I'm hearing good things about the River Floating adventures on the Nam Lik River. Alot of floating restaurants and bars on the way down stream. Have you heard about this?
It's stunning! I stopped by for a quick lunch on the floating restaurants and a swim around the time I first arrived in Laos. I'd say be quick though because places like these it's not long before it's built up too much and the trash is mounting. Or perhaps they can manage the trash like they seem to do in Vang Vieng along the river so it's beautiful even as built up as it is, buttttt the amount of people and these noisy as hell longtail boats really destroys the peaceful natural atmosphere. Right now, on Nam Lik it's getting quite touristy which brings the people that like to blast their music in the floating bungalow right next to you. Still super beautiful and worth going.

They stole your motor bike twice? That’s unbelievable and you can’t report to police because they want money.
Yes sirrrr. I always say the first year in a new place comes with all the trials and challenges, but once you're settled in that second year and beyond are awesome. One bike stolen by the riverside while I was enjoying the evening with some friends and the other right out of my gated rental house in the middle of the night with no trace of anybody ever coming onto my property. You can report it to the police, but they aren't looking without getting paid and then paid again if they find it. The likelihood of them finding a stolen bike here is so low as well with people being able to strip them or ship them off far out into the country right away. Not a big worry though and an easy solution. Put it securely away at home and when out park where there is the dirt cheap ticketed parking with a parking attendant and lock the bike steering column.
