That moment made me tear up. Such a human moment from one of the greatest marines in all of history. Really nailed the “hope rising from the grimdark” that is my favorite part of warhammer
I remember that, in an older Space Marine Codex, it was told, that it wasn't imperial reinforcements, but Craft World Eldar that stopped the Waaagh! on Rynn's world, because of some prophecy that saving them will help the Aeldari or something, but I guess that had been retconned.
SM codex, 4th edition. I had in hand in this moment, and you are correct, while of course Major is correct too. They where saved by a small horde of Orks by some Eldars, while they where purging on the mountains of Rynn, and after being saved by the space elves, they were (supposedly) able to defeat the orks. So Pedro could rebuild his Chapter, only to be destroyed by demons and mega-saved by Ultraberries and GrandadSmurf.

Let’s be honest, the Crimson Fist were peoples first introduction to 40k and Astartes in general by gracing the cover of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, also the first box set of plastic marines were cast in a pseudo navy blue with the CF on the cover of the box….the example scenario was The CF lead by Pedro Cantor against Throgg Bullneck and his ork raiders (which was also available, but in cast pewter)….just a bit of info from an old guy that remembers 40k when it was first advertised in the US in Dragon magazine
The Crimson Fists were actually because of an Imperial Fist named Kye, who in defiance of Dorn bit open his hand to make it bleed. It was some sort of gang thing from his world. Dorn respected his defiance, and that Kye was basically his unofficial bodyguard. It's all in the book Praetorian of Dorn. Kye would have been chapter master, but he died, so Dorn made the Crimson Fists be the shield, to the Black Templars sword. If you want another good book, Battle for Rynn's World is the one to go to for Crimson Fists.
If I recall correctly, the Crimson Fists were the first space marine 'chapter' GW did. All the earliest space marine artwork is of them. So... technically, in a way, you could say the Ultrabois copied them, just less interesting with no excuse.
The Crimson Fists are as vanilla poster boys as the smurfs, only more likeable and less glory hounds. And they never had the misfortune of having had Matt Ward as their number 1 fan.
7:30 My head cannon for explaining this is the Warboss Snagrod sent in ork kommandos so that the Crimson Fist's defense weapons would target their own ships, leaving them open for an attack. Hard to believe? Well, Warboss Snagrod was known for using ork kommandos before invading an imperial world, for example killing off the astropaths on a world so they can't call for help. Warboss Snagrod was a really kunning ork. That's my reasoning for this random event happening.
It always bugged me that Astartes chapters only have 1,000 marines. Just like Rinn's world, a tragic accident or well placed enemy mega weapon would obliterate a large amount of them. 1,000 would be okay for assassins, solo military advisor dudes or spec ops, but not for frontline soldiers. Again, for me, this is another situation whereby it's best to multiply the numbers by 10 at least. Even 30k legions seem too small considering the scope of Big E's ambition and the crazy weaponry/forces arrayed against them.
the minimum size of the legions of space marines in the great crusade was 100,000, except for the thousand sons and the emperor's children, I think the ultramarines had 740,000 legionnaires
Tbf it's not like Astartes are expected to hold the front line at all times, they are used more as a elite strike force to take down specific targets or positions, while assassins are also good at this you can't really send 50 assassins to kill 1000 orks.

I recall reading a bit about the Crimson Fist trek across the continent. Basically at one point they picked up a civilian woman along the way who was carrying a child, she went with them but the Chapter Master explained that they can't slow their pace for her. The woman accepted and kept pace with the Space marines for a considerable distance (can't remember how long but I think around the halfway point) before collapsing from exhaustion unable to keep up. Only for the Chapter went up to her and said something along the lines of "You carried this child all this way, it is time someone did the same for you." and proceeded to carry the woman and baby the rest of the way. That is something I always love to see, the nobility of the various characters that shines through the darkness.
Rynns World is a great book. I grabbed the Omnibus and looking forward to reading it. They're not my Templars but it is refreshing to read about a Chapter that cares about its People beyond using them as cannon fodder.
@@Slenkamure you pretty much already said why. They have a cool Founder in Sigi and while acting like the World Eaters aren't tied to the garbage that is Angron. Someone on here posted that the Templars represent Dorns Rage and some like the Crimson Fists represent his Humanity.
PLEASE do Angels Resplendent/Penitent. They are incredibly fascinating Blood Angels successor chapter which has probably one of the most chilling and unsettling developments in the setting. They are part of Dark Coil, series by Peter Fehervari which I can safely say is the darkest side of 40k. And Dark Coil has some other great things like Arkhan Confederates or Last Candle Sororitas.
it's cool to see the old RT chapters are still around and kicking. sure, these guys aren't as popular as the ultramarines. but it is neet to see that they still have some current day lore . and that updated coverart looks pretty cool as well.
