You americans are so lucky not only whit the fridom but alsow whit the prises,a gun like that we would have paid about 12 to 14 times more than you. Love your channel sootch00 Greetings from Norway
I've had this pistol for a year now. My wife and I use it as a range gun, and I carry it in a shoulder holster whenever I can wear a jacket or coat. We've NEVER had a single problem, and the pistol is accurate.
The best of the video, is de final states: "Be strong"; "Be Courage"; "God bless America"; "Long live the Republic". That kind of men, founded and maintain the United States of America.-
My second gun purchase 45 years ago was a Colt 1911 like yours.y most recent acquisition this week is a Commander size SR1911. Prettiest 1911 I own. Have come full circle back to what I started with, a 1911 or snub nose revolver after only carrying polymer striker fired pistols until lately. Good to see you educating current shooters on the advantages of tried and true designs like the 1911 and CZ75.
You do a great job with your video's. Love how honest you are. This is an amazing gun! Shoots easy and right on! It also is one of the best looking guns out there!
I’m considering buying a1911 and the SR1911 is at the top of my pick list. I always enjoy your videos. They are very informative and to the point. Thanks for the excellent review of the Ruger. 👍
No firing pin block on the Ruger SR1911. heavy firing pin spring and titanium firing pin make it drop safe. Love your videos and my SR1911 cmd lightweight.
Found an SR1911 Commander at a show today in Vero Beach - trade in - for $750 OTD...snatched it up right quick...been looking for one for a long time...in the right place @ the right time...
I know this video is 10 years old, that said. I picked up this pistol recently for my first collectors type gun for my small collection. Everything else I own is more self-defense, Glock, rifles, concealed carry, ect. Funny thing is, after the first time I shot it, I fell in love with it and now I want to carry it. I have a craft shoulder holster on the way. What a beautiful gun. And that oversized ejection port, brilliant Ruger! Great video!
I just picked up the SR1911CMD. That is the 4.25" Commander size 1911. We're going out tomorrow to the range to start breaking her in. Living here in Idaho, I just usually go out and shoot outdoors but seeing that is in the low 20's for a high with snow on the ground, I think indoors will be just fine with me! Must be getting older and smarter. I'll give you all a range report in a couple of days. I just hope she shoots at least half as good as she looks! Beautiful weapon! and thanks sootch00 for the nice report on the Ruger.
I own 4 of these. Commander, lightweight commander, night watchman commander and now the officer all in 45 acp. Was pleased to learn the slide is machined not cast. Makes me like them even more.
Thanks, Sootch! I've had my SR1911 since June of last year. I had to pay nearly MSRP to get it, but I've never regretted it. The SR1911 was my first Ruger, which spawned 3 more Ruger purchases and I have two more on my wishlist. Thanks for reviewing such a GREAT American made pistol. BTW - it also causes 1911 disease. I now have 4 1911's. ;-)
This is a rock solid, well built, American made, accurate 1911 with flawless action. I sold my Colt Commander and kept my Ruger 1911. That's how much I like it.
Last year I purchased a Ruger Blackhawk, stainless model, rosewood grips. It was an absolutely beautiful gun and built like a tank. I got lots of compliments on the range, no kidding! I'm from the Detroit area and like many other cities people like things that are more "tacti-cool" than a single action revolver. But, ultimately I "needed" some money and because of it's size and role in my collection it was first to go. :( This SR1911 reminds me of that Blackhawk in a way. I love the way Ruger does stainless steel, and their rosewood grips. Being in the market for a somewhat impractical (for concealed carry) firearm again, I think this is the one! I've never really handled 1911's so now I need to go to the range and try one out. Thanks Sootch for all the fun and informative reviews! ...don't forget guys there is a SR1911-CMD model, 3/4" shorter barrel/slide if you plan on carrying, or just like the commanders!
Had mine about 4yrs and its performed perfectly for 100s of rounds. I liked it so much i bought another one like iyt in 9mm. I use it mainly for the range because 9mm is alot cheaper than 45acp. Love them both and there keepers
you know, my first choice for a 1911 still is a Springfield... but if I could own a second I think Id have to go with a Ruger. Love the look, the feel, everything about it and Ruger really is a great firearms company!!!
I have been on the hunt for the perfect weapon to make my first purchase. I have used other weapons, and a issued S.O. Sig S 226. I picked this up at a gun show yesterday, and fell in must have with it. Thanks for the review, I am running out to buy this at the end of the month...Yaay! Thanks. It is a beauty...
