Great video, I bought an SR1911 when I turned 21 roughly 9 months ago, and decided to clean it after shooting it for the first time. Your video did a great job explaining how to take it apart, clean it and reassemble it!
Excellent video. I've had my SR1911 for a couple of years and shot thousands of rounds through it. Highly accurate and still tight. They do get dirty and mine requires cleaning every second or third time to the range or it will hang up. It's my favorite for shooting.
your video definitly helped. my dad got me the SR1911 as a gift from academy. I really hope I cleaned it good enough. looks clean and the barren looks shiny, I sent 100 rounds before cleaning it. so I hope its clean. I also didn't watch any videos when I disassembled it and that spring literally went flying across the house lol! that's what I get for not paying attention
Only thing ive heard is that the firing pin area is best to clean with isopropyl alcohol since it evaporates cause you dont want greasy lubricant getting around it since it will draw too much gunk from powder and any other debri such as lent and dust and it could cause it to foul up. Also gonna use mobile 1 grease for slide and frame rails
I always do because some manufacturers use a machine oil in the manufacture of the gun which is sticy and is not meant to be a gun lubricant which is much lighter. Also, there may be some debris in the gun from manufacture that needs to be remove and finally it allows you to inspect the firearm to ensure that everything looks the way it should.
I use a 2 or 2-1/2 gallon reclosable clear bag to remove and reinstall the guide rod plug inside of. That guide rod plug can launch across the room. I use a Squirrel Daddy bushing wrench. I also recommend keeping spare guide rod plugs.
What are you using as your disposable cleaning mat? Is it just some paper towels? Whatever it is, good idea. My cleaning matts are a mess, think disposable would be a better idea.
Believe it or not but it is a pre cut piece of Reynolds parchment paper. I use it because a white towel can cause my camera to overexpose the lighting and the parchment paper is more of a tan color. They come pre cut like that but they are not oil proof. Set then on top of a paper towel or two if you don't want the oil to sleep through to your table.
Can't decide between the cz 97b or this beautiful piece of history and craftsmanship. Would go nicely with my M1 Garand though. Is it an accurate shooter? Would choose the target version for sport shooting if I pull the trigger on that one. Thanks and cheers GS83
Nice explanation of disassembly and reassembly. You’re articulate and thorough. Good job.
Thanks for watching!

It is such a beautiful pistol but it gets cleaned after every range trip!
My first pistol I've bought from a shop except I got it in black. Also my first 1911. I love everything about it! Definitely worth every penny!

This is true about the firing pin. You can clean them with CLP or gun oil but remove any remaining lube with a dry patch.
Great video . I love my SR 1911 and keeping it clean has been super easy watching this video has helped me a lot.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. New to 1911. Is it necessary to field strip and clean before shooting it the first time?

I like mine as is but a target model is always nice, too. Check out my range test of it. It is a great 1911!
May you do a video with a bull barrel 1911," how to clean a bull barrel 1911"
Good idea!
I just bought mine and the ejector it’s a little bit loose is that normal
Wear some dam gloves ppl......that stuff will kill ya! hopefully the room is well ventilated as well???
I eventually starting doing that in videos.
Excellent, thank you. You went too fast. Try slowing the motions down a bit. Again, thank you!
Sorry about that. I do that in just about every video.

Drop the Ruger song and dance and learn two words... Dan Wesson!
Unfortunately I didn't have that kind of money back then but I may now.
