Today is the first that I have ever heard about this. I had been trying to think of something to do to stay in touch in a special way with my granddaughter who lives about 1,500 miles away. Scrapbooking/papercrafting is something that we always shared...but it is hard to do long distance....but this is perfect! I am going to send her one each month with a gift certificate once in a while...she will love this. Thank you!
Oh my gosh Janette....you NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED a paper trimmer! I almost fell out of my chair when I saw you trace that card lol! cute pl...thanks for sharing hugs gina
I was just looking around 😉 and came across this video. I recently met a wonderful lady who gets really awesome deals on craft items and loves to share them with everyone.💖 she makes these things called Dories, hers are leather covers used mainly for bible covers, they are so pretty, anyway, she wanted to get into scrapbooking and had no idea were to start and people are being so wonderful with her and sending her things. She gave me several really cool little embellishments. I've been wanting to send her something easy she can use and things she can share, she donates a lot of her time to her local senior citizen center and this is perfect for her!💖 I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful idea..💕 Please keep posting your wonderful ideas and have a wonderful day! 💗✨🌿🌺🌿✨💗
Hi there! Oh my gosh that's awesome! She sounds wonderful and I hope she will love what you send her! Thanks for your comment and your kind words! Big hugs!
Oh Janette, Your idea and creative mind of Pocket Letter Pals has really took off, everyone is doing videos of Pocket Letter Pals... You really have started something. So glad that I followed your blog and got your blog post in my email. Maybe my hubby wish I probably wouldn't have read it though..lol ;-) (wink wink)...lol Love your videos. I have yours here in with the other addicts of Pocket Letter Pals that I've swapped with and I just drool over them every time. Thanks for sharing your videos. Hugs my friend. :)
This came out adorable! I'm new to pocket letters but I'm so excited to be doing this and apart of this new fun way to meet new people. Thank you Jeanette.
Thanks for sharing your very informative video on pocket letters. I now have a much better understanding of the purpose and fun from these. I am totally sold on trying these out for my friends and family.
Having a great time making pocket letters, making new friends all over the world. Your site has made a big difference in my life. Thanks so much Janette. Paulette B.
Janette Lane I have so much fun watching your cute videos. Your pocket letter was really cute! Thank you for sharing how you make your pocket letters. Enjoy your Friday! Have a little Sparkle in your Day :)
I really like this idea!! It's so cute!! My niece told me about your site and I'm so glad she did!! I am going to send her one of these and surprise her.
I am new to this, thank you so much for sharing and creating such an awesome way to meet people. Who doesn't love getting great mail. I just joined your site pocket pals. So excited, I'm already obsessed. Great way to create, while sharing a positive note. With all that is going wrong in the world this is a great way to add a little page of beauty, and maybe a small dose of hope to someone's life. thanks again.
Aww! No problem Rhonda! We need a little kindness in this world! Let me know if you ever need any help with the site. My direct email address is janette@pocketletters.com.
This is the first tutorial I have ever watched on how to make a pocket letter. I have seen people receive one but was not sure what they were. This one was very pretty and now I would like to try and make one. Thank u for showing how it’s done 🤩💕
I'm new to the Pocket Letter thingy. I really like it. You have explained it very clearly what you can do with them. I'm going to give it a try. I like the idea if including embellishments that I believe a crafter can use. Not including stash you want to get rid if. Thanks for sharing.
Even I, far away in always-late land as far as crafts go, own a paper trimmer/scoring board. And I also am the happy owner of several generations of digital cutting devices. But I absolutely love that you explain things for everybody out there who may just be starting from scratch. Can I come over to your house, too? Only I will have to do some swimming as well... Say in three years?
It looks gorgeous! Thank you so much for this tutorial with all the cute ideas! I would also decorate the backside, because the pocket letters will go into a binder and I love to flip through them. I don't like it if the backsides are plain. Tfs, Loes
Wow, I have never seen these pocket letters until my cousin mention it and I just got my checklist from your website. Thank you and can't wait to start.
I can send u my email address with my info if you'll like. I'm also new and have a few to send but don't have somebody to send them too so let me know ok. So I can send u my info
Watched your video. Since you're the originator of Pocket Letters I'm sure this is what your intention was for a pocket letter but I find myself decorating each pocket piece and putting goodies behind it. If the people you send to use the goodies you put into the pockets (in front) they are then left with just pieces of paper hand cut (I think most crafters have cutters). I think your "followers" are evolving in to a much more involved/intricate hobby.
Lynn Lehrman Yes, there are so many ways to go about it.. And I encourage experimentation.. A lot have been putting the goodies in the back. It's fun to see it evolve and watch people's creativity! Thanks for your comment!
thank you for this. I have wanted to make one just felt so intimated in making them so many gorgeous ones. to see this and that doesn't seem that difficult I think I will try this weekend.
So stinkin cute I bought that pebbles paper and stickers too from Tuesday morning omg love that place. Love ur channel jus subbed hope to see more videos love ur style.
Love your pocket letter. Especially like the sparkle the glitter paper and sequins add overall. And the tea bag was so cute. Wondering where you buy those?? TFS!
TYFS! I love the idea of pocket letters! I am really interested in making my first one but I have a shaking disorder that makes cutting out the papers to start with. Why isn't there a source of precut papers or cardstock! I sure would buy it! Is there a source??? Love the idea!!!!
