Generally we use the word ແມ່ for mom, and use the word ແມ້ when calling our own mom or when needing her attention.

Hi Berry, Every province have their own accent. Or the tone you said were correct they were just from Vientine or southern Laos. People from southern lives or Pakese, the word would spelled with the D sound but they pronounced it with the L sound. It’s just the accent is different in every province unless they are from the hill tribes then they have their own dialogue.
