    I forgot how fast JWill was watching him as an old player in Miami. I wish someone like JWill comes into the league again.

  • @arguingwithstupidpeople2047
    @arguingwithstupidpeople2047 8 років тому +98

    You can't judge JWill by his stats, but rather by his entertainment value. Every game was like watching the Globetrotters, until Pat Riley finally got him to settle down at Miami. Then he became a solid point guard on an elite team. But I prefer the old JWill who would go 2-20 one night, then hit for 38 the next night on a crazy variety of upside down, inside out, spinning backwards HORSE shots and 40-foot 3-pointers. "Disciplined" players are boring players, but JWill drew oohs and aahs.

    • @greatwhitesufi
      @greatwhitesufi 6 років тому +7

      I disagree with the disciplined players being boring part, implies you don't understand good team basketball and would rather go for highlight plays than the right plays.

    • @Buttington_Headerson
      @Buttington_Headerson 6 років тому +5

      You can judge him by his stats actually. It's why he was such a disappointment. Obviously tremendously talented. If he indeed was more disciplined and had better shot selection he probably could've been a multiple all star player.

      Hubie Brown gave him discipline in memphis Pat Riley wanted him to go back to white chocolate during the playoffs on their Championship run

      He used to step into threees and miss.... it definitely was annoying back then to see but now it’s so common- coaches would have coronary when they used to see that

      It was all hubie. Riley is all about Showtime. Just like his Lakers. It had to remind him of magic with some of the things he did with the ball and getting teammates involved. Not saying his magic. Just the Showtime idea. Riley is Showtime

      Stockton had been a much better clutch shooter than J Will. It's not fair to J Will for us to use a Hall of Famer for comparison.

    I feel like a part of JWill's game that never got enough credit, and was there even late in his career, was his quickness. When he decided to drive to the basket there were few guards he couldn't get by.

    So let's check the stats for this game..
    JW - 10pts 4rb 6as on 4-15 shooting (0.267%)
    RM - 18pts 7rb 3as on 6-15 shooting (40%) with 3-7 three pointers and the WIN
    I don't think Reggie got outplayed.. he was 36 at the time, so I'd say he had a pretty good game actually

      Yav Ivanov the two are uncomparable, it's like comparing Allen Iverson and shaq, they have two different playstyles, JW is a playmaker and made his team score better, and he danced around RM, so technically he schooled him, RM just shot more

    I don't get the title of this video. Jason didn't school Reggie. Jason had 10 pts and 6 assists and shot 26% from the field. Reggie had 18 pts and 7 boards and shot a higher percentage, plus, Indiana got the win.
    This clip sums up Jason WIlliams' career pretty well. He averaged 10 and 6 for his career and shot less than 40%. Flashy and fun to watch, but really, he was an average NBA player at best and not someone you could win with running the point.

      +Abuadam Alsamet Always wanted CWebb to get that chip. Ditto Peja and Bibby. Or White Chocolate.
      Jesus, Webber was a frigging beast for years. I blame Don Nelson! That guy was almost as cancerous as Chris Cohen for the Warriors (maybe it's a bit homerish, but while GSW was always #1 in my hears, the Kings were #2, with a sharp, if distant tie between the Lakers and Spurs for #3. The Clippers just need to leave CA, IMO.)

    • @dwightlove3704
      @dwightlove3704 8 років тому

      +MrBrachiatingApe Nelson was very hard on rookies and Webber was not spared his wrath.Dirk was treated hard as well.

    • @MrBrachiatingApe
      @MrBrachiatingApe 8 років тому +2

      Dwight Love Well, from what I heard it was about money--so more of the blame belongs with former owner Cohen, who simply didn't want to pony up for Webber to stay--but Nelson apparently exacerbated the situation in some way. At this point, it doesn't really matter...but my god, GSW was poised to have a conference-level team in future years. All we needed was someone to replace Seikaly at center, and the results could have been amazing. Ah well. Could have beens.

    • @dwightlove3704
      @dwightlove3704 8 років тому

      +MrBrachiatingApe Thanks for the info on the owner I never knew about the financial side of Webber leaving GSW at the time your right it could have been something special.Nelson's relationship with rookie players was something I read about from several media sources.

      @ColdJ3 10 років тому +14

      Bibby was a great player too though. Just a different type of PG. They also actually went farther with Bibby and should of had a ship with him. But of course we know what happened

    • @pinkyandthebrain99
      @pinkyandthebrain99 10 років тому +4

      CJ Little Bibby was good, but I felt Williams was a better shooter and had more finesse ... and yes, I wish they could've taken that ring from LA (guess we'll just take away one of Kobe's)

    • @ColdJ3
      @ColdJ3 10 років тому +6

      xinkspillx Wait, you do remember watching them play right? J-Will was nowhere near the shooter Bibby was. What made J-Will was obviously his handles and passing but he had an inconsistent jump shot while Bibby was pretty much money especially when we needed that key basket

    • @pinkyandthebrain99
      @pinkyandthebrain99 10 років тому

      CJ Little from what I remember, Bibby really couldn't shoot worth a damn ... he had streaks, but J-Will was a better facilitator and that's what SAC needed most.

    • @ColdJ3
      @ColdJ3 10 років тому +9

      Lol you definitely don't remember Bibby then unless you remember him from his Hawk days. Around 01-05, he was easily one of the best mid range shooting PGs in the league. He could make 3s too but the midrange was his game. That great 02 playoff run Sac had would of not been nearly what it was had Bibby not been there. He was always the one that would step up and make the big shot

    Jason Williams was the reason I became a huge basketball fan after Jordan retired. I became a huge Kings fan because of him. The league dropped the ball on containing his style. They didn't like him, because he wasn't a kiss but player, and had a bit of an attitude. He just wanted to ball, and wasn't going for any nonsense.

You have to really understand the game to appreciate Duncan's playstyle and finesse but any ordinary guy could go oohh and ahh from seeing J-will. This was right around the beginning of the end for great NBA basketball.
    Before the league became soft, no defense, zones, players all friends with eachother joining up to play.
    Shaq, Kobe, Garnett, Vince, TMac, Webber, Pierce, Iverson, White Chocolate, Wade, Marbury, Ray Allen, Rasheed, Baron Davis, Stoudamire, Steve Francis, Lamar Odom (pre-Kardashian was NASTY), Yao, Antoine Walker, Rip Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Chauncey, Dirk, Nash, Duncan, Carmelo, Kidd etc etc.
    The league went to shit when LeBum became the star, everyone is buddy buddy instead if wanting to beat eachother, they join eachother.
