Texture & Drone Synth Demo - Sugar Bytes Aparillo
The good folk at Audio Plugin Deals offered me a free copy of Sugar Bytes Aparillo, in return for making a video about / with it. TLDR, it's really good, so instead of doing a review, I decided to make some music with it so you can hear it in context. The VST is currently on sale, down to $39 from $99. If you'd like to pick it up, here is an affiliate link (I get a kick back if you buy it)

Akai Force Is King, But The Kingdom Needs To Grow

Some music I made with the Akai Force, and some thoughts I had about the groovebox 'scene' as it stands. Do you agree, disagree, or never read video descriptions? The project file for this track is available as a free download for Patreon supporters: www.patreon.com/maxipokmusic/shop/140956
Turning Bass Guitar into a Lush Pad #akaiforce

Pulled my trusty P Bass out of its case this weekend, and had a go at sampling it to make a keygroup pad for the Force. I think it turned out quite well in the end... If you would like to support my channel, you can join my Patreon here: www.patreon.com/maxipokmusic

Happy New Year Force Users. It's been three weeks since my last video, which is the longest I've left between uploads in two years. Decided to take the holiday's off and recharge the musical batteries a bit. Anyway, I'm back now, obviously. My Best Akai Force Drums Yet #akaiforce
Переглядів 75011 місяців тому
Quite pleased with the drums on this one, spent a lot of time tweaking the compressor and Flavour settings to get some crunch that really popped through the mix. Aside from a couple of samples, this is all Force. I'm liking the new Air Chorus and Vintage Filter quite a bit. The filter in particular is quite deep, there are some interesting presets in there would work nicely for transitions if y...
Building A DIY Synth Kit To Use With the Akai Force #akaiforce
Переглядів 81311 місяців тому
I was very kindly given a Haynes DIY synth kit for a birthday, and thought filming the process of building it and using it with the Force might make for an interesting little video. I hope you enjoy it, and please excuse my lousy voice over skills, first time I've tried it! If you enjoy my videos and would like to support the channel, you can join my Patreon, which also gives you download acces...
A Different Kind Of Akai Force Video

