The look is certainly an acquired taste, but you can't deny the tone! Pleasantly surprised with this one

day 30 of asking trogly to pin me
I don't see anything wrong with the way it looks..
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hey @trogly …from what I saw in your video the electronics looks like they may have possibly swapped out from the Crossroads model. The little sisters have a distinctive tone capacitor with the bng logo on the private build models that is not replicated on the Chinese. Maybe it’s there, but I saw crazy slop in your example that does not exist in my 2019 private build little sister or anywhere on the private build models. Look closer.
Message me if you want pics, but you can also see on their website.
After seeing the amateur mistake they made setting the tailpiece I no longer have any desire to own one of these
Thats the kind of stuff you see on Guitar Fetish guitars 😂
@@Tonyolivere somebody hacked that one from what I can tell. Put a real one in yer hands before any valid criticism I say. YMMV. Peace.
Wow does that sound good. Those pickups are impressive. I'd love to see more videos that venture outside the Fender/Gibson realm when the opportunities arise. It's interesting to see a model from a brand I know nothing about gone over with detail like this.
Trogly, I appreciate you being a Gibson expert and you having that focus. Even so, it’s more interesting for me as a viewer when you demo and review something other than a Les Paul. I get that you’re into the nuances of Gibson finishes, period pickups, special runs, characteristic from various eras. But for some of us, another Les Paul is just another Les Paul in a flood of Les Paul’s on this channel. Thanks for coming up for air once in a while.
The strings are not wound correctly on the headstock, the strings are rubbing against the "spoon". The low E and high E need to go towards the center, and D and G need to go to the outside. Normally I see this done wrong on unfinished / slightly finished guitars, on a gloss black it breaks my heart
Agreed in other words its strung backwards. Not so much stress on string range after nut.
had one of the first non cutaway crossroads little sister which i could afford and loved to look of. but ended up upgrading to a private build one with beautiful cedar of lebanon top and a fantastic playable no finish mahogany neck. sounds gorgeous and plays so easy. my go to guitar.
Another guitar you should check out some time, Austin, are the German-designed, Czech Republic-built Maybachs. My lad, Owen Barry has a stunning Maybach Convair with an incredible distressed Goldtop-style metallic tangerine finish. It’s like a slightly-stretched Les Paul with a similar slotted headstock . He’s just finished three months on the road with it with The Chicks and l finally got to play it when l visited him in Nashville in November. It’s a staggeringly good guitar, in terms of playability, sounds and appearance. A must-play for any serious Les Paul lover. :)
Totally agree, those pickups might be the best I’ve ever heard.
The marks in the pick guard are from a roll press machine when they were sizing the material.
I bought a Private Build Little Sister single cutaway with P90's and a B&G Caletta acoustic in 2019. The P90's are in a class of their own. They're both phenomenal instruments and come with really solid cases. Ended up also buying their Prototype amp the following year. Unique products.
i want the prototype amp bad. its my next purchase once i pay off my loan for my private build
I have one of these except with P-90’s and sunburst finish.
So glad you got one of these in the shop. I love my B&G Little Sister. Their soft case is nice too. One of my favorite lockdown purchases. Don't shy away from the cheaper model, it's fantastic.
Merry X-Mas, Happy Chanuka & a Rock n Roll
Wow, I'm super impressed by those pickups. Not many neck pups sound that clear and crunchy with that kinda dirt! Fantastic!
Agreed pickups are worth looking into.
Pretty pretty pretty! I hope it sounds rocking 2.
Beautiful looking and sounding guitar, except the headstock geometry should really be redesigned so the strings are not rubbing against the wood behind the nut. I suggest they take a look at Maccaferri guitar headstocks for some ideas on how to get it right.
I remember when they first started making these. Guitar looks cool and sounds fantastic.
I have a Little Sister with Cedar of Lebanon top and P90's. Really fun guitar. One complaint is a few small details that are allowed to pass by QC. Similar to the glue dripping down the inside of the guitar and the funky installation of the tail piece. For $3,000 plus, this shouldn't be allowed. Mine came with fret sprout and tuners that were very difficult to turn. I had to buy the custom tuners for $200 to replace the stock units plus $200 for a fret job. Seems like better attention to detail would be appropriate. But I really like my guitar.