Id be hard pressed to think of any other chapter that could seize 84 worlds for only 872 brothers. Even looking at the great crusade, hundreds if not thousands of battle brothers were lost in each expedition, and few expeditions we know about have seized more than 50 recorded worlds.
my main army has been the crimson fists since the very early 90's ( the front cover artwork of the rogue trader rulebook may have been a strong influence lol ). its always good to see more people take an intrest in pedro and the lads !
Best moment in 40k lore Pedro picks up the mother that has given it her all to keep up with the Crimson Fists while carrying two kids and he tells his warriors to pick the other survivors and that they are made to protect the people of the imperium!!! He’s a mix of Vulkan and Russ, caring about the people but going full berserker when fighting the warboss
I really like the crimson fists. Behind the Lamenters and Salamanders they are one of my favorite chapters. The humanity they show is awesome and leads to some badass moments. One of my favorite moments is when Pedro literally carries a group of civilians despite being under constant ork attack. However he also is constantly torn between helping them or doing the smart move and leaving them behind so the marines can stay ahead of the orks. It is really interesting.
This is by far my most favorite part of space marine faction. If there ever is a triple-A tv show in 40k universe they would be the one to star in it. I think telling a story from 40k universe from their perspective would confuse average viewers the least.
Bloody hell, glad you had a video on the Crimson Fists. I was painting World Eaters with an old class mate. And he told me that he collected Crimson Fists back then!
When Pedro Cantor picked up that mother who was carrying her child, trying to keep up with space marines in power armor, made them my second favorite chapter. my first being Space Mongolians. I mean Talskars.
Majorkill i loved your crimson fists vedio i think you should do another video on other famous chapters such as the raptors, the howling griffons, the mentors, the novamarines and many more
The Soul Drinkers weren't an Imperial Fists successors, they're implied to be the descendants of the lost Legion that was specifically implied to have been destroyed by The Space Wolves for the reason of genetic defects in their Primarch (again this is all implication based on the Horus Heresy Novels and even then there are canon conflicts about the founding date for the Soul Drinkers). The new Soul Drinkers Primaris chapter specifically uses gene-seed from Rogal Dorn so it's pretty clear that this chapter is more or less a tribute to the OG lost legion...
At the very least I'd say they're adopted sons of Dorn. They bleed with his true sons during the activation of the Last Wall Protocol, they're kin alright.
the "bow to me" at the end always makes me jump scare. i would be a terrible SM but apparently i have all the requirements of a good, living, guardsman.
Immediately fell in love with these guys when a friend who got me into Warhammer told me about them, and boy do I wish they were the popular poster boys like Ultramarines
The fists were the very first space marines back in 1e rogue trader. This was back when space marines were just regular dudes in power armor. That artwork on the cover of that book was so iconic that they remade it in almost every detail as seen in 7:33
Remember that the Primaris Captain in Gravis Armor is now available for Pedro Conversions in the tabletop. Power fists and storm bolters included in the kit.
Honestly, I find the Crimson Fists getting fucked over by a stray nuke to be something we need more of. It’s a very grimdark moment, where one of the most heroic and renowned chapters is crippled by bad luck, but still manages to pull out a victory. Unlike those damn copycat ultramarines who just kinda win everytime
>with billions of khornites Don't remember which one it was, but wasn't there a battle/crusade which took less than that in dead guardsmen that you often brought up?
I hope we can get more crimson fist novels and maybe we will get a fucking updated pedro kantor mini (also the man who read rynns world for the audio book, and his techmarine voice is just amazing)
Rogal Dawn had two types of kids. Black Templars: we are 10 times the size of every chapter and 10 times effective our numbers are cast allowing for swift killing. Crimsons fists: we have barely any numbers but are still as effective a chapter with 10 times our numbers.
You missed that m a y b e it was the inquisition that made the auto-nuking happen, because crimson fists refused to help for a mission they didn't like
Idk if they changed it but according to the 8th edition space marine codex the crimson fists paint their left fist red because when they are scouts their final trial before they can become battle brothers is to kill a barb-dragon with their bare hands and they submerge their left fist into it then they paint their right fists when they join the first company. Hope they didn't change it cuz killing a barb-dragon with your bare hands is way cooler than blood handshakes.

@@messageinthebottle1673 as mexican and part of latin american heritage it would be cool to be a crimsom fist!
If you think about it... without any special traits, any special weapons, any special named characters they were able to do things that normally other chapters would fail at or have much worse times with, and with not even half the numbers. absolute chads
Crimson Chads
Not gonna lie, I was hard-core tempted to include Pedro in my work. Cantor is a beast!
YOOOO hi AFWTMT didn’t expect you here.
@@anaveragenightlordsfan
No one ever expects the inquisition!
Or a fan with too much time!
The artwork for Pedro Kantor looks so badass. 👌
I love the Crimson Fists, second only to the Iron Warriors
Rynns World is a great book. I grabbed the Omnibus and looking forward to reading it. They're not my Templars but it is refreshing to read about a Chapter that cares about its People beyond using them as cannon fodder.
