It's so great to see Adam getting the respect he deserves. Even today, after all his success and undeniable talent, people ridicule and make fun of him all the time. I don't get that. Adam Lambert is easily one of the best singers of his generation. If I may, I highly suggest checking out his cover of Believe by Cher at the 41st annual Kennedy Center Honors. Absolutely outstanding! Even Cher herself was visibly moved.

What made that Who Wants To Live Forever performance all the more powerful was before he started, he said "This song is dedicated to every one who lost their lives last night." referencing the Pulse Nightclub Shooting in Florida where members of the LGBTQ community were targeted and murdered. He was angry, and mournful and helpless and resigned and you could really feel those emotions in the performance.

  • @gaylechauvin9647
    @gaylechauvin9647 2 місяці тому +69

This was dedicate to all the people killed in Florida at the gay club, you need to see the very beginning when he talks about it. This performance even floored Brian and Roger

I saw Queen live in Boston on Oct 15th 2023. Adam is AMAZING! He keeps getting better and better. You have to hear him sing live - there's nothing like it. Videos don't quite capture the power and beauty of his voice or his stage presence. He's bigger than life! I enjoy his solo shows even more because he interacts with the audience more than his does with Queen. That first time he made eye contact with me, I stopped breathing.♥ It's great to see people like you who appreciate Adam instead of complaining that he's not Freddie.

The first words Adam Lambert uttered on stage with Queen was something along the lines of " I'm not replacing Freddie Mercury. No one could." He and Queen wanted to bring their music into the present for a new generation to fall in love with. Queen were always looking. I heard they thought of John Farnham but he declined. Then along came Adam Lambert on American Idol singing Queen and doing it brilliantly. He is so versatile.
You should also check out the Grammy (I think) performance of Believe that brings Cher to tears

When you have someone whose voice is one of the best out there and he appeals to the women and men like Freddie did, how could you not love him??!!?? What's even better he's better there in the audience than on video. He has one of the most powerful voice I have experienced in 50+ years of 100s of concerts!

Adam is an amazing man. Imagine what qualities, besides a magnificent voice, a dude must have in order to fall in love with the best musicians in the world and perform with them for more than 12 years. Those who have communicated with Lambert speak with delight about his charm, sense of humor, self-irony. Roger Taylor calls Adam "Our magical nightingale", and Brian -"A Gift from Got" and most of all they regret that they met him so late

I've been to the AL+Queen concert once and as a person, who's been bombarded with Queen from the very young age - I loved it. Adam is a worthy singer to sing Freddy's songs. He doesn't pretend to be Freddy, he pays homage but also stays true to himself. My 60 year-old mom went to that concert with me and she also had the best time ever.

I couldn’t have been happier when I heard he would be their front man and he has not disappointed. I love that he is not trying to sound like Freddie (nobody ever will) but does he ever embody the same spirit. Enough of the spirit of Freddie that he blends in seamlessly. Enough humbleness and sense of self to know that no one will ever fill Freddie's shoes, so he has no desire to try. He's just out having his own party. Adam is a great performer who has matched up with great performers (Brian and Roger) and they're out there making new magic night after night.

And they like Adam so much! They've said they won't tour with someone they don't like, and they want the best voice they can get--that's Adam! I think it's very much like a father/son relationship between my beloved old men and Adam, both having sons they're so proud of, and speaking so fondly of Adam in every interview! I'm so proud of all of them, and Spike for being the first to let them know about Adam!

The first tour in America, when Rufus, Roger's second son, was playing percussion (and is now the drummer for The Darkness) my daughter surprised me with tickets and drove me 7 hours to Nashville to see them because she's a fan, too. Reading later that Adam and Rufus would hang out sometimes was cool--though the thought of those two out in Nashville night life, both of them a head taller than most men there, scares me, since I'm a southerner and the violence in all of America, well, the whole world, is always just waiting--anyway I loved hearing that the two youngest celebrities on the tour could be friends, with all their differences--probably just because Roger Taylor is a great father and Rufus isn't his son for nothing! He knows his middle name was given to him because of Freddie's suggestion!

You have hit the nail on the head. I have lost count how many times I have seen Queen and Adam perform. You are correct in that there are people there from 8 to 80. All are united. There is such respect between Brian, Roger, and Adam. It is a beautiful thing to see. Now look at one of the live performances of my favorite Queen song "The Show must Go On." This was a match made in Heaven. Brian calls Adam "a gift from God." He has allowed Queen to tour again. Adam can sing all of their catalogue, and in the key it was written. Watching then together is just joyous!

