Regarding sitting in a car. My friend is well over 400 lbs. I drive an older car, and she acted personally attacked when the seatbelt couldn’t go around her. She had to sit in the backseat and she was SO pissed. Like you said, it was as if she was accusing the car of not accommodating her.
my roommate is like this. she’s 500lbs. any chair that doesn’t fit her, she calls fatphobic. like one time we were at the pharmacy and there were chairs by the pick-up window. i sat down to wait for her script to be filled and when she saw she couldn’t fit in the chairs, she goes, “i don’t want to wait over here with the fatphobic chairs.” i was like …okay i guess ill stand🙄

It ain't fatphobic period if you're losing weight just to make yourself happy, look better, feel better, or whatever reason you want. I have slightly high blood pressure. It's controlled by meds right now, but the doctor assures me that if I lose 30--putting me at the lower end of normal range--my BP will drop and we can remove the medication. I'd rather do that, so I'm changing my habits long-term.
I’m twice Amber’s age, broke my hip last Monday, and had surgery this past Tuesday. As of yesterday, I can put my own socks on! Amber’s excuses boggle my mind! 😮

If she had all those struggles being over 100 pounds lighter (and years younger) than she is now, how are we suppose to believe she's doing so much better/is so mobile now?

I wont lie, i hate those glas shower doors. I hate them because they suck to clean. When we bought our home we had those doors. I took the doors off and out up a shower curtain. They could have taken the doors off and out them up somewhere safe, put up a curtain rode and shower curtain and solved her problem. Since they were renting all they had to do was out them back up before moving out. Instead of doing something simple she would rather whine about it and make it a huge deal and use it as a excuse not to shower

I’m in a wheelchair and have an obvious spinal deformity and people are always looking at me when I’m out in public. It bothered me a lot as a tween/teen, but once I hit college and grew some self confidence and a figurative spine (not a literal one, that came in my 30s when I got a titanium spine), I no longer cared when people stare. They will always stare, so I just go about my busy day and don’t even notice it any longer. As for Amber using the handicapped stall in public, of course she needs to use it. She can’t fit into a regular stall, so where else is she going to pee? She just needs to admit that she has disabled herself with food and inactivity and needs to be counted among the physically disabled. Im not sure why she refuses to acknowledge this fact. I just can’t imagine complaining about all these self-inflicted problems when there’s a very simple solution to all of them. Lose weight and become a productive member of society. Geez.

I hate this series so much because of the way she paints these struggles as if they can’t be prevented or fixed. Even the title that Amber chose for this series reeked of her ever-present victim mentality. 'Struggles being me" should have been something more like "consequences of letting myself get to over 500 lbs" or even just "struggles of being my weight" would have sounded a little more like she was taking some accountability for what she's done to herself because even though she mentions how certain things are so embarrassing for her and are pathetic, it really does feel like she's just blaming these things instead of herself. Like when she talks about people staring in public and for a second you think she has a little moment of clarity when she says that she understands why but then she goes on and makes it sound like that's actually not true and she just thinks that people are extremely rude for noticing how massive she is. You can really see Amber's denial and resistance to admitting that she is the size that she is when she's talking about possibly breaking furniture or falling through a floor. It's like the entire time she's fighting within herself because half of her wants people to feel sorry for her and see her for the victim that she believes she is but her ego refuses to allow her to admit that she's so big that she's absolutely capable of breaking beds, couches, toilets, you name it. And the way that she made her being capable of ever breaking a toilet or a bed, etc sound so crazy and ridiculous just makes me think that she's absolutely broken both of those things in the past. If she's never broken any of those things then I doubt she would be so consumed with fear about it. But it was really the way she said "like whhaaat?" because whenever she does that it almost always means she's lying. But Amber does have that ever constant battle within herself because she always wants to be seen as the victim. But she also has an ego as big as she is so she will never fully take accountability for her weight or anything else.
Everytime I watch her I think about her constant UTIs and don’t even understand how she lived that way. Feeling disgusting and uncomfortable all the time. And the not showering… idk how she does it . I hate feeling unclean.

when I was 300+ pounds, I would do the same with theater seats, when I went in 2019. I didn't have to raise up the seats but it made it much more comfortable. I can't imagine how someone like ALR could even try to do the theater thing. It's like the airline thing and requiring a large person to get two seats....unless your that one airline and they steal a seat for you from a paying customer.