Very nice review of this new Ruger SR1911 Sootch. I love all your reviews. Something about your smooth Southern accent is pleasing to this old Yankee. Keep up the great work! Thanks!
I wasn’t certain I bought one if the best affordable 1911’s when I got an SR1911; but having owned it a while, and seeing several reviews like this I know I made a good purchase.
Okay, so many years later from when this was published, but... I'm picking up a used one from the shop I used to be the Firearms Specialist at. One of the things I really appreciate is the GI style guide system. My Colt Combat Elite XSE has a FLGR and I usually end up replacing those with the GI style. Oh, and I do appreciate that Ruger did not put a freaking ton of warnings on the gun.
Excellent video, well made and well filmed!! I have a Sr1911 and i thinks its beautiful, i paid 655 plus tax so for that price wow what a package deal, great fit and finish! thanks for posting
Not exactly a clone in 1911 terms. Many small but notable differences. I love mine so far. Probably better overall than a Colt costing twice as much. A Gold Cup match may shoot better but I think the Ruger is tough to beat in value.
Beautiful!! It has moved up on my 'to get' list as well. Maybe to the top. The only .45 i own is an original ww2 Remington Rand 1911 and I am looking for a .45 that i can shoot a lot. The Rand shoots fine but it is old and collectable and i don't want to hurt the value. Thanks for another great video
I have always been iffy about 45's because of the recoil. I decided to buy this gun after a couple hours of research and decided that this was one of the biggest bangs for the buck. I was surprised and impressed by the low recoil, which allowed me to re-aim quickly. After shooting this SR1911, the p226 is no longer my favorite weapon.
I'm literally getting rid of my sig p229 legion to get a custom ruger sr1911....even though the legion is amazing I just cant get over how accurate, beautiful & strong this weapon is.....i love the weight, it helps me shoot bullseyes all day
I have a P320 and I can't shoot worth a damn with it. I keep shooting low. The trigger feels like it has to much play in it and I find myself snatching the trigger instead of squeezing it. I finally bought the Ruger 1911 and I fell in love with it. It has a WAY tighter trigger and is way more accurate. Not to mention, the beauty of it!
I just got one brand new and it has given me 3-4 Failure to Load and 2 Failure to Eject. Remember it is a new weapon and even my Glock 19 did this a few times until broken in. I think it is very reliable once you break it in with at least 300 rounds. I shot over a 100 rounds today and it was very accurate and well centered. I do like this weapon a great deal and look forward to getting past the failures which should happen soon...
If I were to ever get a 1911, this is the one I would go with. I love Ruger because they make great products. Plus, I love the look of this 1911 so much.
Another thing that helps with the barrel and barrel bushing being made from the same bar stock is even wear. They'll be closer in heat treatment and less likely to wear on or the other prematurely or unevenly.
I wish there was a video on how to use the OverTravel Adjustment Screw on the trigger. Hopefully Sootch00 one day will show how it works and how to adjust it properly
I have 2 Ruger hands guns first this SR 1911 my only 45 caliber with shorter barrel & love that wooden Grip with SS & black accent parts. And I also have the LCPT 2 in green love Ruger company they make great firearms.
Ever since seeing this video, I've been in the hunt for one...Was in Prescott AZ this weekend and found one at a local dealer. This firearm is fantastic and exactly like you describe. I own a few other 1911's and have to say this firearm is on par with my Kimber or rebuilt Springfield if not better right out of the box. Took it out this morning and was more than pleased with its accuracy. The only addition I'm looking at is checkering the front strap and installing a S&A magwell.
just wanna say you make great videos man i love the SR1911 and Ruger themselves, looking to get one of their 1911s soon. i have a Remington R1 that im very very pleased with (trust me guys, theyre Colt quality except for a more utilitarian finish) but i may be trading up for an SR1911 soon. had a Talo Vaquero and it was beautiful, very well built, shot like a dream, amazingly light trigger (if thays your thing) they just make extremely nice guns
I bought a Ruger SR1911, I love this weapon. I own many 1911s and its one that definetly has a place in almost anyones safe. An Ed Brown its not, but with all the Springfields, Kimbers in that 700-900 range, this is a gun to compete with them. I was pretty impressed with the quality.
I've had my SR9 (CCW) for a little over a year, added an SR22 (trainer for the boys) a few weeks ago... SR1911 seems like it would fit nicely in the family. Nice review Sootch!!
Man what a beautiful example of the 1911, i got the S.A. Range Officer in stainless, kinda wish i had bought the Ruger, but if i had got the Ruger i would have wished i had got the range officer, well.... guess i ll save up for the Ruger...hahaha thanks Sootch for a great review!
