Thank you for the reply, it's sounds like it's perfectly safe to have the healtech fitted then. I shall Be getting one after the first service, and that'll be when the weather is better so I can ride more often. Haha
In the video, the throttle valves(butterflies) were manually manipulated. That's a no-no on a ride-by-wire machine because the servo motor can be damaged and won't respond to throttle input correctly. This may be the cause of the hanging idle.
Hi, I have the exact same bike and would like to put a healtech quickshifter on after the first service. (450 miles to go) I heard bad things on these bikes about quickshifters. Especially the ignition ones. I had the healtech on a husky nuda900. And it was great. I think these are fuel/injection ones so don't create problems with the "shims" would be good to see vids with the quickshifter in action on the road and maybe a review. Safe riding!
Hi. Yes, its been som issues with the ignition cut ones. Thats why I went with the Healtech quickshifter since it cuts the fuel and you will not get an small exolosion in the sylinder each time you shift. My friend had this kit mounted on his 1290 last year and it worked perfect, I will probably make a small video with testing the quickshifter when the snow is gone :)
Great video mate, i just placed my order for the new 2017 Super duke R, i cant wait. Was wondering if you could answer a few Questions please. 1 - would you drop the front sprocket to a 16? 2 - what Power parts / mods would you suggest for best value for money 3 - is there any benefit from changing from a 525 chain set to a 520 chain set? thank you Karl
Thanks! :) Thats nice, how long do you have to wait to get it? :) For my kind of driving Im very pleased with the original sprockets, wheelies is not a problem. My first choice of powerparts would be the tail tidy and the tank protectors. I also like the clutch/brake levers and orange cylinder cap for brake and clutch. With my driving wich is most on streets and backroads I dont think I will notice any difference, but if there are any benefits from changing I really cant answer since I havent tried it myself. My opinion is to use that money to buy something else nice for your bike and when the chain and sprockets are worn out you can try to change to a 520 chain :) Hope that helped you out :) -Kai
Thanks mate, I have to wait till feb march time, I'm defiantly ripping off the exhaust and saving a shit load of weight, just tossing up which one to put on as there are some amazing systems on the market which look and sound brilliant. Im thinking Exhaust, air filter, hand protectors and some stealthy looking mirrors of some sort, then dunk run to make it all run better. thoughts
Is it hard to setup the qs yourself ? And also do you run the akra map on your bike or are you thinking about getting a powercommander or somthing like that
Jelle Peeters It was not hard to set up, just put in some base numbers on the cut time and others in the menu, and tested it. Didnt need alot of adjustments to get it where I wanted. Running a akra map on the bike.
Hi. After you carried out these mods with the Akra map, does the bike still do that burble and little backfires on closed throttle when slowing down etc? I would leave the SAS in if it doesn’t. I like that.
Hi. In Norway we dont have the canister mounted, but the reason I removed it was when they installed the acra map the sas would not longer work, I think this is a option tho. And you dont need that extra heat when you dont have the cat, but I must say I miss the pops and bangs it had with the sas mounted :)
Thanks! Remap is the first thing Im gonna do before the summer, and also deactivate the SAS system since the engine light is now turned on because the motor is removed.
Hey bro, sweet ride! Listen, i have a quick question if you dont mind answering. I have the same setup like you except the QS, so I was wondering, what did you do to remap the ecu? Did you use Akrapovic map or did you do it in dyno? Engine light is popping on mine due to fueling issues since i removed SAS system and Cat as well. Thanks!
danilo Radulovic Hi. Thanks. Used the akra map with cat delete and sas removal. And havent got any issues after the remap. Only drove it carefully before I remapet it.
Bruin thanks for the info man. How did you get the map tho? My dealer pursuades me that it is impossible to get it by itself, just only if i buy full Akra system. I have been battleing them for 3 months now trying to get it done.
danilo Radulovic Thats weird, my dealer had the map on their computer and put it into mine and my buddys bike when we had service. Did not pay much for it either. Only the time it tok.
Bruin thanks man. My dealer is an idiot with no knowledge of his job at all. Mine will be going to the tuner on dyno and be remapped there. Thanks for the info. And regarding the qs , im gonna go with healtech, it's cutting fuel right, not ignition?
Hi, have you been able to take the bike out yet? I've fitted the healtech quickshifter to mine and just fitted the bodis decat. But doesn't run too smoothly at slow speeds. How's yours running and do you have the akra map, think I'm going to go for that. With the high flow filter and sas removal. Thanks in advance.
Ben Howarth Hi. Yes, I have taken it out now and tested it. Very happy with how smooth it shifts with the quickshifter, even on low rpm and low speed. I Have installed the akra map, u can feel a bit difference with the torque at low rpm :) Is it the engine that isnt running smooth at low speed or the quickshifter?
It's the engine, it accelerates fine and like normal. It's only trying to keep a constant speed at low rpm (3k) it's a little jerky. I put that down to the sas still fitted. I've ordered a removal kit and the high flow filter. My dealer has asked for me to sign confirmation that I will no longer have warranty when the akra map is fitted. So I gotta be sure it runs good before I do anything. The quickshifter is brill and runs very smooth. Do you have any hint that it may be running rich or lean after the map? Thanks for the replies, your a big help.
Ben Howarth I mounted the bodis decat, KN filter and the sas removal at the same time, but I cant se that running with the sas system will mess things up, but not sure. I see that many are loosing waranty when doing this upgrades, but here in Norway they almost recomend it because the engine runs better and smother with the upgrades and you still have the warranty. It is running richer after the map, you can smell it when taking a cold start and when my friend with the same bike and upgrades take a fly by past me 😁
picking mine up soon but ive heard some bad things about the quickshifters blowing the shim out of the exhaust side and that scares me pretty bad. Whats the wrap on that?
Yes, that is one the ones that cuts the ignition. Fuel will still come into the sylinder and create an explosion everytime you use the quickshifter and you risk knocking a exhaust shim out. But Healtech have made this so it cuts fuel instead and you want get any extra fuel in the cylinder when shifting, so no worries as long as it cuts the fuel and not ignition :)
Its safer for the engine of course, but you wont get the exhaust pop when shifting. I havent testet mine on the road yet because of the snow here in Norway, but really looking forward to test it properly.
We don't really get winters like that here in Las Vegas but we also don't have the nice riding destinations you have. Should be finalizing everything today to trade my fz10 on the 16 superduke.
Thank you for the reply, it's sounds like it's perfectly safe to have the healtech fitted then. I shall
Be getting one after the first service, and that'll be when the weather is better so I can ride more often. Haha
Man, nothing cooler than Quickshifter. Sweet bike by the way. Hope to upgrade to a Beast sometime myself.
Cant wait to test it this summer :) Thanks! Yes its recomended getting one :)
So cool bike! I love KTM, expecially 1290. Great video and have a nice day
I'm from Italy ("An Italian sub, wow!" you're thinking)
Thanks! :) Yes, thats pretty cool for a guy living in little Norway :) Have a nice day!
Thank you and have a nice day you too!😉