Commenting before I’ve even watched this - FINALLY!!! You’re going to love this!!!!! Not Freddie - obviously- but Adam is a once in a generation voice he can sing opera, pop, rock, classical, broadway, soul… his ability to cross genres matches only John Farnham. Different voices but their technical ability coupled with performance, passion and ease. You need to hear him since the show must go on live from the 02. My god.

There are dozens of interviews with Roger and Brian.. praising Adam and what he’s brought to the table! They genuinely adore each other.. it’s allowed Brian and Roger to continue to tour with their (and of course ) Freddie’s amazing catalog of music. Adam does not ever miss an opportunity to show his appreciation for Freddie, and remind the audience that he ISN’T Freddie.. isn’t trying to be. He just loves being able to sing the songs.. and enjoy/entertain the crowds!! It was a ‘match made in Heaven’.. and I’m certain Freddie is somewhere smiling!!! Great reaction, thanks. (New sub)..

Hello, this is a German Glambert :-), thanks for this reaction! Seeing you get so emotional was unexpected, but somehow wonderful. It's hard to believe that you never saw Queen + Adam Lambert, but I'm glad that you finally did! You would have missed something very good and special. Adam is such a unique singer with an outstanding voice and a great talent for performing. In my opinion he fits in so well with Queen because he has the same spirit, if you can call it that. He lives the music and he adores Freddie as much as the audience does. He's a fan like them and he just happens to be that one singer who can express his love through song without hiding his own personality. I was never a big Queen fan when Freddie was alive. I knew the songs, of course, but that was about it. Now, thanks to Adam, I know the band better, have seen them live and hope to do so again. And I understand how unique Freddie was and why it's a real tragedy that he died way too soon.

I think Adam is underrated by a lot of people, he doesn't try to be Freddie and admits that he couldnt be him but wants to do justice to their songs and keep Queens music alive for the younger generations. Now my kids and grandkids are all into Queen, although some wont admit it 😅

Try some of his solo work as well. 5 albums worth. I thankfully got to see Queen with Freddie several times and I have seen them with Adam. So, glad you checked out Queen with Adam Lambert. I saw Queen with Adam in Chicago during their 2014 tour and what an incredible concert. You nailed it...Adam came right out and said "I'm not Freddie Mercury".
You've got to check out the 2011 MTV EMA Awards with Adam where they absolutely blew up twitter with the performance... ua-cam.com/video/lmdmtTssDb4/v-deo.html. And then there's the 2014 iHeart Music Festival performance in 2013 ua-cam.com/video/YykXqMNP2wI/v-deo.html. Both are breakout performances for Queen and Adam.
Adam never misses a note ever. He's incredible. When you watch the interviews with Adam and there's an hour long documentary and he's the most humble guy out there. Roger and Brian are both in awe of Adam's voice and thrilled to have him sing Freddie's songs. It's an incredible match. Glad you checked this out!! Loved and fully expected this to be your reaction!!

Saw them last October in Chicago. They were all amazing! Brian and Roger know talent when they hear it and Adam has a great personality. They were lucky to find each other. Freddie would be glad that he keeps their legacy going for a younger generation.

Adam said when he joined them, they gave him an armful of records, and he went home to learn the songs. He was partway through the first record, when it occurred to him that if he learned from Freddie, he’d just be a Freddie impersonator…..so he went to the piano player, and learned the songs with him accompanying him. So, he was just Adam singing. I love Change is Gonna Come

Thank you so much for your great reaction! It's a shame you hesitated for so long before listening to Queen with Adam. I've been enjoying them for 12 years and have been to their concert here in Europe several times. I've been to the concerts of many other bands and singers, and I have to say that Queen and Adam were always the most amazing experience for me. Adam is my obsession, I have also been to his solo concerts and it was always amazing. He is an extraordinary singer and a great entertainer.

Every single song on the Queen + Adam Lambert Around the World is a total gem! Love, love fat Bottomed Girls written by Brian May. Who not only is a fabulous musician and song writer, but is an astrophysicist who has collaborated with NASA. I wish I could see a concert with them. Adam Lambert is totally under rated, which I don't understand at all. I listen to that group of songs most days, brightens my days enormously.

Check it at about 11:02 in your video, how happy and energized Roger looks. I saw QAL several months ago and this was the vibe of everybody at the show. Which was indeed an amazing mix, lots of middle aged parents with their adult children, old folks the same age as Brian and Roger (heh), and even some tweens. Bringing the generations together indeed!

