I think this is a wonderful idea! I love your thoughts about having pocket pals! I plan to use this for my mom. She is getting older and can not get out like she use to. She has always been a crafty girl so my thoughts were to send her mini projects in each pocket! I have a sizzix atc die as well as a puzzle die. And what about all those cricut paper doll carts? Stamps to be colored....tea samples, chocolate squares....My head is spinning with all the possibilities that this format will offer! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS! I am sure this will make my mom smile and give her something to look forward to each week!
I absolutely can not wait to start doing this!!!! I just found out about this today and I am craaaazy excited. I have Lyme disease and I can't sit in one place for every long or do a lot of crafting like I used to and this is just a outlet perfect for me!!! I can get my crafty juices flowing and ineract with others. Thank you so much for sharing this. I just love it!! Great job in making this awesome idea and sharing it with the world! Literally!!! This concept has gone world wide!!! How crazy is that!! Congratulations!!!
This is such a cute idea. I cam across it on UA-cam while looking for crafts to do with my grand kids. I instantly became fascinated with it. I have never been much of a "crafter" or into scrap booking but I could really enjoy this. Thanks for the awesome vids. I look forward to possibly doing this with my grand daughter, she is only 5 but I can see her really liking this.
Thanks Jana! I know she'll love it! So many kiddos get into this! My own nieces did it for a while and they loved learning about their penpals who lived in different states!
It's a great idea for communicating again, getting away from social media. Also for those of us who want to connect with someone, but not having to write a long drawn out letter. Sometimes we don't have time for that. This a creative way to share your thoughts with a friend and make them feel special as well love this! Tks
What a great idea! I love to scrapbook and this is so similar and you get to meet new friends while doing it. I' m so excited to start one ! Thanks for sharing!
I didn't know what pocket letters were until today. I received my first pocket letter in the mail and looked up on youtube what they were and how to make them. Thanks for the tutorial. Now I have an idea and send one back. I'll be sure to subscribe. How didn't I know about this before? It's an amazing idea, creative and beautiful.
AWESOME!!!! I am a newbie to the craft world and I think I can actually do this!! What a great idea to get and give these to people all over the world. TFS, I'm excited to do one of these!!
Janette, this is heart-stoppinly cool. I am so excited that you have merged my two addictions into one: Project Life and letter writing. Thank you for being awesome!
It seems your brilliant idea has spread like wild fire! I just had to look up the genius who started it all. Can I just say, you had me at MFEO! I loove that movie! My all time favorite. I am now working on a pocket letter. Thank you for your inspiration. I am now a new Subby. Hugs!
Thank you! I had never heard of "Pocket Letters" until today! What a fun idea..I think I am going to make one for my friend in Ireland while I am on vacation this week! Thanks again for sharing!
ooooooooh i have been watching this video over and over and my daughter and i have been just going and going to town on this idea it is fun and easy!! THANKS SO MUCH.... and Sleepless in Seattle was so cute..... heheh luv that movie....
Thank you, Janette. Now I know what all my family will be receiving for Christmas this year! Thanks for the concept and for a great video on how to use it.
So basically it is ATCs. (Artist Trading Cards ). But a full set of 9 plus some extra goodies. Cool idea! I have been wanting to do some ATCs again. So glad to see the 2 .5 X 3.5 cards come back and with a twist ! Yay !!! ♥
Mary Wylde I would say they are ATC size, and some people put the "artist" into the ATC more than others. lol And that's totally fine! It just depends how much you want to decorate it!
***** whatever you send is sure to be special to your friend. I still haven't done any of these ! Be sure to use something sturdy to mail it. I think I personally would use a large envelope or a taped letter size or large card size envelope if it is bulky at all. Be sure to go inside to mail it as it will need to be hand cancelled. It costs more if it won't fit through the slot they measure it with. And you don't want it torn by the machines. Gorillas handle the mail , just like our luggage, if you are old enough to remember those commercials . lol
Thank you!! Just started Pen Paling a couple months ago and am always looking for new things to create for my pals...thank you for sharing this! I subscribed so I can see all your creations. :)
"It's like a little clue!" LOL. Love your template and this great tutorial. I always wondered whose brain child pocket letters were. Making my first tonight. :)
Hi sweetie . I'm Cari, and I'm a new subbie. What an amazing idea you came up with.I love it. Thanks for sharing it with the world :) My daughter and I will be trying to make some this weekend and mail it out to family and friends. :)
Just stumbled upon your vid...thanks for sharing your creativity here. Love this idea...can't wait to try it out as I'm still a fan of snail mail and am a cardmaker. This will step it up a notch! My head is swimming with ideas of goodies I'd like to use. Blessings to you :)
Tyfs❤ I love your idea of this, PL pen pal/swap. I regret, some people who take advantage and ruin the fun. My first atemps to connect with swappers was disheartning, i, could not easaly, find a or some pen pals, i now understand why. Im glad i didn't give up. I'm having so much fun. Again, tyfs💗
lol Oh Gem, you're to much...lol I thought I did and you saw my posting on my wall over on FB. lol I'm making you one too...they are so addicting...come on over to the FB group. Janette Lane is the creator of this idea.... lol She's a sweet gal. :)
Oops, can I add one helpful tip? I notice flowers, leaves, feather etc are listed. Please do not send those to Australia. You may get by with it since it is letter size. Wow good for you. Did you think this would go so crazy so fast. I have started making a few just haven't sent any yet. Thanks so very much for sharing. such an easy and economical craft . I have a disability and cannot spend hours doing anything fitting in crafting although I love it is most times difficult. This is the answer. Thanks again (hehe Canadian can't help it) Thanks Hugs Nola
I just found your channel this pocket letter concept is such a cute way to share scraps, tea, and learn a little from one another, If time permits I may make one tfs sweety : )

