The shame of turning to charity for survival when a week ago you were possibly donating to is a hard pill to swallow.
It may be hard to swallow, but there's absolutely no shame in it. Ups and downs are the fabric of life, and such an inhumane system will make downs more of a habit of ordinary people. Deepest sympathy.

32% of the US is now unemployed. But the brilliant part is, their ex-employer will use the excuse that they were only looking out for everyone's health. And the ones who are still employed will be working for little pay.
This virus sucks for everyone, the people complaining that they can’t go out and about are idiots. Empathy is what people need. I am sure you have a job at the moment and have security. I am not from nor do I live in the USA, but just remember that millions of people are losing their jobs in your country which will have a profound effect on your community.
I wish people would work together like this when there wasn't a big crisis. The world would be so so much better. Also, if its something you do please pray for the children and just people in general who are being abused or homeless. Up to Two years ago (I'm 14 now) I was badly abused by my father and my only way out was school, it was my safe place. I can't imagen how terrified I would be if I was still there. I rlly hope they are okay
Abby P this is a small hope that I have for abused kids. My hope is that their abusers are so freaked out that they remain comatose during these times. Obviously, I am speaking about older children who can fend somewhat for themselves and by staying very, very quiet and hidden as I was forced to do growing up.
Considering 9/11 and the Gulf oil spill. You would think that people would have drawn some heavy lessons.
alas...

Best place to be right now
Expect to see a lot of people move to the country side and exit big cities in the near future.
I'm willing to bet many Americans are going to become self sufficient and have self sufficient homes e.g collect own rain water, grow own food, have solar power and definitely provide own security for themselves.
This recession/ economy ups and downs are getting annoying now, and it's up to YOU, not the government to weather the storm by being prepared.
@@stevegwizzle3560 The countryside is going to get concreted over. It's tragic.

@@stevegwizzle3560 I can guarantee that won't happen. A demographic change is occurring and younger Americans simply find Podunk America boring and desolate. I feel bad for Americans ): it's not that bad paying a high tax, when in times like these, money should be the last thing to worry about and being able to get medical assistance should be a human right. I too have lost my job, but I'm thankful I don't have to worry about getting food on the table. Take it from a Northern European, I hope this crisis will open the American administration's eyes a bit.
Same here from Sweden, with neighborly love. Unless we are countrymen even ;)
But yes. Taxes wisely distributed for the welfare of all, is what a civil society is all about. Or should be. There is room for individuality in such a structure as well in case people doubt it. I gladly pay what i pay in taxes and be a little less wealthy (i still make alot more than i really need) if the money helps my countrymen. And myself. Only wish our politicians were wiser, but don't we all - wherever we live.
Sorry to hear that you lost your job, hopefully things turn around for the better.
Stay safe out there.
*Kramar*
@spirals 73 So frustrating to hear... Revolting how they rip people off. The Healthcare system in the US is nothing but a business, its a joke. Stay strong and safe at home for now, hopefully this situation will shine some light on the future ahead!
I wish it would open the administrations eyes- but then you need to remember who paid for those admins to be where they are. When your politicians are arguing that a minimum wage worker might make a few extra $s on unemployment insurance (nevermind the broken heath care system) Or governors telling people they should be willing to sacrifice their safety for the economy. Yeah. That’s where we are right now.
Afonso Bandhold blame it on the doctors who expect to be paid $400,000+ k and want work life balance and low patient loads. And yet, our doctors are the most sought after in the world. Blame it on the Pharma and Med tech companies in the US that are world leaders on new therapies and innovations that you all benefit from. Government control stunts and slows innovation and naturally makes people less hungry to better themselves. Keep in mind that the US is not a homogenous country like Sweden or japan etc...there are many many races and cultures that clash on values and the “right way”. My friend studied in the US and went back home to Canada and is now a surgeon. She comments that even though healthcare is “free” it sucks. Patient quality outcomes are lower than in the US and you can’t see a doctor quickly. Competition is a good thing unless you already know you’re less intelligent and below average you’d benefit from everyone staying “equal” and being paid the same etc bc big brother is sustaining your existence.
Jeff Hur But yet Canada doesn’t have 45,000 people dying every year because of a lack of insurance. No, the system might not be perfect. Yes, you might have to wait longer. But care is based on need, not by those who can or cannot afford it.
Who’s funding the universities who do the initial research on those new therapies? Oh, right. Taxpayers. So then a big pharma company can go through, buy the rights to the research and not allow generic versions of said drug to be made. Then they get to rake in the profits.

