I needed an axe to cut paper with, but my axe just wasn't up to the task, then I came across this video, what a game changer, no more using scissors for me. Thank you.
"This video is amazing! The trick of adding just one hole to make the axe as sharp as a knife is brilliant and so effective. I’m surprised I didn’t know about this sooner! Your clear instructions make it easy to understand and try out. Thank you for sharing such a practical and game-changing tip - it’s incredibly helpful!"
Wow!
First ....don't ever brush off metal shavings with your hands, use air, or a brush or something, unless you like digging metal slivers out of your hands.
I agree with Micheal Trombino. This is a lot of work when all you really need is minimal information and a file. My axes are just as sharp and it took me half as long to do it. Plus, on a side note, DO NOT EVER put sand paper on a CD and use it as a sanding disc. That angle grinder is running at 11 to 12 thousand rpm. That’s as much as a formula race car. Obviously you’ve never had a cutting wheel explode on you because you’re asking for a very bloody accident doing that.
Do not use a CD this way unless you like to bleed, hey I've got an idea, go to the store and buy a rubber wheel for this exact task that will last you many years and you get to keep you eye balls !
????? Explain the details, diameter of holes, what was the item you used to drill the whetstone, what type of glue? Interesting use of an old CD and sandpaper 800 grit blue color on the sandpaper- what was that? is it like the green the white or red or black What about a chopping demo? A bigger axe for larger wood splitting So many questions Isn’t it easier to sharpen traditionally?
I’m sorry to say, this is one of those tricks that only works if you already have fixed the blade shape away from a cheap factory edge and even then it is clumsy, limited, and requires too much setup and gear and lots of work. It will only shape the blade to one geometry. I’m glad people still put a little thought and keep trying to improve but not every neat trick is a good trick. Thank you for trying anyway.
An axe isnt supposed to be razor sharp anyway! 5 seconds with an angle grinder or belt sander does the required sharpening perfectly without drilling holes in the axe and oilstone. Crazy!!!!!!!
So I guess the 1000s of years people have sharpened their tools with whetstones and water isn't nearly as efficient as using 1/2 can of WD-40, glue, screws, 3 different power tools & bits, a CD, a vice and sandpaper...have I got that right?
I slit about a thousand pieces of kindling each year. I dont want a super sharp axe. I took the side off my thumb 1r years ago sonow for slitting at least i go with fairly dull. I have other tools for shaving off material.
FYI: The majority of accidental cuts / injuries occur because of a dull blade or tool. This results in the user applying incorrect or inappropriate force to compensate for the tools inability to perform its job with ease. Instead, make sure your blades and tools are as sharp as can be, and let the blade or tool do the work for you!
Imaginative idea, but far better to learn how to sharpen an axe by eye and feel, using a whetstone - like, as others have commented, people have done for thousands of years. What you need to think about is; what if you're in the forest and need to sharpen your axe? It's the same with sharpening a knife or any bladed tool, it is a skill that needs to learned and mastered.
7:47. A perfectly good pair of scissors to cut the sandpaper. If the hatchet were sharp already you could use it to cut the paper. Polishing compound on 80 grit sandpaper? This gets stranger and stranger. Why is the WD40 can wrapped with blue tape?
It's far easier to hold the axe head up to a grinding wheel & sharpen it in about 60 seconds. Axes don't need to cut paper like scissors... that's stupid.
Bad use of the whetstone. The correct angle can be made using an electric grind stone, the whetstone is for the final sharpening. No holes are drilled.

Please don’t waste your time on this video, you will never get this time in your life back.
😂
That cd is potentially lethal, omg.
yes, dangerous !
Nice to see genuinely nice ideas for a change :)
So why drill the axe
Just drill a hole in the bench😊
I better try this one at someone else's house, using someone else's axe and tools.
You don't need razor sharp axe to chop woods.
Actually a razor sharp axe is what most pro's use, but you don't need to use this ridiculous method.
dangerous idea, that CD can shatter into dozens of small pieces and puncture your belly. hope you have a life insurance
Everybody has to get into the video act no matter what they do eagle

And did you notice it didn’t cut the paper any better then before sharpening 😂😂
😭😭😭🙉🙉🙉🙈🙈🙈👎👎👎.
Good sound effects though.

