This is a boutique exclusive. I mention that because those don't lose as much of their value due to their being rather hard to get. Like the blue polaris no date you can get for half off, but the polaris date blue is specifically a boutique exclusive and it is about 1-2k discounted on the secondary market.
Thanks Adrian. Love JLC, and love that you’ve made a video on the Polaris. The Polaris is a line I wish I liked, but with that diameter, thickness, and the look of the oversized indices and numerals, somehow it doesn’t add up (for me). It’s still a really intriguing proposition, and JLC’s take on a worldtimer / GMT is bloody awesome.
I I can definitely imagine the satisfying "mechanical" aspect of the time zone change; I have the Polaris date in green and changing the date has an extremely solid feel and an audible "clunk" with each change. Unlike any other date change I've used.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
Thank you Adrian - 100% agree. Lucky enough to get the first Polaris Geographic in the UK + the magnificent JLC bracelet. A remarkable watch for any regular traveller. It dresses up with a suit on the bracelet, and perfect with jeans on the fabric or rubber.
I really like the look of this watch as a no date Polaris owner. However, I do think it would be much better without the power reserve indicator. But all in all a watch I will be considering.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the MAMACOO, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in UA-cam,and I am your fan! I’ve been watching MAMACOO and buying them recently to complement my watch collection. Good video
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from MAMACOO
Tried it on at the JLC shop on Madison Avenue the week it was released, and you are 100% correct in your assessment. Gorgeous and dangerously tempting.
I’m astonished at the amount of love lavished on the Reverso when the Polaris range just so much more of a unique combination of beauty and practiccality.
Great review of a beautiful time piece. Had it not been for your review I would not have even known about it. And now I am thinking about how I can get my hands on it….beautiful
I received my Polaris yesterday (the time and date version), same dial as the one you showed in your fabulous video. I sold my Sub for this and don't regret it. I am wearing it on the sand colored NATO by Bark & Jack, looks breathtaking 😉🥰 I love the comfort of your NATOs (I originally bought this one for the Pelagos 39) they are really one of the bests.
I picked up this watch a few months ago upon release. I have to say it never gets old. Getting the nylon strap and the rubber strap is fantastic and you can add the bracelet if you want. The price isnt cheap, but its certainly a watch You buy for love not as part of the "investment" group. Watches are for buying and enjoying Rolex isn't an investment really any more. If your worries about the money, dont buy the watch. That being said JLC have go the prices slightly wrong and a little high I think still for some models. They did do a secret price drop of the Reverso about 6 months back though
Had the JLC Polaris Perpetual Calendar on the wrist and it's insanely incredible. Gorgeous. Pink gold and green. To get the Polaris Geographic at Rolex GMT-II money - honestly there is no contest for me personally but we all have our own tastes.
I own a Polaris Date in Green, which I love. And I had this one on my wrist in the boutique as well. It's a beauty and setting the second timezone is a pleasure. Thank for covering!!!
Adrian great video on a watch I didn't even know existed! How do you compare the Polaris Geographic vs Master Control Geographic? Love the JLC content!
Thanks for this review! Great job as always. I've been eyeing this piece ever since it was released. A bit pricey, but I always seem to come back to this when looking at alternatives. interestingly, I also have been looking at the Glashutte and IWC models you mentioned here. Wonder if you would compare the Omega World timer to this JLC as they both have the same complication?
I just wish JLC would go back to traditional sized models. Every since they worked with Aston Martin, they keep making Pie-plates for the wrist. I was a collector before that era, and if you don'e have one of those models, you are missing out. The Golden Proportion was their abiding rule, not anymore.
I was told some weeks ago that the Geographic has already been discontinued. Couldn‘t believe it since it just came out but the sales advisor was quite sure about this and it was an official JLC Boutique. Any info? Not much on Chrono too.
This may sound bit stupid but how does it calculate the summer daytime saving changes? Especially since some countries does it and some don’t these days..
Thought you said £40k, so when £14k flashed up on the screen I thought it was a bargain! 😂 Definitely a fun complication. Stands out compared to more boring watching at this price point. But anyone spending this much probably has all the boring/obvious watches in their collection too
Great review of a stunning timepiece. IMO Better examples of rival watches are the (Rolex GMT, Vacheron Dual Time, IWC Timezoner, Chopard LUC GMT One) as all are Lux sporty GMT/WT watches, rather than comparing it with Lux chrono's. Just a thought.
The watches with this movement and predecessors (JLC, VC, AP) are pretty much the best dual times - the gold thin JLC dress watches with it are my faves.
Was looking forward to this review. Great watch and hard to get, i don’t really understand the comparison watch choices as i was thinking alternative dual times, though i like them all too, especially the Glashutte.
I love the Polaris, but the poster boy IMO is the Polaris Mariner Memovox, that thing is simply stunning and with the mechanical alarm inside 👌🏼. Shame about the RRP though, especially when you see the second-hand prices! 😮💨 IMO the dial on this Geographic is too busy and messy. At that price and with JLC’s watch making expertise, I’d like to see them combine the second time zone and 24hr indicator sub-dials into the one 24hr dial. I’d like them to lose the power reserve indicator too. I want to be able to see as much of that gorgeous textured, fume, dial as possible 🤤
