yeah, I'd go with the Crimson Fists just being good sons of Dorn and following orders rather than being lackeys to the Inquisition (that's the Minotaurs and the....Red Talons?). Also, aren't the CF secularists...unlike the heretical Black Templars.
Heresy! The Inquisition will be coming for you! The Crimson Fists were on the original Rogue Trader cover, they were THE original space marine chapter. They deserve respect for making 40k what it is today. I also happen to have an army of them and have been playing 40k since Rogue Trader, so they hold a special place in my heart.
I love the Crimson Fists. The dark blue is a very appealing colour with the red as contrast, and the stubborn determination to keep fighting against overwhelming odds is a story trope that does it for me every time. As a teenager my space marine army were Blood Angels, but I painted up a single tactical marine - one of the 2nd edition starter set statue marines - as a Crimson Fist and gave it to a step-nephew as a Christmas present one year, which sparked years of gaming and painting interest for him. One of the projects I have in the back of my mind to pursue is a Crimson Fists army, probably mainly with Horus Heresy miniatures. But we'll see. I'm enjoying Orks mostly at the moment.
The Chapter that always survives no matter the odds, respected by all including Girly man, the Inquistion and the Eldar and seen as important. More human and compassionate to those weaker than them, almost on a level with Salamanders and Lamenters. Disciplined and cool paint scheme, the ORIGINAL poster boys of the Space Marines, without them on the cover Rogue Trader might not have hit with such a bang and 40k (and therefore GW) may not be such a thing! Poster boys of 3rd edition codex too till the Dark times, when Ultramarines somehow became the poster boys instead (look mum I'm blue, it's even in my name and I'm super good at organising, I'm so exciting)!
Never considered doing Crimson Fists before, but that simple paint scheme is making me consider it. I don't know if that counts as success or fail on your part. Regarding transfers you can order transfer sheets (for inkjet or laser printer) and print your own decals. The only downside is most printers can't print white. Just paint some white behind the area you want to apply the transfer.
I like that they are sons of Dorn that don't have the stigma of being psychotic crusaders while also not having to paint yellow. I like building terrain, and I like the colour blue so Imperial fists seem like the logical choice.
Fastest way I've found to get the CF blue armor done, Leviadon Blue, drybrush Blue Horror, then wash it with Drakenhof Nightshade, after that, fill in the details. Saves a ton of time batch painting lol
idk man, they got a named character named Pedro and there is something that I just love about a space marine with a normal everyday kind of name. I'd vote for him if he ran for something!
I may stand corrected but its normally just one red fist on the right side as you look at the nodel, left fist of the model itself. But as you've done both fists he would indeed be a vet, squad leader most likely. I forget the tale now but the red fist i think is meant to represent blood of someone that they wash their hands in once they become full battle brothers. Crinson fists hold a special place in my hibby journey as they were the very first image i saw of the 40k universe. When i got rouge trader at a boot sale for £3 as a 8/9 year old. It captivated me and ive been hooked on the hobby ever since...
My favourite chapter is still the Marines Malevolent (loyalists but utter bastards, one of their captains killed a sister of battle for missing a chord or two in the emperors hymn). Just always found information there is on them very fun and different, kind of like a vague mirror of corruption of the imperium of man and the Emperor's original wishes for mankind (and no not corruption like chaos). Do like their armour colours as well, black with sandy yellow parts.
My only arguments are Pedro Cantor is awsome, he made sure a mother and her children got to safety. Also the greatest tank ever whose machine spirit woke up and began destroying orks until it was destroyed but Pedro managed to recover it and had it rebuilt. That and the Inquisition hates anyone who looks in their general direction of the galaxy lol Great video as always Andy, maybe the Mantis Warriors can make an appearance when you're able
My first Space Marine love. Superb colour scheme, excellent for a beginner. Pedro Kantor is a boss! And then I read Rynn's world. I just couldn't look at them the same way. The proud sons of Dorn, defeated by themselves :( So I went traitor, and started on Dark Angels ;) Love your paint job here, and really enjoy your calm and funny delivery
I read in a very old white dwarf that when the orks managed to surround some of the surviving fist's they were aided by a ghost army of space marines, The legion of the damned and because of that aid they were able to clear out the orks that trapped them in a culvert.
Can I be an absolute nightmare and add in another request? Any chance of adding in an Angle of Absolution tutorial? I'm considering doing them as my next army instead of normal Dark Angles
Crimson fists player here While many theories have been posited regarding the destruction of the Arx Tyranus, most fans believe that it was simply a malfunction, or WAAAGH! shenanigans As for why they're so beloved? We'll, my best guess is that that they occupy the bizarre niche between "mainstream chapters" and chapters nobody cares about, while also being easy to build and paint In a sense, it's all the advantages of building Ultramarines, with the only downside being that they're kinda boring when you compare them to chapters with more support TLDR: they're an easy army to put on the table, with great lore to read, and our fellow sons of Dorn would do well to remember that our chapter never was wiped out, nor did we butcher Custodes😂
