I would recommend to use wrist wrap with a carabiner hook attachment. With it he will not need to grip the handles and it will disengaged most his arms in all the pulling movements to train n focus on the back without incorporating much of arms.
Hany why don't any of the athletes you train do pull ups? I've noticed that very few back training videos include pull ups in their routines. Is the pull up considered obsolete?

Clearly you don't understand the judging criteria of body building its about overall balance of a build and flow if one body part is overly dominant it takes away from the rest of the body's flow this is more common than you think in bb.there are many top tier bbers that don't particularly train a certain part.nick the mutant has such huge arms he gets enough stimulation from training back etc.its alot harder in the lighter categories tho in open judges tended to reward freaky parts l.classic etc is all about balance and lines.but yes everyday gym guys like us bigger is better 😉

Strap do help, however it is best to know the fundamentals with form then relying only on straps

pull ups is a waste of times for bodybuilding
Because it's tough to change the resistance in pull-ups. It's a lot easier to do that in lat pulldowns which makes it more convenient.