I would say that's not true, especially with smaller businesses. I know someone who runs a small business who ended up paying an extra $50-60k just to make sure he could get his employees checks around Christmas time. Most business owners do care.
It’s nice to feed everyone but people in crowded lines isn’t the best idea.
So thankful I live in rural Texas. The answer is yes, were about to hit a depression
It's most likely going to reach most towns in the western world, exept extremely small villages, maybe. Big cities are just the first to get it because more people go to that city and there are more people to spread it to. Once someone moves back to his little hometown because he can't afford to live in a city anymore, another opportunity for the virus to reach that small town arises.
Oh yes! I'm also extremely thankful that I live in a very isolated area in Europe. You don't really notice the extreme stress and tension here compared to large cities.

America has been living on this tilt for so, so long. My parents were only maybe 15 years away from retirement and they have a salaried job that WILL NOT pay if they DO NOT go into work. They have some savings that will absolutely be wiped out if this doesn't get turned around soon. And by that I mean in a month or two (at the most.) That struck a chord when he said he may not ever see his parents retire. The inequality in this country, the workforce that depends so much on hourly positions, living pay check to pay check. It is absolutely no surprise. My deepest fear is that things will go back to business as usual when this ends. The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. I hope it doesn't happen, but the United States is such an individualistic country that it's hard to imagine a scenario where this doesn't slide into worse territory quickly.
help your parents $$$$
My mom makes $130,000 a year and works from home. Her take-home is maybe half that amount due to social security, medicare, and income taxes. I lost everything in 2018, including my 70k job, had my car repossessed, everything in default. My sister also had to pack her three kids up and move back in after she had her third kid and the guy just walked away again. We've done a lot of work to become financially stable as a household, and this whole economic epidemic has tanked that. My sister is now filing bankruptcy. My mom is having to extend a debt repayment plan she's half-way through. And I'm still swimming in $170k debt post-layoff in 2018.
Right now, we have to be head down, focused on building new skills and being ready to restart the workforce on a substantially improved footing. Learn Excel in and out. Practice your pitch and oration. Cram study a new language. No one can afford to show back up to work without bringing a new skill with them. That's the only way we will avert a major economic downturn.
We all have to innovate our work now. We can't afford to be depressed by the circumstances we've all helped, even in tiny ways, to reach this peak risk and consequence. Do something. Do something big. Do not sit down, raise your hand, and wait to be called. No one's coming to call on you for your questions, concerns, or opportunities.
We got here by division. We need to start adding back in, and multiplying those results to get back to where we were and move forward.
Keep voting liberal buddy...
Josh P how do you have 170k debt? especially if you moved in with your Momma?!?
It's happening right now with the Critical Stimulus Package Bill right now, Big Corps will rob us of our future and our present if there are No protections like the Republicans want - it just goes to a select few.
It makes me so mad that people being stupid and going out even though they are sick and getting others sick spreading the virus more than it should be spread
It is happening everywhere.
Ahem as a New Yorker you do realize we still have jobs to go to? Like a LOT of businesses don't have remote access laptops and even then people need to go out and get food and supplies.
Although there are many people not going outside though. This small majority are those who either go outside for a few hours or whom have to go to work.
Taheem Ahmed but if you are sick why would you go out?
@@Rhythm8503 What's a "small majority" in a city of millions? I'm pretty sure that Famus 801 was speaking in general about everyone worldwide. Having to work is not the end all be all to life. No matter how much or how hard you work, you only ever have two things. Your time and your health. The point of the original comment was that the people (regardless of reason) who are sick and going out infecting others at a rapid rate have no excuse.
Claiming that people have to work is a weak excuse too. It's called sick days and the government is stepping in to honor them and help out.
Bless you guys helping each other. This is one of the toughest times in the country but I know you guys will make it through. Keep safe and stay healthy.
The emotional torment of the lady in the restaurant where 90% of workers were let go...
The woman that cried broke my heart 😥
Which one
I think at the very beginning?!
I started crying with them. Shook my soul
it is also not objective reporting, it is biased media
She’s pretending to cry, its women’s top skill. Probably to help her in legal battles in case she’s sued for firing the staff. One second she’s smiling then she’s crying.
It is getting sad here in NY. Everything changed, so fast, and more keeps happening everyday.
Here in Illinois also. Stay safe🙏
Good
@ITSNOT MYFAULT Your conservative state isn't getting hit because no one wants to travel there...
Sigh. Gotta love UA-cam...
ITSNOT MYFAULT the only main democratic part of NY is the city dont put us non-city goers in with them.
Wow, such a frighting experience. I'm so happy your parents are doing much better. Stay encouraged, as this too shall pass. Thanks for sharing!
The lady that cried when that lady said how are you doing with this really hit hard
I hope this situation helps Americans see how they can improve their health system.
True, the medical bills are only free when you’ve got a famous virus.
Ivan Frances not gonna happen! The drug companies run the healthcare system here in the US and they will never let their cash cow be usurped......even if it is to the betterment of Americans.
things will not go back how it was.....after this everyone will be mandatory to get vaccines and you will lose your privacy. just like after 9/11
and their Personal Finances. The fact that this entire country is gonna fall apart in 2 weeks because over 70% of us live paycheck to paycheck must be changed.
Those of us with 6 or 12 or 18 month Emergency Funds are calmly watching everyone in tears and panicked about losing everything because they missed 2 paychecks.
We sacrificed a lot to be in this position. Gave up many things and experiences. Lived contradictory to America’s Consumption-based way of life. Hopefully people will look back at all their nights drinking in bars instead of at home, all those brunches instead of inviting friends over and cooking for them, all those new clothes instead of thrifting, all those new electronics instead of buying old refurbished model. I pray people will have their eyes opened and work to never fall into this trap again.
Health system?
Capitalism (the one practiced by large corporations not the food cart guy) BROUGHT THIS PROBLEM.
Mother Earth is giving us ONE MORE chance to rethink our way of life.
Wanna know the outcome?
We gonna f...k it up.

