I agree, it doesn't matter whether the car is worth it. The only point that matters is whether you're prepared to spend the money on it. There is more emotion with cars than 'non-car people' might think.
Some guy used a RR Corniche (coupe version of Silver Shadow) as a Paris-Dakar rally car. I think he used a LandCruiser chassis frame + suspention +axels under it for the 4x4. robbreport.com/motors/cars/paris-dakar-rally-rolls-royce-2827674/
I missed this first time around - but what a treat. I concur fully with the travesty that has befallen Park Lane. I drove up there a couple of weeks ago and cars are now relegated to just one lane of the original four lane 'drag-strip' as I also remember it - dodging in and out between buses and coaches and then a last minute lane correction to get the right entry point for the Edgware Road exit off Marble Arch. Now car drivers must take their place amongst buses (1 lane) coach parking (1 lane) and cycles (1 lane). The 20mph speed limit is just the raspberry on an already very soggy, damp sponge. Hey ho. A beautiful restoration and some great descriptions of the car's sheer 'waftability'. Thank you.

While nobody cares about common rust repair per se, a good story is priceless. The Arctic Rolls trip was my intro to this channel (as I recall), demonstrating it was a different take on vehicles I've stayed with it and am very glad I did.
Yes, but the RR Shadow will always be remembered for its stunning good looks, far better-looking than anything produced under the new management! Harry has turned the Shadow's weaknesses into its' strength, without Harry, we all know the unfortunate ending..................And why the BBC do not offer to buy the rights to the great Arctic Trip, I will never understand!! That model has always been my 'dream' car. In reality, at almost 75, I drive a '71 Electric Super Beetle. I do not miss all of the maintenance, such as oil changes, tappets and breaker points to think about........... It would be nice to buy a really cheap Shadow, knackered engine and transmission..................... and then convert to EV and see that everyone would want one!
The Artic Rolls clearly brings so much enjoyment for the family as an “occasional” so it’s great to see you’re putting something back into it. I bought an immaculate last of the steel bodied XJ8’s a few years as a daily for my wife to waft from Oxton to West Kirby and back for work in a bit of luxury and style, it serves as our occasion car too, so no expense spared with meticulous maintenance at Bob Bate in Birkenhead.
Harry should award each of these garages working on restoring his various cars a Harry Metcalfe coat of arms, thus recognising their continued commitment to excellent work...just a thought!

Coincidentally, I’ve just (10 days ago) put my own precious ‘89 Silver Spur in for a full bodywork/repaint to original spec. 356,000 kilometres on it, used to be a daily driver. My mechanic is stripping it as we speak. I’ll be watching the progress of Harry’s car with bated breath, because I can imagine that it’s going to be magnificent when it emerges!
I really like the attitude with which you're approaching this project, Harry. I am 100% in the same position with almost the same car - a '69 model Silver Shadow. I got into it for almost the same price, and it needs about the same amount of work as yours. What you said about these cars not having much value is true, as is what you said about them being about the memories. My car belonged to my, now deceased, Uncle for the last 20 years, and it is a rolling monument to him. We're looking very much forward to getting it roadworthy again and making another generation's worth of memories in it! Thanks for the videos of the Rolls and please do keep them coming!

Well welcome to another Harry's Garage video and this video was long overdue. After its monumental achievements it's great to see Mr M giving some well deserved love and TLC back to the Roller.

Looked pretty rough in places to me too - that’s going to need a few tubs of P38 to get straight again. It’s not the work of Pete C at Cortina City, now that’s welding.
You know a man loves cars when he gets to drive the fastest, most exclusive cars in the world but still spends £4k on a rusty Roller for fun. God bless Harry!
The good old Artic Rolls receiving some well-deserved and needed love. Is almost shocking to see how much of it is missing but totally worth fixing it because as Harry said “these cars are about memories” and this one definitely was instrumental to create those epic videos about that trip to the Artic. This RR, Harry and his wife bravely soldering on against that merciless cold in their quest for the northern lights is something we all will remember fondly. What an adventure that was.

I love the Rolls, so glad she’s getting a little TLC, can’t wait to see another Artic adventure! ⛄️
Nice to see some love going into the Shadow..
Wonderful excursion in a timeless classic!
Nice to see Harry that you are using the proper winter tires. Cheerio from a Canadian fan.
Love these rebuilds, great giving the bargain bucket lady a new frock and some lippy, its what she needed and deserves. Still alot of flash for not alot of cash... keep it up, great work.
The best you tube car reviews 🙂 Harrys garage
I would suggest you celebrate the completion of this by doing another trip to the north of Norway, but this time in the midnight sun!