I got the Warhammer 40k 25 years model that is a Crimson Fist leader and baner. I want too paint it upp. But i got litle coold feet and a lot of back log haha. I want too give it my time =) Thanks fore the tips on how i can do some of the painting =)
Thanks for sharing. There are quite a number SM chapters with interesting back stories. Others, weird as well. I don't like the paint scheme for the Crimson Fist, but I do like the Soul Drinkers' scheme.
Like the deep blue on this one but yeah probably wouldn't commit myself. Now Lamenters on the other hand if there was an updated scheme drop on this channel would be 🔥🔥
Oy! As a gun carrying member of the kult of speed in particular and the orks in general, I agree that the crimson fists are proper bad unz that need a good krumpin'!
I like to think that every short coming they had was because of an inquisitor that they tried to ruin because he blew up a planet after all forms of chaos where removed
Great video and painting as always! But yeah, honestly, I'd never thought too much about some of the inconsistencies in the background of the Crimson Fists. Interesting, so, incompetent AND treacherous... they were never on my 'need to paint these' list, but are now on my 'never need to paint this' list 🤣
at first, i wanted to play Imperial fist, but yellow is hard (started at 5th edition, yellow was horrible), black templar were not my type of gameplay, and i wanted to play some Dorn chapter (cause i really like Dorn) so i looked for successor chapter and found CF, i love blue and it was a truly good start for me as beginner. So be it ^^ Now i've got 2 more SM army (DA, BT) and i probably will love CF till the end ^^ But yes, sometime lore is lore XD
Hey mate, nice job! I’m currently doing bretonnians for tow and want to paint them like knights Templar. Do you have any examples of how to best achieve so much white on the horses etc.
Imperial Fists are the old fashioned Great Crusade forces, treasuring the values that made them Terra's Praetorians. Black Templars are the reaction to the Horus Heresy the unstinting rage that resulted from the great betrayal Crimson Fists are an aspirational chapter, not building fortresses or avenging the betrayal, but instead building a better Imperium.
Just goes to show you how fashion affects even Warhammer. A few years ago, the Crimson Fists were really popular, and then they vanished like they were hit with a bomb...the Imperial Fists were nowhere to be seen for years, mainly because painting Yellow was a pain, and now they are everywhere...I used to have to freehand the insignia onto my lovely Raptors, and now they are the flavour of the month, even with a decal...I wonder if the Crimson Fists will make a reassurance...
Just a word of advice, the "wiki" is a more embellished read, but it is much more unreliable than the lexicanum. Kind of two different standards there. Lexicanum tends to be much more well cited and kept to what is trackable whereas youll run across a lot of embellishment on the wiki that isnt often cited and sometimes is flat out wrong. I enjoy the wiki myself but its an important distinction. as far as the chapter, im actually on the opposite side of you, i like the imperial fists, but black templars are one of my least favorite chapters and the crimson fists i think are really neat xD (for background im a avid space wolves fan and loyal Son of Russ, so you can dismiss be as a savage :P )
Given your disdain for the Crimson Fists, how about making some objective markers, with Pedro's boys cowering on them, waiting to be rescued by your other Space Marines? 😄👍 I've got a soft spot for the Crimson Fists, ever since reading "Battle at the Farm" in my brand-new copy of the Rogue Trader rules book back in 1987.
Dude, Crimson Fists are one of my favorite Space Marine Chapters. You don't like them that's fine, but ya don't have to be so harsh on them for continuing to fight and nor giving up.
Dunno if this is rage bait or not but you should get more into their lore. Pedro Kantor is great and so is his chapter really recommend reading Rynn's world.
They do look cool, however that’s because these thin blooded lackeys of the corpse god have stolen the eighth legions colours lol. In all seriousness though you have done a great job on him. And although you wouldn’t want to do an army of may of these guys even allied detachments or kill teams, you can still gather them all together in a “Warhammer world” style dispaly case of all the many chapters of your own.
If we go back to the source (cover of Rogue Trader) most of them have only the left hand. One guy at the bottom has his right hand crimsoned, but we can't see his left hand. That recent MTO of the Rogue Trader book was one of the best WH40K purchases I've made since I bought the original one back in the 80's. Which I still have, but it kind of fell apart, so it's packed away somewhere. Here's hoping they are going to do the Realms of Chaos books sometime soon.
No like button? I'm not disliking this video just because someone roasted the Crimson fists. I hear they do a good job of roasting themselves anyway. Over half a chapter burnt to a cinder is a hard act to follow. 🤣
Paint list has been added!
Gotta love the Crimson Fists. They're the original marines, back in the days of Rogue Trader these were the posterboys. They're also a great way to paint sons of Dorn without dealing with yellow or declaring a crusade every 30 minutes.
Hahahah fair.
How very dare you disrespect the OG space marines of the 90's! 🤣
Babahhaha
80s!
the book Rynns world is what made me fall in love with the crimson fists. they have so much character and are actually pretty stand up guys
Apart from their cool scheme, I am convinced that Crimson Fists are the hispanics of the Space Marine chapters.
How quaint! XD