My job is close down..and am lock in with my new born and family. A cousin of mine don't speak to me for years. from this virus she talks to me we cook an eat together.. am looking at this thing is a good and bad thing..am just so hurt to hear how many people lives have lost..
It's a wake up call for all of us, it's times like this when you learn to appreciate what you have. It's a benchmark in your life you look back at that keeps you grounded when you start to get out of control. Stay focused!
What if you already appreciated what you have, does then mean all other ambitions are simply fool errands.
absolutely! i really hope this is a major wake up call for Americans to be more responsible and independent. im seeing so many people saying things like "how am i supposed to afford food with no job". the answer is simple, #1 its FEMA protocol to have 1 month+ of food at your home. #2 its personal finance 101 to have 3-6 months of living expenses saved up in an emergency fund. go watch some Dave Ramsey... this also should make people realize that they need to grow a garden. i know not everyone owns a home, but for those that do, if you have a 0.25 acre yard you can grow enough food for your whole family.
during WW2 the government encouraged everyone to grow their own gardens, so the commercial agriculture and logistics could go to the war effort. after the war private home gardens grew more food than the commercial agriculture sector.
why have Americans become so soft and dependent? why have we given up on the basic human animal instinct to be self reliant and plan for the future?
170 years ago my family members went on a journey towards California in hopes of finding gold in the gold rush, and they did pretty well there. on the journey they faced starvation, the cold and attacks by native Americans. they didnt expect daddy government to come save them. why do we depend on government so much today? you're responsible for yourself. its time to bring back the independent self sufficiency that built this country.
i really dont understand how we got to this weak dependent place. what school or university is teaching that government is supposed to support us. i never learned that garbage and im glad i didnt.
for the first 4 years of my working career i worked at near minimum wage. i saved my money, lived frugally and stayed out of debt. its not rocket science.
@Spike Flea definitely, its a straight up national security threat relying on China, our #1 enemy for our supply chains. its stupidity beyond belief. its literally like relying on Nazi Germany in WW2 for our supply chains. it makes no sense.
they are a communist dictatorship that killed 100m of their citizens last century and in 2020 they have 2m innocent muslims in concentration camps.
its not like this is a new thing. we should never have done $1 worth of trade with them.
John Marston Can’t go outside, what shall I do now.
@Trolly Trollsteen I disagree those "deathsquads" would be our US Military and I doubt they would carry out any orders to engage in any activity harming citizens on home soil

Scary for the world, not just NYC
"The City That Never Sleeps" 🤣 . . . Such an EGOTISTICAL label anyway! NOTHING is invincible in this world . . . And that INCLUDES New York City!!! Guess that fact has hit a hellava lot of people in their faces right about now!!! The ONLY invincible thing is GOD ALMIGHTY because He MADE IT ALL. Since God created it, God can also TAKE IT AWAY!!! Now, who wants to be egotistical and invincible now???

