They threw this whole thing together in about 3-5 days. They put a call out to the fans to send in any footage that they could find for the video. And of course, Darren Rust (their producer, also in the video) was able to drop everything & help out as well at his studio. It was quite an undertaking at a moment's notice. The HF machine/extended family really came together on this. It was so cool. Tim's home town & the surrounding areas are small & didn't get all the news coverage that Houston & the bigger cities got. I can tell you first hand what a devastating event that was. It was also heart warming to see so many people come together to help. I live up in Dallas. My Jeep club organized a supply run to get to one of the smaller communities just outside Houston. We took 60+ Jeeps and 13 pickups with large trailers full of supplies down. We would pull into gas stations and people would clear the pumps so we could fill up and get back on the road down there quickly. This one had me crying my eyes out for a long time. They did a really sweet thing with this song. I've liked this song and Kick A Little, another Little Texas song, for ages. Jeff Foxworthy got together with Little Texas and did a video to Party All Night and it's funnier than heck, considering it's Jeff. Could you put this one on your list please? Jeff Foxworthy with Little Texas - Party All Night (Video) is what comes up when you look for it. After hearing this and finding the video, it became another Little Texas favorite. Thanks! ^_^
It's silly stupid, but I laugh through it all the way. Jeff's sense of humor.... I"m a bit warped I suppose. This is one of those things that make me laugh.
The song could have gone the sad route, but it was well chosen and performed and made me feel more of a feeling of people coming together after disaster to help each other and with pride behind it to carry on.
It was a possum...wild, which is why he held it by the tail instead of just picking it up, lol. Texans are amazing. When anything happens, they mobilize en mass. For Harvey, and for Katrina, every good ole boy with a boat or truck, hauled goods and water that were donated, and collected by HEB grocery stores (a Texas chain..the Herbert E Butts stores), to wherever it was needed. And Tim runs on that same good ole boy spirit. :) I love these guys, and I love Texas!
Haha...thank you for 'splainin! Me, thinking it was a cat, wondered why they pulled it by its tail. Several people here have reminded me that I'm blind, and said it was a possum. And the kindness during this emergency was so overwhelming to watch!
Harvey made landfall down by Port Aransas where I used to live. (I had moved away before it hit but I lost a house that I was selling). My cousin was in Vidor and had to be evacuated by boat. Her daughter actually went to high school in Nederland with Tim, although she was a couple years behind him. They are still repairing their home as I write this. My daughter lives in north Texas and my son-in-law and oldest grandson were 2 of the volunteers who took trucks, SUVs and boats for rescue operations along with supplies. I have many friends who lost everything or are still rebuilding. God bless Texas, and God bless Home Free for being part of the rebuilding.
I'm sorry about the home you lost...I am thankful that I never experienced anything like that, but I do get moved when I see the selflessness and kindness of people helping each other out when tragedies like that happen. Thank you for sharing...I'm also jealous that your cousin's daughter went to school with Tim, lol!🤣 Have a great week!
D. Lynn I love the stories of courage in the face of disaster. I’m so proud of my son and grandson. Honestly, if we as people could focus more on the good things that we do for each other, the world would be a better place. The “Cajun navy” that came into Houston with boats from Louisiana during Harvey, the people who are responding to the Nashville tornado... that’s the real America. Not all the crap we see on the news. As Home Free says, “it might be up to me and you what the world is coming to.”
@@sheilaschnorr3087 nice Home Free reference! I agree, if only we could all forget our differences...thank you again for your thoughtfulness and positivity! 💜
Part of this arrangement of the song includes a totally different song: "Deep in the Heart of Texas." Here's the WIKI link for it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_in_the_Heart_of_Texas The Little Texas song "God Blessed Texas" didn't include that part, though they did use a different song as a lead-in at one time (which never made it into a recording): "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You." I grew up with "Deep in the Heart of Texas" (written in 1941), which ALWAYS includes the hand-clapping at the two places in the rhythm where it belongs. Our choir leader (in Valdez, Alaska) who taught me music from the time I was 5 until I was 18, was from Texas originally, and she almost always included that song somewhere in our concerts, if she possibly could. ;-) I also loved Little Texas and their rendition of "God Blessed Texas" when it came out, so this arrangement, by Home Free really hit home with me. It's one of my favorites, and I always love seeing all the rescues, and the heart of the people. Thank you very much for reacting to it, D. HUGS!
Hey G! Yeah, I noticed Deep In The Heart Of Texas...I actually sang it as part of a patriotic play I did in 4th grade (claps and all). I didn't mention it because I wasn't sure if Little Texas originally added it (which you have answered that) and it wasn't mentioned in the article I read about the HF version. I love how they do that stuff, though. I guess it's not quite a mashup...just a bonus song-in-a-song? But thank you for the history on it!😁
I agree with Mary Tucker. The "cat" was a possum. The hairless tail is the give-away. He wasn't dead. His head pulled up when he was being put in the boat and he stood on four feet when set down. Of course there is the argument. Why would someone rescue a dead possum? It was alive. It was another rescue, one of many, in the video.