I wanted to make a piece of music without worrying about making it interesting to watch by way of performance trickery. So I filmed my journey home the other day and tried to make an interesting video to accompany the music. I hope you like it. Akai Force Tutorial: Crossfader A/B Automation Workaround
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
This tutorial was inspired by a conversation on the 'Akai Force' Facebook group. The default or A/B crossfader setup allowed you to assign tracks to either side of the crossfader, and blend between them. This works fine live, but the crossfader movements aren't recorded as automation in the arranger, which is bad if you are capturing a performance. This video shows you a method to achieve exact...
Akai Force Performance - I found the Force's Mixing Limit
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
This is probably the most challenging Force video / performance I've made. Fully intended to do it all in the Force, but there is so much going on musically, I just couldn't get it sounding right mixing it in the box. This leads me to error number one - I mapped the drum mutes to submixes, thinking I'd just bounce out a stereo mixdown. But when I realised that wasn't going to work, I bounced ou...
Akai Force Performance: BeatandDelete SNES Sample Pack Jam
Переглядів 662Рік тому
BeatandDelete very kindly sent me a free copy of their SNES sound pack, so I thought I would make a jam with it. All the sounds in this video are from the pack, aside from the acoustic drums, bass, and the absolute nonsense coming out of soon-to-be-incarcerated Donald Trump's mouth. The sample pack is great, there are some really great sounds in there and the keygroups are really well made. Ful...
Akai Force Improvisation - Spot The Mistakes!
Переглядів 447Рік тому
Bit different from my usual stuff, I just fancied noodling around on something trance-y for fun. It sounded ok so I switched the cameras on. As you can tell, improvisation isn't my strong suit, lots of mistakes in here and it's not a polished performance by any means. Akai Force & MPC: Do You Get Less Input Latency With Am Audio Interface?
19:52 time.
Great tip! Does the MFX of each clip also change or does it remain the same throughout the same track?
I feel sad, that I cannot see more Force tutorials from you! I like them so much and I learned a lot! 👍🙏
Thanks!
@@pirestube thank you very much, I really appreciate the tip! 🙏🙂
Ok literally my first hour with the Akai Force watching Your first hour with the Akai Force . Here we go !
I’m looking to add samples to my setup which is, digitone (brain) m/c for drums and bs2 for bass. I use song mode for live performances and wondering how these work with each other? I am stuck with too many options like the blackbox, rytm or octatrack. I may be okay with one of these new synths becoming the brain.
You and Tubedigga seem to have a lot in common..... just got a force, so this is invaluable to me. Excellent teaching style. Already have an mpc one, interesting to see the operational crossovers.
Great sound!!! How did you sync both devices???
Exactly the video I was looking for, thanks! I'm still having trouble figuring how to send MIDI CCs from Force to other hardware as the MIDI config box doesn't have an option for CC which I thought was odd... the Macro knob mapping tip is helpful so I'll give that a whirl and see if I can get it working with my DSI Evolver for external control. Thanks for posting this.
You nailed it 🎉
Where’s pink pantheress?
That neo sound you are talking about was made with the Roland VP9000 that was one of the first maschines that could change speed without pitch in a useable way, but it also had the feature tu basically go to speed 0% so the sound would just stop on one single synth sine or saw wave. But it's basically build on granular synthesis or addictive where a sample is cut up in micro pieces. So what you hear is the choppy gaps between the sample pieces when you make it longer, and the force is not doing so much to them so more choppy edges and less CPU use. But it sounds great to get some old school time stretch sounds, from the early 90s, but not for natural sound.
great find!!!
Very wise words. Thank you!
I just want to point out one other useful tip to help with this effect. Some of the effects in touchfx will kill the sound after the effect is generated, like the tape stop, which isn't useful for playing around with on the macro controls cause the sound disappears. And some effects you may want to go back to an unaffected state after the triggering the effect. Long story short.. learn the "touch enable" button to the same knob you use for the touch strip, and set it to "toggle mode" so that when touching the knob it will enable touch strip, and releasing it (when you're done messing with the macro) will shut it off and revert to unaffected again!
Can you help me? I don't understand this at all. Why is the effect completely turned off when "touch enable" is turned off? Isn't that the same as turning the effect off? If the touch strip only controls one parameter of the effect, then why does turning the touch strip off turn off the entire thing?
such a smart way to chop the drums!
Can you record the automation to scenes? (not arranger)
2 years I’ve had it and I think i understand 10% of what it can do. And I’ve been producing for 24 years.
Thank you so much 🙏
I just came across this video now and was wondering if meanwhile something changed re iConnectivity software? I was looking after a VJing setup, where one MAC is used as the audio system (Ableton Live) and a 2nd MAC for visuals only (Resolume Arena). The audio computer sends a stereo track to the VJ-computer for audio reactive stuff and another single track with a timecode (LTC) to synchronise both systems. For me that works perfectly using the iConfig software. As I didn't found any hint on the iConnectivity web page, that the iConfig software is deprecated, I wanted to ask if someone has any news on that? Cheers Mark
Excellent. I l8ke how you handled the vocal chops.
This is maybe a very stupid question, but where can I find the app for my brand new SP-404 MKII? i have installed the librarian/edito but it's no where to find, I have connected it to my PC, I am confused...Please help me...
Muito bom obrigado
That is nice 😊
Thank you !!
Very useful, thanks!
This is so clever, thanks for sharing ❤
Sounds great! I want to do this also, but I'm not able to connect my aira's to the akai force. I'm only able to light up a pad om my j6, but no sound comes out. Do you have or know a video that explains to a beginner how to connect your t8, j6 and s1 to an akai force. Yours, Alex
This is awesome and a good video for presenting the idea. I do miss the "every 4th time" or "1:4", "2:4" etc from the Elektron boxes. If I want a situation where "on the first play this note should not be played, but on the second play it should", then I'm probably better of just duplicating the clip and changing that one note.
One Of the Best tips!!! Thanks
Thanks
This is a really well put together tutorial mate. Youve a gift!
Ok but your use of the term parallel processing is wrong and therefore confusing to people who don't know - parallel processing is NOT the same as bus processing aka submixes. In a bus, like in your drawing, the outputs simply get routed THROUGH the bus to the main outs. But for parallel processing, the outputs get SPLIT, with one side of the split going to a bus, the other side going to the main outs. Parallel processing allows you to then blend the processed signal with the dry signal, which is not possible with bus processing. In bus processing, you only get the processed signal. AFAIK, the only way to do parallel processing on the Force would be to create a submix for any channel you want to stay dry, then use the send/returns to create the processed signal.
I’ve recently noticed when I plug my USB keyboard before starting my AKAI Force, it’s not recognized by the OS. To resolve the issue, I disconnect it, wait a few seconds, and reconnect it.
I don't have a force but this is still really useful. Thank you for sharing it. Also, I am intrigued by the force now. It almost looks purpose built for live performance. Is it easy to modulate sounds on the fly with the force? Thanks again.
Wizard 🔥🔥🔥
Can I run a USB to an iPad to run guitar effects apps, then run a separate USB to an iPhone to stream to social media sites? Also, the same iPad would send midi commands to other gear on a pedalboard at my feet through the same USB cable. Would I just use a midi cable from the iConnectivity Audio4c to my guitar pedals that would receive midi commands via USB from the iPad? Would all this work? Thank you!
So out of all the standalones on your channel you rate the Force as nr1? .. Im leaning towards a 707 myself as it has an incredible pallet to work with and is the closest thing to a modular sampling system on the market (independent playback seq lines, realtime timestretch, cross mod on layers (8tracks is plenty via resamplin) quality synth & FX. We would appreciate your thoughts as On paper the 707 seams to blow everything else out of the water
My Force wishlist: - Akai hiring an actual music creator so he can tell Akai how much basic stuff Force is missing and what things were implemented so poorly that are essentially useless (Arrage mode probably comes first to mind). User interface is stuck in '90s, people end up editing MIDI events by hand. What the heck. BTW, I tried to edit a saved MIDI controls template by hand and found out how badly they designed they data structures in there. The UI probably follows the bad internal architecture.
Great video! I've been trying to find a way to launch patterns with an external controler on Maschine+ and never found it ! Is it easy to Map the launchpad on Maschine+ ? Any tips or video would be Great !!
ALV! Hoy me llegó el FORCE que compré, acabo de ver todo este video y siento que aprendí lo necesario para empezar a sacarle jugo. Saludos desde Cholula, México.
Thanks!
that’s a great idea! thanks a lot for this :)
It doesn’t matter what the MPC community feels about the newer MPCs if they were commercially successful. Since both the Force and MPC are based on the same underlying hardware, they both are in need of new faster hardware and more RAM. With new hardware, more things are possible.
Well done 👍
can you explain how you hooked both of them together in all cables and connections? also, how would u hook a DAW to them as well?
is there a way to set teh values of teh steps with the knobs ? I found it quite hard to get PAN exactly to 0 (half bar) Is there also a way to show where are notes? eg when you have a note sequence and want to automate the panorama of one note.
Can this be done with patterns or only scenes? Thank you!
yes! thank you!
