While I think you missed the mark on a few things about living in Iowa, for the most part, you hit the nail on the head with this one. Thanks Nick. Keep making great videos.
One summer night I had a flat tire on I-80 near Council Bluffs. While I was changing the tire a man came out of nowhere and kind of scared me. If I didn't know better I'd think he came out of the corn field. He said his car broke down and he'd been walking. He said he worked for Warren Buffett in Omaha.
I lived in Orange City for a short while and I loved it. Quiet, slow paced, nice people. Nothing happens on Sunday so you can literally just relax for the whole day. And whenever I got tired of the quiet, it was easy to just drive up to Sioux Falls. Sure the area has its drawbacks, like the lack of trees and the constant smell of pesticides in the air. It's obviously not for everyone, but personally I've never felt more at home than in Iowa.
I lived in Cedar Rapids for almost 2 years. It was one of the coolest adventures I have ever had. The people are friendly, there is always something to do, and a wide variety of restaurants. I would move back there in a heartbeat!
As a native Iowan, I was offended in the first 30 seconds. No one here under the age of 70 dresses like that. Most people here aren't even into firearms. Those who are, more likely are toting a rifle for hunting. Nobody, and I mean nobody, here talks like that. We are known here for our UN-accented speech. Perhaps you have us confused with Arkansas or Kentucky. 🤔🤔 I couldn't quite stomach the idea of watching the rest of your little film. But, assuming you continued in the same manner, *thank*you* for doing your part!! I think Iowa is the best kept secret in the U.S. Many thanks to you and other narrow-minded folks who help to keep it that way. 👍👍
I am also a proud Iowan (born and raised), and if you watch the whole video, I think his assessment was actually quite fare. And I appreciated his comedy.
Born and raised Cedar Rapidian! I do get tired of the snow in the winter but I can travel to warmer areas and then come home. A post from my school friend who relocated to Texas years ago…. “According to Texas Parks and wildlife, there are 400,000 to 500,000 alligators living in the state of Texas alone.” That is why I live in Iowa!!!!!
Being from extreme rural Nebraska and now living in SOuth Dakota with many friends and in-laws from IA we give them a lot of guff but honestly Iowa is the best of both worlds. Small town IA doesn’t seem to be depleting like their western neighbors. I attribute that to IA being in the sweet spot for ag industry especially farming. In NE and SD especially out west we don’t want to compromise range frowns for crop land cause then you lose valuable acres for beef production plus it’s so arris that it takes a lot of work to get a good yield.