thank you hailing and bowing! these are awesome! i'm having my first challenge for these i hope i get some!:) LOL! no really thank you for this phenom xoxo
So the template is not on the website for free anymore, but I notice that the measurements are the same size as ATC's (Artist Trading Cards). So if we already have a template for ATC's, we can use these, right? That way we can make our own quotes and stuff. Such a neat idea. Thanks!
Thanks for saying this. I've made ATC's before. It's just starting with a required basic size card stock.. I've never made a pocket letter page so this basic info helps.
MFEO= Made for each other. "Okay, it's cute. So he's not much of a writer." From "Sleepless in Seattle" I had not heard of pocket letters until last October when I received one as a thank you for sharing craft supplies with someone. They are interesting. Yours are clean and simple. Others are entire packages. I am thinking about making a few for friends; they seem like fun.
+rc Cee Definitely different qualities! I found some at the dollar store that were so terribly flimsy! Like.. They ripped when you put something in the pockets.. LOL I have some for sale if you're interested: www.pocketlettershop.com/product/pocket-lettertm-inserts
So can I ask why you put the little papers in there that say what's in the pocket? Can't you just put the item in there without the papers? Or is there a specific reason to include them? thanks!
Hi Bobbi! There's no need to label the pockets. I just though it would be helpful. It's definitely up to you. Did you grab my free starter checklist at www.pocketletters.com. There's a lot of helpful information there too!
Who do you send them to? I have some UA-cam viewers that send me letters. I can reply to them with one of these. Is there a mass list of recipients somewhere?
Hi there! I have a network where you can create an account and you can find hundreds of people all over the world that are swapping these types of letters! You can also go on Facebook and join the Pocket Letter Pals group to find Pals to swap with. Check it out! www.pocketletterpals.com
@Janette - This is an awesome idea, just came across it and would love to start with my first PL problem is that I can't get into the pal swap group, I'm getting this message "Forbidden! You don't have permission to access this page on this server. 403". When I was creating my account I made a typo with my email address, when I tried to correct that mistake is when I got that message, :( BTW, new sub here all the way from South Africa. Love your channel! :)
thanks for explaining. I keep seen this every where and didn't know how to do this or why lol....I didn't know you were the one creating this you should patent your idea. if is not done so yet...;)

i would love to have a copy of ur blurb of how pocket letters got started, that is if u would not mind. i would like to put a copy of it in all my pocket letters that i send out. i love stories of how things got started.lol
Hi there! There's an explanation of a Pocket Letter on my blog available for download. I can't remember the link but it's there.. Just go to my blog and click on the Pocket Letters tab. Scroll through and you'll find it! Promise! 💕💕💕
Giannella Lopez Hi there! You send them to penpals or family and friends👌🏼 You can get a free checklist on what you need and a bit more guidance at pocketletters.com. There’s a link that says, “Checklist”
Thank you for starting this super cool idea. I'd love to register and become a member to your group but the page isn't encrypted :-( Sadly, I just had a second hit on my checking account with identity theft this summer and in trying to determine how this is happening, to my great shock and awe, I discovered that every single address I have lived at over the past 30 years is online in a yellow pages kind of directly that seems to have aggregated a lot of people's contact information without their permission. I'm guessing they found a way to illegally buy a mailing list is from a marketing agency and used it to put us out there for all the world to find us! If anyone is concerned about whether you are listed, here is a link to their web page (I'm currently trying to figure out how to get myself "unlisted"!) www.whitepages.com
+Craftin Kate Yeah, addresses are public information unfortunately, and it's really easy to find out where someone lives... It's crazy because there are SOOOO MANY sites that put this info online...
You can get your information removed if you submit it to the company who has made it publically available (whitepages.com for the most part) but they say after its removed it could get "listed again" because they are always updating their database with new information. How can that be legal is so beyond me!
No problem! Hope your momma enjoys it!

I want to be a part of this. Love your tutorial. Will see is I can find a pal. Thanks.
Hi Ruby! Thanks so much for watching and hope you find a pal!
Oops, can I add one helpful tip? I notice flowers, leaves, feather etc are listed. Please do not send those to Australia. You may get by with it since it is letter size. But if they decide to open it, it will be trashed . No egg products or shells. Tea is OK in sealed bags like she has done here. Not trying to be a know it all, but I have been doing mail art since about 2000 or so. My best friend is in Aussie land and I am in the USA. We have been there before :-) Hope I helped someone.
***** I have sent tea bags before in their original sealed packets. I wouldn't send more than 2 at a time.
***** Glad I could help !
Mary Wylde wow! Good tip! That would be sad if it gets tossed.
This was really great Basic tutorial and it really helped me. i was stuck on what do i include. How do you make the embellishments that you included?

How can that be legal is so beyond me!