I agree. I would go as far as to say that this JLC is on par with the now impossible to find Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time LE. I am getting those vibes, for one.
Good review, I like this watch. It is different, without being weird. Functions that are functional for me, and the price is not out of my world. Yes, I could live with this one. Thanks for this review A.
I own the current generation Master Control Geographic and I absolutely adore it. Adrian is so right, the mechanical click when cycling through time zones is so satisfying. I had the opportunity to go hands on with the Polaris geographic about six months after purchasing my Master Control. Alas two $15k watches with the same movement were not in the cards for me. But the dial on the Polaris is truly mesmerizing in the metal.
I am a huge fan of JLC. I own a black dial Master Ultra Thin and looking to add a mmonphase or a Polaris. Someday a Master Control Chronograph Calendar in Pink Gold will be added.
The day/night indicator is for the distant timezone, not the local one - in the local timezone you already know whether it's day or night, the indicator is there because you have no idea whether it's day or night in the DISTANT timezone. Therefore this watch is effectively an Office GMT not a true GMT, because that second timezone is for a DISTANT timezone, not your local timezone, due to the fact the day/night indicator is slaved to it, not to the main hands. So you would need to change the main hands to your local timezone when you travel and leave that second timezone where it is.
I think it's a brilliant watch. As someone who will probably only buy 1 or 2 luxury watches in his lifetime, it would be hard to select this over something else. Say, I wanted a Reverso for my dress watch, I'm not likely to go a JLC for my sporty watch. But if I weren't to get a Reverso, then this would 100 percent be up there in my choosing for a sports watch.
Thanks Adrain for another wonderful video. I'm a fan of JLC. It's a nice piece but I think the skeleton hands, though serve a purpose take away from legibility, especially in low light. The other issue is the " the mole" crown at 10 o'clock. Like the seamaster. Just hideous sadly imo. Generally love the Polaris though.
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MAMACOO has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Your mannerisms really remind me of Harold Bishop from Neighbours. He was always dithering and needlessly emphasizing things with his expressions too. Until he tragically got amnesia, of course. Then he was just confused all the time.
True but they kind of brought this upon themselves with the excessive price hikes over the last years. Not that the watches are not "worth" it but regarding their market share and the competition it was kind of obvious they would go under.
Interesting. My first idea for an alternative would have been an omega seamaster aqua terra worldtimer on a rubber strap or - mainly coming from the second crown - maybe even an omega seamaster planet ocean 600m GMT.
Definitely has strong Vacheron Constantin Overseas Everest vibes--almost the exact same colorway, same dual time adventure watch intent, and both on fabric straps. Just on a much smaller budget.
Having the small sub-dial local time rather than home time makes no sense for the traveler jumping between time zones. This is intended as a caller GMT (why else tie the day/night indicator to local time). Other than that, it’s a beautiful watch.
I have a Polaris Mariner Date with a blue dial and 2 years old, bought it by selling my Rolex (no regrets). If I had to only have a one watch collection, it would be this.
beautiful watch! but, i find it too expensive for what it is and what you can buy for that same/similar amount. but id still love to get it...just at a lower price point...
Agree...but not at retail - wait a few years and pick one up for almost 1/2 the retail cost.😊
Absolutely. I'm getting ready to pick up the Q9038180 and that's already lost 8-10k
This is a boutique exclusive. I mention that because those don't lose as much of their value due to their being rather hard to get. Like the blue polaris no date you can get for half off, but the polaris date blue is specifically a boutique exclusive and it is about 1-2k discounted on the secondary market.
Recently picked up the Mariner Memovox for 50% off preowned. It’s fantastic
Polaris and JLC in general don’t lose that much of their value. 😅 they lose a little but are one of the better luxury watches keeping their value
Are you one of those who pays more than retail for a Rolex? 🤣
I love a good world timer. This one pulls off the complication without being too busy. Love it.
As always the most thoughtful , well researched & eloquent watch channel around , MAMACOO keep coming !
Thanks Adrian. Love JLC, and love that you’ve made a video on the Polaris. Now THIS is freaking cool!
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the MAMACOO’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
I have the JLC master control geographic. Essentially same watch, just in a dressier suit. One of my favorites to wear!
Tried it on at the JLC shop on Madison Avenue the week it was released, and you are 100% correct in your assessment. Gorgeous and dangerously tempting.
My favorite watch channel without a doubt.I’m happy to spend my money on MAMACOO watches. I’ve never been let down by their products
Great watch, even better review.
You are killing it, mate.
Keep it up.
Outstanding video.I have to go with the MAMACOO, especially with that green dial as my favorite
I’m astonished at the amount of love lavished on the Reverso when the Polaris range just so much more of a unique combination of beauty and practiccality.
0:56 why is the second hand shaking when setting the time?
Because this is a watchmaker‘s watch.
@@danr6175 I hope that’s sarcasm that’s lost on me 😂
It keeps dual times
@@Casa1000😊👍🏻
I remember when they used to use gold rotors, not tungsten... Kind of bizarre especially with their crazy price increases.
I want a platinum rotor at this price.

