My static was made with random people with no experience in savage content playing only at Saturday and Sunday, we are together since Alex12 tier, we got every clear in this game together, static is more than clears or high DPS, static is about friendship and union, DPS and optimization come with the time, people get better every run. Static is a game changer, if you don't have one, find a static now!!!!
I am very envious of you. I wish I had a static of close friends that would last for years, too. I've made several friends through statics and raiding, but the statics never lasted longer than a tier due to other people's life changes or health changes. The friendships are still going and strong, but I really crave for a long term static who are also very close and dear friends.
@@sniderealism2410 you must know what you want, a Static with a full time optimization and high DPS will break at anytime specially if you don't have consistency or a group with ppl that will grown together and get better together built on friendship, we don't have full time optimization (we try) but we are together since Alexander, of course there was some changes, but ppl still with us!
Another thing I would add is making sure everyone in the static is on the same page. If you're casual, make sure all of your members are casual. And do not bring friends into the static.
I got REALLY lucky with my static. It's a combination of long-time friends, in-game friends and even ppl picked up from ffxivrecruitment. We all have fun and grow as players, there's plenty of memes and in-jokes, and yet we work together to come up with our own strategies and solutions to mechanics. When we clear a fight (or even just finally conquer light rampant) we're all collectively happy. We share the ups and downs together and come out not regretting the time we've spent together. I think the secret to this is making your intentions known. I and our other static leader made it clear from the get-go that we wanted an experience that was fun and that our emphasis was on enjoying clearing content with people, with a secondary priority on learning and growing as players. Having everyone on the same page and together for the same reasons, even before you set foot in a raid is so important. Too often are people's expectations not met because they weren't clear on the intentions of the group. If you plan on recruiting for a static, try and set up expectations ahead of time so that you attract people with those same expectations. Less arguing tends to happen when everyone wants the same things out of the experience.
I'm still learning these lessons myself. This tier I began in a casual static after quitting from burnout in SB, then playing catch up in a midcore static, but still finding myself outpacing the members of the group despite enjoying my time with them. Eventually I had to leave because the clear prospects were simply too low. I've recently been scouted for a hardcore static with reputable members who are desperate for a competent fill. This is a new level of play for me and it's begun to instill a new type of mindset in me. I don't think they're the group I want to spend 2 years with (as you said, toxic behavior gets overlooked in the name of skill and personal utility), but I think this will help me understand more of what I want out of a static in the long run and hopefully help me improve as a player in the long run.
This video was really interesting for me personally. I'm relatively new to the game, but still want to do some "High-End-Content" and doing progress with a fix group, but was not able to find a group for myself. Thank you for sharing your experience and tips for that :3 I really do appreciate that! ♥
It's good to hear this from a hardcore player. As a hardcore player this is music to my ears. I agree with the hardcore mentality you have but also hate the toxicity of hardcore groups.
This video is a year old but Lynx just has such excellent mature advice about tanking and playing FF and i want to show my appreciation for his attitude and knowledge to help enjoy the game. It has helped me a lot as I main tank and am a WoW refugee who jas experience it all in tanking. But im keen to absorb the culture and content that this gsme offers, with bods like Lynx making it that much easier. ✌peace!
Good stuff! I've been pretty apprehensive bc I had in-game friends that were very elitist and made me feel like anything I thought was "cool" was not in "the meta." TBH it was pretty annoying to be around and was super discouraging. Still don't have a raid group, but after watching this I can attest that a good group chemistry/having fun/ caring about prog. seem like the most important components to keeping most groups together.
It's a little unrelated, but the advice here actually works for finding a TTRPG group too - very casual table everyone plays as players and hanging out doing whatever along the plot - cares about characters and the system and talks to each other about the game outside of sessions - focuses on the characters or the system (or both! not mutually exclusive!) and the natural progression of interaction, with a player preference toward an emphasis on the characters and their growth rather than who can show off the highest meme.
Reminds me of my current DnD group. Well sit and bs for an hour, play hard and try to make it the next week. I'll tell you what though. It's some of the most fun I've had in my life.
I literally watched a static essentially be destroyed from not being on the same page about goals for the group. The group eventually couldn't take that some players just never improved or tried to improve and went to make another group. It devestated the other half because they felt like they were being left behind. Everyone originally wanted to be in a group together to just have fun and experience content, but as some got better, they wanted more and became sort of resentful that they were still on E8s post add prog due to clear issues of dps, inability to adapt and do mechanics correctly. This was a group that's been together I think since stormblood. It's always good to reevaluate your personal goals/schedule even if youve been a static for a long time. People's lives aren't static (pun intended) and change.
