The office towers are dark and 90% of restaurants are at risk of closing permanently without government support. Hello... MANY waiters/waitresses ARE artists! And they KNOW that one has to work VERY HARD rehearsing and perfecting one's craft. And artists DO NOT get paid very well (until they "make it"). Ever heard of the term STARVING ARTIST??? Ding, ding, ding! Ask a professional dancer how many hours a day she/he rehearsed (before the pandemic) and how much their salary/rehearsal pay was. And we actually NEED art. It's NATURAL (for healthy humans) to want to create, see and be inspired by art.
Art/entertainment is luxury, it thrives during economic growth, but in times like this, only people with essential skill are unaffected, the world is becoming more and more technical, you need a hard skill to be useful

I do not even know whether all of America is going to be the same after the coronavirus pandemic is over. The economy is not doing very well because of all those lockdowns due to COVID-19 and there are far less tourists.
@Angela I’m glad that people are waking up. I was a conspiracy theory nut and it makes me feel uncomfortable to the things I used to believe in. This is indeed true, its Agenda 2020 New World Order. Before the pandemic happened just 6 months around April 2019. In my hometown in Las Vegas where Executives, Managers, and almost all in the leadership positions were called to resign, terminated, dismissed. Then major CEOs such as American Airlines, MGM Resort, Disney, IBM, Hulu, Linkedln, Volkwagen, Ford, Victoria secret, etc all step down BEFORE the pandemic. Also, it's misleading to indicate that COVID-19 news led to limited reporting on the departures of the CEOs.
@@executivewoman678 so, not black people's body aren't weaker, but stronger? It's not equal but better ? I don't believe anyone is stating back people are weaker, subsequently more likely to get ill. It is in my view a question that black people have a higher rate of heart disease, diabetes, front line employee, and more likely to live in lower income neighborhood. Combining all.this plays in the ability to fight virus and increases possible complications. Black people aren't weaker but living situation increases negative outcome.

I live in NYC. It's been brutal. I came here expecting an unbiased doc by DW. Instead, it's further polarization. Blacks and minorities are not the only people struggling here. Half of the small businesses in my neighborhood have shut permanently - a small portion of them are minority owned. Why does everything have to be based on race? I am disappointed. Politics have destroyed this city and it looks to be the same with DW.
As a group, blacks and latinos faired much worse than their white counterparts due to types of employment, lack of healthcare, poverty, and overcrowding. This is not a race based piiece, it is just stating the facts based on the inequality that various groups possess.
@@ColinYapp this piece was positioned to represent the current state of NYC. It did in the end evolve into a race-based piece. Minorities are not the only people struggling in a city of 8.3 million! The title of the doc should have been different if this was its initial focus. This divisive narrative is counterproductive when the subject is a pandemic. The economic impact is not exclusive to any group of people.
@@JoRonnamo Again, some groups are faring worse than others. That does not mean others are not struggling. I am fortunate because I work in Tech in Silicon Valley so I have maintained my job but get to work from home. However, poorer people in my area, especially Latinos are not quite so lucky because of their types of jobs, poverty and lack of healthcare.
@@ColinYapp Thank you for your condescending lecture on what it is like to live in NYC while you sit in Silicon Valley. Give me a break. I live here. In Brooklyn. I understand the demographic and racial circumstances at play but your thick head will never absorb my initial point. Maybe read a bit more. Do some analysis on the real economic victims across this city which goes well beyond a Broadway actor. Then, maybe you'll see that these victims are not all black, brown, Asian or Trans; in fact, many are white. This documentary gives an opposite perspective claiming that it represents NYC. It doesn't. Enjoy your woke bubble.

Usually but I am in the entertainment industry and doing better than ever because I focused earning online before the pandemic ever began. So grateful 🙏
yes, hopefully "New York and New Yorkers will overcome the crisis"
This comments section is a train wreck 🙈