Thank you SO much for this tutorial! This helped me learn so much about pocket letters today! I appreciate all your hard work put into these videos. Thank you again so much! 😍❤️
Hi, I have just subscribed. Great pocket letter I just sent my first one, its a great hobby but can be expensive especially in the UK. Thankyou for the tips x
I just loved watching this . I have never seen the whole pocket letter thing , I think I may give it a whirl. So how do you get started , do you ask someone to be a pocket letter pal? tfs
This is all very interesting! I use to do something like this " many, many Moon's age ". I had a pen pal when I was much younger, but I didn't do anything this elaborate! So, how do you find pen pal's to start your pocket letters? Thanks for the video!
ive just found your channel, wow i would love to swap stuff like this... ive always wrote to penpals and love recieving things and sending them x this is soooooo cool x how would i be able to swap with you? x
+laurie loses Hi Laurie! Thank you for your kind words! I'm not swapping at the moment but if you head to www.pocketletterpals.com you'll find lots of penpals!
Are you in the US? How much is it to send a letter like that in the US to another US resident? Can't wait to make this for my pocket letter pals but I'm unsure of the stamping.
+rawrsizzle It really depends. Anywhere from $.60 -$6? You should got to the PO just to make sure. Nothing is worse than it bouncing back for insufficient funds or having your pal have to pay for postage shortage lol
Hi. My name is Patty Zilius and I have a question. How do I start sending my pocket letters that I have made a few but who do I send them and how do I start with my own
hi I love your videos your pocket letter is beautiful. Does the stuff fall out in shipping ? I'd love to receive a beautiful awesome pocket letter but I'm disabled and I don't get out of the house so I don't have anyone to send them to. but I could make one for my art journal thanks for sharing your videos with us brightest blessings! !!!!!
Hi Lorma! The stuff won't fall out if you fold the insert in thirds and put it in an envelope. If you mail it flat, you might want to secure each pocket with a piece of washi tape. I've received a few where things have fallen out, but they were usually the ones that were mailed flat. You should try to swap with someone in your family! Teach them how to make them and then swap. Or maybe try a Facebook group? Sending you a big hug and brightest blessings to you too! (LOVED that btw! Thank you! I appreciate it so much!)
Janette Lane I could make one and send it to you I got lots of goodies do you except mail from your youtube fans . I'm definitely going to make one for my art journal just love it I've watched your video 12 times since I found it just can't get over how pretty yours are thanks for getting back to me so fast
Oh my gosh! You're so sweet! Just the thought of you wanting to send me something makes my heart swell! If you really want to send something I can give you my addy. But if you can't I definitely understand. Especially cause postage to the UK can be OUTRAGEOUS! So I definitely understand if you change your mind;) And thanks for watching my video 12 times LOL That made my day!
Hi Janette- I was just watched a couple of your UA-cam Videos to see what pocket letters were and what they are about. I have never heard of this before. Just off and on through a couple of groups. Watching your videos made it simple for me to understand how you do them. I loved the way you did this step by step so those who have a difficult time with it can understand what to do. I am thinking of getting into doing pocket letters. I just need some things to do that when I do decide when. Do you know how many stamps a pocket letter takes when you use an envelop? Do you have any tips for doing their first pocket letter? is this an inexpensive thing people can do? Thanks for answering my questions and for sharing your videos. I really enjoy them. I am new to this. Hope it is something I will enjoy.
Lauren Ritchie Hi there Lauren! Thanks for your comment... It's pretty pricey to get started. And I think the most expensive part about it is the postage. Check out my latest video.. I answer a postage question. It can be inexpensive if you get crafty and resourceful with your supplies. I have a Dollar Store tips video that shares ideas with supplies that can be purchased at the Dollar Tree... Check that out to get some ideas! And the best way to get started is just to go for it! lol Honestly, just start one pocket at a time... I have a guide on my blog that should give you a better understanding of what to do... janettelane.blogspot.com/2015/02/janette-lanes-pocket-letter-guide.html You'll do great!
Janette Lane Thanks for the response, I will check out your blog, while I have some time to do that. Over a couple of days I did some research on Pocket Letters and it now looks real easy to do. I just need materials to get started on them. I have been hearing that international can be very pricey. So my Pocket Letters for now would be within the United States. I have seen some fancy ones and some simple ones. I think the Pocket Letter is great if you don't want to write Pen Pal Letters and it is a way to send one without having to write so much, but a great way to see how things go with the Pocket Letter being sent out. I like the idea of a one time Pocket letter and the option to choose whether to continue by sending one back or send a thank you note.
I really enjoyed that tutorial! I also subscribed and am looking forward to seeing more, I am very inspired and you were very informative! TFS Rosemarie
Forgive me please, I am new to ALL this! I saw this video and I was wondering what it was all about. SO, The "goodies" are items that you would give to someone for use on a scrap book? Or whatever. ?
+Tammy Hansen ...Okay. If I had watched the whole video before posting this, I would have figured that out for myself. Well...I really like this idea! I think this is something that I could get into!
Have a question. I've made a few pocket letters but how do u start and how do I get their info and how do I give them mine. I'm kinda ummm well let me tell u. Me and technology do not get along. My hubby does this for me cause I have bad memory because I get seizures and I've noticed the pocket letters help me.
Today is the first that I have ever heard about this. I had been trying to think of something to do to stay in touch in a special way with my granddaughter who lives about 1,500 miles away. Have a question. I've made a few pocket letters but how do u start and how do I get their info and how do I give them mine. I'm kinda ummm well let me tell u. Me and technology do not get along. My hubby does this for me cause I have bad memory because I get seizures and I've noticed the pocket letters help me.
