I'm an American truck driver. I've driven I 80 more times than I'd like to admit. A small location that I think would be great to explore is a truck stop called Little America. A big 'ol travel stop just off of i 80. I can see a place like that full of broken down cars, trucks, & tractor trailers just ready to be blown up to kill the hoards of ferals infesting the place. There's a food court, bathrooms, hotels, big ol' parking lots. Tha'd be a blast.

How to make good fallout game:
      1. Get a hoard of truck drivers and locals who know the area of the to-be game really well
      2. Interview and get tons of location ideas like this
      3. Add faction and world design like in the video
      4. Use a real game engine
      5. Do whatever else is involved in making a game
      6. Make sure it's good
      7. Make lots of money and get appreciated by fans
There you go Todd get to work

I think Caesar's death would be much like the death of Alexander the Great despite the established line of succession. Without his leadership there would inevitably be a fight for power. The true believers, the ambitious warlords and those who never truly bought into Caesar's Regime would be at each others' throats as they seek to take control of the Empire or declare autonomy. To me the perfect New Vegas sequel would include a situation akin to the Wars of the Diadochi, where a handful of the strongest factions establish territory and endlessly try to take control of the entirety of Caesar's broken empire.

      @calexander7495 4 роки тому +16

@@nicholaswarren7110 I'm not really basing it off what Ulysses said, although he and Marcus share a similar opinion. I'm basing it off what I know of history and human psychology. Even if pretty much all the Legion was populated by true believers in Caesar's ideology, within a few generations there would be internal conflict over who understands Caesar's message best and who has the right to rule. It's always what happens in autocratic successions, many wars have been fought over who gets to be the next King, even when the last one leaves clear instructions on who gets to be next. It's why the Ottoman Princes used to murder all their brothers when they inherented the throne, so none would challenge them.
Caesar was a demagogue, his ruke was essentially a cult of personality built around his knowledge and his theatrical use of Roman themes. At it's core he teaches a fanatical, militaristic doctorine. War mongering fanatics are bound to come into conflict over a change in power, it's just what happens.
Now add in the slavery, the repressive ideals, the brutality, and how young his Empire is and you're bound to have others that are just waiting for the opportunity to break off on their own or use the Legion to their own ends. He forcefully integrated a lot of tribes, not all of them are going to think the subjugation was for the better.

Great timing. I've recently been spending the majority of all of my downtime every day creating a Fallout setting based around the ruins of Kentucky in 2279, which has lead me into meticulously crafting lore around the Dixie Wasteland consisting of areas around Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee (it's crazy how much fluff you need to make to have an explanation of what's going on AROUND your game area and to compliment an interesting faction. And how much work and research it takes to make things fit nicely in an already established world.) It's been really fun and seeing things like this keeps me motivated to see it through.
As a way to explain horses, (what I've taken to calling RadSteeds) that could actually fit in with my works as well. I have a faction that holds up in the ruins of Churchill Downs (now a fortress town called Twin Spires) called the Thoroughbred Society. They're a group of aristocrats (yes, of course they wear funny derby hats) whose ancestors were the big rich people behind the Kentucky Derby pre-war. With the paranoia behind the impending war, these people spent a considerable amount of their fortunes building a large personal bunker network with stables and tracks included in order to preserve their families trades of horse breeding and racing. Elitist nepotistic legacy seeking doesn't stop just because the world ends, after all, and these guys wanted their descendants to have the monopoly on horses when their bunker doors could be opened. Post-war, these people still host races for the wealthy to partake in as well as being responsible for spreading the trade of domesticated RadSteeds. Maybe the horses in the Great Plains came from here? At least in my head they are lol
Sorry about the novel I've been very passionate about this little project of mine.
Edit: Dang I had the Turkey idea too. In mine I called them Terrorbirds and they have the ability to use their gobbler to let out a deafening call to attract nearby Terrorbirds to help them.

The only thing I can think is Enclave involvement somehow, considering their whole goal was to leave the planet originally.
It won't be in my game's world space, but it would still be in good practice to work that out.