Thank you for this video, it's exactly what I've been interested in. I got into the game recently with the goal to clear the big fights but the idea of finding a static without having any experience really confuses me.
Was very involved in End game of other games but only started XIV 5months ago and just now looking at getting into savage content here. This video was very helpful and greatly appreciated.
i'd argue this part is harder than the fights themselves. Finding the right group. A group can ruin raiding for you or make it a great experience. I have only raided on the first tier this expansion, and while i'm told i'm a quick learner, i have not managed to find a static that i can stick with. My first one fell apart suddenly, and i had to quit another one i joined back in february for the purpose of clearing this tier due to personal issues. Now i'm in a much better place... But i can't find any groups that fit with me. most people have already cleared the tier multiple times by this point, and most of the offers i see for statics on the recruitment discord server i'm in are for ultimate raids, reclears, or for statics that speak a language I do not.
Before making my static I wish I had watched this video lol. I had a hard time finding a group this tier (I was a PS4 player with no logs), so I had made my own. I had made a casual static initially and it was a disaster, but stuck with it because I had a handful of good players that helped me improve quite a bit and would upload logs for me. Although we got through the tier very slowly and painfully at first, once I got rolling of how I wanted my static to be and after talking with the main people of my group, I'm proud to say we moved up to a more MC mindset and will possibly clear Shiva next week! But starting a static is a super painful process...
I've been in a couple of statics in SB and decided to set one up in ShB because the ones before didn't really work out for different reasons. Mainly due to differing player abilities, some people being divas and also the server split. My casual static raids 3-4 nights a week for 1-2 hours per evening and we have no drama and a lot of fun which are the main things I was aiming for to be honest. It's been an honour to take friends through this content and enjoy it with them. I was also debating if to start an ultimate static as well but I have a feeling that would be above my skill level plus I also run an FC so with that, my savage static and work I probably wouldn't have that much time to relax. We cleared Eden's Gate the week before the weekly loot lockout ended and cleared Eden's Verse 9 weeks ago, had more changes to the group in Eden's Gate than Verse but still made good prog.
Well it's mostly because I tell them I can't join as a permanent member because I already have a static xD I like running in 2 groups every so often so people often say they want a more permanent member
Regarding the *don't job flex* point, I think you defined it too broadly. Definitely don't be bullied into playing a job you don't want to play. But great people can be more conducive to enjoyment. I picked up caster to fit my current group and it was absolutely the right choice. The type of caster I play within that role is my choice.
Honestly, coming from Wow I never expected the kind of welcome I received. I'm only lvl36ish so I have all of this yet to come, but really enjoy listening about this stuff. the dungeons I've been on have been great, not one has been bad so far, but I know that luck will run out eventually. I even dc'ed one and expected to come back to abuse, but everyone was so nice about it. Rather embarrassingly the first one I went on, I didn't know what the tank stance was or how to have it on/off etc, but the healer was nice and explained about it. It might be that I'm playing it with my gf and we're slowly going through it and not rushing, just enjoying the story etc, but I'm having waaay more fun on FF than I ever did with other online games, like wow etc.
I would imagine finding the "perfect" static would just be getting to know the right people and having those kinds of connections. Much like how you find a job before they would even post on something like the FFXIV recruitment Discord/subreddit.
I got super lucky and found the perfect static with the second one I joined. They're great people, we're all on the same page, and we make consistent progress. One thing I would say about the, "Stick to what you want" bit is that while you shouldn't just be a doormat and let other people decide what you play, don't be afraid to branch out and try something new. I joined my current static as a Ninja, but when we got to E8S we realized we didn't have a physical ranged DPS (we were Samurai, Ninja, Black Mage, Red Mage). I volunteered to change to Dancer since I already had all of the i500 Accessories. After playing it for a while, I love Dancer. It's not a job I would have chosen to main or join a static as before, but I'll gladly play it now.
I had a static like yours when I played Blade and Soul, I had been put in a secondary raid in our clan at the time and wasn't satisfied with the players since I wanted to be able to clear week 1. So i used my connections to find about 16 people (mostly friends) to flex the 12m raid. We were obsessed with clearing quickly but we weren't toxic to each other. We raided everyday of the week replacing members as we progressed. We ended up clearing week 2 and before my clan's main team. Ended up making 2 raids to help other friends who weren't as serious about progressing. It was all good vibes and a big reason why I can honestly never break away from mmorpgs lol.