Apartment and rental properties fall under this category. It’s a shame she did it to herself… everything. It's never really too late until the heart monitor flatlines. It gets a bit more difficult to lose weight, but even I can do it at 55.

I hate this series so much because of the way she paints these struggles as if they can’t be prevented or fixed. Like yes it is hard being obese I won’t deny that but she wasn’t born this way she did this to herself and can fix it. I know it’s hard but good god. The way she talks about it is as if she was a paraplegic or smthn 😭 She treats it as if it’s things that happen to her but SHE DOES IT TO HERSELF!
Even the title that Amber chose for this series reeked of her ever-present victim mentality. 'Struggles being me" should have been something more like "consequences of letting myself get to over 500 lbs" or even just "struggles of being my weight" would have sounded a little more like she was taking some accountability for what she's done to herself because even though she mentions how certain things are so embarrassing for her and are pathetic, it really does feel like she's just blaming these things instead of herself. Like when she talks about people staring in public and for a second you think she has a little moment of clarity when she says that she understands why but then she goes on and makes it sound like that's actually not true and she just thinks that people are extremely rude for noticing how massive she is. You can really see Amber's denial and resistance to admitting that she is the size that she is when she's talking about possibly breaking furniture or falling through a floor. It's like the entire time she's fighting within herself because half of her wants people to feel sorry for her and see her for the victim that she believes she is but her ego refuses to allow her to admit that she's so big that she's absolutely capable of breaking beds, couches, toilets, you name it. And the way that she made her being capable of ever breaking a toilet or a bed, etc sound so crazy and ridiculous just makes me think that she's absolutely broken both of those things in the past. If she's never broken any of those things then I doubt she would be so consumed with fear about it. But it was really the way she said "like whhaaat?" because whenever she does that it almost always means she's lying. But Amber does have that ever constant battle within herself because she always wants to be seen as the victim. But she also has an ego as big as she is so she will never fully take accountability for her weight or anything else.
Everytime I watch her I think about her constant UTIs and don’t even understand how she lived that way. Feeling disgusting and uncomfortable all the time. And the not showering… idk how she does it . I hate feeling unclean.
It amazes me how many things that should have been wakeup calls, would have been for most people, that she actively ignored

She acts as if she’s a victim and these are the consequences of her victimhood. But she’s in CONTROL of all of this. Sometimes shame is a good thing if it motivates you to CHANGE. It is what it is. We should ALL feel shame about things that we do that are hurting ourselves and others. Sorry. Not sorry.

Yes, Amber, people in public can be cruel. I don't condone that behavior at all. However, you can't expect to change other people's behavior. You can, however, get out of your own way, and lose weight and those problems and SO many others, would disappear

when I was 300+ pounds, I would do the same with theater seats, when I went in 2019. I didn't have to raise up the seats but it made it much more comfortable. I can't imagine how someone like ALR could even try to do the theater thing. It's like the airline thing and requiring a large person to get two seats....unless your that one airline and they steal a seat for you from a paying customer.
I hate to be that person but dear Amber please say it to people from third world countries struggling with hunger, wars, poverty and sickness. Im not saying we should not complain bacause some people have worse but her struggles are just ridiculous...

I was thinking when she said in the first part that her back pain is embarrassing and you didn't quite understand it. I think what she tried to say was that it is emabrrasaing to her to have so horrible pain only after 2min of standing. Pain itself is not embarrassing but the fact she can stand barely 2 minutes.
