This is THE BEST caulking video I’ve watched all day & I’ve watched quite a few to figure out WTheck I’m doing wrong & you are the one who covered it! Thank you!!🙏
A great instructional video on a caulking gun for guys like me. it may seem like a no-brainer for most, but for first time users like me, I found the little things to make my life easier with this tool! The tip about the tip-cutter hole is the first time I heard about it after watching several similar vids! I also appreciate you showing the types of caulking guns and their differences. Thanks!!
I appreciate the thoroughness of your explanations. This really is the best video, so far, because you don't assume people already know everything, and you explain important details a beginner NEEDS to know.
Put a nail or screw in the end to seal the caulk and use again later so it doesn’t dry out. Also, there’s tools you can use to make a great line other than your finger like a Cramer Profiling kit. Great video! Thanks!!
This was so helpful. It's not as difficult as I thought it would be. My husband passed away a year ago so I am having to learn to deal with things around the house that he would have done. Thank you so much!
Best video on the subject and I’ve been trying an hour. You’re the only one that I saw fully explain that once you put in the tube you have to turn the metal thing 180 degrees and then trigger. Thanks and great video!
I've been learning a lot about how to caulk, but not how to use the gun. Funny eh? I just finished caulking 3/4s of a circular bathtub. Masked the floor and around the tub. Used the 5 size edging tool AND... it turned out beautiful. Clear caulk helps!!! The hard part comes tomorrow when I need to jimmy up a 14 inch extension to get between the shower stall and the bathtub. I'm going to use Fish Tank tubing on the end of the Caulk Tube and tape a skinny wooden Dowel on to give it some stability. Any other suggestions would greatly be appreciated. LOL Can't tape that area. Less than 2" clearance. Dang! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. It will be my first time using a Caulking gun and was a little nervous. But not anymore. Your video was so helpful for me. Again thank you
THANK YOU! After looking at four different videos, you are the only one that told me to flip the rod 180°, which is the information I needed to know. Thank you so much!
I saw a video which suggested you take painters tape (the blue kind), and tape it above the area that you're caulking. That way you'll have a nice even, smooth caulk line after you're finished and pull the tape off!
Thank you thank you thank you! I have the older style gun that I just purchased from Home Depot, and that thing was giving me the blues trying to figure out how to get the caulk to flow. There were no instructions informing you to turn that plunger to engage the ratcheting, but you just did!
Thank you sir! I have three caulking guns, one is rusted and not budging, the other is missing the plate, and the third one I just could not get it to engage once the tube was in. Your explanation of the ratcheting gun was just what I needed! (now if I can get it to dispense evenly rather than the big mess I made, or it doesn't dispense at all ha ha. One step at a time I guess). I like how clear you are, and you don't go too fast, which is so helpful.
Thank you for detail info. I never used this tool before which I am going to use today. I bought new house after a year, i see many places that needs reclacuking. You made ny day, god bless you
Thank you so much. I had no idea how to do this to fix my shower. Your detailed explanation of how to do this. And really appreciate your comments about the supply issues. 😊
Thank you so much for showing all of the different models! Mine is like your green one and I could not work out how to move the plunger. Turns out it was a bit old and jammed up. It just needed some WD40 to loosen it up. I've now successfully fixed some holes in my gutters. Thanks again. 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come out because I didn't know anything about the puncture tool, single woman, 1st time homeowner, learning everything from UA-cam.
Thank you - I couldn’t get the old caulk tube out. You showed the lock release button plate and plunger pulled right back. I was squeezing both handles and release plate, and pulling plunger.
Hey, I didn’t think I would actually need to see this video, but boy was I wrong. I learned a lot. One question, what’s the best solvent to use to remove dried caulk from the exterior of a caulking gun? Thank you.
I have been a professional caulker for over 45 years. You did a very good job explaining the very basics that many overlook. My only suggestion is although there is a nozzle cutter on a lot of guns you should not use it. They tend to crush the nozzle adding to the challenge of shooting a nice bead. Use a sharp utility knife cutting into a piece of wood( for safety) I had a few issues with your discussion of sealants but that was not the focus of the video.👍 It is very easy to overlook the benefits of a video like this. Keep them up
If you are really having trouble with this they have caulking guns with different thrust ratios. Basically the shorter the distance the plunger moves with every squeeze the easier it will be to squeeze. You probably won’t find the thrust in No in a home center but you can usually find it online then just match manufacturers and part numbers

Hey, I didn’t think I would actually need to see this video, but boy was I wrong. I learned a lot. One question, what’s the best solvent to use to remove dried caulk from the exterior of a caulking gun? Thank you.
The more affordable options after scraping off the big chunks with a knife is vinegar, W-D 40, and isopropyl alcohol.
@@Caliber8Tools Thank You!
Thank you so much!!! I appreciate your video, 1st time caulking
Glad I helped.
Great video, I’ve also gotten white stuff on my shirt when playing with my caulk gun!

After you put the caulking gun into the crack cement on the patio floor, do you smooth it out or just let it sit and smooth after
Smooth it out before it dries.

thanks bro... big Hello from India..
You’re welcome.

You’re welcome. Glad it helped.
Excellent video thank you so much
Glad it helped, thank you.
My caulk gun handle is facing down , it looks exactly like the red one. How do I get the sliver part to face up?
The handle and trigger is supposed to face down. The end of the silver rod that pushes the caulk out of the tube can twist in any direction.
After you put caulking on crack, cement floors, do you smooth it out after dries
Smooth it out before it dries.
Excellent video!
Glad it helped.
great video very informative. i learned alot

So many tutorial but caulking gun still hard to press when use with silicon sealer 😂

@@_azamuddin is there a way to make it easier? I can't push anything out at all.
Why does my caulk canister seem like it's to small for my caulk gun and the plunger circle?
It may be too small. Make sure your caulking gun is the right size.
Great Video 😊

Pull the rod all the way back, then take out the tube.

@@Caliber8Tools oh one more question? I can’t get anything to come out even after using the pin. 😩
