Its such a shame the British government is trying to replace & extinguish bright young men & women like him. I hope he finds a lovely true (white) British or European woman to love & create a big happy family with. As well as literally keep the DNA alive that have resulted in Harry's & George's like these two cool men for centuries & centuries.
Lovely old beauty. When I was a child I went with my dad, who was a police road accident investigator, to see one of these that had been involved in an RTA with a parked Escort. Needless to say, the damage to the Roller was minimal. I've loved them ever since.
Great to see George so passionate about his work - that’s what you want when trusting your pride and joy to a body shop. It’s amazing how you can become attached to a car and how price doesn’t enter the equation. I like to see these videos, means more than the usual new car reviews I could never afford….
He's still got the winter tyres on! I believe they're staying on as a tribute to this car's original voyage (in Harry's ownership) to the Arctic Circle. And... it saves money on buying new tyres!
Harry, great to see you give such time to George. That is what we need to see to encourage young men & women like George to keep old cars on the road. I hope you give George that car for some trips that he and his friends can enjoy so we can bring on young people like him to keep the cars moving and restored. Thank you for this Harry, Andy.
Glad “Her Majesty “ is coming along, totally agree to the idea of smartening the other bits as well ……she deserves it , ah yes and keep her dignity with her chrome trims and caps !
Hey Harry. Your Rolls Royce to the Arctic videos inspired my wife and I to hop on a plane in late 2019 and fly from Australia to Oslo via China and we recreated your trip. Albeit in an AWD Skoda Octavia Wagon. We went further north, in winter to Tromso, via Bergen, Lillehamer, Narvick etc. What a wonderful experience. Thanks for the inspiration that you and the Rolls gave us. We ended up seeing the Northern lights on four separate nights! Incredible. Highly recommended. Cheers.
Since I find newer and over-computerized cars, I find your car restoration reports absolutely fascinating and enjoy them immensely. I appreciate the care you take in choosing how much and in what way you restore and/or customize your cars, and I also very much appreciate that you enjoy them taking epic trips and making long-term memories. Thank you, Harry!
She's gorgeous Mr M. Just what was required, a sympathetic, thoughtful restoration. Enough to see her live for another 50 years or so, without going over the top and making it look brand new. You've done this car a great service and shown it the respect it deserves. Bravo sir.
Andy shaw. I agree with your statement. I have always had a bit of a 'problem' with 'concours' cars, along with why 70 year old people want to look like they're still 20!! The patina of a life lived is so much more interesting than just being new looking! Just an opinion!
I am so jealous! To be able to take an old Rolls-Royce and fix her up is my idea of Heaven. She's beautiful. Is it not interesting how good Rolls-Royces look in white, especially the post WWII models? Your videos on your Rolls-Royce adventure makes my heart soar.
Always love Harry's enthusiastic but completely natural-sounding delivery. As if the camera wasn't there. And what a skilled young man George is! Bloody good effort 👏
Harry, this is the way life should work. Everything about this is awesome. So glad that young guy got to work on the metal and the car has turned out great. Just well done.
I was never a big fan of this generation of RRs but your videos series have given me a much more positive impression of them. I think it was crazy cool that you took this up to the arctic circle! Rear-wheel drive to there? Unbelievable. It's hard for me not to wish that you would have done a full-restore since it would be great to see it returned to its original glory. I guess the Jag V-12 will have to do that. I said it then, I love the color you picked out for it. That's another feature I wouldn't have chosen but it really looks great! Smart choice.
Harry, your excitement over every stage in bringing back your Roller, delights me. I regularly take my Corniche up to northern Scandinavia and it filled my heart with joy, watching your episodes up north. These cars will take you anywhere.
Ooh! Somebody else who does it! Where do you go up from? I'm personally recommissioning a 1982 Silver Spirit and have plans to take it to see the Northern Lights when she's ready as well.
@@taylorsimonr oooo!! Lovely!! I used to own a 1982 Silver Spirit which was my first nice car to be sent north. Once I hunted two roe bucks that I carried south with space to spare in the trunk. They were just perfectly macerated as I arrived and were immediately turned into cookable chunks for friends and freezers. Last year I took the testarossa above the arctic circle, inspired by Harry, taking his testarossa to the Gateway of the Sahara. The testarossa really impressed me as well up on arctic latitudes. It always started and was defrosted in three minutes. Even the rear window in the testarossa has defrost. A Roller is the perfect weapon for any climate. The high ride height, independent suspension, great heating and AC and the possibility to fit modern compound SUV tyres, make it plow through the arctic like a steam locomotive
If your Silver Spirit has a catalyzer, make sure to protect it with vented bash plates. RR just smacked the cat on underneath, not worrying about the exposed low position. My Series III Corniche DHC suffers from the same problem and I've ruined it once from ground impact. Cats for RR are quite expensive. I believe Cadillac coincide with some RR cats. Please do check, it can save you loads of money. SUV tyres are slightly larger in diameter but still fit in the spare wheel carrier. These tyres are a lot better than the Continental and Avon and they lift the car slightly for more clearance. Also, I've fitted Öhlins bespoke shocks and slightly firmer springs. These are highly recommendable mods
Thanks for another great update Harry! I would think another 2,000 pounds or so would finish refinishing/painting the roof, trunk, upper doors and other areas, I would go for it! Old saying is, do it the right way first or don't do it at all...get the old lady ready for a Cape Town South Africa trip next!
Thanks Harry. It’s nice to see the old girl being saved sympathetically, and now being viewed at far less than 20 paces! Looking forward to seeing it back in the garage with all the trim replaced.
I love the variety of the cars in Harry's garage, all wonderful in their own way. The contrast between the solid, rust-free luxobarge Rolls and and the delicate, not-so-rust-free Fulvia is sublime.
What I like about Harrys vids is any costs incurred he tells it you straight. No pretending or being secretive. £5k seems about right to me for that respray plus of course the metalwork they did which was quite extensive.
Oh I could, with an aluminium panel underneath .... helps against vandalization and considerably eases the paintwork-anxiety when driving between all those distracted lady-texters these days
@Big Dongle My expression was at how silly I felt after heaping such lavish praise. I will not draw any inferences from your unexpected reaction if you put away the long bow.
5k well spent! Lovely old thing that means something to you, miles better than a perfect garage queen that covers 10 miles a year going on and off a trailer. Arctic rolls, love them. Just rustproofed my mini with dinitrol, very similar to the BIlt product. One of the cans came with a long flexible tube fitted with a ‘spray in all directions’ nozzle, gets fluid right into all the crevices, makes a messy job easy and rewarding to do. Flood every box section, don’t block drain holes
Great to see the Rolls improved. Was planning to copy the artic trip and then Covid descended on us all. I wouldnt be able to resist changing that interior personally.... black or very deep blue... perfect with the white exterior......
Harry - My father had a 1970 RR SS, white/tan, RHD, exactly the same as yours when I was a kid. This was late 80’s until maybe 92 or 93. I remember my dad’s mood being pretty hit or miss when it came to light hearted replies to the litany of cars pulling up at stop lights w/occupants asking if we had Grey Poupon… Gorgeous car Harry.
Thank goodness people like Harry exist in the Classic car world,he just decided the Artic Rolls “deserved “this work just to continue the story of a great British piece of motoring history and you know what? He’s so right!

