I’ve been learning to play I’ll Fly Away with basically a one finger melody and a couple of cords. Complete with slide. My first 3 string song! GDG. I play some uke so it’s not completely new. Great simple lesson for us newbies.

I agree completely with @timoflynn2531, in all the tries of my life I’ve never had the success of one evening after watching Del’s videos. God bless you sir! However, I can rarely see your strumming hand and my ear is not yet advanced enough to figure out what you’re doing there. But I have hope now that I will. Some day, I will.

I've just got my first cigar box guitar and looked at dozens of video lessons. Del, you are the first that has enabled me to make a half way decent sound. Absolutely superb lesson! Thank you so much.

Wonderful lesson as my life as a carpenter has left me with pretty much just 1 usable finger on my left hand.

Del, you hit on the intro to Jason Mraz' I'm Yours. I play it on a ukulele but now I'm plucking around on a three string to play it. Thanks for putting that two notes into my head!

If barre chords are proving troublesome, you can try pushing down with the side of your index finger instead of the pad, less likely to get dead strings. Otherwise, just practice! It'll get there as your hand develops the muscles and the muscle memory it needs.

@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Thanks, I'm learning a lot from you. Next question, are you using reverb on you amp? I'm using a Fender Champion 600 that doesn't have reverb. What would you recommend for an amp to get good sound?