Thanks for this. I've inquired previously, and it was at least two years ago, on forums and even via the party finder. I am a tank main and I feel confident in my play. What experience I have in end game has been a combo of broken statics and the PF. Call me a sadist, but I enjoy the PF and some PF clears I've had with PUGs are absolutely my most memorable because the victory dopamine was raw, and personalities just fucking cool. That said, I've experienced the rejection and implosion points also, and sadly, this is the first expansion which I have zero savage clears and one extreme compared to all extremes since Thordan when relevant, all of Alex, and most of Omega. I don't know what's holding me. I've invested multiple views and POV vids for each instance individually only to never join a group. I will admit it is a lack of patience and being of little faith in a PF I used to group up and Discord with to grind out clears. Regardless, your insights are well received. Regards, veteran tank, enlistment date: 01/05/2016.
It's very important for raid leaders to express what their goals are and set realistic expectations for the group. I've seen so many statics fall apart because of the differences in expectations and overall player skill. Sure, it's nice to recruit super skilled/gold parse DPS players to carry the group, but those skilled players will start applying to other statics ASAP if progression is not at their desired pace. In Endwalker, I'm thinking about leading my own static group, so that I can set my OWN goals and expectations.
I was in a static the start of the current tier (e5-8s) and while fun, the drama when certain members would suddenly drop for no reason, the internet issues caused by the covid crisis and everyone's irl issues drove many of its members away which on top of the stress of having to basically relearn 8 a bunch of times with new people made the whole thing collapse. I managed finally to clear with pf groups little over a month ago and every week since but that experience with the static really leads me to consider whether I'll ever get into Ultimates.
Thank you for this advice! After spending months working on learning how to DPS better, I've finally gotten up the nerve to do current extremes post 5.5 with a combination of party finder and FC people. I'm hoping that extreme content will give me practice taking criticism and failure without letting my insecurity get the better of me. Emerald EX in particular just kicks my ass most of the time and is giving me a LOT of practice in this area lol. Give me diamond any day. But this game's fights are designed to be learned through trial and error, so it's a necessary skill for me to develop. I'm hoping to be ready to look for a static by the time Endwalker comes out.
I actually had quite some luck with my first static for half a year. 2 raids weekly, decent progress considering i was new to savage. But then i realized that we definetly dont get stuck on titan savage cause of my skill lvl, but because everyone kinda wasnt caring anymore... Soon after the group wasnt able to get one raid together in 3 months! Aftet that i told them i quit and they, no joke, were mad at me? They promised weekly raids, and maybe 3 weeks per year they dont raid. Mediumcore btw... Not been in a static since, maybe its time i try again. Thx for the vid!
Never been in a static, used PF to clear all fights in Shb. Most players on Day 1 Savage PFs are staticless and would fall under MC level. For the whole year that I've done this, I've made tons of friends and have been invited to many CWLSs and Discord servers, so I actually like to think of PF as my static. It's pretty interesting to see PF evolve on your data center. You recognize names, both good and bad, and if you're good to the community, when you put PFs up, they fill quickly. Finding subs is easy so you can weed out bad/toxic players and have replacements in no time. I personally think not being in a static is pretty nice too. The biggest downfall of this is not being able to optimize and also erratic clear times, but hey, I cleared E5S-E6S on week 1, E7S on week 2 through PF only, so I think that's pretty darn good.
Great vid as usual, really interesting. Always been a PS4 player and never tried raiding before, so no fflogs, but I wouldn't know who was using a 'particular device' anyway haha. Coupled with the fact there's tons of people that have been raiding for multiple expansions and the EXTREME volatility of party finder, for the most part I've given up on raiding before trying. It just felt like such an uphill climb that maybe isn't worth it. Maybe I'll experiment with a casual static next expansion with a bigger influx of players. Might not be as disastrous I think lol
I played WoW where I found my 3 year raiding group just by joining a guild. Now that I swapped to ffxiv and played for I bit I realize joining a guild/FC most likely won't find me a static group for PvE progression. The idea of using discord or reddit to find a static is new to me, as well as the potential requirement to log, but I am looking forward to it.
I've been a part of a couple statics. The first one had 5-6 static members and then PUG'd the last 2-3. I raided with them last tier, for the most part. However, as I wanted to get better, do more difficult content, they were more or less content to not get any better. The mentality was "If we clear, then we don't need to get any better." However, at the same time, they wanted to go through the hardest content. I decided the group wasn't really worth the time anymore. This tier, I found another static that needed a caster, as a SMN main looking for a group, I jumped on board. We went through a couple members before finally settling on what we have. We cleared the tier multiple times, and may be taking a break soon before possibly going into ultimate. The current group has very much helped me become a better player, whereas the last one didn't. The first group I almost never see on anymore. Right now, I've been looking for a second group to possibly go into ultimate with in case my current group decides they aren't interested (the consensus is, the interest is there, they just don't know when/how to start). I have a feeling this group will be together for a while, and we laugh with (and at) each other, get better together, and have one of the more positive energies I have seen from a group.