Just last night 11-25-20 I had a dream that I was going to the Broadway play “Aladdin” a play I actually did see in real life in early 2015 here in NYC. I was so happy and excited to see it again and then I remembered that we are still dealing with COVID in real life and theaters are supposed to be closed then I suddenly woke up to my sad reality.
what a performer !! hang in there. God bless.
The Dream Never dies, We the People went to sleep., We have forgotten that we're the power, but we're divided!.
Good video , thank for your sharing
OMG! Tamika Lawrence you are awesome! As I watch you in this video I realize that what your doing in this video is strong a great example for the rest of the world to follow, my wish your vid here goes VIRAL AND VIEWED MAINSTREAM! I think it is better for people to see and hear something like you to be transpired to positive greasy air, you breathing new life that people desperately need since we have no darn stimulus check! But thank God we have you, continue to be you and praise!
So this jewelry business just works? Someone is lying. I've tried starting businesses for 20 years. It just doesn't work that way....
It all has to do with marketing and advertising and how you network
😄!
thanks for keeping it real.
Whoever is reading this, you will be successful one day. Let's do this for the future. #ebenteeentertainment
Hi everyone I am 67 years old and never came across anything like this in my life before bought up RC with Nun's in my early years and had a very bad experience and that kept me away from religious beliefs, however I always felt a strong sense of good and evil, When I came across Charlie freak ❤ and listening to him resonated with all that was missing in my own sense of Humanity and has lifted me up so much I feel like I'm going my life has been really Changed to a more forfilling life and then listening to Josh it just makes sense to me. However I am finding it hard to stop myself from eating my foods that have been with me all my life 🙃
Have faith newyork, you will recover. You will get through this.
My prayers of Employment is

Hello Sherry
She seems like a really nice person. Wishing her luck
I do not even know whether all of America is going to be the same after the coronavirus pandemic is over. The economy is not doing very well because of all those lockdowns due to COVID-19 and there are far less tourists.
Thanks to strict regulations? Really? Turned it off done with this channel until they learn science study virology and understand human biology!
@Angela stupid conspiranoic gringo
@Angela that Angela only seems to be able to make this same copy and paste statement everywhere. Smh
Me too....bye!!! Black people and our bodies are wsy stronger but the keep putting it out there that we are weaker and THST IS NOT TRUE!!!
Save money in good times and diversify: teach online, in person, find a second job, there are options.
Cut the credit card first.
*NEXT JUNE?!* 😱😱😱
This pandemic brought many to tears and on their knees...as one who lived in NY for many years when i see what Manhattan has come to i ask myself what next...sad...really sad...😢😢😢❤❤❤👐👐👐🔥🔥🔥⛤⛤⛤
It will definitely return. New Yorkers are resilient. Actually rents have dropped, so many are finding much reduced apartments.
Wow she has a great voice!
It remains and elusive mystery that people in this country “question whether black Americans are still systematically disadvantaged” in the US. Hint: racism has been here since before and after Trump. That should be abundantly understood.
Really like Josh and Tamika. Very well spoken. Hoping they stay strong and get through this.
Well spoken?
@@1991-present People say that a lot (far too often) about Native Black Americans. It's a shame...they really must get out more often. Or, since/if they are in lockdown during the pandemic, watch UA-cam videos in which other Native Black Americans are speaking...people like James Baldwin, Janine (her UA-cam channel name is Blue Diamond Life) Serena Williams, Irami Osei-Frimpong, Malcolm X, Joy DeGruy, Cornell West, Yvette Carnell...there are "well spoken" Black Americans everywhere, the media just promotes stereotypes. They love to keep that lie going strong. And it's obviously working...still...sadly.
Much love ♥️ to you, MissShey! XOX!
@@lemostjoyousrenegade I have only just seen this comment, thankyou! X

Lovely girl tamika dont give up your a star everyday 💫💥💫💥💫😘💚💚
V good info
It’s really hard out there!
If you're grown living with your parents, don't be a burden. Always help in any/every little way. It's a temporary situation, but if you need more time I'm sure mom/dad don't mind cause you're making efforts to better your situation. FAMILY♥️
The entire time I was thinking "Damn, Tamika is so gorgeous". Oh she is, she is so beautiful.

It's survival mode now. Best wishes to you Tamika. 🙏🏾💜🙏🏾💜
Agreed.
Tamika - thanks so much for making sure your products are made in the U.S. So many people need jobs!
Nice doc
She can still work! Its not over bcus the theater is closed.
How?
@@Liitebulb get a damn job. It won't be doing what she wants but it will pay the bills. Plus her friends started a yt production she can too.
@@Liitebulb , how? By getting a real job. She pursued her dreams but nowhere in our nation’s Consitution or laws does it guarantee a comfortable living. You have to work for it. Period.
@@Liitebulb there are no guarantees in life! Shit happens ALWAYS. Ppl spend yrs in college only to get out and there are no jobs in that field. She was blessed to receive a taste of her labor. Millions NEVER get that opportunity! They wait tables work in retail do what regular ppl do to survive. Ppl have jobs making 6 figures for decades then get downsized. Those ppl have to start over. Currently ppl have children and homes who lost their jobs they lost way more than she did. She's young starting over is not as hard. Imagine being in your late 50s losing everything! The job market isn't checking for ppl in that age bracket. Its bad but not the end.
Luxury buildings are still being built in NY for the much well off.