You HAVE to show us more of these
In gold top Les Pauls from the late 50s collectors will flash lights onto the top in a dark room and if it reflects wavy onto a surface or the ceiling it’s a flame top
Reminds me of a Duesenberg (all the hand made metal parts) or a vintage Gretsch, until you get to that headstock, then it’s pretty unique.
A big fan from Israel! Awesome guitar, you should check out Macmull custom guitars also from Israel 🤘
I don't remember how long ago it was, but I believe you did an episode that talked about a Little Sister. Maybe it was a WYRON, or saw one in a eBay, or Goodwill search? I don't remember. I don't watch many yt guitar channels anymore but I consistently watch you. So the reason you remember Little Sister is because you have discussed it before. I just wish I remembered which episode for you!
Clean ass solder at the pup covers.
I like the Step Sister model it's a little bit more affordable
👍😉
Waw! I would love to play that neck pick up with the tone on 4 on a Twin Reverb or something... A good reverb, tiny bit of modulated delay, stereo rig in fact, so 2 Twins and stereo pedals.
Neck rests in cases can warp a neck
Pay attention to how it compresses ? The neck
I had a V that was pitched sharp whenever I took it out of the case
Yep , the lid was bending the neck back when stored
So I modified the case
My Crossroad is impressive with upgraded brass bridge. Bridge HB pup is scary good.
I own one of these, but in a burst form using the natural wood. It’s a fantastic guitar. It’s comfortable, tones are great and I thoroughly enjoy playing it.
Evening all!! Stay warm.
Guess you can't expect tuning stability on this guitar with those tuners...
The "Two knobs & F hole face" looks a bit like HR Pufinstuf.
I think the guitar is actually very beautiful and those pickups have very distinct voicings.
I do remember the original promotional videos for the Little Sister some years back and I was enamored. But the price was prohibitive. I was also especially interested in the spruce top ones. It is not only the electronics, but also the acoustic properties that make these unique in their sound quality.
check out the crossroad series if cost is an issue. its their chinese based production. still fantastic and you get the sound of the private builds
I notice you never talk about the feel of the action on the finger boards of your demos? Sustain, the feel of the fretting at high and low register. Those are important things to know when doing a demo, and would be nice to know.
Those B&G guitars are excellent playing quality built guitars. Those 3 guys are highly skilled, except at soldering as you so eloquently stated. LOL.
Yes.
Nice review. While you are doing neck measurements would you consider adding a spec table chart for a few seconds on your reviews, my recommendation would be to include all the spec stuff you already measure but add the following :
Nut width ( I think you do that)
String spacing at nut and bridge. ( outer edges E to E )
High/Low E string inset at nut ( ie how close to fretboard edge are these strings eg. 2.8/2.7mm)
Action at 12th fret high/low E once adjusted for no buzz
Fretboard camber
Fret height and width.
All this date just needs to be displayed for a few seconds even at the end so a screenshot can be taken, it’s really valuable info esp string spacing and string inset at nut.
And please use metric as well as imperial units ..3/64ths means not a lot to a lot of people.. 1.19mm is easier to understand for many folk.
Keep up the good work… excellent stuff.
I just learned about this guitar company *yesterday* . I'm intrigued.
3:38 - That's how Ted Nugent does it with his byrdland when he plays the upper frets. Speaking of which, he'd appreciate this electric single cutaway hollow body.
... and this is the difference.. The way this guitar sounds is AMAZING.. A LOT of tone.. and versitile too.. If you can afford it.. at least you get what you pay for..
I have 5 guitars. Two (S. Korean) $500 guitars (that sound and play just fine). Also a Custom Shop Schecter, and a Les Paul.. (and a Yari, for my acoustic). Yeah, those have tone like what is heard here.. This is nice..👍😏
Very interesting build. The only thing I don't like is the classical style headstock, but that is because I'm a big fan of locking tuners. So that is a personal thing. Otherwise it looks and sounds great
I believe Sparzel has a locking tuner design that is made for classical guitar headstocks.
It's called the Nylock if I remember correctly :)
They also have a guitar called the Step Sister that’s very similar but with a traditional headstock and the neck meets the body a few frets lower.