Nice review, I'm looking at getting my first 1911. I really like the Ruger SR1911 Target pistol with the G10 grips, looks sweet. It's selling for $1,199.99 here in Canada.
Yes Browning would approve of Ruger's build. I've been eyeballing this gun for awhile. You made up my mind up! Was leaning to the SR 40 S&W, now SR45 acp all the way. Thanks for the outstanding review!
it is a series 70 pistol. It's also a single action pistol. And won't fire unless the hammer is cocked prior to pulling the trigger. the light weight titanium firing pin and heavier firing pin return spring combination does, greatly reduce the chance, of if the weapon discharging the round if dropped on the muzzle by the firing pin "floating" forward into the primer during the impact of the fall to set off the round. the series 80 has a physical pin that stops the firing pin from moving forward during the impact and discharging the round. on a "normal" firing pin set up, the heavier firing pin and lighter return spring will allow this to happen regardless of the trigger position. It's just a case of the pin itself slamming into the primer with enough force to discharge the round. I hope this helps Jim
When I bought mine and brought it home and broke it down I thought I was going to have to buy some parts like I did with the last Colt I bought. But not so. Instead of plastic the mainspring housing is some kind of tough aluminum and that's okay with me. But the kicker is the recoil spring guide rod. The (later) Colts have a cheap, thin hollowed-out aluminum guide rod which I replaced with one that is almost identical with the one in the Ruger SR1911 which is solid stainless steel. Cool. And I didn't have to deburr the inside of the slide like I did with my last Colt. All in all I'm very pleased with the Ruger. And it's dangerous accurate! I like that too!
ALL of Rugers latest offerings in mid-to full size pistols have excellent triggers. It is amazing at how great they are from the factory. My SR9c was a little gritty, BUT after a few hundred rounds, the trigger is fantastic.
+BikerBry Even going back a ways they were good. My first Ruger was an early P94 in .40. Great trigger, no failures at all and a great shooter. I only sold it because I just didn't care for the .40 round.
I shot a friend's last weekend and it is a very well made well balanced 1911. The only thing I would like to see Ruger add to the pistol is a magazine well. It adds a little depth to the grip and really helps during reloading. Nice review, well done.
Great review on an awesome pistol. I was lucky enough to find mine right after they came out, so I've had it for a little over a year now. Not only does it look good, but it is truly a quality firearm at a nice price. And best of all...made in the USA!
Sootch - brother, thanks for the great video on the Ruger SR1911. Just bought mine and put 125, Independance brand, 230gr FMJ rounds down range without a FTF or FTE. Increible weapon. Semper Fi!! KGills
Good vid sootch. I just bought a SR9 and the SR1911 is on my short list. In fact it will probably be the next firearm I purchase. Gotta love those Rugers.
I live in upstate NY. I just paid for half of the gun and when it's finally added to my permit in 2-3 weeks I'll go pick it up and pay the other half. NY life lol PS it's a SR 1911 full sized. Paid 849 plus tax is around 950. I have zero rounds so I'll be paying God knows what for that too lol. I'm too excited to be let down by that stuff though. I just turned 30 on January 1st so I'm happy to treat myself. I already have my ccw pistols and whatnot. I've been wanting a 1911 since I got into guns so here it is.
I caught that too, and on the slide closeup I didn't see it there, I was going to point that out then seen your post. All is well Sootch does such a good job we allow a mistake now and then.
You look 10 years younger in this video...wait, you are! I'm late to the game, but this is still a great video, and now I want this ancient gun.
You americans are so lucky not only whit the fridom but alsow whit the prises,a gun like that we would have paid about 12 to 14 times more than you. Love your channel sootch00 Greetings from Norway
Very true. But sadly we have lots of people who protest to take those rights away. It's insanity.
It wasn't luck American citizens paid for those rights with their life. Sadly many today take that right so hardly fought for for granted.
Jesus gave His life.
Picked up a second hand one yesterday for $650
You are welcome to move here and become a US citizen .
This channel is the place to go for good information and no BS
I've had this pistol for a year now. My wife and I use it as a range gun, and I carry it in a shoulder holster whenever I can wear a jacket or coat. We've NEVER had a single problem, and the pistol is accurate.