BULL CRAP : WD 40 doesn't lub drill holes by spraying on top, don't need anything but vice to hold axe and learn how to sharpen correctly.
I was coming here to say just that. Why do people think WD is a lube? My hell.
DONT drill holes in your tools... Clamp the guide in place like professional companies do. Absurd!
First ....don't ever brush off metal shavings with your hands, use air, or a brush or something, unless you like digging metal slivers out of your hands.
Thank you for your comment! ❤️🔥 I usually work with special gloves and know all the nuances of metal shavings, but thank you for your attention!
Jetzt noch einen Schmiernippwl dran😂😂😂
what a stupid idea sharpening freehand
Thank you
Welcome!
All that effort to keep the same angle then Freehand the last step...😅🤣😂
Maybe after completing sharpening, you could show the axe being used for its intended purpose.
Please save a big thick slab for me!!!
..... or you can learn how to sharpen.
Yes, with a good file, it only takes like four or five swipes.
When it shines, it must be sharp.
Sharpening tricks are a waste of time if the steel is of a low grade that won't take or hold a fine edge.
I agree with Micheal Trombino. This is a lot of work when all you really need is minimal information and a file. My axes are just as sharp and it took me half as long to do it. At theend.... Not cutting, it was tearing the paper, you could see the torn edges. What a waste of time.
????? Explain the details, diameter of holes, what was the item you used to drill the whetstone, what type of glue?
Interesting use of an old CD and sandpaper 800 grit blue color on the sandpaper- what was that? is it like the green the white or red or black
What about a chopping demo?
A bigger axe for larger wood splitting
So many questions
Isn’t it easier to sharpen traditionally?
This is a subliminal ad-campaign for WD40. :)
Are you going to use an ax for chopping wood or for shaving Eagle

magnet is just as good with out the hole

Are u bored to tears???😏🥳🤯

Oh my 😔 This is of course a sad story, but it is still convenient to work with a sharpened tool

Yess ! Great idea 😄
That's a. Hatchet and I could have used a file in less than half the time
🐐
Wow. Just unbelieveable.

Ummmmmmmmm? I don’t think so….
Why don't you just use the grinding wheel on your grinder and sharpen it?
Great video. Thank you.
But the music is like a pineapple up my arse!
@FixItFast14:10 you say gluie yet you use wd 40
Do you mean 4:10 where he used a hot glue gun? Zero effort by you.
That really didn't end very sharp by your paper test at the end...
7:47. A perfectly good pair of scissors to cut the sandpaper. If the hatchet were sharp already you could use it to cut the paper. Polishing compound on 80 grit sandpaper? This gets stranger and stranger. Why is the WD40 can wrapped with blue tape?
Is that guy drunk?
'like' x 2

damn music!!
Given some time, the haft is going to be knackered with putting it in a vice, or splintered and stabbing your hand i fear....
It's far easier to hold the axe head up to a grinding wheel & sharpen it in about 60 seconds. Axes don't need to cut paper like scissors... that's stupid.
Great idea though if u want a really sharp edge.
Yes yes! Glad you found it useful 🤗
Where's the oil
What is holes diameter?
Super.
Thank you! Cheers!
I made it 5 minutes into this ridiculous video and I want my time back
Bad use of the whetstone.

No holes are drilled.
I knew this was bogus the name meant he used WD-40 as a lubricant which it isn't
Die muss ja nur spaltennicht schneiden😂😂
It seemed sharper bevor.
Pretty neat!
Looks like 2 holes to me
I lost time
Ich werd irre

Han ødelægger både sten og økse
This is obviously NOT how to sharpen anything, and he's also using the wrong scratch pattern with the scratch pattern going across the edge.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
nope
dont
😂😂😂
Don't do this! Learn to sharpen your ax!!!
