  • Climbing Kilimanjaro!? I go day by day what my experience was like hiking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro Tanzania. This was a crazy time hiking the Lemosho Route from the base all the way to the summit of Kilimanjaro. I wanted to share a Kilimanjaro travel guide with all the tips for climbing Kilimanjaro dealing with altitude sickness, summiting Kilimanjaro and all that stuff. Waking up at midnight at base camp and trekking the rest of the way up the mountain was something else. Our summit attempt was unlike anything I've ever done but so worth it to see the views from the top of Kilimanjaro Mountain. I climbed this mountain with 4 friends and loved every second of it and hope I can give you a bit of a guide to what it's really like to hike Kilimanjaro.

      Hey Joey, another great video. Kilimanjaro is so pretty when the snow sticks at the summit. Regarding the food, it's not the same with all operators. The mid-range companies will resupply food a little more than halfway into the trip, so you can get fresh meats and eggs during the hardest parts of the climb. Protein is an important part of recovery.

    Tasmania's Mount Ossa in Australia was epic, scary and definitely one of the best things I've done.. alone! The Overland track is a 6day hike with each night in your tent or you can use the permanent camp huts. You are totally self sufficient in case of inclement weather. And basically throughout each day you can do little side trips eg a 30min walk to a look out or waterfall etc with a day pack leaving your big pack on the ground at the start point. So on this day I hiked for 3 hours from camp, did Mount Ossa (EPIC rock scrambling!) which was a FIVE HOUR round trip, picked up my (now VERY heavy feeling 20kg pack) and hiked for another hour to camp with a blissful rock pool and waterfall. This has given me the gumption to do Kili. I'd love to do the Lemosho route and plan to in 3 months. Wish me luck! And thank you for this video :) Keep adventuring everyone ;) Amy

    The Grand Canyon. Walk slowly down to enjoy scenery and read about the eons of geologic time you are passing through. Spend a couple of nights at the bottom exploring, and then the BIG walk up. Truly an incredible experience.

      Ahhh ive always wanted to do the Grand Canyon! Hoping to do it this summer if things clear up. Awesome you got to spend some nights down there. Super jealous! 🤩

      Joey, one should only do it in the Spring or Fall - much too hot in the summer. For example, in April snow at the rim and delightful 75 degrees at the bottom.

      Gotcha yeah seems like it would be too hot most of the time out there 😂

    @Joey Briggs--
    Hello Joey-
    I saw your video on Kilimanjaro tips on UA-cam. It was well done and helpful. I am planning to go in June 2023 with G Adventures.
    I had a question as a fellow US Citizen. Did you do the E-Visa or the Visa on Arrival? If you did the E-Visa do they put a Tanzania Visa Sticker in your passport? (I ask this because I love collecting them). If you opt for the other way, I am assuming there are long lines?
    Please write back when you can.
    Best.

      You do it all at once at the end and can do once you're back in the city so you don't have to cary all that money
