Love crypts! Will have to get the Petchii. It's beautiful! I've been fortunate enough that crypts don't melt much in my tanks when I introduce or transfer them. Thanks for sharing!
Question: @ 2:19, i don't see Cryptocoryne Parva, is it hidden amongst the sagittaria ? Love C. Willisii, but wanted to share with your viewers this plant is also called C. Lucens. Also, for those that want a little color, the "Petchii' comes in a pink variant. If your needing a tall Crypt for the back C. spiralis, {green} and C. Retrospiralis, {bronze or dark avocado} take quite a few years to get to their max size, so i've used them successfully in tiny tanks since they're super easy .❣
I've bought a few baskets of cryptocoryne parva 4 months ago. The emersed forms didn't even melt. Easy, little plant. I'm planning a betta smaragdina tank only with crypts or maybe hygrophila corymbosa compact and phyllantus.
Crypts are my #1 plant, cannot get enough of them! Love all these picks for nano tanks, awesome video. Your aquascape at Aquashella was my favorite, not surprised to find out it was yours. Takashi Amano would be proud!
Love crypts. Sometimes they take a while to adjust and grow, but once they do look out. One of my crypt wendtii now has babies in most of my tanks. Have you tried pink flamingo crypt? Need a good light but they are so pretty.
Crypts are the best plants. They are all you need for a tank. My favorite is mi oya "red" variant(I haven't tried the green). Lovely purple/green rosette that gets bushy in my tanks.
Thing I love about crypts is they don't take up much floor space so my corys still have lots of gravel to explore and provides lots of cover when they want to have a break and chill. I think i had two of the three but I'm always looking to try new types. Thanks for the vid.
Ordered petchii for my 5 gallon after watching this. I've got parva currently growing from tissue culture so it looks like your tiny sample. Its soo cute though, lol. Videos like this help when you can only see pics from online stores. Thanks Joanna!
Not sure why but I think I got a crypt wentii green and put it in a 5 gallon and it grew to the size of half the tanked and turned a brownish red it’s was crazy cuz I bought it thinking it would stay small
I have a 4ft lowboy aquarium filled with a forest of beckettii petchii and wendtii with lagenandra meeboldii red behind them, which depending on how much light they get turns the most splendid reddish-brown
Hello Joanna ☺️ Thank you for this. I really like all 3 of the crypts you highlighted, but have never had the last 2. Might need to add those to a few of my tanks! 🌿🐡
💚💚💙💙 I have a crypt in a couple tanks and I'm not quite sure what it is. I would guess Wendtii (Red?) or Undulata red it was unlabelled when I got it. In one tank with low light the leaves are nearly black with red petioles, and the leaves are mostly green (red - abaxial) in another tank with higher light...?
Great taste as always! 😊 I love my parva but regretfully my willisii melted as expected although never grew back 😢 It was in a quite dark corner of my tank, which is very dim lit as it hosts shy fish such as gouramis (sparkling and honey)... I never tried Petchii before but I love the colours of my Wendtii brown from Tropica so if I can get more of those bronze leaves but in a different shape, I'll put it now on my shopping list thanks to you 😊
🌟 Ohhh these are nice! 🌱I’m glad you referenced the similar lucens because it helped me ID my crypt! (I also have lutea). Love all 3 of your suggestions!
Jason, how about a video on the origins and history of the scientific names of fish. Some of the species names of common fish seem unpronounceable. Are they all Latin? Anyway I think everyone would enjoy and learn from some background and explanation of common fish names. As an example, scallare, where did that come from! Just an idea I thought would be interesting. Thank you sir, great stream as always.
Hi! Depends on your store and the day but…my favorites are Petco tissue cu lture cup: Anubias round leaf (or gold coin) and Petsmart tube plant African Water fern (bolbitis)
The biggest drawback to crypts is the fact that they melt especially the bigger species of crypts My green crypts are the only ones I haven’t had to worry about melting when I move them I’ve been keeping green and bronze crypts for almost 10 years and I barely touch my bronze crypts except to get algae off the leaves because I don’t want them melting
Never tried crypts. I'm an anubias nut. Would really like to find something grasslike for my 5.5 gal that doesn't carpet and stays 5" or less. But I may just have to try 1 or 2 of those crypts. Thanks! 🪴😀
The Petchii is also my favourite. It's a fast grower and doesn't melt as much Not keen on Parva as its takes ages to grow. Try Wendtii Rubella. It's the same size as Petchii

I need to get the Petchii too, great job on capturing those colors on camera!

Nice introduction to these little plants
Just got an order a couple of crypts a couple weeks ago from Flip Aquatics. Great quality! Thanks Joanna!

This is perfect timing, I'm planning a rescape of my 60cm tank just now! Thanks Joanna 😊
☺️ wishing you lots of fun!
I’m really liking mixing in some crypt afinis red with the willisii.
Ooh that would be cool!
Cryptocoryne tonkinensis is the most beautiful. Maybe not for nano aquariums but it is a real beauty.
I love Crypt Parva in several of my tanks! I’ll have to try the other types too!👍
I love crypts
Not sure why but I think I got a crypt wentii green and put it in a 5 gallon and it grew to the size of half the tanked and turned a brownish red it’s was crazy cuz I bought it thinking it would stay small
Sounds like you got crypt wendtii bronze. Mine has grown like gangbusters compared to the wendtii green
Crypts are so amazing. I love tropica the best so far, but I love all that I have tried including parva and wedtii.
Been adding plants to my fairly new tank and these look great. Nice video. New sub.
Picked up some really nice red crypt when daddy at the swap in Schenectady I planted them waiting for him to go through their mountain come back
Love crypts
You got me hooked on the parva!!!
Yay! You’re welcome - haha!
Could I put crypt parva in my 1 gallon? Will it carpet in the front even though it's a low light tank?
Only crypt I've tried so far is Parva. Have it in a 32 gal tank and it is doing great
Great suggestions, Joanna! I’ve written them down for future reference. In my notebook because I loose sticky notes.😄
Excellent! Yes, post its can be fickle. ☺️

I agree best plants! 😁
Gotta get me some of the Petchii!
Woohoo! ☺️
I love them all!!!
Shocking. 😂🙌👈
I'm going to have to try those. I'm trying to decide what I really want for my next tank. ~Gina

My favorite species of crypt is the pink flamingo which I haven’t got yet🌱💙🔥

Some of my favorites also 👍👍👍

Any petco/petsmart recommendations? I know u mentioned one but what about a back up incase there out of stock. Or can I find all of these there?

Crypt beckettii loves my forever lasting ECO Complete.
😊
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am not so jealous of the variety of plants that I you can access here in Tasmania the selection is seriously small
That’s too bad that you don’t get the selection. Perhaps someday you will. ☺️
Same in remote South Australia 😒
Good Morning.
I meant so jealous lool
Haha! Lol! ☺️
Its pronounced wills-e-e (both I's are spoken like an e). It is the genitiv of the name willsi in latin
Really?!? Thanks for sharing!!
