- Ever wonder what it's really like teaching at a school in Africa? Today I share my Peace Corps Experience serving as a high school teacher in the education sector in Liberia, West Africa and what it's really like as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Peace Corps is an amazing organization that does so much good but the truth about peace corps is what you experience may shock some people. Things can be challenging and very far outside your comfort zone but for people like me thats most the excitement! Being in the Peace Corps was such amazing time in my life and am so happy to share it with you guys! Peace corps volunteers have crazy experiences and there are many different Peace Corps countries all unique but one things for sure its the toughest job you'll ever love. The life of a peace corps volunteer is one of the craziest experience ever but theres nothing you'll love more than your peace corps job ❤️Here's a little peace corps vlog talking about all the benefits of this amazing organization, i hope you guys enjoy to get a peak of what it means to Serve in the US Peace Corps :D

Man Joey, you truly are an inspiration. Teaching well over 100 students and the fact that they're your age or older is almost unfathomable. I could never imagine myself doing what you did. But you're such a strong individual and I am so proud of your commitment to teaching these people and making a difference in their lives. Awesome photographs as well, really told the story.

Things has really change, This has all been due to the civil war corruptions and diseases,The way he is talking about the country makes you feel so bad as if Liberia is a a depressing country to live.
This is years after your upload so I'm unsure that you'll see this but "small" actions or influencing just one community IS changing the world. Some people are blessed to be in a position where they can affect great change across many different peoples but it's also a blessing to be in a position like this where you work and grow alongside people in need. Time is the only one who can tell us how our actions will affect the people we meet and the places we live but I have no doubt based on what you have shared that all those lives you touched are in a much better position themselves to affect positive change in their own lives and the lives of those around them
If that isn't changing the world in a meaningful and substantive way, I don't know what is

Thank you so much for these videos! Two years later and they are still blessing people like me who are ready to make a radical change in their lives. It took a brain tumor and finding my faith for me to wake up and see that chasing money and material things no longer satisfied and mean nothing in the end. Not sure if I physically could handle going overseas, but the peace corps is something I would love to do if given the opportunity! If not, I will continue to serve in my church and more locally. Thank you again for sharing your experience and I pray God continues to richly bless you! 🙏

Thank you for this. I wish it was a little more diverse among corps volunteers. As the daughter of indigenous Liberian immigrants turned U.S citizens, I would love to live and teach in Liberia.
If you are a US citizen you are able to be a peace corps volunteer. I had a Liberian girl in the same situation serving with me

Thanks for your testimony! I wanted to do this, but my life changed so dramatically so I couldn't do what I had wanted because Dad died, Mom remarried and then we moved up north to another state. So I commend you for posting this, thanks !

I was there in 2016-2017 as al Alternative Basic Education Specialist working in three counties - Bong, Nimba and Lofa. I really can't find the perfect word to describe your awesome experience. Above all, I love the questions you asked at the end of the presentation. I surmise I too, made some impact in the lives of those I met and lived with in Gbanga. I had the most humbling but amazing and satisfying experience ever! No regrets, only love!
Hi! Where did you get the materials for the reading passages you would work on with students? I know earlier you said you had the knowledge of subjects but lacked the resources besides the chalkboard and maybe some other things, so I'm wondering where you would get papers and things like that from. And awesome video! So informative I really appreciate it.
You are an awesome volunteer. Dash is endemic to Liberia and the reason it remains poverty stricken. No accountability, just a struggle to survive. I have learned so much from your experience about life in Liberia. The country was one of the first countries President Kennedy sent the PC. They are like 100 years behind development. If you ever saw the TV series Little House on the Prairie, your experience reminds me of how school works in the rural areas of U.S 100 years ago. You probably impacted the people you taught more than you’ll ever know. Wonder if you ever read the book the Zinzin Road about PC in 1960s Liberia and if so how did it compare to your life there?

We had once peace corps in Philippines, she taught people like gardening, teaching in the remote area and she walj kilometers from her house.....too tired to see her walks a lot.
June Liad haha yes walking is a big part of peace corps 😂 my market was about 3km away from my house and I would walk there and back everyday

How about in North Korea any peace corps?
June Liad yes that is something some countries struggle with. It is very sad and something peace corps is continually working on. I do not believe there are any peace corps in North Korea. For them to be in a country they have to be invited by the government and I do not think North Korea has asked for peace corps

What are the hours for your schedule?
The no limitations to ones receiving his or her education. The sky is a limit to everything. The biggest downfall of our Western African nation is corruptions in government and lacks of resources when it comes to things like education most specific because many people cannot afford to send their kids to school etc... so that's one of the biggest problems of our western African nation. It's very sad, but our governments are greedy
