At the higher end they're using interesting in-house movements like in the Rieussecs and the Minerva watches speak for themselves. Montblanc's issue is more branding and people not being comfortable spending that much money on their watches, probably because they make pens and aftershave etc...

@@MsChrishanson Can I speak of them in the same sentence if I'm referencing my PAM 190? Hard not to given that it contains the Panerai version of the JLC 877 movement. Outstanding movement BTW.
Great video but there seems to be a problem here. You evaluate most of the watches based on where they are in their segment and "lane" and what they are currently offering in a fair way. Great. That's until you really like a particular (mostly expensive and high end) watch and then they get bumped up to the upper two categories, even though they should meet the expectations (generally) at where they sit in the sector. One evaluation is from a connoisseur within the watch world, the other is what you like. More objective versus subjective. It is innovation, expectation, or what you like? One can buy a very traditional, non-vanguard brand and still love and buy them. Which is wouldn't be a problem, either of them, to do in a video! But fusing these perspectives into one single video comes across a bit strange. Come on, ICW and AP are absolutely stellar brands, but they are doing as expected. Boringly so. A welcomed boringly so, I might add. For example, Cartier and FC are doing way more explorative and out there stuff that are beyond what is typical for these brands. This is all encapsulated in your opinion of Hublot, in your own words. In all a fun video (which I would love to see more of, for sure!) but a bit unbalanced in your appreciation. All the best!
Good for you for putting Hublot up there at number 1, Adrian. I think that's totally nuts but I'm really impressed that you are acknowledging some of the truly fascinating designs they're putting out and not joining the chorus of haters. Great video.
Having just come off of a John Wick binge I'm wondering what the watch enthusiasts view of Carl F Bucherer is at the moment. They seem to make very good quality yet somewhat ubiquitous watches. I think they are an interesting example of how a perfectly good watchmaker can fly under the radar for no other reason than just brand recognition.
I've just done the same, watched all 4 episodes over a week and then googled what they were all wearing when Winston gave Jonathon 60 minutes.. Surprisingly affordable, beautiful looking watches.
Great tier list. Wondering where you would put Alpina. I feel this brand is often overlooked, but the brand has so much history and still offers great value watches. I love my old Startimer chronograph!

Your arrangement of criteria really made me smile. But it was also very interesting how the individual watch brands are distributed. Very honest, but of course it also shows that it is your own personal taste. For example, I would banish Zenith to the other end. That would also apply to Tudor, but otherwise I can understand the arrangement very well.

Not a very good piece of data to use here considering Rolex only makes 1.2 million watches a year, I.e they sold out this year. Swatch has an average sale of under $200. You should compare total sales for the year if you want to talk about popularity. Units sold is a poor metric.

There gorgeous watches but, I think he feels they need to cater for the smaller wrist. Mind you they have a lovely selection of ladies watches. Personally I own the senator excellence white dial.
Adrian knows nothing about the brand. He said the SeaQ needed to be smaller, failing to remember there’s a 39mm variant. He made no mention of GO’s other incredible pieces. If the brand needs improvement anywhere, it’s marketing.
The only thing I'd improve about them is the thickness and maybe the power reserve on some movements. But those are minor nitpicks. For the prices they are asking the watches are close to perfection. I'd rate them at exceeds expectations at least, if not higher.
Hamilton is top tier for me. Love the designs, their ties to the military and entertainment industry, the promotions they do and the value for money. Fantastic.
Thanks for the video! Nice rating. One small note, SeaQ panorama date is even bigger than 42 mm, it's 43.2mm which makes me even more sad because the watch is gorgeous :(
So refreshing to see a tier list that isn't just a memefest. I actually agree with all of your takes. Although I'm a bit confused why you wanted the GO SeaQ panodate smaller when the non-panodate is 39mm, I generally agree with you for their other models. The Senator Excellence and Pano watches are fantastic designs, but just don't work at 40mm. It was a letdown when I tried them in person and the proportions were all wrong.

