You know some people are not very good at sharing their ideas, or something "they come up with, or created"....So this is a THANK YOU to you for sharing this with us. I think this is an amazing way to keep in contact with friends the old way, with a fun twist! The simplicity of the internet allows people to stay connected and disconnected all at the same time. Thanks again! **Kisses from Toronto**......Dee....xo
My mom & I are just starting pocket letters together this weekend, we joined a group on FB & are so excited to get started, hopefully brighten some wonderful ladies day! Great video, will be watching more, hugs!
Hi Janette, Just found out about the pocket letter last week.....and could not wait to start making them.....I made three already....and am making them with scrapbooking embellies....Thank you so very much for the idea and the inspiration. I did make a video and explained how they came about......and now I can link your video to my projects.....I'm having so much fun with these....and plan to use them in the future and hopefully collect pages of them from all over ....to store in a book too.....Like lil pieces of Art.....with a few lil goodies inside.....Thanks again for the inspiration......
Hi Janette,I just started making these and love it. I made one for a pen pal, it was her birthday. I have been looking at the different videos to see what people put in them. One thing that came to mind when I made mine was to do a word search piece on graph paper and wrote the words on the back of the card for her to search for. It’s so easy to do. Just another idea for one of the pockets. Thanks for your wonderful ideas. Donna 😊
Janette I love this idea! I just joined your Facebook group Pocket Letter Pals just this evening :) I’m really excited to start creating Pocket Letters and sending them to friends and new friends I meet along my journey. Thank you for sharing your video. Love your Blog too!!
i just want to tell u janette, thank u, thank u, thank u, for inventing pocket letter pals. i love it, love it, love it, im fixing to do this with a friend, she is the one that told me about it and showed me ur video on it. this is now my new hobby, lol i want lots and lots of pocket letter pals now. i cant wait to get started. lol
Hello Janette!! I kept wondering who started pocket letters and you must be the one!! I just wanted say thanks to the person who came up with this brilliant idea!! Thank you so much, Janette!! You are genius!! Hugs from JAPAN. Mariko
This a very neat idea. I can't wait to start creating my first letters even though I don't have penpal experience whatsoever. Th is for sharing. Love your IGnand your blog too!
Oh my goodness! How fun is this! I think I might use this idea as a swap/giveaway on my youtube channel. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing idea with all of us. Rebekah
Janette, I absolutely adore this idea of yours. I looked at some Carina Gardner stuff today and was wondering what this pocket letters thing was about - and of course her site sends everybody your way to see how it started. Not sure yet whether I can handle another crafty thing coming with some sort of self-inflicted obligation, but I'm seriously considering it... It looks like so much fun! Someone posted they thought it would be a great idea for her mum as she doesn't get out much. Maybe I'll give my mum a set of sleeves to get her started, hers will most likely be patchwork rather than paper, but anything goes, right? The only drawback for Germans are that we use a different binder size and the holes are in different places, but I guess I could simply create a binder with scoreboard and binder rings. THANKS!
Hi Janette! I just came across the idea of pocket letters about a week ago. Loved the concept, and I think there is so much potential there. I LOVE sharing across the world, and your idea is so practical and easy! I am hoping the envelopes can be found somewhere here, in Brazil, and I can get some pocket-letter pals... Working on it hehehe Will watch more of your videas. Congrats on your idea!!
Hi Janette...New Subbie here. Thanks for bringing snail mail back in a BIG way. I used to love writing letters and I'm starting my first pocket letter today. This concept is spreading like wildfire. The planner group I belong to seems to be very excited to try it too. TFS
Hi Janette! New Subbie here! Love this idea! Thank you for the inspiration! I just shared your UA-cam channel and link on the FB junk journal junkie chat room ... They are loving it! More subbies coming your way! Hugs to you... Irene
God bless your brilliant mind. Thank you so much for coming up with such a different and great idea. My pen pals will now become pocket letter pals. hugs
Hi! I am really, really interested and exited to try this project. I LOVE this idea! Quick question...What sort of things do you write about in the letter portion? Thanks for such a great project. I love the fact that it will use up the lovely scraps that I have been hoarding and that this project is so economical! You are BRILLIANT, Janette!
I'm trying to find a list of possibilities to print out...I saw it running on one of your videos but trying to figure out how to print it out ...... ???