@@mikeomatic9905 and has more frets. 22 compared to just 20
Pickups sound really good!
Pretty cool and unique looking guitar, the black finish with the brass hardware looks good
That neck p/u sound is unreal.
When, you kicked it in sounded, badass.
Sounds great, holds good tune
Wow! Those pickups sound amazing.
I have two early Little Sisters… one with p90’s the other with the humbuckers. They are new old stock…. Maybe you would be interested in doing a review on them? They are up for grabs.
I've heard of these guitar's. First time seeing.🤟thanks..merry Christmas 🎄
Beautiful, and sounds great.
L’Chayim, Trogs!!
Note the string angles to the tuners...not good as they are almost obliged to touch the wood at the tuner slots...could be considered a design flaw...
Little sister.... remides me of those acoustics they had on Andertons one time. Can remember if they were b and g but I'm pretty sure they did have a few of these on there youtube channel before.
It's nice! If you bought it and had to resell it for that money it would be difficult though. What Gibson uses Brazilian rosewood?
I wonder how the tuning stability is with the classic head..... Hummm
Sounds and looks great!❤
Have you considered doing a review on a HERITAGE guitar? I would love to hear your thoughts on a Heritage Standard vs Gibson Standard.
I still want to try a Duesenberg guitar from Germany, but I probably never will get a chance to try one.
Since I saw B&G guitars in a guitar magazine some years ago, I've wanted one. They are fantastic, but I'd want one in tobacco sunburst. They would be perfect for me, as I have a bad back.
Sounds scrumptious, and that look is very distinctive indeed!
So happy you documented this, huge fan of the channel from Israel!
I tried out the import version a few years ago and it was seriously good, but I imagine the one built by my fellow Israelis is even better :)
BTW I share the last name with Yotam, what a coinsidence hahaha
B&G are amazing guitars. I've been following them for years. I'm happy you got to play one.
Outstanding demo 🔥🔥🔥🤘
That thing is a lively sucker. Love it.
Darrell Braun demoed one a few years ago. First guitar I wanted as soon as I saw it
Thanks trogly for the early Christmas gift playing some Queens of the Stone Age. Just needs some more cowbell
Is it ok for the E strings to be binding on the head stock?
It is not. It should be strung with the "E" strings winding towards the outside edge of the headstock.
More than likely just an oversight by Trogly since he doesn't handle a lot of slotted headstock designs.
The B&G guitars are well designed and built, IMHO, even costing $5500 used it is a lot of guitar for the money.
@@hkguitar1984 Good call. I looked again very closely. The low E is wrapped towards the center. Which is where I think it all to be in order to pull the string away from the slot. However, that gives it more of an angle. It doesn’t look like it would make all that much of a difference to wind the other way. I mean a few degrees. On the high E string, it is wrapped towards the outside. And then actually seems to make it worse. Because it’s a thinner string, it might not literally be binding on the slot there.
Of course… This all might be academic. I mean there’s no vibrato unit on this, so it might not be that much of an issue. But I don’t know. Maybe just put a string tree on it. 😳🫣😛
@@hkguitar1984 once again… You might be entirely correct. I looked at the “after “ video… we are troubling, might’ve done the stringing himself. I’m not sure if it’s clear in the video before that which way the strings are wound on the posts.
@@hkguitar1984 Okay, I looked again… At the beginning of the video both strings are strong towards the outside of the headstock. But it still looks like they’re breaking over the slots. In other words resting on the edges of the slots maybe that’s OK. I’m not sure I wanna have my strings binding against the wood like that. Take a look a 00:39
Once again, and just for fun… At 10:32 you can see some impressions… There’s two marks on the high E side And one mark on the low E side, I have a feeling a properly strung up, they would just cruise by the slot and not actually buying door. Make that impression. If you go back a few seconds before that on the high Eastside, it looks like there’s a weird little cracker finish line on the high E side . You might think it’s a reflection, but it’s kind of scraggly.
I bought one during the pandemic. I absolutely love the guitar.
Happy Hanukkah to my Hebrew Luthier brothers!
i solder everyday for a living that solder job is gorgeous its just got a cow paddy on the one, its till gorgeous and shiny though
Beautiful guitar and it sounds great, love to buy one.
