You probably don't remember but I saw you outside the tube stop after the marathon and gave you a quick congrats for completing it as I didn't want to bother you. This is an amazing achievement mate, great stuff!
Im 23 years old and had acl and meniscus surgery after playing competitive sports for over 5 years. I’m currently 2 weeks into recovery and the progress is slow and painful, nothing like I had expected it to be. Being so dependent on the people around you makes you so grateful for those who care about you and for the independence you normally have. It’s crazy how much I can relate to you and how motivating it is for me to watch you go through this and make it through like you did. Expected recovery is 8 to 12 months, it’s scary to think about it now and to think about all the difficult times to come during recovery. But watching this makes me want to do the “walk with me” (50km for charity) I did just over a year ago so badly again and I hope to walk it in 2024, that’s now my goal and I hope, that I, just like yourself, will be able to make it happen. Thanks Theo for the motivation and congratulations on the amazing achievement. I hope you play again in the sidemen charity match which I watched you play live last time. Keep up the hard work and best wishes for your future football days!
I’ve just turned 15 and currently 3 months after having an acl reconstruction and meniscus repair. I remember tearing it at 14 and crying for a long time because it seemed like I would never play sport again. For the first 6 weeks it was very painful but slowing I’m starting to make a slow return back to football. If I was to give 1 bit of advice even though I’m a lot younger than you would be to not give up, there will be times when it feels like progress is minimal but you will get there eventually 💪
my ex had ACL surgery a couple years back and within a year was back to playing college ball within a year, you'll get there in no time! trust the process and make sure to take care of your mental health throughout, jumping over psychological barriers was her biggest hurdle. best of luck with your recovery!!
Thanks for the kind and motivating comments guys! I’m currently on a single crutch, nearly able to get rid of it too already! Hope to be doing sports in August! 🎉
Had ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair in October, I’m now training to do a marathon by next October. This vid really motivated to keep pushing and do it!! Also yea that first run after not being able to run for like 4 months hit different, very emotional. Appreciate you Theo
love the video theo keep up the good work. I had a similar thing where after hernia surgery the doctor said I would be back playing football in 8 weeks whereas it actually took 6 months, it's annoying when doctors put that in your head, but at least gotta be grateful that I had the surgery.
It is friday as Im writing this, and Im going to run the Helsinki Marathon tomorrow morning. Couldnt be a better time to stumble upon this video. Well done Theo and thank you for giving me last minute motivation for my run
This video is amazing Theo I just had my hip replaced 4 months ago at 19 due to blood arthritis and not being able to walk anymore. I am now looking for my new sport that is safe and I get that buzz of this video has given me so much encouragement
Really well done! I've had the exact same surgery done in december, first cleared to run in the end of march. Now I'm training to do my first ever ultra marathon. I feel the pain you've gone through during the rehab process and people don't understand how hard it can be until they've experienced it! Really great motivation for me to keep training!
Go on Theo !!!! I know how it feels when your health stops you from doing things you love. But, one must always remember that bad times don’t last long. It takes a lot of determination to beat this but it is possible. I’ve had a similar story myself. Congratulations Theo and all the best for the future. 🎉
Been such an inspiration for me fitness wise. Seeing you push yourself makes me want to set similar challenges for myself. Hopefully this is the beginning of something special. Tuning into the strava everyday 😤
As someone who has trained on and off for a marathon for the last few years, this gave me the motivation to take training seriously and get it done. Respect to you Theo for the work and dedication, well deserved!
I had acl surgery a couple of months ago and have felt a bit down, still not able to do much, this video was great motivation for me to keep going. Thanks Theo, good job!