Hi
Can you say me what timing you prefere for the quickshifter?
I will instelation the same one on my super duke!
Best regards from germany

Ok, you got really something to look forward to :) Sound like you got a plan for your bike allready, I like that :) Sounds like good upgrades to :)

Hi. The burble is gone. Missed it myself in the beginning.
Hi thanks for the video i have a question for you what arecthe benefits to remove sas and canister? Frank from quebec

Thanks! Remap is the first thing Im gonna do before the summer, and also deactivate the SAS system since the engine light is now turned on because the motor is removed.
Thanks for the info - any idea how you will remap? Will you use the full KTM Akrapovic map from KTM or a Power Commander ? Thanks again.
I will go for the full Akra map :)

danilo Radulovic Yes, the healtech only cuts the fuel, so no problem with valveshim jumping out.
guys, do you know, that you can easy shift gears (up and down) without the clutch and quickshifter, with the rear wheel on the service stand?
Chester690TT Yes, this is just to test the fuelcut and adjust, since its snow here in Norway until april we cant go testing on the road .
yep. makes sense. but even adjusting needs to be done on the road. the only way to test, if it´s smooth enough.
Why have you changed quickshifter whereas origine there's quickshifter up/down for 390euro activated ?
This bike did not have a quickshifter original, it came as an option on the 2017 1290 SD. Mine is a 2016