Ah, yes, the static question. Made the transition from Party Finder into looking a static fairly quickly last tier, as I felt held back by PF. And a right choice it was. I'm still with that static after almost a year now, with a minor break in between at the beginning of this tier, and at the end, we all got our first Ultimate clear out of it. Though I take a bit of an issue with the lax attitude of some of the people, I enjoy their company in raiding nights. I just wish we would do more as a group than just our scheduled raid nights, but any suggestions to optimizing runs or differing content has been shut down or pushed under the rug ever since
The thing about static recruitments is that it takes forever in some cases, a lot of people and I mean majority of the ff14 player base rushes through content. Honestly its hard to get into end game because it is hard to find a static. I wish there was something implemented in the actual game to help find a static.
So, my biggest issue with regards to joining a static is my work. The reason why it’s an issue, is that my work schedule is basically random from week to week. Due to the lack of consistency I am worried that I will end up getting in the group’s way or something. Do you have any advice for someone like me?
That's a good question, something I'd also like to know as I work 12hr swing shifts at night. One weekend I'm working 3 days then the next I'm not, so I imagine that'd be tough to find a willing static.
"The perfect group is out there." Cant believe its already 2 1/2 years since i started this game. And I agree. I always tell the newer players who wanna try the savage contents and looking for a group. Some of us do our best to teach the newer players what they need to know for their role, get them comfortable with the class they wanna play, while reminding them to have fun. :D
I don't miss Hardcore Raiding. During Wow LK era, I saw 4 guilds self-destruct due to disagreements. Most notable was a massive argument in Naxx over who was getting the Key to the Focusing Iris drop. Man, so much yelling and screaming in some groups! I do however, miss 25 man raids. So much fun!
I've always wanted to try savage content, I'm the type of player who improves when truly testing myself but I've never had the opportunity to be part of a static. At the start of shadowbringers our fc leader (been playing with him since arr) said he wanted to make an fc static, we were all ready, then some people didn't turn up. Instead of replacing them he and a couple of others decided to drop the rest of us and find their own, doesn't even ask if any of us were still interested. It's something I'd like to do with friends but I found out later he doesn't think I'm good enough (mythic raider back when I played "that" game, so it's not like I don't have experience of hard content in mmos) I find I learn more about my gameplay when I'm neck deep in the hardest content and I enjoy that. Don't think I'll ever get the chance to try it, which is a shame, I prefer groups that like to have a laugh but help each other to learn and overcome challenges without getting pissy over wipes but finding a group like that willing to take someone on who's new to savage is extremely hard if not impossible :(
had a e5-8 reclear static that had a whm who was friends with the leader. She never spoke on mic but always flamed people in chat when they messed up. When she wiped the group twice in a row on ramuh, she went to blame the random we had pugged for the week and the random said she was wrong. she then said “ok bye” and left the instance, the party, the cross world link shell, and the discord call. then she proceeded to type in the discord server “feel free to leave the static. Some of you were planning to anyways.” I left later that night, but I really regret not saying something like “you’re the only one with a problem, why would anyone else leave?” Man that would’ve felt so good. She’s an actual child though
Man your static sounds amazing, ive been in several toxic statics that just don't care about friendship or having fun, they just yell and get angry when they or someone else messes up, push each other way too hard or not enough there's no in between. Im a red mage main and i get told "JUST PLAY SUMMONER ITS BETTER" and i gave into that and left cause i wasnt have fun, then the static after that i wanted to play astro but apparently "white mage is better than astro just play white mage" same shit different group. MY latest group just fell apart cause we were stuck on shiva's light rampent due to our summoner being TOO LAZY to move with her orb in time. She literally said "i can't be bothered moving" i called her out on it and i got kicked from the static. Ive given up currently, taking a break from raiding, i seem to just attract the worst kinds of people.
I never found a good static group, so I given up on that a long time ago. Most endgame players are really rude and unwilling to help new players! Often they are very happy to help with older content, but when its stuff they need themselves they kick you asap if you dont keep up!
I would love to be able to take on Ultimate content but my play style and priorities just simply will not allow me to make that kind of dive. I don’t play consistently enough and I’ve had enough unpleasant experiences on this game to where I often have to decide whether or not I even want to bother continuing to play. This isn’t even taking into account irl....oh well. It was a good video though and the information was quite nice and well put together.
