I find that I start to loose the mind muscle connection near the end when I'm too pumped or just tired so starting with the lift that you can squeeze the target muscle over the lift that you can move the most weight has helped me. The 3rd and 4th set of flies if it's your first lift almost cramps up because you can squeeze so hard.
Yup I have a habit, of exploding the weight from the bottom and controlling it down, that's lit how most ppl will teach you to lift, and it's good, but if you really wanto improve your chest, do exactly what you said, in the bottom position, flex and control it

Since i`ve started from a young a age doing them at 45 and felt them well and ever since i shifted to 30 degree angle since its apparently the correct way textbook wise and lately some studies say 15 degree angle on incline is the best for upper chest. Why do you use 59s for flies? I'm strong but not as strong as these guys but doing 50s on fly for me even I feel like I need 20 reps to get close to burning out

@@burimb9059 grand scheme yes, pumps just come from doing the exercises = Blood flow. But if you keep doing the exercises and progressively overload via weight or reps you will get stronger, getting stronger bigger muscles. The pump is just a secondary thing from it all.

Hes loaing that tension because he still uses that old school ideology of ahoukders down and back, it more shoulders down amd chest up. People say the scaps get in the way if they dont do the ideology but in reality if you shoulder down and flatten that back with the chest up it kind of points the shoulder and makes that pec stretch but the scaps alide across the thorax and because the shoulder is forward, at the top you get great contraction...gonna have to lessen the weight tho because it actually targets the chest vs ideology and your tris and shoulders taking more of the push over. Shalom!

Except there is an exact science to this. Mind muscle connection is completely useless. Set up an exercise properly, execute it properly and guess what, the target muscle will work no matter what you feel or dont feel. Same goes for time under tension, its useless since we know the ONLY factors for hypertrophy(muscle growth) are mechanical tension and progressive overload. Hany telling Derek to do something that feels more uncomfortable will only make Derek be able to use less weight, resulting in having to do more reps to achieve failure, causing more overall fatigue. If Hany wasnt so high on himself and was willing to read a few studies, talk to some people, he could offer his clients the actual, high quality advice that they need and not something based on nothing more than sensation
Damn near everything he talks about isn't rocket science to those who have train for years. A major part of his success is his access to serious gear and it's proper use. He's more of an incredible chemist than fitness trainer.