I feel so bad for new York and the rest of the world. We have taken so many things for granted, and now that it is gone, we realize how much we needed to appreciate it all. My heart goes out to all the essential services who are all working incredibly hard.
I just want the world to have hope for "Hope is the only thing stronger than fear"
Now is the time to show love to your loved ones. Encourage each other. No matter what happens to any of us, know that we tried our best. It is a very anxiety provoking and depressing situation, but if we have hope it will help us get through it.

First thing I thought too! Rare to see someone who cares so much about their employees these days.
Imagine the one that family, kids, rent, and etc... it's hard bro like me i have family and brother in college 😔😔😔
Imagine being a great boss and being friends with most of your employees and seeing them struggling at this time and having to let them go.

To my kids "when I was your age we were losing jobs to the Great Recession then losing jobs to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Which is conveniently on its way to becoming a depression only a decade after the recession. If this doesn't actually die off for the year in Summer to give us time to rejuvenate like how some are baselessly saying it may, and these multi-trillion-dollar stimulus packages don't work, we'll all be telling that to our kids.
@@cameronf3343 the virus is spreading rapidly in Malaysia which has warm temperatures...I don't think it cares about summer.
Dio Brando Exactly.
@@masterpuni7371 it's a lie our governments know it's not going away during warm weather. They're trying to calm the sheeple into thinking it will be okay and it will be over soon. They know it's not true. Many know it's not true but there are people who can't deal with reality. These sheep would rather be lied to. They are cowards who need reassurance constantly that their lives won't be interrupted. It's a tragedy because these are the ones who need spiritual and psychological help right now instead of pretending this is a movie that will be over soon.
pookiehoney you mean Iran, Saudi Arabia, Australia, the Philippines, Brazil, Spain, and Italy don't have warm weather?

“How has it been for you and your staff emotionally?”
That one question and her response says it all
Smiles Sister I’m still crying 😭 from that 1 part my heart can’t take it lord please make it stop

not really, none of the bad stuff that's happened matter emotionally, the virus nor the economy cares how you feel about it....people are going to learn real quick that getting emotional while trying to struggle to survive is counterproductive.
wuter melons that is true but taking a second to ask or process how your feeling in any given moment is so simple but astonishingly hard. That’s why that question really hit me
And then they are the people that went to spring breakers party.

@@mosesyang4222 China has been treating God's people in a very cruel way for a long time. The judgments of God are at hand. Luke 21 Matthew 24. The writing is on the wall God has had enough with humans and their wicked ways and discounting Jesus Christ. So many people live in spiritual filled so many people do sexually immoral ugly things. The time to repent and be saved is now
@E remember when the NBA had an opportunity to speak out against China and how evil they treat people. How many people chose not to how many chose to defend China. How many people in America were silent rather than speak out for these people that were hurting and oppressed and killed. They chose to put the NBA and entertainment. Everything people have chosen to put before Jesus Christ has been brought to nothing..
the NBA close MLB all the sports idols of the lad have been shut down. The entertainer's have been shut down unholy world has been shut down. Don't you understand God is a jealous God God is tired of people putting all these things before his son. Jesus Christ is coming back God is giving Sinners and opportunity to repent and to think about things
@E you talk like just because people are elderly they haven't been wicked throughout their lives. I know elderly people who would cuss drink mock God talk about how money is the most important thing to them. They're not deserving of going heaven. Many people have chosen not to live lives for God. They are not known to educate people in the ways of Jesus Christ. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. You bring up people like their saints you don't bring up the fact that many of them have cheated on each other they been selfish in the ways they never raised their voices against the in justices and oppression of others. They have not shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their time on Earth. God only gives us so much time and if we waste it on our own sinful self then will not go to heaven.