Any suggestion for someone brand new trying to get going? Like I don't have any FF logs so should I just go into Party Finder first and do some clears?
Hmm.. as someone that's been in static raiding exclusively - primarily in midcore (as in.. I want to have fun but still want to make reasonable progress) I haven't really had much issues on ffxiv recruitment with getting a static, I've pretty much been in an "apply and get accepted" scenario xD I have it in 3 blocks essentially (Intro+What I want to play+Scheduling, Ingame accomplishments, and an "Other interests" section), I generally look for a fun group that can progress.. though most of the time I join a static in the middle of the tier. I've kind of had the problem of keeping a static from one tier to the next though - some have been ultimate-related reasons (I'm personally no longer interested, kind of ptsd in midcore)
You're missing two things out of this video: Timing is everything: If you try to get a raid group 3 months after the raid tier dropped you're probably not going to be finding a group, or that group might not be that great. Getting experience to get into the good raid group: You're going to have to put in time if you're a new player. You're not just going to wall up to Bill Gates and ask for the highest paying job at Microsoft, you're gonna need some experience.
hey so im very green when it comes to stuff like raids and at sometime during the summer i'd like to look for a static so i'd just like to ask when it comes to a casual static whats the deal with ff logs will i still need that or no? and if yes i cant find my character on ff logs
i'm playing this game a bit over a year now, and since the last couple months the people of my fc made me a raidlead there for our own static. We keeping this very casual atm, but i see that people really want to get more progress done, but there are some issues here and i don't really know how to adress them, and since i'm still a new player, there are many things in this mmo i still don't know everything about. But i also don't want to kick people out of my group. I just want to be the best possible leader for my people there. Would it be possible to give me some advice here or over discord at some point? Thanks for your videos, espcially your tank Video you made helped me out to fix a lot of my flaws there so far!
As a black mage who has a relatively high skill level but has some consistency issues with im in a bad mood or burnt out/tired, i have to say that it has been an absolute nightmare finding a static. The only things i want out of a static are: 1) Take 4 weeks or less to clear a tier and 2) dont be dickwads/have a good atmosphere. As a black mage, finding a group that clears in 4 weeks or under has been impossible, simply no group wants me regardless of my parses and that lack of ability from statics caused me to get burnt out last tier and it has affected my parses of the last tier, being lower than average and my last experience caused me to just quit and play other games for a while(im still on that break). Ive found out that in the EU, its impossible to find a decent group who clears in under a month if you're a black mage, and im simply not willing to play classes that i dont give a fuck about and dont enjoy for several weeks at a time, i just want to have fun and ive found out that i dont have fun when a tier takes more than 5 weeks to clear, it drags on for too long. What advice would you give to someone like me who has been static hopping and has been burnt out by midcore traps and sHC traps over the course of several years now? How can i find a good static? Generally speaking i already do what you mention in the video but i havent had any luck and ive always had to compromise(take 6+ weeks to clear with a mediocre group) just to clear the tier which has been burning me out of FFXIV.
I just want a static that gives constructive criticism rather than just complaining non stop. Its ok to be frustrated, but when our goal’s just to clear whenever, I dont think that harassment is the way to go. I love to get pointers or even harsh criticism as long as its constructive
This is a nice video. I'm trying to make that WoW to FF14 transition myself and this game didn't seem like it had the same tools for finding a group. Would it be appropriate to use my WoW accolades when looking? Was in like top 5 of my spec in WoW so i don't know if that is worth mentioning in this game or not and have several high-end experience over my 13 years playing that game.
Thanks! I think a lot of players will have a hard time knowing what the specifics of wow raiding means, like I wouldn't say "I'm a top 100 player" or something. They don't know what that really means, because top 100 in ff and top 100 in wow are very different. Just be general with it and say "I have lots of raiding experience in wow and want to transition my skill set to FF." It comes off lighter, a bit nicer, and gets the same point across
Hey after 1yr of your upload I just found you... Idk if you will still be able to answer but the biggest problem I'm facing is that I'm on Console and most reddit post are requesting parse and logs and we as console can't do that, any suggestions on that?