So nice to see, they make high quality guitars!!, peace from Israel.
Love your cannel, but crazy on Fender Please please make a Fender channel .
Get your hands on a Macmull, they made guitar crafting a science, each piece they have is uniquly assigned with the other parts, this is by far the closest thing to the early 50s and 60s guitars.
Their pickups are phenomenal.
I don't own one as they are really expensive but they are shocking each musician who picks them up.
The headstock is killing me too.. LOL between the deep cut Long Horn and that headstock I don't know man the trapeze style tailpiece is unnecessary too and is that a mirrored Picard? I don't know let's hope this thing sounds like a beast I'm sure it was expensive
B&G Private Build Hand-Wound Kikbuckers
$395.00
its what they have listed as accessories
I like it. My first guitar had a slotted headstock. I know a lot of people don't like them but I never had any issues with it.
I hate them. What were they thinking???
That's totally Rad! I love it!
Thanks for sharing, Trogg!🤟
I love the B & G head stocks
I can see Henri Cash of Starcrawler playing one of these... It sounds wonderful too!
The strings are not wound correctly at the headstock, at least the E and e. They should not touch the edges of the headstock. Great guitar though!
That headstock is 'chefs kiss'
I like that guitar, but I'd like to hear their bigger version?
Wow! This is cool.
My goodness that guitar is fantastic I honestly love it.
They didn't have that giant corts styled horn it be pretty cool actually. But that deep cut long almost straight horn is killing me.. LOL
A Slotted Headstock Hollowbody
Okay, so has there ever been A Slotted Headstock
Solidbody?
Yeah Gibson made a SG bass with a slotted headstock.
Hmm well its a good example of something nobody anywhere ever needed. Same as this.
@@mpirron1 Tokai made quite a few solid bodies with "classical" headstocks in the 70s-80s
@@hughjarrse well I don't know why they would do that but it makes sense why they don't anymore, slotted head stocks are for nylon string guitars with no truss rods I can't imagine anybody expecting that tuner design to hold up to steel strings, and unless they did something to change the nature of the tuning engines I don't see how they can stay in tune. Maybe that's why these guitars are so expensive maybe they got titanium in the headstock to stop it from collapsing in on itself and some kind of magical locking gears from the Willy Wonka factory.
Surprised it didn't have a bound fretboard for that kind of money.
Agreed, although much of that is due to player preference.
Les Paul the man did not care for the bound fingerboards (the early Les Paul guitars were unbound).
Ultimately, the unbound fingerboard allows the edges to be rolled over which allows for a much better feel when playing.
All of my Fender electric guitars have the fingerboard edges rolled, if you've not tried one you should, they are very comfortable to play.
Beautiful guitar exquisite company
Nice QOTSA jam. Not really keen on the axe though.
I see what you did there--Little Sister by QotSA. Nice
Highest quality THAT THEY CAN SOURCE. That doesn't even guarantee somewhat decent quality, if all they can source is crap. Not saying that is the case here. Just making a point.
Not the biggest fan of the looks either, but that sound! WOW!
Got a “ Private Build “ Lil Sister, beautiful guitars. Quality craftmanship, you get to choose your top from a catalogue. These guitars are “ parlour guitars from the early 1900’s.
Hey Fricker, I know you don't think pickups make any difference but what about these?
Nice Easter egg playing qotsa “little sister” on the b&g “little sister “! I see you trogly!
👍 😉
I like it. I was interested in listening to the tones because it looks to me there may be more space between the pups.
It sounds great.
I actually purchased a copy of this Little Sister guitar with P90's from Firefly. Nice copy.
B & G guitar sounds fantastic
I kinda hate the way the E strings don't have clearance on the headstock and just get kinked on the clearcoat.
these are the best guitars made. you got a rather no frills model which is kinda a let down to you. if you saw the tops they use on some of these its amazing. and i think their p90s are the best sounding of their pickup options. i hope these become a common place guitar in the field. if not the name. then their style and workmanship
Trogs, do a Mod Shop top 10. Your top 10 favorite Mod Shop guitars of the year. Make it 20 if 10 is too hard.
Would love to see an 8Bomb custom on this channel.