This was my first army back in 2004,saving my paper round money for new models each week.
At 34 years old, I can't wait to start again.
I can't believe you don't like the crimson fists 😮 to each thair own 😊
Ye it’s been a long feud.

Carful now.
The missile misfired from within the monastery which triggered the other munitions. The Crimson Fists are as kind as the Salamanders.
Heresy! The Inquisition will be coming for you! The Crimson Fists were on the original Rogue Trader cover, they were THE original space marine chapter. That cover of rogue trader makes them have a special place in my heart
Yeah that’s fair
idk man, they got a named character named Pedro and there is something that I just love about a space marine with a normal everyday kind of name. I'd vote for him if he ran for something!

@@mikespaintedminis5100 Especially if he is played by Pedro Pascal.

Pedro Kantor & Cortez are 2 of the most BADASS Marines in the Imperium 🤙
I may stand corrected but its normally just one red fist on the right side as you look at the nodel, left fist of the model itself.

The Crimson Fists have endured many losses and persevered. They will endure your disdain as well.
Hahaha if they don’t blow themselves again 😄

This was incredibly entertaining, the dialogue was a great balance or lore, personal opinion and humour 😂

Noooooo don't come at Pedro and my boys! No all good great video as usual.
“Shit happens”😅 but they came back. Nothing wrong with the sons of Alexis Polux!

The model looks great! I have not read the lore so I cannot comment on it but, thanks for sharing this tutorial.
The only thing that bothers me about my Crimson Fists is that people just assume I have dark Ultramarines. D:
Hahahah
Funny that imperial Fists make Ultramarines look exciting

Bizzare maybe but they are on the cover of 2nd edition ruleset in an epic mural

You should paint up a Mantis Warriors marine.
okay that terrain piece in the top right corner looks great!
That old Skullvane Manse is cool.

They got you! Now you need to do Soul Drinkers to tie up the first successors :p
Im sure Polux is calling you a "lil Bollox!"

