I do have a question, do I need my Diploma to get my License? I don't have it 😕 dropped out of High school at a young age and never crossed my mind to get my GED, it sucks if I'm gonna need it 2 become a Phlebotomiest.... Thank you
Hi, great question. Yes you do need to show that you graduated high school. The phlebotomy program will ask for some proof before starting the course(unofficial college or high school transcript) and once you are at the last step for applying for your state license you have to mail in your sealed official transcripts to the NHA.
Thanks for the info.! I wish I would taken a course that iij included all fees. Tuition was $3,100 plus books $125, CPR $65, drug screen and background $75, liability insurance $40, NHA exam $120 plus uniforms and acceptable wrist watch. I am currently waiting for my externship to be scheduled. I live 35 minutes south of San Jose. Also, we did most of new material on our own. I did the Saturday accelerated class, too. No refunds whether you passed or not. I'm glad I've made it this far. Best wishes to you. Have you been hired as a phlebotomist, yet ?
Yeah that was pretty expensive 🥲 but you’re almost done! That’s awesome. Im a full time grad student currently so I haven’t been working, but as soon as I do I’ll make an update!
This was great information! I’ve been contemplating phlebotomy for a couple months now. After watching your video i I feel like I should go for it! I’ve been out of school for 11yrs now😮💨 I’m so nervous about it. I wish I had just done it sooner.
Congratulations! But when you say license, do you mean certificate? I take my exam for NHA in December, but it’s for my national certification. I only paid 819.00 which included the test and classes are 11 wks on Saturdays from 9a-1p. Glad I don’t live in Cali! 😅 Four wks to go and btw… we do a PAID two week externship! Great vid, thx for sharing! #MichiganStrong
Passed by NHA! Put CPT behind my name and some RESPEK! 😂 Finishing up my externship next week and start my new position as a Phlebotomist January 2024!
Hello!! I just passed my CPT exam.. I would like to go for the license as well.. what are the requirements , also what type of facility to do recommend to start working as an certified phlebotomist to gain the experience?? Thanks
If you’ve taken your exam, that means you’ve finished your 40 hours of classroom training. The next step is completing your externship! Your program should direct you through that process. I can’t yet give job recommendations, since I’m focusing on being a full-time student. But I’ll make an update on that when I can!
I took my course at the phlebotomy training specialists and loved it! But finding the right fit for you is important so I would consider at least a couple other programs as well.
Certificate & license are used interchangeably for the most part As long as you passed your class, your state exam, externship, and submitted all your documents to the state- you’re good!
Hello im in a phlebotomist program right now I miss my first draw my teacher said I went In “too slow” can you give any tips on how to go in fast without hurting
I try and anchor as taut as possible with my left hand, while holding my right hand steady with my pinky or ring finger That way when I poke the patient it glides in Being fast isn’t necessarily the best solution I say just be confident in your abilities and the rest will follow 🙂
Okay what’s the update?! I took the same course but in Sacramento. I just passed my test and now I’m just waiting for my externship. Have you found a job yet?? I’m curious
Usually your phlebotomy program will match you to an externship! Once you pass your written exam. After those, you apply for your state license and look for work :)
The company I did my training with (Phlebotomy Training Specialists) didn’t let me pick! I was randomly matched to a private practice based on my location. Hope this helps 🙂
I'm finishing school, then the exam. I'm so worried and afraid, I won't bother you if I ask a few questions? questions in the exam, the teacher gives tests in the classroom, the questions in the exam are the same? and where can I prepare thoroughly for the exam? Is it difficult to pass it? Our internship is 40 hours, it takes a month, or can I work 8 hours a day and finish in a week? I will be very grateful if you answer. Thank you
Sorry I'm just now getting back to you! I felt that the questions on the exam were around the same difficulty as the practice questions our instructor gave us. But it depends on what they use. I didn't use any other resources than our manual and those practice questions. The externship should be completed in one week. If you need more time or miss a day you would have to coordinate with your program to make it up

Great video! How many question was on the NHA exam, if you can remember? I'm scheduled to take mine next month.
You’ve probably taken your test already, but I believe it was about 150!

is it state license? so can work only in CA? i heard i can use the license any other states as well.
It is a state license! I'm not sure what you would need to do to be able to work in other states. I imagine each state has a different process
❤💜
So after matric should I apply for a phlebotomy learnership then find a training school so that's it?

Hi
Am from South Africa and am a phlebotomist, how do I then register with California board in order for me to get a job that side
I’m not sure how/if your license can transfer over to California. I would reach out to California’s Department of Public Health to ask!
Which location did you pick?
The company I did my training with (Phlebotomy Training Specialists) didn’t let me pick! I was randomly matched to a private practice based on my location. Hope this helps 🙂
How long did it take for your license application to get approved
If I remember correctly it took about 2 weeks!
In Worcester they’re offering free training, im guessing phlebotomists are in increasing demand
Wow, thats lucky. It looks like it!