Hi Nick, love your Unboxing states, I and my 11 siblings grew up on farmland, but it was in North California state. Thank you, Nick, for all you do to edit upload share on UA-cam give me something great to watch.
Iowa is the place where if you are broken down on the side of the road ppl will stop to help. I had a blow out on my tire passing through, a lady drove me to the nearest town, and a man gave me a tire and placed it on my car would not take any payment at all.
As a native Iowan who now lives in the Mountain West, I found this an informative video. Another interesting fact is Iowa has more golf courses per capita than anywhere else in the US.
Nick I've always thought that Iowa was the least distinctive state in the Union. There is nothing in particular that sets it apart from the states surrounding it. Which then makes it the most American state. And from what you've shown Iowa has much that is still very good about America.
Iowans are some of the most resilient people I know, and it's not just corn, corn and more corn. It's that we value other people. Sorry you missed the hard-working, honest and caring about your neighbors that makes up Iowa.
Born in Iowa, left at 18, no job for a short skinny kid. Visited it all my life, sometimes a half dozen times a year. I believe I have driven every national and state numbered highway in the state, many, many rural farm to market blacktops and thousands of gravel roads and dirt roads as well as a pasture or two... maybe a lot more than that when I was younger. Fair treatment of Iowa, sad to see the drugs and gangs, good to see people who really work hard and love the state.
Sadly, Mulhollands has recently burned down. The town of Malvern suffered a great loss here. So nice to see it again in this video! I moved here in my young 20's (SW Iowa) to a town of 5500 from a small city in AZ of 25,000. I loved the idea of it, but quickly hated it because of the lack of things to do for young people. but yet here i am now, 25 years later, I still get frustrated that i cant get certain things or have fun activities with out an hour drive to Omaha. But i love only driving 2 miles to work, only filling up on gas every 2 weeks, and knowing who my nieghbors are.
‘Boring’ is overused in this video😡. I was NEVER bored growing up and working there.I have always felt sorry for people who say they’re bored. People like them always strike me as being boring themselves - because their interests are so narrow!
You ain't right man, lol. Love your sense of humor. Secondly, I appreciate you showing us parts of America that don't get a lot of attention on major news sites. Loved this video series. One of the best watching experiences on UA-cam, without a doubt. And to all those asking for an unboxing of Canada series, my family and my wife's family and most of our friends have been living in Canada since before it was known by that name. Allow me to summarize: Every corner of this country is either cursed with miserable weather, impossibly unaffordable, as exciting as a load of bread, or, perplexingly, all of the above. Picture USA but without the cultural or scientific output, and with fewer stunning landscapes. There's a reason why so many Canadians end up in USA. Sadly, the cost of living has been rising and the quality of life here has been plummeting steadily for the past 20 years or so. The only reason anyone moves to Canada anymore is to flee an even worse country. Count yourselves lucky, Americans. You've got it pretty good in comparison.
Yes Iowans are nice people in General... Im not an Iowa native.. my family moved here from California when I was 3 years old and I've lived here basically my whole life ever since... 30+ years now I've lived in Iowa.. being raised in Iowa and growing up in Iowa certainly has been an interesting life experience... There's never seems to be a boring or dull moment living in Iowa... Iowans know how to stick together through terrible times and we help each other out even if you're a complete stranger in times of need... Iowa tough, Iowa strong... When times get tough IOWANS remain strong and resilient fighting Natural disasters together and cleaning up after them together and seems to bring Iowans closer together... Here's just a few natural disasters that brought IOWANS closer together since I've lived here in Iowa, Flood of 1993 , Iowa derachio 1998, flood of 2008, flood of 2017 and the most recent one Iowa derachio 2020.... IOWA just like every state does have it's ups and downs but Iowa all ways finds a way to bounce back rather quickly and faster than any other state in America with recovery efforts after a natural disaster happens or occurres
I joke with people that our lack of fear for personal harm is actually a cultural thing... watching tornadoes and the like. Lol. But yeah people from other places think it's a joke until they see people watching funnel clouds off of their balconies.

I currently live on Long Island, NY, but I'm thinking about moving to the midwest area. I looked at Des Moines, Nebraska, and various other places. Just looking for a cheaper and simpler lifestyle.
I can't speak from experience, but his video on Nebraska made it seem like Lincoln and Omaha (except the ghetto north part) seem like cool places with sort of the best of both worlds. I'm from Massachusetts where we love to toot our own horns about the supposed quality of our education (which is mostly anti-white ideology rather than actual math, science, and objectively taught history anyway), but look at Worcester MA: our roads look like fuckin' Afghanistan, there's litter everywhere with weeds poking out and rusty fire hydrants and crap, with aggressive low IQ people ready to kick your head in if you accidently step on their foot, or who would run you down with their cars and/or bikes rather than turn slightly. Nick's videos on Lincoln, Omaha, and Boise while filming showed beautifully maintained, trash free streets, less crowding, and people who seem like they don't want to bother anyone and don't need to prove their dick sizes to the world.
@@thegoodlydragon7452 I haven't watched any other of his unboxing videos but I'll check them out. I've heard mixed things about Omaha (mainly about the gangs) but I'm open minded if it has a lot to offer as well.