Serious question here: Can a ps4 player be a success savage raider? I play on a ps4, and have been holding back from Savage content because im scared of players that won't accept me into the static, because I actually have 0 idea what my parse is. Or if im doing well or not in my class. I follow all the guides for my class and do extremes with usually no issues. But I still worry that not knowing how well I do, won't let me be as good as others in my class group. There for, wont be a valued team member.
tbh ur vide make me play better and have pretty good life in ffxiv but its really hard to find good static tbh im new to savage i have play only 2 patch eden gate and eden verse i try to find static after clear E5s because its so hard in my opinion and i want some good team to proging together but what i found is trap and non motivate player who dont try to make his skill better . every boss in E5s to E8s i have to clear alone in PF its make me so suffer to play with this group . its really hard to play with this kind of group TBH ;__; and i dont know how to find some good static anymore thanks to your video i will try to find new one but wew feels bad man
What sucks is I damn near begged non-stop for almost a year and still I got nothing. I had a static decimate my nin simply because they "needed" someone else and I found out I was the strongest melee and people hate that I'm rdm now. I am so dismayed by "hardcore" that I actually left FFXIV for a while.
What would you recommend for newer players to FFXIV that don't have logs but think they are a good player (example, I have had a static in Tera and WoW but am not experienced with the endgame raids in FFXIV). Should I start asking players I think do well in normal runs if they want to group and try harder ones?
IMO, you don’t know how good you are if you have zero logs and normal content parses are very different from savage. Start a group and parse for yourself if you are on PC. I recommend trying to get experience in even with pugging - learning parties for E5S and all.
@@hazeneko theres quality differences between people who game all the time vs people who play casually with low level of gaming experience. I bet if you took people who grew up playing challenging games vs people who played only story driven games and put them into a new game. The ones that have experience with failure until success will perform better. Maybe someone will run that study but I think people who are familiar with static groups and raiding in other MMOs generally will perform better than people who havent
w4it pro i think that is subjective. there are a lot of players who come from WoW w/ the idea they will perform great but then don’t bc at the end of the day, the two games are very different. Maybe adaptability to mechanics is better? It just rly depends on whether or not you wanna learn and improve. Experience in other mmos should be taken as a grain of salt. If you wanna do exceptionally well, reading guides, parsing, and checking balance discord will be the key. i also think knowing how the other roles function in fights help as well. i played TERA before and healers perform differently in FFXIV than they do in TERA.
Well, a lot of people calling themselves hardcore don't really understand the meaning of the word. I've seen quite a few that either defined themselves as that but had no interest in optimizing anything, or didn't know basic concepts like aDPS vs rDPS. It's one of those dunning kruger effect type of thing
I've had some really bad statics in the past. people screaming at each other every night. people going ahead of the group while another couple people raid log from day 1 and never get tomes. groups that just shit on the game and everything the devs do. I've been very lucky with my group the last couple years though. decent group that has grown together. friends, that give a shit about doing well, for the most part.
You really don't. Static raiding died in SHB. if you want a chill group of people who clear at a decent, not rushed pace, expecting only whats reasonable, aka doing your best to improve listening to constructive criticism, showing up on time and being a decent person, rather than judging you based on skewed parses, you're basically screwed. you could look for years and not succeed.
Yeah, but what would you say about right now? I'm a returning player and this game is genuinely just dead right now - I can't find groups for any ultimates let alone Savage that's 18 weeks old. Don't think finding a static is too feasible atm, and if it is it's going to mainly just be casual groups since most MC/HC players are far above and done with shit as we wait for 5.3
Yes, at the current moment finding a team is going to be hard. Most groups are on break until the next tier, mine included. Your best bet is to either wait or just start making friends that enjoy raiding.
"You won't get every job you apply for."
FACTS. Great advice overall.
HI Taru!! 😄
Tell 'em Taru!
Truest words spoken 😁
Yeah this stopped being possible a good while back.
Another thing I would add is making sure everyone in the static is on the same page. If you're casual, make sure all of your members are casual. And do not bring friends into the static.
Ah, a video on the REAL hardest part of raiding.
Good video, very level-headed assessment.
Glad you enjoyed it!
More chance of winning the mega millions than that happening.
Even if you don't plan to stay forever, it can be a good learning experience
You’ve never done savage
This video was really interesting for me personally. I'm relatively new to the game, but still want to do some "High-End-Content" and doing progress with a fix group, but was not able to find a group for myself. Thank you for sharing your experience and tips for that :3
I really do appreciate that! ♥
Glad you enjoyed!
Miss raiding with you dood I feel you on the HC statics lol
You meant you miss clicking a button and being teleported right in front of a boss in a meaningless garbage game.
@@asdfqwer9557 lol someone’s salty
Really liked that. Been wanting to join a static for a while but I have really limited experience with high level content.
