Yes its sharp but, when you use a high speed rotary tool to sharpen a blade or ax you overheat the edge and lose the hardnesss. You should always sharpen slowly and use water or oil to reduce the heat generated by the high speed tool. You might be able to retemper the edge by heating with a torch and quenching it in oil ,but that requires specific heating temperatures to establish edge hardness.

You are using the strop in wrong direction. It should be away from the edge NOT ALONG OR INTO the edge. Did you not see chunks of strop hitting the worktop. This is ok if you have no other choice but the amount of material you are removing is ridiculous. An axe doesn't "need" to be shaving sharp as its a blunt force tool. Too fine an edge will allow the edge to become deformed and your then into savage metal removal. I would not sharpen my tools using this method unless I really had no choice.
Exactly... by sharpening metal on high speed tool, the guy is dehardening the blade causing it soft. The axe will be sharp for several punches and ready for next sharpening.
This is a delightful parody of sharpening an ax! It’s pretty obvious that it’s not intended to be taken seriously. Deliberately using worn out flap disks instead of fresh just generates more heat than needed when trying to remove metal from an insanely blunt ax. Fresh coarse wheel will reshape the edge quickly with minimal heating assuming you stop frequently. Your point is to get back to a working edge quickly and efficiently so you can get back to work. Not diddle around putting a razor edge on it that goes away after the first swing.
Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate your insight and suggestions. Our goal was to demonstrate the technique with easily available tools for convenience.
first destroys the edge and then fakes it . mostly showing how to destroy the tempering of the edge in the most time consuming way, so it never works well again!
Im not taking poor advice from someone wearing tennis shoes in the shop, let alone no other PPE. You spent hours destroying that axe when i can spend 20-30 minutes with a file and accomplish a much better result that will last more than a few wacks.
@@Alvawelding20 you're going toake people think this is an acceptable way to sharpen an axe. It's not, but if you put a disclaimer saying this is purely something for a fun project it would be fine. Still, the lack of PPE is very disturbing.

Ce dernier aspect ne sert pas uniquement à rendre joli le fil de la lame. Bien fait, il va retirer le "morfil" et aiguiser de façon parfaite votre lame. Not one mention about bevel angles? Among the most important factors in sharpening ANYTHING? Sorry, no good, and instead of digging out old, dull discs, why not use newer ones with finer grit ranges? I get the idea of using old ones rather than trashing them, but to outright reject better ones? Nah,,,,