      Ideas for that:
A New Vegas type conflict over the Wilson Dam in Alabama
A DLC where you can go to Cuba from New Orleans, drawing inspiration from Fallout Miami for Cuba
Nashville’s Strip has become something of a Proto-New Vegas with Crime Families living in the famous building (Hockey Stadium, The Grand Ole Opry, Football Stadium)
Factions Fighting for control of the main part of the Tennessee River
      A Johnny Cash-Inspired Biker Gang
The NCR having a small presence in Western Louisiana from Texas, which they took over after the fall of Caesar’s Legion
I can see this going somewhere.

    • @AAllen-br8it
      @AAllen-br8it 4 роки тому +5

      @@samh3805
There was a historical conflict over Wilson Dam sometime between 2258 and 2278, during the Tennessee Valley War, where the Dixie Confederation marched north of the 22, along the 65, and annexed the lands around Wheeler Lake during their main campaign of struggling to push into the Tennessee Valley. Their main goal for beginning this war was because Moonshine was outlawed by the DC back in 2246, and the Tenn. Valley was the main route for the drink to be smuggled into Dixie controlled territories. However, They were heavily resisted and suffered great losses to the hands of the TVA (Tennessee Valley Alliance) who formed due to the DC's presence. This consists of factions in the valley, including the massive Seven Lakes Clan, who operate out of the City of Seven Lakes (Knoxville). The furthest they were ever to push in the Tenn. Valley was to Chattanooga, a city they barely hold on to now.
The war was eventually called off by now President Redmond, who has been instead focusing his efforts on pushing north through the territories of the Nash (Nashville), which they managed to "take" though they really only have say over the settlements around the city (who is control of other factions, a Cash inspired gang will probably find it's way in there now). This campaign goal is to push into Kentucky (the Mesial Heartland) and take control of the newly operational coal fields, which has caused the Coal Rush of '79 (the main, "Hoover Dam" like struggle of the game.) Two parties of the DC have different ideas of what to do with the coal, one wanting to fix the DC's inflating Fiat currency by backing it with coal, the other wanting to exploit the resource to advance industry and make themselves wealthier. This also comes with the added goal of reaching the Shiners of Eastern KY to eliminate the source of the Moonshine coming to the Dixie, negating any need to push into the Tenn. Valley again.
The actual world space only takes place in Kentucky, which Is known as the Mesial Heartland. And unfortunately this is for a Fallout PnP campaign, but if I had the knowledge, time and resources to make it into a Frontier-like mod, I would fucking LOVE to put in the time and work to make this happen. Were that ever happen outside of my dreams, there would certainly be DLC for the Nash, Seven Lakes, Cincinnati, and some other location I haven't thought of yet.
Also, about your NCR idea, this game takes place in 2279 so the NCR hasn't even made direct contact with the Legion yet, they're not going to be anywhere near Louisiana (the Bayou) at this point. Not to mention that I kind of want to separate from all of the stuff going on in the West and show how the Dixie kind of developed separate from all of that.