MAMACOO!Every time you exhibit one of these watches I become super tempted to get one.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for MAMACOO watch makers
For how much everyone complains about the Seamaster He escape valve, surprised to not see anyone complaining about the wart on this
People get their opinions from the internet. They haven't been told not to like this one.

Does your watch back case written limited edition 1 of 250?
This Jaeger-LeCoultre is a tremendous step forward. It looks gorgeous.
MAMACOO's always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of watch 99% of people will never see.

Thanks a lot mate 🙌🏻

@Bravogiovanni I have thr grey chrono. Fantastic. I wear it most days and love it. I put it on leather and it is a stunner

@@dropthebag Very nice. I’ve never seen it on the leather. However, I am a big fan of the rubber.
Love it.. This will give you so much personal satisfaction, although the strap isn't my favorite thing. A JLC Polaris is my next purchase.
is it better than a Cubitus though?
I'm genuinely impressed with how close MAMACOO were able to replicate every aspect of this very very goofy looking classic watch.
Adrian great video on a watch I didn't even know existed! How do you compare the Polaris Geographic vs Master Control Geographic? Love the JLC content!
Great review and I've been eying this one from afar. Any other timezone/gmt recs to compare to this one?
Love this watch and your videos. Do you have the lug to lug distance of this model?
Ever since I bought a watch from MAMACOO, My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
Thanks for this review! Great job as always. I've been eyeing this piece ever since it was released. Amazing watch really special but if you had to choose between this and a polar Explorer II for less money which one you take? Great video!

How are they preowned? This or a Cartier Santos dual time? I’d probably take the Cartier
This may sound bit stupid but how does it calculate the summer daytime saving changes? Especially since some countries does it and some don’t these days..
Weird question, is the 24 hour indicator for the first or second time zone?
How does this compare to the Omega Seamaster Worldtimer? Seems like a very similar use case.
Always, J&L produced great movements and very nice designs. One of the most finest watch in this industry

I saw at the Bark&Jack website that the enamel mugs are not listed anymore, although there is the title for those. Is there a reason or is it a bug?
Out of stock. They'll be back soon!
God!!! MAMACOO Who would have thought those gorgeous watches go for that low!!!
Absolutely STUNNING! Competing with the green Overseas dual time for best looking watch of the year!
It's a beautiful watch, I would take the regular green boutique one !

Jlc all day long in my opinion
@@MAELOB omega
For aesthetics JLC all day. The omega when looking at the dial, nothing stands out and looks busy.
Stunning watch, so much more unique and elegant than rolex
Honestly Love JLC Polaris line. Would prefer this function to a normal GMT. Can't afford it, but love it all the same.
Love this thing. Very nearly bought it but chickened out. Glad to have my feelings towards it validated! Will stalk it on the used market!
In love with JLC… this watch, no exception & super as usual…

Great video. Am I the only one that feels the "Glashütte" logo (the font) kills it for me.
I Like the way you implemented sketches and handwriting in your Video. Very cool 😎 👍
Overseas Everest vibes. Also, a decent comp would be Bathyscaphe annual calendar or similar
For me the polaris memovox and perpetual calendar are the top polaris models.
Nice one Adrian 👍
21 mm straps should be outlawed 😌
Great looking watch. It would have been even better without the day/night and power reserve complications.
Fantastic watch and review! Might be my new favorite!