I still do not get why everyone loves the Templars so much, they are basically world eaters minus Angron's autism
@@Slenkamure you pretty much already said why. They have a cool Founder in Sigi and while acting like the World Eaters aren't tied to the garbage that is Angron. Someone on here posted that the Templars represent Dorns Rage and some like the Crimson Fists represent his Humanity.
@@ReverendPONT they are incredibly boring though
My favorite chapter for obvious reasons thanks Major Kill made my day
Crimson Fists are awesome, I wish they got more time in the spotlight and a new miniature for Pedro Kantor.
Never give up! Never surrender! - Pedro Cantor, Galaxy Quest
I really like how he narrates the lore
The crimson fists are probably my favourite non first founding chapter, have been waiting for this for a while. Great video
Bloody hell, glad you had a video on the Crimson Fists. I was painting World Eaters with an old class mate. And he told me that he collected Crimson Fists back then!
One of my faves. Both Guilliman and Dorn are my favorite Primarchs and these guys are just great
When Pedro Cantor picked up that mother who was carrying her child, trying to keep up with space marines in power armor, made them my second favorite chapter. my first being Space Mongolians. I mean Talskars.
Hey Majorkill I only recently found your channel but you got me interested into learning more 40k lore and I love your humor so thank you
Aah.. Grimson fisters are back for the joy of all😉😬😭
Always been under rated, and have the best 40k illustration ever with the 2nd edition rule book.
Honestly crimson fists and ultramarines are the best poster boys for warhammer.
Majorkill i loved your crimson fists vedio i think you should do another video on other famous chapters such as the raptors, the howling griffons, the mentors, the novamarines and many more
Duuude you be pumping out tha vids lately! Mucho thankyou :D never disappoints.
The crimson fists where the chapter I first painted, big thumbs up for this vid mate!
Crimson Fist: Imperial fist in blue armor but not ultramarine blue
Ah yes, those guys who are always surrounded by enemies and has that one dude in the center raising his fist in the air in every codex artworks.
Appreciate the amount of quality content. Thank you!
gets back to full strength immediately starts a fight with the orcs love it
Papa Pedro is also incredibly human, he carried a mother and child that had survived when they could not walk any longer. :)
You know the Badab War and Red Corsairs are still out there as topics if you want to find some more interesting events/factions :D
Love watching major kill at 1 in the morning 😎
Hey Majorkill I recommend you making a video about the Executioners
I can't wait to see what Henrry does with Warhammer. Just so much dope Lore, never ending too.
Pedro Immediately saying *_"RUN THAT SHIT BACK GRASS SKIN"_* as soon as his chapter is regenerated is awesome 😂
Can we get more ork lore? The absurdity of their existance in the 40k universe is just hilarous
I can't see anything about the Crimson Fists without listening to BoltThrower in my head.
If memory serves, Polux lost a hand, and his replacement always remained red and discoloured, I thought that was where the name came from.
the "bow to me" at the end always makes me jump scare. i would be a terrible SM but apparently i have all the requirements of a good, living, guardsman.
Immediately fell in love with these guys when a friend who got me into Warhammer told me about them, and boy do I wish they were the popular poster boys like Ultramarines
The fists were the very first space marines back in 1e rogue trader. This was back when space marines were just regular dudes in power armor. That artwork on the cover of that book was so iconic that they remade it in almost every detail as seen in 7:33
My favourite chapter, thanks for finally doing them :)
I love the way you explain the lore
I've gotta be careful drinking and listening to Majorkill. So many times I've come close to spitting up my drink out off sudden explosive laughter.
"I'm here to transport battle brother and kick ass and I'm all outta battle brothers"
-land raider Rynn's might
Pedro cantor needs a new mini to do him the justice he deserves
Remember that the Primaris Captain in Gravis Armor is now available for Pedro Conversions in the tabletop. Power fists and storm bolters included in the kit.
as a player from the late 80's, these are the poster boys of the game. Thanks for the coverage!
First Chapter I ever painted. Glad to see a video on them
Honestly, I find the Crimson Fists getting fucked over by a stray nuke to be something we need more of. It’s a very grimdark moment, where one of the most heroic and renowned chapters is crippled by bad luck, but still manages to pull out a victory. Unlike those damn copycat ultramarines who just kinda win everytime
"And their gene-seed didn't do any wierd, fucky shit." 😂😂 such an accurate description, got me dead 💀
>with billions of khornites
Don't remember which one it was, but wasn't there a battle/crusade which took less than that in dead guardsmen that you often brought up?
Don't forget that Rynn's Might, a sentient Land Raider, is a member of of The Crimson Fists.
Ah yes, Alexis Pollux - the Omegon to Guilliman's Alpharius
Dude could legit be Guilliman's stunt double
The original poster boys of 40K.
Crimson fist are my favorite imperial fist successor, they have some of the stuborness from dorn but also a lot of nobility and kantor is a great guy, it's funny you talked about when kantor meet guilliman since we know guilliman also meet hellbrecht but a wasn't as nice toward him compared to how he was toward kantor, truly one of the best son of dorn here :)
