Warsaw is Awesome. I was there this past Christmas 2023 first time to Poland. I took the cooking class at PIEROGI & MORE my partner in the cooking class was the author of the book you showed Polish Your Kitchen Anna Hurning from the UA-cam channel Polish Your Kitchen. It was the Christmas Eve Dinner ( Wigilia. ).
Hey guys 😊 My Girlfriend and I were with you in the cooking class 👍🏻 Your Video makes me now hungry for more 🤣 Hope you have a Nice day whereever you are right Now. Greetings Jens and Sonja
Great video of your time in Poland. It is so neat to see the architecture in Europe as it is so different from the United States. Glad that you filmed the cooking class and it looks like you both had a good experience there.
To be precisly: The ''Old Town,, is just a copy.To be more precisly. It was rebuild from prewar postcards or even XVII paintings due to the fact that all original blueprints were delibaretly destroyed all together with city and most of population in 1944 by Germans. It was personal Hitler's wish as a ''example,, to all occupied Europe for uprising against their ''master race,, rule.Such a ''wish,, was given in the very same time to military who occupied Paris but was dismissed as ''inpossibe,, as a lack of explosives and time in the face of advancing armies from D-Day invansion. In case of Warsaw Germans HAD a weeks of time to completly destroy the city and piles of explosives from the eastern front.Soviets were halted on order from Stalin and simply watched the destruction.Pile of ruins that were once one of the city of 1.4 mln people were ''liberated,, by soviets in january of 1945.Communist rebuild the Old Town house after house. The Royal Castle was finished in mid of '70's.Modern skyline is a brand new thing with corporation skyscrapers that are build only recently. This fate of Warsaw is well known.Rest of the country was relativly in good shape left after the war to compare with.In terms of population it was 26% lost of prewar times...if was last longer or simply won by Germans there wouldn't be single Polish left - plan was to exterminate every non ''Arian,, and to rebuild every town to german standards just in 30 years time span.Whaterever we can say now against advanced soviets their post war politics and so on - if not them...we wouldn't be here.So to speak.
We thank the Anglo-Saxons for enriching the Polish language with a new grammatical number: 1/ pieróg - singular 2/ pierogi - plural 3/ pierogis - hiperplural (NEW!)😉🤩
In the old town, when you were filming old buildings, there were small houses on the roofs of these buildings. There were no numbers on the buildings on the old dudynki, but on the On the fronts of the buildings there were cartouches with various images, e.g. there was a sailing ship specifying that the building belonged to a colonial merchant etc. .
I love your allways happy behave. This is important for me as a pleased viewer. Even though I know, that something like this, might not always be possible, you give me a great and pleasant time, by watching your videos. Yes, Poland in Eastern Europe is also very beautiful !
(I've seen it also a lot, allthough I don't understand the language !!) Thank you very much.
Loving your videos, guys thank you. I’m glad you e discovered the huge advantages associated with staying in prime locations in the old towns of whichever city you’re exploring! I have friends who boast about how little they are spending for a certain stint in a city but then they spend upwards of an hour or more travelling to and from each day, so in effect, it’s false economy, cos of the transport costs each day. More than that, and as you mention in this video, the buzz you get from staying in the heart of things is such an advantage! I LOVE being able to walk out my door and in minutes I’m in the vibe of the place. Plus, it’s such a bonus being able to drop into your accommodation if you want to drop off your groceries or grab an extra jacket, or just have a break for a short time! So grateful to be able, like you guys to explore incredible places! Travel is food for the soul! Cheers from Australia
I had that exact same meal at that exact same restaurant at 1:18, I even took a picture of it too lol. Nice restaurant on a nice street first thing in the morning too in August 2024. Fun fact: be in Warsaw in the summer on Saturday and Sunday and they close the Royal Route to cars. On Sundays you can listen to Chopin in the Royal Park at noon and at 4 pm!
I love eating pierogis but hate making them - pain in the ass I make a few kinds - ground pork w/onions, cheese filled, and then pork onion with fried suarkaraut - my pierogi is bigger than normal
Warsaw was called Paris of North in 1920s/1930s. Too bad the city was so badly destroyed during World War Two. It was rebuilt but it has lost its original historic values. Great observation decks in Varso Tower and Palace of Culture and Science. Old town is amazing. Beautiful Royal Castle and Royal Park/Garden (Lazienki). Good public transportation: subway, trolleys/trams and buses. Good restaurants serving traditional Polish and international dishes. Very nice cafes/ pastry places. Good night clubs for people who like to stay up late and have late night drinks. Amazing Warsaw Uprising Museum.
I may have missed it in this super smooth and wonderful video - I'm going here in a month and I'm a bit nervous about language barriers. Did you learn any Polish? Was it hard to read the menu's or speak with anyone?

I lived in Warsaw from the age of 15 from 2005 to 2018. High School 2005-2008 nothing special, virtually no prominent people around - but very fine. 2008 - 2018 just great - practically non-stop people from the absolute top in Poland (the best historians in the country, the best economists around) just non-stop everything that's best, great friends and people from the absolute top in the country. Since 2018, I've been there practically on holidays, although I live about 45 minutes from the city. For the last 6 years, this city has not interested me at all and I would rather go to Berlin, Dublin, Copenhagen, Chicago than there...