One idea I actually thought would be cool would be if instead of having a raider gang in the satellite station it would be a small group of enclave remnants. I feel like maybe during your trip to Woodspoke the people there will talk of a strange creature that only comes out at night, describing it as dark with two orange glowing eyes. They say that many have pursued the creature but none have returned, but when you travel into the mountains the enclave instead choose to enlist your services. I thought perhaps like the Mojave Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel, they'd also have power struggles, with one group remaining xenophobic and wanting to wipe out all mutants and the other just wanting to rebuild America. One thing I thought of was having the two groups being led by known enclave decendants, with the xenophobic group under the leadership of one of Dick Richardson's decendants and the other led by Augustus Autumn the third and his brother named something like James, (Provided the lone wanderer chose to let Colonel Autumn live.) And their reasoning for scouting the town is they want to acquire a pre-war cache filled with weapons and other rare pieces of technology the people of Woodspoke built their town on. The Richardson ending to this side plot would involve accusing major Autumn and his brother of being traitors to the United States for abandoning the enclaves original mission and kill everyone in the town and burn away their houses to get to the cache, later building a base on the ashes. Or you could side with the people of Woodspoke and destroy the enclave leaving their homes intact. Or you could side with Major Autumn and his brother chief scientist James, to convince the enclave to abandon purity and focus on rebuilding America, in which they take a diplomatic approach to Woodspoke giving military protection as well as using some of the tech from the cache to provide electricity and clean drinking water. Later in the game it would be possible for Richardson to join Thomas Praxton to use their weapons and advanced equipment to help destroy the Pariah League, the 80s, and later the Khans. Or if you side with the Autumn brothers you could again convince them to work with the pioneers, or you could convince them to ally with the Pariahs or the Hands of the Father, however the Khans and 80s will always be undisputed enemies as the enclave aren't fans of their raider like activity and the Khans dislike them because of the enclaves disregard for nature. I also thought it would be cool if there was an enclave companion you could take with you who's also conflicting with the two groups and you could convince him to either follow the enclaves original mission in which case he becomes hostile to the Pariah League or you can convince him otherwise and he'll become more excepting of mutants, but he'll still be a military man. And finally I thought it would be cool if many of the more xenophobic choices were only possible if you took a trait I like to call "True Human" where your uncorrupted human DNA makes you 20% more susceptible to diseases but you're much better with scientific skills.

Caesar seemed to follow the story of his historical counterpart, so I think it would have only made sense for him to have chosen an heir. A more interesting idea is to make the Legion like the Western and Eastern empires (Byzantines), as this is implied to be what’ll happen if they win at the dam anyway. I had an idea recently, for the western Legion to be a backwater, poor, weak, “empire” in New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado, barely clinging to life and being constantly invaded, and immensely corrupt, just like the WRE.
Meanwhile, the eastern legion finds its “Constantinople”, and learns from Caesar’s mistakes. It becomes more open to technology, and is less about a unified culture…. In a sense, like a continuation of the Byzantines. I even had an idea for them to have their own mutant version of the Varangian guard (I do know the Legion is anti-mutant, I just think that’s awesome), and they eventually find and conquer Memphis.
This is a much more interesting idea and it’s more in line with that everyone says will happen it to the Legion.

"Fallout 80" Following the remains of the largely destroyed Interstate 80, your character is part of the first major effort to reconnect the East and West coasts. (So, timeline would be about a century after the bombs fell). Bringing back the Karma mechanic, word of how you act gets ahead of you and can set the stage for the next area, and ultimately, the end of the game. You establish safe rest stops, and clear hazards as you make your way back to California. Yep, that's right, your character survived the initial nukes, and became a ghoul. (Your character was on business in New York, and was Ghoulified from the ones that hit the city). What awaits you in California is completely up to what your Karma is. The basic story is one of movement and rebuilding as you go. I know it is rough, but I think it could work.

As someone who lives in the Salt Lake Valley, your Southern cutoff point for the map would be dreadful if the edges of the map are handled the same way they usually handle them - the amount of industrial, urban, and metropolitan accumulation right where you cut the map off would mean players would wander into Salt Lake, and they'd have to see signs of more stuff to the South, and when they'd go looking, they would be cut off, probably somewhere in the middle of a lot of (traditionally) densely populated areas
It's hard cutting off anywhere there is a city in Northern Utah because the way they build here, they just grow communities until they reach other communities. The entire Salt Lake Valley is pretty much continuous urban centers, broken up by the most disgusting of industrial zones and equally disgusting metropolitan city areas. It would be very difficult cutting off the map anywhere in that general area.

My input: I’d like if the ending of New Vegas was left slightly more ambiguous. I know a lot of people like the Independent ending, but I’m a diehard “NCR Golden End” which I don’t think is fully incompatible with Independent if you do it right. It would just be a shame to see the NCR straight up defeated after F1 and F2’s worth of growth.
Second is I think a fun quest would be an “For Auld Lang Sine” type mission but with Legion remnants. Pretty much exclusively if you want to turn the 80s or the Khanate MUCH more evil and sort of forebode that the Legion isn’t fully dead in some way, but no way to utilize the remnants if you’re going for a more peaceful route.
I like the focus on tribal cultures. NV and Honest Hearts were great in that regard and this looks like a continuation of those themes.

