  • I recently posted a performance video which used some NASA radio communications samples, and a viewer asked for a video which showed how I processed and chopped those samples - so here it is! We take a look at processing the audio, chopping slices, creating patterns, and adding performance effects.

    Nice tips!
I wonder why you & @Nicethings Don't get more views?
You guys may need to to try changing your IP to the US or something, it doesn't make sense with all the great content you both put out.
    Keep up the great work!

I think it’s because we make very Force-specific videos and the user base for Force is quite small compared to MPC. Even Akai’s Force videos have relatively small view counts for the most part. I wish Akai would get behind Force a bit more on the marketing front, help make it more popular. They hardly ever make video or Instagram posts for it, it’s definitely the runt of the litter as far as their promo efforts are concerned!

Is it possible to be doing all of this in a cue mode so that all of the audio isn't coming out of the master output and instead the headphones output? Otherwise, impossible to do this in a live setting.

Hey! thankyou for putting this up! youre a gem! As soon as you put the drum groove against the 'this is suit pressure gauge' it blended....sounds daft but I didnt realise you could make your sample end points overlap. Watching the EQ on the mixer just for the track. I need to lay off the performance effects.....you wake up 2 hours later having made no progress having been in zen somewhere listening to infinite variation....

Force is such a powerful device, I'm always blown away by all the things you can do with it it.. I have so much more to discover, it will keep me busy for months/years until I get bored of it! I feel like I can't be in a way restricted on a creative way with it, no more excuses to be tempted by a new fancy device...
I miss randomization on notes triggering though, but 🤞
Great video, and it feels totally like you're cruising on the workflow which is sometime weird for me (context), but probably more intuitive (for me again) than MPC as I'm more familiar with Live, and this was why I choose that device (64 pads/8 macros and arranger mostly).

I believe probability will be added on next firmware since it was added to the MPC finally with latest update. It is very much needed. On a plus note Roland just did an update for the TR8s last week and it finally got probability so at least one of my main devices has it and gives me even more hope that the Force will gain it as companies are realizing it is a must have option by users nowadays.
Workflow comes with time. It is a complex device so it takes a bit to start to master it, for the most part Akai did a really good job with the workflow on the Force. A few big workflow improvements are still needed, but for the most part I am impressed with the workflow considering how complex of a device it is. After 6 months of extensive use my workflow comfortability has drastically improved and sped up.

Thank you, glad you liked it! As David commented, looks like probability will come in the next update, that will be really good. I wish they would introduce drum track exploding too, I really miss that from MPC. Makes exporting to mix a lot easier.

Thank you! Plenty more in the pipeline, and I’ll be taking a look at the new firmware soon too.

Nice video. I’ll often use the zero crossing snap when setting start and end points on pad parameters in order to avoid artifacts at the beginning and end of the sample clip.