Iowa, is the best place to live. As a teen I thought I hated it. After working a career in the corporate world and living in 13 major cities coast to coast-I find I shall never ever want to leave here again. Like Dorothy in Kansas-there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
Fun Fact: Just west of Davenport is the world's largest truck stop! I visited it in May of 2020, and admittedly didn't get the full experience, mostly because COVID closed down the History of Trucking museum, but the truck stop itself was very interesting. It was mostly standard truck stop fare, with a few quirks that took advantage of the larger size. Trucker accommodations were on the 2nd floor, and there was a lot more shopping space. There was a second shopping area that had two or three 18-wheelers parked in there, and some stuff you'd never really find in other truck stops. Almost bought an electric guitar there, but there wasn't enough room in the car. There was also a food court with several fast food options, which aside from the layout is pretty common for a Travel America. Overall, it was a good experience, and also the only time I've been to Iowa

I have lived in florida now for 20 years but I grew up in Iowa and the one thing I miss the most is the beautiful hills.
Iowa, the home of Slipknot.
And Walter Eugene “Radar” O’Reilly ;)
Kinda sad that they're the only really notable rock band from Iowa.

As someone who has lived in iowa his whole life, this video is painfully accurate
The only part I don’t agree with is the liberal eastern part. I grew up in south East and everyone seemed to be conservative
I'm just 5 mintues in and want to maybe move to Iowa is that a bad thing? hahaha
@@MuayThaiGuy93we will welcome you if you move here, or even visit!
Nick, thank you so much for this Unboxing series, you covered all the states in a fun, entertaining and informative way, as a foreigner I learned a lot of everyday USA in those videos... wonderful job!
Great cool!!
I love how you incorporate old-timey videos in all of the videos you post. Thanks and keep up the great work!
I live in Camanche IA. We do not even have a stop light here. I love it. River life is so calming.
Your videos are so refreshing and helpful! Love them. As a healthcare provider moving to NE from FL and born in South America who knows NOTHING about the Midwest, learning about the geography of the neighboring states in such an organic way is great and helps me understand my patients and their background so much better! (And also the state I moved into! Lol) Thank you for this!
Glad to help!
While I think you missed the mark on a few things about living in Iowa, for the most part, you hit the nail on the head with this one. Thanks Nick. Keep making great videos.
I was raised in Council Bluffs and now live in Omaha Nebraska
that place will always be home
thank you for this Iowa video♥️
Ok!
Lived in Orange City myself for four years. Zackly as you describe.
Orange City is a beautiful town.
I couldn't quite stomach the idea of watching the rest of your little film. But, assuming you continued in the same manner, *thank*you* for doing your part!!
I think Iowa is the best kept secret in the U.S. Many thanks to you and other narrow-minded folks who help to keep it that way. 👍👍
Everyone thinks they don't have an accent, but they do.
I am also a proud Iowan (born and raised), and if you watch the whole video, I think his assessment was actually quite fare. And I appreciated his comedy.
I'm from Iowa too and your right
Midwesterns aren't backward Hicks either

I do get tired of the snow in the winter but I can travel to warmer areas and then come home.
A post from my school friend who relocated to Texas years ago….
“According to Texas Parks and wildlife, there are 400,000 to 500,000 alligators living in the state of Texas alone.”
That is why I live in Iowa!!!!!
Unboxed is over. Appreciate all the time you put into these videos!
been waiting for this vid for a long time. My mom born and raised in Iowa city and ive been visiting since i was a baby. (I grew up in California) after I graduate from University of Iowa its possible that I move there. Its amazing.
Okoboji!! 😎🙌⛵ This place is a hidden gem for seafarers. Fun fact for Mappy: Did you know the Spirit Lakes were formed by glaciers thousands of years ago during the ice age??
Mappy said yes he knew that BUT he lies about that crap a lot Krista
Hi Nick, love your Unboxing states, I and my 11 siblings grew up on farmland, but it was in North California state. I have great memories living on a farm from birth to 17 years of age My mom thought be good idea to move to a bigger city in 1970's I am way up in years these-day's, but I enjoy the younger generation uploading videos. Thank you, Nick, for all you do to edit upload share on UA-cam give me something great to watch.
On Darlene! Did you live near Stockton?
I just got offered a good, high paying job in central Iowa. I am considering it. This video is exactly what I was looking for. Well done & thank you
My husband and I are looking to move here within the next year so the info really helps!😀
Iowa is the place where if you are broken down on the side of the road ppl will stop to help. I had a blow out on my tire passing through, a lady drove me to the nearest town, and a man gave me a tire and placed it on my car would not take any payment at all.
Nice
That is Iowa for you!
Very true. Never had to be on the side of the road for a long time
As a native Iowan who now lives in the Mountain West, I found this an informative video.
@@sandrabarger1903 Thank you! Those are some of the reasons why I have lived all of my 54 years here! Thanks again!
Is it true that General American Accent resembles most to how Iowans talk? I get called for a few times that my accent is kinda bland.
@@heldig5617iowa is one of the few states with almost no accent. Southern Iowa starts to get that Missouri accent.
I moved from Fresno, California to Storm Lake, Iowa in 1995 for work. Iowa is a great place to raise a family and making money.
Concidentially Fresno is also a flyover place. That’s where all the planes coming from the East fly above when heading to OAK, SFO, and SJC.
In Fresno now trying to get the hell outta here
As a resident of said down I agree. Great place to be
What work do you do