I only watched your TES content since I'm always warey about watching Fallout opinion videos due to the fandom being so toxic. This right here is now my favorite video. This idea for a setting is so fucking thought out and amazing, I want to play it so badly. Maybe I'll try to run a Fallout set ttrpg campaign based on everything here. Idk, but it sure got me so excited I just had to buy that badass shirt you guys are selling. From the rabid fanboy in me, thanks Fudgemuppet.

Great video guys! After playing New Vegas last year I thought of how the developers of the fallout franchise could reboot it to its glory days before fallout 76 and make an awesome game again. And I must say, this is it. This is the perfect fallout game. The concept feels really fresh and exiting but at the same time really classic thanks to the great khans influencing this concept a lot and also much of Utah and Wyoming being influenced by old choices that the courier did in New Vegas. All the factions feel really fresh, cool and complex. I also love that the player isn’t forced into some kind of story like in fallout 4 but instead gets to choose their own story. Honestly great video. For me this would be the next perfect fallout game. It’s an awesome story that I would love to explore and I really don’t see how the developers of fallout could create a more interesting story and concept than this.

Listening to you guys talk about the locations and imagining all these places I know ruined and iradiated sounds like a perfect fallout game. You guys did your research for sure. You are missing some good locations though that could be used to add even more to this. Like Duchesne Utah a town on the edge of starvation reservoir that would have dried up being in the desert.

I do have an idea for a DLC.
The legion is shattered. During the battle of Hoover Dam, Caesar was killed by the Securitrons beneath Fortification Hill. Without their leader, the legion was shattered into two main forces: The Loyalists, and the Republicans.
The Loyalists are those who stand by the Caesars beliefs and philosophies. They're lead by Lucius, who'd renamed himself Augustus. They're brutal slavers, and would be the more evil faction.
The Republicans are the smaller, but better trained and better equipped side of the legion civil war. They're lead by a figure named The Consul, and are a more open society. They would have more advanced gear, and make use of mercenaries and female legionnaires.
Main quest would be simple: choose a side, and beat the other. But, I could think of a number of smaller quests. For the Loyalists, things like slaving missions, raids, and making examples of towns and people. For the Republicans, these would be recruiting, hunting down Loyalist raiders, and protecting territory.
Armor and weapons could be of a decent variety. Loyalists would have armor inspired by the Caesars New Regime mod, along with more tribal or older equipment like slings and hand-cranked gatling guns, along with the typical pistols, throwing spears, and machetes. Republicans would have armor made of Pre-war combat armor, a special "auxiliary" helmet based of the Montefortino, and wield more advanced weapons.
I call it: FALLOUT: VENI, VIDI, VICI.
    What do you think?

Imagine a super control vault. It is giant underground city that stretches miles underground with multiple entrances and was meant to house about 200,000. When the bombs dropped. Riots broke out at the entrances allowing more than double the vaults capacity in. The city developed a class pyramid. The original dwellers who paid to get in use the ones who broke in as slaves and cattle, but eventually there are uprisings that lead loads of different wars and conflicts. Even better, after an emergency shutdown, the doors jammed and would could no longer open from either side. With the right materials and a high backing skill. The player can gain entrance to the underground city. I see this as a far harbor sized DLC. The player decides what happens to the city. With one option being blowing it all to hell.

Overall, I imagine it to be relatively the same in terms of culture, religion, and ideology.

I spent a lot of time fishing on the Weber River nearby. Anyway, it would make way more sense to use Coalville or Hennefer as a base because there would be more buildings and resources left from before. Maybe cyborg horses would be a possibility, too? What about those gigantic mole rat pack animals shown in the Fallout 3 concept art? Or a regular mole rat companion? I also love your idea of dangerous mutant turkeys. Perhaps they would resemble prehistoric "terror birds"? I've thought Fallout needed something like that for a long time.