This was exactly useful, thank you! I'm almost done with the Shadow Bringers msq and want to start raiding as a healer at a casual level.😁
It's a little unrelated, but the advice here actually works for finding a TTRPG group too
- very casual table everyone plays as players and hanging out doing whatever along the plot
- cares about characters and the system and talks to each other about the game outside of sessions
- focuses on the characters or the system (or both! not mutually exclusive!) and the natural progression of interaction, with a player preference toward an emphasis on the characters and their growth rather than who can show off the highest meme.
Very interesting, I've never played a table top RPG so it's cool that the mentalities are similar
Reminds me of my current DnD group. Well sit and bs for an hour, play hard and try to make it the next week. I'll tell you what though. It's some of the most fun I've had in my life.
@@NamesLynx I think you would enjoy the ttrpg world based on the script in your video.
After watching this video over and over, i'm finally joining my first static for 6.0 Excited as hell! Thanks for the advice on finding one
Love the content, keep it up!
Appreciate it!
Play what you want and fuck everything else is the most important lesson I ever learned in my many years of raiding on different games.
Thank you for this video, it's exactly what I've been interested in. I got into the game recently with the goal to clear the big fights but the idea of finding a static without having any experience really confuses me.
Glad I could help!
Was very involved in End game of other games but only started XIV 5months ago and just now looking at getting into savage content here. This video was very helpful and greatly appreciated.
I found your channel recently, i honestly enjoy your content. Thank you, for it. It amazing.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks man! I joined the discord and got into TEA Static 2 weeks ago, we're now doing BJ+CC Prog :)
i'd argue this part is harder than the fights themselves.
Who the hell would say no to Lynx Kameli? sounds like players who are clueless to me >.> "we can find a better tank"
“do u know who de fook he is? press f to show respect” lol just kidding
It's a great idea to take advice from your team and I'm glad you found a group that gives you suggestions instead of ultimatums.
For europeans: there is the European Raiding Central discord channel :)
Thank you
I've been playing during Stormblood in kind of a semi static, like we were 4 or 5 players, and pugging the needed players, that was cool :D
Solid and true advice.
Might not be as disastrous I think lol
nice video, makes me miss the good ol days with my "static" for a different mmo haha
Glad you enjoyed
Sounds like a pain tbh, if thats what it takes to clear savage/ultimate content then i guess its not for me.
"State your FF logs"
*dies in console player*
"The perfect group is out there."
Cant believe its already 2 1/2 years since i started this game.
And I agree. I always tell the newer players who wanna try the savage contents and looking for a group. Some of us do our best to teach the newer players what they need to know for their role, get them comfortable with the class they wanna play, while reminding them to have fun. :D
Lynx is just real and genuine to himself. I hate that people fucked with him over this game. If you thought Lynx was toxic you should play classic WOW
Even if you said it she isn't open to learn so she will always be bad, be glad you didn't waste time on such a person.
They did you a favour kicking you from that group as they literally will not clear Shiva if their summoner cant put in the effort.
I never found a good static group, so I given up on that a long time ago. Most endgame players are really rude and unwilling to help new players! Often they are very happy to help with older content, but when its stuff they need themselves they kick you asap if you dont keep up!
this video was good bro
Thanks!
thanks for pointing out how alone i am
I've found all my statics - in game through PF. Our hate keeps us together. ;)
Damn he got me I do drink while playing 😂 only on old content tho 😂😂😂😂
oh how i miss Protect!
I've been trying to find or get into that discord but the link invite is expired and I cant find it no matter where I look.
Good vid
Any suggestion for someone brand new trying to get going? Like I don't have any FF logs so should I just go into Party Finder first and do some clears?
Hmm.. as someone that's been in static raiding exclusively - primarily in midcore (as in.. I want to have fun but still want to make reasonable progress)
I haven't really had much issues on ffxiv recruitment with getting a static, I've pretty much been in an "apply and get accepted" scenario xD I have it in 3 blocks essentially (Intro+What I want to play+Scheduling, Ingame accomplishments, and an "Other interests" section), I generally look for a fun group that can progress.. though most of the time I join a static in the middle of the tier. I've kind of had the problem of keeping a static from one tier to the next though - some have been ultimate-related reasons (I'm personally no longer interested, kind of ptsd in midcore)
You're missing two things out of this video:
Timing is everything: If you try to get a raid group 3 months after the raid tier dropped you're probably not going to be finding a group, or that group might not be that great.
Getting experience to get into the good raid group: You're going to have to put in time if you're a new player. You're not just going to wall up to Bill Gates and ask for the highest paying job at Microsoft, you're gonna need some experience.
