Curie, she's the only human (synth) not associated to the Brotherhood that likes it if you join the brotherhood.
She's the one that convinced me not to side with the brotherhood. She displays real emotions after being placed in a synth body. No software changes.
The brotherhoods insistence on killing synths became a big no no for me.
wow a synth that likes it if you join the brotherhood? well RIP to immersion and role playing because thats completely backwards and bad.
Jericho is my favorite for playing a villain in Fallout 3. But hands down, my absolute favorite is Raul Alfonso Tejada.
Old long Fellow must be my fav by a mile in F4
Nick Valentine is the most developed fallout npc, and it is interesting to go all the way to far harbor with him. He's ultimately the reason I let DIMA live.
I enjoyed Sulik. I miss the days fallout let new cultures grow instead of recycling 1950s stuff.
I like piper's character, and the voice actor was great.
Veronica Santangelo was something special because the time with her is bitter-sweet. I think she's the only reason I don't kill the BoS in that game.
The FO4 mods Heather and Darlene are incredibly important for anyone who likes companions. Heather is the most seriously written companion mod, Darlene has more humour. Both are professional level imo.
Heather is a sweetheart for me
And sulik looks very cool with power armour (I know his sprites don't chance but imagining him with an enclave power armour sounds cool and badass)
Automatron's robot companions + Ada are my most favorites in Fallout 4
My favorites would have to be (Not doing DLC separately)
1) Ian- The meme with this man is real, and honestly that's really it didn't use many companions in 1
2) Marcus- I played NV before 2 and in NV I loved his voice work, his well reasoned nature, and honestly he was just a chill guy so when I learned he could be my companion in 2 I fell in love with him in this game as well
3) Butch- Another game I never used many companions in 3 but of them has to be Butch because let's face it Tunnel Snakes Rule.
NV) This is a Hard one as I enjoy most the companions but I have to go with Veronica- She was my first companion in NV (Never used Boone in that playthrough) and her personality drove me to do independent my first time around as I couldn't bare to destroy the Brotherhood. In subsequent playthroughs I still really enjoy her but I've tended to use her less as I enjoy a House playthrough more, in those games I tend to go Raul or Arcade.
4) This is a hard one as I adore the companions and companion system of 4 but I'll go with Piper or Nick- They both are great characters who run with you the entire storyline and are built up beautifully.
Also hot take despite NV being my favorite game I honestly think 4 has overall better companions
4 > NV > 2 > 1/3 (Again I don't really use companions in these 2)

Cool list man! My top 5 favorite companions are: Nick Valentine, Dogmeat(F3 & F4), Piper, Boone, & Codsworth. I romanced Piper in my game(shes the Lois Lane of Fallout), I always love a good detective case with Nick(Plus, I like the Humphrey Bogart reference), I team up with Boone to destroy the Fort(NCR brothers for life!), Codsworth is family, & of course Dogmeat. You gotta love that dog. He’s always there for you.
Fawkes, Boone, Rex, Dogmeat (Fallout 4), Nick Valentine, Paladin Danse. I'd say they're among my favourites of the base-game companion roster. Either for being hard to kill, having a cool concept as characters (Fawkes being one of the few benevolent Super Mutants on the East Coast, Nick Valentine being a pre-war detective personality in an experimental Synth body, Rex being a Cyber-Dog), the feeling they're your ideal partners in crime, and also because they're fun to listen to (Nick especially; he's such a fascinating character).

An early introduction to friendly fire. A gimmick character who flips combat. Charon is Charon. My drunk shotgunner run was possibly the most fun I had in NV. And the naïve possible-nuclear-armed-sentrybot is hilarious, I believe the term is- yahoo.
Id say fallout 4 companions are better than fallout 2 companions even though im very much a og fallout fan. The reason being every single companion has a strong backstory and companion quest. Fallout 2 has companions like lenny, mira, etc whose backstory is honestly kind of weak and none of them except vic and myron have quests
1. Ian. Absolutely. His refusal to complain despite facing the most grueling ordeals, as well as being the guy who waddled with me throughout the wasteland from level 1, makes him a shoe in.
2. Sulk, His personality is just the best.
3. Didn't care for it so, I have no opinion.
NV. I love Cass' personality. She is by far the most fun companion to have around. That being said, I'm usually playing some form of NCR sniper, so Boone is my guy. His backstory is amazingly well done too.
4. My Scottish/Irish babe, Cait. I know she's supposed to be Irish, but her VA was a Scot, so that colored her inflection a bit. That being said, the personality is interesting and her quest is engaging. Ada from Automatron is a close 2nd. I never even bother releasing Preston from the museum anymore. Too annoying and I hate how he treats his superior officer as a gopher. Screw off Preston, I order you to rescue the settlement of farmers. Danse is 3rd, but only just loses out to Ada because *spoilers*.
With Dean Domino, I've found that even if you never threaten or say anything negative to him, only the Barter skill checks in dialog with him will turn him hostile. All other skill checks I've tested never turned him hostile by the end.
Yeah any dialogue option that makes him feel coerce, regardless if it's a skill/speech check or not, will result in dean betraying you in the end
curie def my favorite fallout 4 companion, she feels like the most unique but yet tied into the game's main focus of synths. Also she has an actual reason to speak with a french accent unlike cait and her irish stuff. second is probably danse, since its the first proper BOS member, but the twist and lack of options with the BOS afterwards is annoying to deal with, wish they could have just had knight rhys be a new companion if you killed danse or something like that, it would be more unique and intertwined.