I thought I saw the Rolls sitting the garage in a couple of recent videos - so have been eagerly awaiting an update. Wonderful to see the old Rolls looking so great. Thank you for giving it so much love. Harry, every reason to be chuffed.
IMHO, Its the best looking Rolls, maybe because its been in a lot of films I have loved back in the day, like Cannonball Run, James Bond, Get Carter, Thomas Crown Affair, Miami Vice. just to name a few. It is a stunner.

Great to see The Arctic Express shine again. The old lady definitely makes a great figure and is now ready for a new trip to Norway and maybe all the way up to the North Cape this time. Even for us Norwegians (at least for those of us who come from the southern part of the country) this is a really big challenge if it is done in winter with all that this entails of serious challenges when you get so far north. We are talking about the same latitude as the northernmost tip of Alaska and the Beaufort Sea on the American continent.
look forward to seeing how & where the Rolls goes next. will have a think what winter tyres i would put on. smooth to go with the car, but slightly deeper tread to cope with built-up ice roads. swage lines. that's a learning curve for me
You’ve gone that far I think it’s a pity not to sort the scabby bits as well. Then repair the seat otherwise it will get a lot worse with use. Love the vids and Harry’s Farm. Looking forward to the next instalment.
The old girl is coming along quite nicely, and looks spanking in her fresh, white, livery! If the moose must return, might I suggest placing them on the lower front wings, behind the wheels? And some simple badges, in chrome that states "Arctic Edition" would be a nice, finishing touch.
I have a Cadillac Sedan Deville 1973 that is sort of restored the same way as your Rolls, so you still can feel the first owners "spirit" in it. And I like that a lot.
Really nice to see the old Silver Shadow getting some well deserved tlc Harry, but without going over the top, sometimes it's hard to know how far to go and when to stop! 'Wedding car white' on a RR is often looked down upon but it really suits the simple elegant lines of the car and lets the brightwork do its job of being complimentary. I've just recently bought a white Maserati Biturbo 430 which has hardly any excess decoration and it just 'works', especially so with the contrasting blue interior. Looking forward to seeing the next video ;-).
Im so happy you saved this old girl
Great to see young lads like George, gives you hope for the future.
Yep, he struck me as someone with their head screwed on and who’s going to do well
And has a better head for numbers than Harry 😂

I like the way Harry treats everyone the same 👍
Love your garage Harry. Great that you gave George some air time, what a great young lad, he came over incredibly well. The Rolls is looking lovely.
Great to see George so passionate about his work - that’s what you want when trusting your pride and joy to a body shop.

"Price doesn't enter the equation". Er, Harry said the repair job was agreed at £5000 + VAT
Harry, George is a star. Passionate, dedicated and proud of his work.
What a great trip the artic one was. Could watch those type of videos all day. Come on Harry, get the winter tyres on.👍
Same here!
It certainly was a great trip and I thoroughly enjoyed it too.
He's still got the winter tyres on! I believe they're staying on as a tribute to this car's original voyage (in Harry's ownership) to the Arctic Circle. And... it saves money on buying new tyres!
One of the few affordable classics. Make sure the all the new metal is properly rust proofed and it will bring you many miles with smiles.

It didn’t just start rusting after a trip to the Arctic, quality metal but that’s been rusting over the years. Great job that lad George did 👍🏻

Nothing tatty about the body repairs. That metalwork is superb. Fantastic job👍
Always excellent that’s why we watch Harry thanks mr garage ciao ciao
I love seeing what the restorers are capable of. Love the pearl white paint and as you wished, still bares the character of the Arctic Rolls.

Big long couple of thousand mile road trip in this beauty this winter would be epic ❄️🤙

Looking very nice. I would definitely fix that bit of mess on the door above the trim but the rest is fine.
Did we see into Harry’s workshop then!?? Looked suspiciously like a ramp!!
Glad to have the old girl back!! Lancia update next pls 👍🏼