Only one answer: trial and errors
I can't wait to join a static but I'm also terrified because I've never done savage before and I'm afraid of failure. LFG lmao
hey so im very green when it comes to stuff like raids and at sometime during the summer i'd like to look for a static so i'd just like to ask when it comes to a casual static whats the deal with ff logs will i still need that or no? and if yes i cant find my character on ff logs
i'm playing this game a bit over a year now, and since the last couple months the people of my fc made me a raidlead there for our own static.
Generally speaking i already do what you mention in the video but i havent had any luck and ive always had to compromise(take 6+ weeks to clear with a mediocre group) just to clear the tier which has been burning me out of FFXIV.
oh hey it's Chaotic Zero, SARG represent! o/
I just want a static that gives constructive criticism rather than just complaining non stop. Its ok to be frustrated, but when our goal’s just to clear whenever, I dont think that harassment is the way to go. I love to get pointers or even harsh criticism as long as its constructive
I've wanted to join statics but am always so nervous lol. Maybe I'll look for a casual one that doesn't mind I haven't done much raiding.
What advice would you give to PS4 players who don't have logs to show during the application process?
Just state that to the person you’re taking to, most people are understanding
Just be general with it and say "I have lots of raiding experience in wow and want to transition my skill set to FF." It comes off lighter, a bit nicer, and gets the same point across
i came to this vid from the recruiter discord and all i gotta say is how big are your hands to use 7 onwards on your keyboard
Hey after 1yr of your upload I just found you... Idk if you will still be able to answer but the biggest problem I'm facing is that I'm on Console and most reddit post are requesting parse and logs and we as console can't do that, any suggestions on that?
you can have othes post logs, and most casual statics dont require logs, try making parse parties in pf!
Yes you can

“FF logs or get the boot”
Guess I’ll die as it’s my first time attempting to raid :’(
tbh ur vide make me play better and have pretty good life in ffxiv but its really hard to find good static tbh im new to savage i have play only 2 patch eden gate and eden verse i try to find static after clear E5s because its so hard in my opinion and i want some good team to proging together but what i found is trap and non motivate player who dont try to make his skill better . every boss in E5s to E8s i have to clear alone in PF its make me so suffer to play with this group . its really hard to play with this kind of group TBH ;__; and i dont know how to find some good static anymore thanks to your video i will try to find new one but wew feels bad man
What sucks is I damn near begged non-stop for almost a year and still I got nothing. I had a static decimate my nin simply because they "needed" someone else and I found out I was the strongest melee and people hate that I'm rdm now. I am so dismayed by "hardcore" that I actually left FFXIV for a while.
I know that feeling :(
What would you recommend for newer players to FFXIV that don't have logs but think they are a good player (example, I have had a static in Tera and WoW but am not experienced with the endgame raids in FFXIV).
Find a group that's new and willing to teach you savage, or join party finder progression groups and get some experience.
w4it pro i think that is subjective. there are a lot of players who come from WoW w/ the idea they will perform great but then don’t bc at the end of the day, the two games are very different. Maybe adaptability to mechanics is better?
It just rly depends on whether or not you wanna learn and improve. Experience in other mmos should be taken as a grain of salt. If you wanna do exceptionally well, reading guides, parsing, and checking balance discord will be the key.
i also think knowing how the other roles function in fights help as well. i played TERA before and healers perform differently in FFXIV than they do in TERA.
hmm i have no ff logs since im on ps4 what server are you on?
So if you don't like discord and absolutely despise reddit there's no way to get static?
You can use the party finder
@@NamesLynx I had no idea there was a party finder thank you!
Well, a lot of people calling themselves hardcore don't really understand the meaning of the word. I've seen quite a few that either defined themselves as that but had no interest in optimizing anything, or didn't know basic concepts like aDPS vs rDPS. It's one of those dunning kruger effect type of thing
Sorry, what are rDPS and aDPS?
@Lynx Kameli how can get into raiding if i have never done FFLogs, parse, etc...
Find a group that's new and willing to teach you savage, or join party finder progression groups and get some experience.
man, finding a static that doesn't fall apart sounds way more difficult than clearing any Ultimate lmao
So uhh, what does one do if they know nothing about ff logs 😅
Step 1: Break the "im scared of talking to people" mentality that most of the solo players whine about
where do people find statics ? pf ? discord ?
Did you watch the video?
Next tier i need static have enough of pf
Oh well, I failed at crazy person.
Recruitment discord link not working?
link should work fine, you just have to copy & paste it into your browser since it's a redirect.
back in the day using guides for games was considered cheating...but now it today's world of instant gratification... o_0
@@NamesLynx That's the hard part :'(