Born in Iowa, left at 18, no job for a short skinny kid. Visited it all my life, sometimes a half dozen times a year. I believe I have driven every national and state numbered highway in the state, many, many rural farm to market blacktops and thousands of gravel roads and dirt roads as well as a pasture or two... maybe a lot more than that when I was younger. Fair treatment of Iowa, sad to see the drugs and gangs, good to see people who really work hard and love the state.
Been waiting so long for this one Nicky Boy!!!!! 😎 thank you!!!
I'm an Iowan Nick. Awesome video. Well done, accurate and comprehensive. Probably the best Iowa video in like forever. Great channel. Thank you again!
Forever!

Well, ending on a high note. That was interesting and some really good interviews.
For the past 4 days I have watched many of your videos that have shown me a gritty visual experience of what I knew but only read about. Bravo.
Nick this was a amazing video!! Thanks for giving a positive outlook on my home state. Also thanks for taking the time to talk to me about how boring my state is (just kidding, maybe not). Look forward to more videos in the future!!
If anyone's ever in Iowa, remember we're nice so say hello!

Amen to that but y'all are super neighbors
You have to admit that canada has some wonderful natural scenery tho. (Maybe its just because i love the colder climates)
Thank you for your HONEST appraisal of that frosty hell!!!
"Double, no triple our troubles and we would still be better off than any other people on Earth." - Ronald Reagan 🇺🇲
Nick you freaking rock, that intro was amazing! 🤣 thanks for all the legendary series!
Ok Alec
I’ve lived all over the country but I am originally from Central Iowa, currently living in Sioux City.
Thanks for all these videos Nick. You opened my eyes to alot of what's going on in other states and even shocked me with facts I wouldn't have known otherwise. Every state has something good and bad. But man.. how bad catches me off guard sometimes. It's so sad.
Now part 2 for every UNBOXING video please 🙏
As an Ioweegen , I can tell you that farming really barely pays the bills like most farmers we all have a side hustle to actually survive!!! You are correct the towns keep get smaller and smaller!!!

Great video, you are correct on almost everything, well done. Iowa has no extremes, hence not very exciting. But it hits the sweet spot on so many things that I call it “the hidden gem between the coasts”.
Information, Nick! You did not capture the real, true Iowa! I am a retired travel agent and have been in the travel industry for 50 years. I was born and raised in Iowa. I traveled most of my adult life. I am now in Iowa and the way the "world is economically and the direction it's taking"...safest, most sane place to be! Just saying!🇺🇸🙏✌
Can’t wait for the territories Nick! Please do Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷👍
Personally I live an hour from des moines, prefer it that way, I can drive to des moines if needed or wanted. But away from the capitol. Depends on what you're looking for, jobs are quite abundant, which is also part of why unemployment is so low in South Central Iowa
Des Moines is big, but there something about it that sucks. Iowa city is way better. You should look into that area of Iowa.
Des Moines for sure
This series was brilliant and me and my wife just found them. Funny as hell. Awesome job.
This is the Final State for your Unboxing State Videos.
I live about 20 mins from cedar falls. Decent sized town. I used to hate Iowa growing up. Now at 40, I love it. I feel safe, my kids go to a great school and its quiet. There's a lot of really pretty spots if you go explore.
Watching from Iowa!
I can’t believe this is the last Unboxing Video. 😭😭😭😭