Hi Janette - I kept hearing the word pocket letter and had no clue what it was. I then found your youtube channel and found out what it was. I have done crafts for years (I'm 71) and taught rubber-stamping, scrapbooking and many other things. I would like to get involved with this because I love getting snail mail. (it is a lost art!) I have never done instagram so I'm not sure how to if that is where I find my pen pals. Can you give me some advice. Thanks, Joyce (I'm a CA girl also!) Originally from Huntington Beach and now in Ventura County.
Hi, Janette Lane and everyone, it is February 2020 I came over to your video my recommendation of yT channel The Dazzling Duchess. I love your idea.. I am home battling colon cancer so things are challenging. Kindly Asking for prayers. Looking forward to starting this new adventures. I have to see if I can get a pen pal. Thank you for your creation. God bless you.
Hello JanetI'm à French Scrapbooking begginer...I made my Christmas cards, taking idéas in vidéos and magazines. ..I discover this fabulous new way of mailing .Thanks à lot for having created and shared that all over the world . I just want to know how to get PL pals.Is there any group or list of passionate people who would like to éxchange PL in France or over oceans... ?Excuse me for my english speaking....Thank you for answering me...I can' t wait starting to exchange funny and beautiful Pocket Letters.Christine ,also surnamed " Kizi"
I was introduced to this idea earlier this afternoon while working my part time job at Paper Source. How do I find the customer who gave me her name asking me to look her up here?
This is a great idea but tell me what happens when you use up the stickers/Washi tape/tea? If the person only put that in the pocket you end up with empty pockets. Right? You could conceivably end up with a page with only 2 pockets filled. Do you shift others over to the page? Wait for that Penpal to send another letter or what?
That's a good question Suzi! It just depends on what you want your collection to look like.. For me, I'm going to take out most of the goodies and try to keep the rest of the letter in tact... Does that make sense? If it looks a little sparse, then I don't mind.. Or you could combine letters if you just have empty pockets. :) It's up to you! :)
IDK. I'm not on Instagram. Its an interesting idea. I just think its cute for teens. I don't really have the inclination to put tiny pieces of papers and stickers and tape together. I do like actually really really like that you have come up with a simple idea that makes a lot of people happy and brings people across the globe...closer together!
I have a question please....since you enclose questions for your pal and a letter about you, are you suppose to continue swapping with this same person or just the once...I mean I am sure it is up to each person, but I am trying to figure out how the questions get answered if you only swap the one time and is that really necessary to add that in? gina
Hi Gina! It depends. If you want to have a permanent penpal, then yeah you can keep writing and ask questions and answer them. Otherwise, it can just be a one-time thing. The mail tag questions, don't get answered if it's a one-time swap (unless you're writing first and you ask your set of questions, then the other person can reply with the answers) It's more for long term penpals. You can always just omit the mail tag and just decorate that pocket or do anything else you want. :) Hope that helped!
Thank you so much for the reply....I am joining your FB group and I have checked out some of your other videos and blog too....what a fun concept. If I were you I would find a way to protect your name for this and concept. I know that if I do it and many of my friends see it (we are all crafters) by a video or FB they are all gonna want to know about it and so on and so on and so on lol and you see what happened to Becky Higgins, just sayin!
Vanessa Dube Hi Vanessa! You can leave out the mail tag if you want:) It's up to you.. It's not mandatory.. Some people are just sending little paper tags for them to use in their scrapbooks...
Hi Connie! You don't have to include those things. They're just typical things I send my usual penpals. And they fit easily in those pockets. Here's some more FAQs about Pocket Letters if you're interested :) janettelane.blogspot.com/2015/02/pocket-letters-q.html?m=1
hi love love this idea...im a really new to this but want to do this I love to meet new people..hope to be as good as you are but im so looking forward to having a lot of pocket friends to swap with ....god bless
I use to belong to a pocket letter group. The pocket letters I would receive looked like first grade crafts. Instead of 2 1/2 × 3 1/2 the pocket letter sizes were cutout as though the other party didn't care. The paper wasn't even the correct size along with having a curved up corner. In other words the left side wasn't the same measure as the right side. It wasn't a perfect rectangle. How can I trade with someone who is serious about crafts compared to someone who wants nice pocket letters from me but in return sends me a pocket letter looking like some child did it.

I just don't get why one would make one when the receiver has to take it apart to see what's inside each tiny compartment.
