- In this video I am sharing with you the Kilimanjaro Packing List of all items I used during my recent Kilimanjaro Climb in September 2020 along the Machame route.
If you are planning to head to Tanzania, you need to know what to pack for your Kilimanjaro climb in 2020. The weather on Kilimanjaro is unpredictable all year long, and you might want to avoid the rainy season in April and May as well as November and into December. No matter what month you go, your packing list for Kilimanjaro needs to include rain gear, layers for warm to cold weather, and of course all other essential items.
This Kilimanjaro packing list is suitable for most seasons and all routes and is updated for 2020. The list provided is based on my own personal experience. I would love to hear your comments and would like to know what else you can share and add to this list.

KILIMANJARO GEAR LIST
Travel Bag
Bag for Climbing - Waterproof
Day Pack - Make sure you have a rain cover for the day pack.
Camo Bag (for water)
Additional Water Bottle with Filter
Boots (waterproof and well broken in)
Gators (to prevent your pants to get wet and dirty)
Liner socks (one pair for each day)
Hiking Socks (different wights for temperature fluctuations)
Underwear (long & dry fit)
Hiking Pants
Shirts (layers, light to heavy)
Thermos
Rain jacket & rain pants
Sunglasses
Hat for sun protection
Face mask or scarf
Light gloves and heavy gloves for summit

I’d never take the crap malaria meds. And I’ve had malaria. It was baaaaad but the worst was when they gave me that pharma crap at the hospital back in NYC. That did almost kill me, ICU and all, and that when I was already stabilized.
Artemisia for malaria. Natural. Also Hydroxychloroquin.
Please don’t take toxic Lysol to the mountain.