Two words: Captain Cortez
Chapter master Pedro Cantor
"You've lost your arm Cortez! By the emperor's will you're lucky you didn't lose your life" "nah I didn't lose it it's over there!" 😂
Hahaha he is a badass.
Looks great! Would love to see your take on the Dark Angels 👍
Check the channel, lots of dark angels there already!
Great vid! I would love to see your take on the Wolfspear, one of the only confirmed Space Wolves successors!
I can add them to the list.
Wouldn’t be easy take the Imperial Fist sculpted shoulder pad and paint it red?
Well…I didn’t think of that 😂
@@MediocreHobbies btw, still have that decal sheet? Need something fancy for my UM flyers and I can’t find anyone selling that decal sheet alone

Got you pal.
Hope your well bro , once again another great video ❤👏🔥
Thank you 🙌
which box have the transfer sheet??
Looks awesome! With all that shade you're throwing, you might be getting a call from the inquisition ;)
Haha maybe.
Ooo Scythes of the Emperor you say? 🤔 Another chapter who were almost wiped out 😮
Dorn would be disappointed in you for your disloyalty to his noble sons.
😂😂
Fellow Dornite here with Executioners
Lol the trolling is top notch!
I really like the helmets in your background. Especially the Boba Fett one 😁👍
Hahah cheers pal.
Love these colors.
Yeah they do look well together!
Brilliant video Andy, Scythes of the emperor next 👍🏻
Great suggestion!
that looks so cool the painting guide.
Thanks man
Harbingers would be cool to see, silly chapter with silly lore but the colour scheme looks quite nice imo, never seen anyone use them though.
I shall have a look.
the sons of dorn seem like quite the dysfunctional family!
They are lol
Looks good mate
Thanks 👍
Can you do dark angels
It's freaking hilarious hearing a black Templar fan trash talk any space Marine chapter when it comes to codes of ethics.
How dare you. My crusading boys can do no wrong.
Pretty sure the black sheep of the fists are the exorcist lol
Hahaha
Dude, Crimson Fists are one of my favorite Space Marine Chapters. You don't like them that's fine, but ya don't have to be so harsh on them for continuing to fight and nor giving up.
This wasn’t me being harsh 😂
I always thought it was silly how they blew up their own fortress monastery, made them seem like the one incompetent chapter.
Dunno if this is rage bait or not but you should get more into their lore. Pedro Kantor is great and so is his chapter really recommend reading Rynn's world.
Na I’m just playing around. I’ve read all there books. Pedro is cool enough. Even if he did need saving by the eldar.
Red Scorpions get my vote.
I shall get to them
For sure.
Pedro Kantor will not be pleased lol! Ta Andy
It’s funny bc I’ve always thought the Black Templar’s are lame.
“Oh we’re just always on crusade, so the rules don’t apply to us”
Marines Malevolent please
They do look cool, however that’s because these thin blooded lackeys of the corpse god have stolen the eighth legions colours lol.
In all seriousness though you have done a great job on him. And although you wouldn’t want to do an army of may of these guys even allied detachments or kill teams, you can still gather them all together in a “Warhammer world” style dispaly case of all the many chapters of your own.
Are both hands supposed to be red, or is it only the left?
Ye hard to say so many examples had one hand and so many had two. Before looking into it I thought it was both so I’m going with that.
Basic troops have one red tie, veteran and above have two red fists
If we go back to the source (cover of Rogue Trader) most of them have only the left hand. One guy at the bottom has his right hand crimsoned, but we can't see his left hand.
That recent MTO of the Rogue Trader book was one of the best WH40K purchases I've made since I bought the original one back in the 80's.

Two red fists denotes members of the 1st company.
crimson fists have been around longer than imperial fists and black templars
Ye ye you think in all that time they would have gotten good.
No like button? I'm not disliking this video just because someone roasted the Crimson fists. I hear they do a good job of roasting themselves anyway. Over half a chapter burnt to a cinder is a hard act to follow. 🤣
Mortifactors next!
Sold choice.
Legion of the Damned
Waiting for plastic once for that.
Being nothing but Yellow bellied Imperial fists in dark blue armour is a good enough reason to dislike them for me. IRON WITHIN! IRON WITHOUT!
LAMENTERS PLEASE!!!