This is gonna be my choice for my first 1911, and probably my next firearm purchase in general. Can't wait!
clamum Did you ever get one?
would like to know also, this won't be my first handgun but my first 1911
get it. i have a ruger sr45 the plastic one and i loved it well i sold it got the sr1911 and it is sweet! so smooth and shoots great
A near perfect option. I did slick mine up, and changed the grip panels. I can't find a handgun I would rather shoot.
I shot by friends the other day so easy to hit the target barely any recoil assuming because of the weight
The best of the video, is de final states: "Be strong"; "Be Courage"; "God bless America"; "Long live the Republic". That kind of men, founded and maintain the United States of America.-
Need them now more than ever with everything that defines America under attack.
“Made in the USA”. Best part!

You do a great job with your video's. Love how honest you are. This is an amazing gun! Shoots easy and right on! It also is one of the best looking guns out there!
Great video,. I just got mine 2 weeks ago. I've put about 200 rounds through it, & so far not one problem. Fantastic high end pistol.
I’m considering buying a1911 and the SR1911 is at the top of my pick list. I always enjoy your videos. They are very informative and to the point. Thanks for the excellent review of the Ruger. 👍
Great video, great gun!
Greetings from Slovakia, Europe.
God bless America:-)
apiFerrari love to Slovakia!
We LOVE YOU SLOVAKIA!!! Great Arms makers!!! GREAT PEOPLE!!!!
BEAUTIFUL LADIES!!!
No firing pin block on the Ruger SR1911. heavy firing pin spring and titanium firing pin make it drop safe.

These Ruger 1911’s are the bomb! We live in great times.

I bought the full size one and love it with the laser grips and magwell. +P loads all day
@@j.d.2703 I shoot Hornady Critical Duty 220 Grain JHP I’m my Ruger SR 1911. Great ammo

Very nice review of this new Ruger SR1911 Sootch. I love all your reviews. Something about your smooth Southern accent is pleasing to this old Yankee. Keep up the great work! Thanks!
Thanks for your video. I bought this nice handgun yesterday. It´s awesome!
I've had and still own several Ruger pistols. I have been shopping for a 1911 and Ruger is at the top of that list. Always enjoy your video's.
Love my SR1911. Great gun. Never had any issues. Fired approximately 1000 rounds through it.
Just bought one today. Your great review influenced me to get one and it's my first 1911.
I wasn’t certain I bought one if the best affordable 1911’s when I got an SR1911; but having owned it a while, and seeing several reviews like this I know I made a good purchase.
Prescott is my home town... I'm always to very proud when i hear people saying how much they like their Ruger.
I have been inside and out of my SR1911. Complete dis-clean-re assembly. The grip safety is a trigger block not a firing pin block of any sort.
Okay, so many years later from when this was published, but... I'm picking up a used one from the shop I used to be the Firearms Specialist at. One of the things I really appreciate is the GI style guide system. My Colt Combat Elite XSE has a FLGR and I usually end up replacing those with the GI style. Fantastic gun. I bought it a few years ago. Fantastic and accurate right out of the box.
One if the best reviews I've seen in awhile! Thanks for sharing
Great review Sootch00! I like how you compared the two 1911's side by side, detail by detail. Now that's how a review should be done, excellent work.
I always love the music.
But, always my go to for gun videos! Good stuff!
Thanks much for the excellent review. A truely beautiful weapon.
Very nice review
I especially like the side by side comparison with the Colt GI type
Excellent video, well made and well filmed!! I have a Sr1911 and i thinks its beautiful, i paid 655 plus tax so for that price wow what a package deal, great fit and finish! thanks for posting
I was reading this 1911 is basically a 70 series Colt clone..Great value 1911..
Ruger is Awesome...I own many..
Not exactly a clone in 1911 terms. Many small but notable differences. I love mine so far. Probably better overall than a Colt costing twice as much. A Gold Cup match may shoot better but I think the Ruger is tough to beat in value.

Another truly great video from a truly great American! Thanks sootch00! Ruger SR1911 is definitely on my short list also!
Your vids are..... Well between 1-10 they are a 11!!!! Keep up the great work, enjoy watching them. Not to mention I learn every time I watch one !
The video that made me buy mine! Thank you again!
Ruger makes some beautiful 45acp pistols. I would love to have one of these.
Sootch - Excellent review. I'm shopping around for a 1911 and this Ruger SR 1911 has also jumped up a few notches in my to get list...Molon Labe
I think this video solidified my decision to get the SR1911 versus the Colt
Glad you went that route, the colt in 10mm doesnt even offer adequate chamber support for hot loads.....
As much as I love my 1911, my P226's gives me major t h o, but admittedly the DA/SA isn't for everyone
i find. 45 recoil to be more of a push feeling than snappy like a .40.
