Good morning from Ohio USA! If you would like to learn the science behind and use of wood gassifiers, check out Heath Putnam you tube site. That size stove, when packed properly, should burn for at least an hour without having to refuel it. After the flame goes out a secondary, flameless, gassification happens with the coals and allows you to continue to cook longer. I have the tomshoo as well as one that I have built myself. The key is to pack the wood vertically and tightly just below the vent holes where the gassification happens. Hardwoods burn longer. You can also use wood pellets which work great. You are not the first to struggle with a gassifier stove. I have directed numerous people to Heaths site. I would encourage you to research it and try it again. I reall love these stoves! Let me know how it goes if you try it again! Have a blessed one!
For best results load the stove with vertical thumb sized sticks or a little larger the same height just below the secondary holes inside the stove don't block those holes they provide the gasification.
Cracking Mr RTR, your cooking puts my porridge to shame 🤣 the best thing with most of the small stoves is they cool down real quick. i do love a Teriyaki 👍
You love it don't ya . Always out roving about.👌🏽 Not had my gasifier stove out for a while.. going to this week tho.. The trick is tiny twigs and loads of em ,nice pile already before you start. And keep feeding the bastard. Wood pellets are good too. Over half hour burn and little to no smoke. 👍🏽
Do love a rove. I’ve got a nice pile of finger size wood I picked up from the magic roundabout when I did the trangia gasifier stove vid. Might try it again with them cut to size.
Hi Rob, looks like you need an old car Ariel or old selfie stick to use as a blowpipe, find with the small wood stoves it helps keep em going. All best Will
Very Posh red berry tea, great video Ron the teriyaki chicken looked fantastic👍 we have exactly the same frying pan 🤗you could do with a flame blower/ car aerial thing to reignite your fire. I think there’s a song in there somewhere😂
I’m enjoying the herbal teas instead of coffee. I’d lost that frying pan for a while and had to use the pan with the swing handle. I noticed in your vids we had the same one. You’re thinking of Take That and Lulu I think.
I find my wood gas stove works best using wooden cat litter pellets, gasifies in no time, and boils a kettle in what seems like seconds! If I burn that shop bought kindling in it, I find that cutting them in half works best
@@robtherover can only speak from my own experience, load up pellets, light a fire lighter on the top. Once they catch they go well. But as you said in this video, they don't last too long either!
The fire in the gasifier was out by the time I dished it up and started eating it. Good idea though Kenneth. I might start doing it with my other stoves.

Cheers T_P. I love those porridge pots. I have one a 10.30 every weekday morning at work. And your homemade porridge and figs look the business.
Great video Rob, looked tasty that
Cheers mate. It was nice. Apart from the chicken bone.

Cheers Will. Yeah it is annoying having to keep an eye on it constantly.

Thanks for the reply Rob👍 loving your latest videos more and more mate, you seem to be on a role😁 keep up the good work 👍
@@aabbushcraft thank you Andy. That means a lot to me mate. All the best.
Rob , Wood pellets burn very well in those stove. Like you I prefer the cheap Chinese knock off
Cheers John. I tried wood pellets once before I started filming my adventures and they smouldered more than burnt. Could be worth another go.

Last time I used wood pellets in it they just smouldered. I was probably doing it wrong.

nice vid rob up to your usual excellent standard... will stick with my trangia that looks too much of a faff for me..
Thanks Paul. It is a bit of a faff. You can’t go wrong with a trangia.
Before you put the fire out I would have used the water to boil in the frying pan to clean it while you ate the meal. Have fun stay safe.

Subscribed my friend 🤗
Thanks m8 for awesome positive video 😊. You remind me of the great Megawoodswalker Kevin 😊. Sadly he died at a age 50. To Young to Die 😓😥😢
Thank you very much. I try to put across a positive outlook when I’m out and about.
Did you not get the grill that sits on top?
Yes the grill came with it. But I thought I’d use the trivets. Even if they are a pain to get off when in use.
Great stuff Rob,try Aldis 2 rump steaks 4.99 bargain
Good idea mate. Aldi and Lidl do some great interesting food. I must pop along there.
Hi rob
Those burners perform better with hard wood
Grub looked yummy 😋
Yes I think you’re right Patrick. I think the right size wood would help too, to pack it tighter.
Must be damp wood
Try wood pellets
Tried them once. They smouldered rather than burned.
That's u not doing it right
I use pelletts all the time
@@davidlaw233 obviously.
Every one's a critic 😅
Hi Rob, yes stick with the XL and the cheep Chinese. You could call your Deer Roberta
Thanks Christopher. I do very much prefer them.
Buy a bigger frying pan
I’m afraid I can’t do that Dave.
Do u know what you doing 😅
Ha ha I’m not sure sometimes.
Great video Rob, looked tasty that
Probably was. I can’t remember.