I thought she was memorable due to how she goes from being a nanny robot to a synth with human goals. Ill admit her personal quest did kinda end prematurely but again, it definitely was an interesting and memorable one. Plus shes adorable lol
Gotta be Veronica man, all my homies love Veronica and her fist powers rivaling of the fisto itself

Favorite Companions in Order:
Fallout 3: Fawkes & Dogmeat. I know that's cheating but, during my 1st playthrough of Fallout 3, Fawkes just came off as the most reasonable, personable, and interesting of all the companions. We became fast friends and he was my homie for the remainder of the playthrough.
Fallout New Vegas: Arcade Gannon. Subtracting non-human companions (because that would be cheating and I've done it already), something always struck me about Arcade Gannon when I discovered him. In a wasteland full of chems, death, and misery, Gannon always struck me as a pillar of hope for an Independent Vegas going forward.
Fallout 4: Codsworth. I mean cmon. He waited 200 years for you to return and did nothing but clean your stuff until you came back. What a lad a homie. Then the second you come back he's ready to be friends again and take on the whole wasteland. What more do you want!?
Runner up Picks:

edit: yup... people really hated on preston despite him being one of the very few, unabashedly "good" characters in the whole series. i'm "all in with the minutemen" so i'm very fond of him. i myself can't pick "favorites", though. i always play with unlimited companions mods, so if someone's on my team, they are all my favorites.
in New Vegas: *literally everyone* 😂
in 4: Codsworth, Preston, Piper, Deacon, Cait, Curie, Dogmeat, Hancock, Nick, Ada, & Longfellow. (special mention of someone absent from here: Gage... "We are the Minutemen" mod + "Minutemen Take Over Nuka-World"... needless to say I did NOT put up with him. Raiders ain't it.)
Here are mine:
Fallout 1: Tycho, don't you know that he is a ranger before the NCR AND he is wearing the same desert ranger outfit as the survivor from honest hearts (don't recall his name or how is he being referring to), so for that reason to have an actual ranger is insanely cool and he stayed with me too the very end same with all of them (don't ask me how I managed to keep them all alive in mariposa, I don't remember)
Fallout 2: Gortis or goris (don't remember the name), I mean, he is a deathclaw!!!! I know that he needs to get rid of his robes and that can be annoying at the beginning of the fights but HE IS A DEATHCLAW COMPANION and he is gray :3
Fallout 3: I'd say butch solely because he can gave me a haircut at anytime and idk, I feel like having another vault dweller trying to survive the wasteland seems like seeing you but you are now helping.
Fallout New vegas: Cass is my favorite and Veronica too (I really like the hair of hers); I don't know about you all but the name rose of sharon cassidy kinda sounds cool for me and I even had a girlfriend that I liked to call her Cass for her last name (which was Castro btw) and not because I am obsessed with Cassidy but as to show my affection to her to put her that nickname like some people call them girlfriends babes and so on, so that was mine with her and she loved it (she even told me that I was very original by it lol).
Fallout 4: Deacon and curie and even hancock, I remember when I was younger that I didnt want to get rid of the railroad solely because of him but I didnt know at the time how to do the minutemen ending, so I chose the worst ending of all XD, but after some later playthroughs I am more in tune with hancock as his personality really sound like me because I am almost in line with him (in personality wise), so that is the reason and curie is so cute same with cat to which I am starting to like more now that I am old, but curie still has a place in my heart, dont matter if she is a synth, she is very cool.

My 3 favourite companions has to be Boom, Rex, Cait. And my 3 worst companions has to be dogmeat from Fallout 3, Strong, Preston Garvey.
The smaurai nobody can understand was pretty much the only thing I liked in MZ. I thought it was really funny. Otherwise, Nick, and then everybody from FNV.

So Fallout new vegas? Definitely Ed E hands down. Fallout 4? Has to be Nick because he is the goat BUT Piper is a great character. I really like her and i wish there could be more companion lines…i play this game 300 hours…and i have pipers dialogue after 20. So yeah that kind of sucks. Nick actually has more interaction in quests. But i still have to shit on bethesda. They make such an amazing game, and fallout 4 is amazing, but manage to leave it bare bone. They have a lot of great systems and they integrate the pip boy perfectly, they make good companion systems but dont use it to its potential. They make settlements but dont use them to their potential. Its annoying. They have good ideas in theory but never follow through.
