  • KTM 1290 Super Duke - Rear Wheel removal - Many will know how to do this, this video is for those who don't. It's an easy job with the right tools. This demonstrates how i go about it. It's much cheaper getting tyres changed if you take in loose wheels. And you also get to know it's done correctly as well as gaining experience working with your bike. I hope this helps and saves you some hard earned money. x
    Rear Wheel nut Torque - 250 Nm - 184.4 lbf ft
    But i mark it with tipex before removing, and when refitting i line up the marks as i don't have a big enough torque for this job.
    REAR STAND - For the many that ask about the rear stand, it is made by "ConStands" and works very well. Here is a link, although I think mine came from another supplier. www.amazon.co....

    A perfect video Kev, you answered all my questions, confirmed all my suspicions and delighted me how easy it is to remove a wheel on my first single sided swing arm bike. I won't be buying the KTM special socket at £ 37.00. Many thanks

    • @AntaresSQ01

      The main reason you'd want to is because the special socket is much flatter and is much less likely to cam off than a standard 60mm, if that standard 60 cams off, say goodbye to taking your rear wheel off again. Besides, good luck trying to find a 60mm socket for less than 37 quid...

  • @fernandoavila8419

    Don't use the gear box to hole the wheel from moving, it will mess up a few components and put stress on the chain . Use the rear brake and push the bar the wheel will not move .

    • @KevKam
      @KevKam  6 років тому

      Thanks. With 2 people the rear brake can be used. This is the way for 1 person. I beleive most people and workshops put the bike in gear, it does no harm.

      Another good trick if doing solo: deflate the rear tire almost completely -that way, it won't try and spin when you apply force to loosed the nut.

    • @KevKam
      @KevKam  4 роки тому +2

      Hi and Thank You. Yes, your right, its a Givi on a Givi universal plate. Ive 2 top boxes a 58 and 42. Whilst the 58 is great for long tours with a tent etc, it looks overkill when the panniers aren't on the bike so for trips without a tent, thats when i put the 42 on. the universal plate is on a SW Motech street rack - www.ebay.co.uk/p/20035206376?iid=153844603738&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=153844603738&targetid=878020102480&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006755&poi=&campaignid=9446079328&mkgroupid=95287732945&rlsatarget=pla-878020102480&abcId=1139356&merchantid=191377525&gclid=CjwKCAjw-YT1BRAFEiwAd2WRthCJW41DcZQPCMXJ0U2qCIkY4l9IUSeBzJ7hFqpvIeCTRJfwQInVLRoCsD0QAvD_BwE