@@MsChrishanson Can I speak of them in the same sentence if I'm referencing my PAM 190? Hard not to given that it contains the Panerai version of the JLC 877 movement. Outstanding movement BTW.
WTF is ‘disaplinary’😂🤣
Tudor is a beloved brand by the watch community because they are affordable and they listen to their customers, where Rolex does neither.
Would have loved to see you rank Parmagiani Fleurier. The Tonda is just aces!
Pretty fair review.
You mentioned the Glashutte Original should do a Seaq in 39?
Then do , do a Seaq in 39.5mm 😂
I want the SeaQ panorama date in 40mm.
@@BarkandJack I totally agree. A 40mm pano date and open case back would be a beautiful watch. Fingers crossed
The problem is that the Panoramadate is so much better, it's hard to settle for the regular SeaQ. If it was 41mm x 13.5mm, it would be incredible.
True comment
Grand Seiko need to sort themselves out. The smashed it 3 years ago however since they are stagnant. Why can’t the launch a bracelet that’s great
Agreed
The problem is Grand Seiko make dress watches with the thickness of divers. Can't enjoy the beautiful dial work when it's on top of a hockey puck.
CFB is one of the best watchmakers ever, been around since 1888 and still killing it and they use in house movements
Great tier list.
Wondering where you would put Alpina. I feel this brand is often overlooked, but the brand has so much history and still offers great value watches.
I love my old Startimer chronograph!
Piaget rank?
Nice illustration, thanks Adrian. But I would suggest to move away the “would buy” tier, and put those brands into other tiers, which would make the list more interesting and complete. 😉
I take your ratings more seriously than Nico. I think Rolex are overhyped though. You own an iwc but haven't reviewed it yet?
The production quality feels like it’s getting better and it was already astonishing, keep up the excellent work! Going to pick up a Bark and Jack strap for my Longines Zulu 39. Love from Toronto
Picked up my first Panarai this year, 40mm GMT, absolutely stunning.
Nice one! Just never try to sell it..EVER as there is more chance of meeting a Dodo than finding a buyer for Panerai on the 2nd hand market ;)
@ And yet they sell every day on Chrono24….
@@wolfypics7339 Nonsense. I buy and sell Panerai all the time. There is a very active market. You cannot walk into the AD and pay full retail and expect to get out of the watch in 6 months with most of your money. Nor can you with any brand really (Rolex being the one glaring affordable exception). If I sit down and add up all the buys and sells with the Panerai segment of my collection, I'm money ahead, quite a bit. Enough to buy another Panerai actually!
Thanx @Adrian for a serious list without all the bangs and whistles other watchtubers do. A pleasure to watch!
You miss the ROLEX category of 'Aren't allowed to buy new, without a list and a kidney'
Fun video! I see a lot of thought in your rankings. Also, nice contrast between your and Nico's rankings on certain brands (Hublot particularly 😁), but I am surprised you excluded Tissot from your rankings.
Very fair, except for Panerai and making some beautiful watches, I see lots of cool entrepreneurs wearing them, for shepards not sheep like rolex
Almost vomited reading this comment...
That’s probably due to the fact that your mind is full of vomit
@@MPD90 Yep druggies these days everywhere rofl
@@MPD90 Probably worth seeing a doctor if a simple comment can elicit such a response.
@@richjohn9356 Do you see yourself as a bit of a Shepard then John-boy? Are you a 'rich john' due to your entrepreneurial endeavours? Do you have a Panerai on your wrist wee Johnny? 🤮
Mido, Baume, Casio, Maurice Lacroix, Tutima, Certina, Nomos, Piaget, LV, Fortis and the biggest of them all: Apple.
This was nice. I hope to see more longer videos from you. What I have really enjoyed from you in the past is the very simple videos of you just talking with us.
As a fellow HR person, good job on differentiation - a bit top heavy but close to 20-70-10 distribution :) Now make sure to put everyone on the bottom 10 on a PIP!
🤣
You should review Hanhart watches, like the 417 es Flyback chronograph.
Panerai are about to absolutely kill it. I enjoy them now while there are steals on the second hand market and they’re flying in your face under the radar. Watch this space. MPGA.
Have you had a knock to the head recently?
@@patekphilippetimepieceMake Cubitus Great Again
What is "it" they are killing? Their business?
@@heiner71 watch this space
The only thing they are killing is their own business. Their brand is 40 years out of date!
Hanhart, Squale, Habring and Lang & Heyne would be the omissions I would have liked to have seen.
Yes Habring for sure. Also perhaps Dornbluth.
Nico can't be taken seriously anymore as he evolved from watch enthusiast to money lover. Thanks for your tier list which makes more sense overall.
Absolutely agree, he is such a money grabbing clown! 😂
You are one shallow individual to be making those assumptions when i'm 99.9% you have never interacted with him ever nor you ever will.
@@NicoLeonard I'd rather trust the opinion of someone like Nico who's entirely independent and wealthy enough to buy his own watches than that of someone who's beholden to particular watch brands for their living.
That's NOT Adrian either - and I also trust his opinion. But not all watch UA-camrs are quire as scrupulous as this pair.
Love the way this is structured, love the TG "Cool Wall" reference even more!
7 and half minutes in and waiting for Adrian to get to Bremont😁
😂one word… Shit
@@matthewdale956 Even shite is too for them as shite makes good fertiliser..unfortunately nothing comes good from Bremont these days.. My local dealer has had a 33% sale on all their watches..started about 8 months ago and still on..I think they managed to sell 1 out of about 20 watches in stock in 8 months and 33% off...can't give them away!
The difference between Nico and Adrian Tier list is that Adrian's list involves consumers' perception of the brand, whilst Nico is of business POV.
LOVE the IWC Mark XX with the brilliant bracelet and gorgeous blue dial.....
DeBethune, Arnold & Son, Armin Strom, Angelus, FP Journe, Chanel (Monsieur Superleggera Black is the only one I’d consider) & HYT!