My husband was blessed to see Queen twice while Freddie was with us, and has been a lifelong fan. He was very skeptical when I said I really wanted to see them live, but was completely blown away in the end. Last year we drove 10 hours to see them again. He even said it was the best show he'd ever been to. You can just feel the absolute joy that Brian and Roger and Spike and the rest of the band have in being able to perform their songs that pay absolute honor to the way they were meant to be enjoyed.

Queen didn't want an impressionist. They wanted someone who could entertain, bring the essence, but be his own performer. Adam is an INCREDIBLY talented performer with one of the best male voices of the last few decades. They literally discovered him on American Idol here in the US. He's technically a better singer than Freddie Mercury, but that does not take away the legend of Freddie.

    • @mollyhall2954
      @mollyhall2954 Місяць тому +2

As Adam has said so often, he's a fan of Freddie's, too. I'm sure he knows that if Freddie hadn't paved the way, and all the other people along the way with him, Adam's parents might not have reacted the way they did, as good people and parents, when they knew before Adam did, as he said, that he was gay and gotten him into the theater and voice training. He wouldn't be a technically better singer, if not for them (his parents might have tried to make him play football instead!) I wish so much that Freddie, along with the brief piano lessons he had, was given voice training instead of having to teach himself to sing rock and roll, when they had no money for rent, and then he endured countless nights of pain on tour, with all those cups of honey and water on his piano, and singing anyway, even after there was plenty of money! Only Caballe got Freddie to sing in his natural baritone!

I remember seeing Adam on American Idol-one of his audition pieces was Bohemian Rhapsody, and I remember thinking “this guy could seriously front Queen.” One of the final (episodes, the finalists got to sing WITH QUEEN) and it was such an obvious fit. I was thrilled when they announced that this was going to happen. No, there’ll never be another Freddie, but there’s an Adam and it seems like he was made to follow in his footsteps.
As I recall when Adam introduced himself to the panel he said he’d been performing with a touring company of Wicked, so lots and lots of vocal training coming into this. And Simon of course gave him a rip for being “dramatic.” Exactly what Queen needed, in other words.
And really, for all that gray hair, May and Taylor still have it, don’t they?
    Loved this reaction!

Fabulous reaction, thank you! 2 of my very favourite Queen songs done magnificently by Adam & Queen! Was lucky enough to see them in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 in 2020 just one month before lockdown, best concert ever! I adored Freddie but Adam is the only singer who can do Queen songs so magnificently & he can do it all! Their music is now available to a whole new generation, there are people who go to see Adam & come away Queen fans & vice versa! Thank you again, love from Oz🇦🇺

They DO NOT WANT A TRIBUTE. BRIAN MAY SAID THAT WANTED SOMETHING "FRESH", "NEW" AND "DANGEROUS". This is WHY that Martel guy was never going to get hired. And, it resonanted w/them that Adam, too, was a gay man.

He's fantastic! Saw Queen +Adam Lambert twice this past October and there are no words to describe the magic of their collaboration. I read recently that Adam is only 4 notes short of Freddie's range. I posted a video I took from the concert. I would see them a thousand times together! ❤

Your critique is spot on. The way you describe how he’s not Freddie, there’ll never be another Freddie (which Adam has said many many times), but Adam has a little bit of Freddie in him - exactly!! And how he’s brought so many more young people to love Queens music - again EXACTLY. You are the only reactors that I’ve seen finally “get it”. THANK YOU ❤❤❤ Oh and by the way, Freddie makes an “appearance” or two in every one of their shows

I was lucky enough to see Queen at the New Theatre in Oxford in 1974, the first song was Now Im Here and the stage was dark and when Freddie sung that line the spot light flashed on him, he had his all in one white suit on. It was a small theatre and we sat 8 rows from the front and in those days there was only a short distance to the stage. One concert I will never forget

I never got to watch Freddie live, I was 15 when they played in Manchester UK and my mom wouldn't let me go. I did watch Queen & Paul Rogers in Manchester many years later, in my late 30's. I still recall the moment I saw Adam's first audition on America's Got Talent and I said then, his theatrical presence and his voice would pair perfectly as front man for Queen, so was not at all surprised when his last song on the show, was performed with Queen. I now live in the US and I was at one of the very first Queen/Adam Lambert concerts, it was amazing! Paul Rogers was great, but Lambert was a close to Freddie as I will ever get!