I'm literally getting rid of my sig p229 legion to get a custom ruger sr1911....even though the legion is amazing I just cant get over how accurate, beautiful & strong this weapon is.....i love the weight, it helps me shoot bullseyes all day

Probably less recoil than my m&p sheild 9mm...and the trigger pull..fuggetaboudit..
I just got one brand new and it has given me 3-4 Failure to Load and 2 Failure to Eject. Remember it is a new weapon and even my Glock 19 did this a few times until broken in. @sootch00 thank you for helping me persuade my friend about the merits of this masterpiece.
The Ruger SR1911 was my very first firearm I've ever purchased. Bought the pistol about 6 months ago. God bless america
Thanks for going through the differences with the other Series 70.
I wish there was a video on how to use the OverTravel Adjustment Screw on the trigger. Hopefully Sootch00 one day will show how it works and how to adjust it properly
I want this gun so bad! Ruger was back ordered so heavily that I had to go with the Remington R1. Great review! keep up the good work!
I have 2 Ruger hands guns first this SR 1911 my only 45 caliber with shorter barrel & love that wooden Grip with SS & black accent parts. And I also have the LCPT 2 in green love Ruger company they make great firearms.
I saw your review on the Ruger SR1911 .45ACP. I also have the same pistol. Thank for the review...
Great video! On point. Main reason for information and warnings on the gun is from lawsuits and future ones. Great guns!
I love my Ruger SR 1911 and SR 1911 Commander.
Ever since seeing this video, I've been in the hunt for one...Was in Prescott AZ this weekend and found one at a local dealer. This firearm is fantastic and exactly like you describe. This has become my favorite gun.
LOL for the read the Ruger, it is amazing how much they can fit on a slide... still love them a lot though. Great video!
This is a extremely nice looking gun..Thanks Sootch for the promotion.
Yes Browning would approve of Ruger's build. I've been eyeballing this gun for awhile. You made up my mind up! Was leaning to the SR 40 S&W, now SR45 acp all the way. Thanks for the outstanding review!
That big flippin hole at the end of the barrel is what attracts most people to the 1911 pistols.
Anyhow good video and sweet 1911.
I bought mine five days ago. I love it . It's my first gun
Welcome to the club.. Great first pistol... You'll love it!
it is a series 70 pistol. I hope this helps

Really great review! I just purchased one of these and I can't wait to for it to come in!
+Brohanman M Hey have to got the gun yet? If so make a video bro!!
Great review on an awesome pistol. I was lucky enough to find mine right after they came out, so I've had it for a little over a year now. Not only does it look good, but it is truly a quality firearm at a nice price. And best of all...made in the USA!
I'm not a 1911 fan, but if I ever buy one ... It will be. RUGER. Excellent review Sir!
I just got mine in the mail today, ordered it for $650 so excited. Great vid
Must be nice...I live in Los Angeles where I think receiving gun magazines is illegal...lmao
Another good review - I appreciate the tag line you say at the end! Keep up the good work.
Excellent review. I really want one for my first 1911.
Ordered after doing my research. Picking one up next week!!!
Sootch - brother, thanks for the great video on the Ruger SR1911. Just bought mine and put 125, Independance brand, 230gr FMJ rounds down range without a FTF or FTE. Increible weapon.
Semper Fi!!

Thanks for the great review! Looks like I made the right purchase. Can't wait to go pic up my 1911..
Good for first 1911 I suppose.
Good vid sootch. I just bought a SR9 and the SR1911 is on my short list. In fact it will probably be the next firearm I purchase. Gotta love those Rugers.
Friend of mine has this gun, Sweet it is for sure!! The SR1911 in 10mm is also a Sweet gun & on my wish list...The 45 is on the night stand....
Have one of these in the "Commander, ultra light" model
Love it, often use for ccw
I get my goverment sr1911 45 acp in one week! I actually live in Prescott, Arizona and have friends that work at the Ruger factory. I can't wait!!!
great video!
Best SR1911 review I've seen.
You do an excellent job with all of your videos, thanks
I live in upstate NY. I just paid for half of the gun and when it's finally added to my permit in 2-3 weeks I'll go pick it up and pay the other half. NY life lol
PS it's a SR 1911 full sized.
Best review I've seen of this weapon.
Great job as always! Thank You!
I caught that too, and on the slide closeup I didn't see it there, I was going to point that out then seen your post. All is well Sootch does such a good job we allow a mistake now and then.