Not a very good piece of data to use here considering Rolex only makes 1.2 million watches a year, I.e they sold out this year. Swatch has an average sale of under $200. You should compare total sales for the year if you want to talk about popularity. Units sold is a poor metric.
@@cdaack
Your maths fail. LOL....
Rolex sold 1.2 million watches with an average price of roughly $10000, therefore they nearly earned $12,000,000,000. What makes you believe 1.2 million watches isn't too bad? Please place 1.2 million watches in a store or home.....How would you be able to fill it?
With an average sale price of $200 (as according from u) for 5,800,000 watches, swatch made $1,160,000,000. Do you consider this a low metric given their earnings?
One of the sensible lists, fab job. Some brands I would love for you to include in the future - Nomos, Rado & Junghans . Would also love for you to review an HMT watch some day. A heritage brand from India
17:04 don't lie - if you had the cash, you'd just buy more Rolex
Pretty cool list, every point of view is valid. You missed Tissot, Certina and Mido for what I can remember of the top of my head.
12:35 wondered why he skipped Jacob and co.😅
why
That comment about Longines is so true, when I see their watches, I can help but to think of Christmas shopping at H Samuel’s
Perhaps the most logical and fair tier list I’ve seen. Cheers from Finland ☕️🇫🇮
More B&J straps at Time and Tide Melbourne, please 🙏🏼
Glashutte needs improvement?!
More a question mark! The brand creates stunning watches with a high suffisticated finish. When you own one of these you will feel that it is outstanding.
@@PatrickSittinger I’ve never owned one but absolutely love them. The level of craftsmanship and detail for that price point is impressive.
I would say that your tier list is much more respectable and rational than Nico's was
Tissot?
British spelling of disciplinary?
No. Dyslexia most likely
Nope
Hamilton is top tier for me. Love the designs, their ties to the military and entertainment industry, the promotions they do and the value for money. Fantastic.
G-Shock is a must to buy
Thanks for the video! Nice rating. One small note, SeaQ panorama date is even bigger than 42 mm, it's 43.2mm which makes me even more sad because the watch is gorgeous :(
You underestimate Omega, they're Rolex's biggest competitor and, in many ways, better (I own both).
😂
He owns both as well and said he buy both again.
Believe me when I tell you that Rolex is not worried about Omega. Not even a little bit
would love a British brand tier list only on new releases. not to hate but to shine a light on them more than anything
I think Tag Heuer now exceeds expectations for sure!
Tier list started strong then went bad. The rating system didn't help
Love the metal coffee mug, and wish your store had them available.
Out of stock, will be back soon.
Damn…your would by is exactly what I would have …except Hublot
You made the best scale ever! It's very smart and you should do it more :)
