My grandparents read the newspaper in the morning and that was it. No tv news. Managing digital input is like a second job that pays zero and monopolizes too much of the day. I have like 40k emails in my inbox that would take years to go thru so...I don’t.
Thank you so much for this! It's just what I needed. I've been a social media manager for musicians for 16 years, and I've never been more stressed out by the job. I already had the notifications on my desktop shut off, but I just shut off all notifications on my phone except for my Phone, Calendar, Mail and Messages. I gave up the news years ago. This will help. There's no need to pick up our phones more than a few times a day unless they ring.
Oh Christine, this made our day! GREAT work setting your boundaries and silencing those notifications. We're rooting for you and sending you tons and tons of support. ❤❤
Loved this one! We are renovating and the builders cut our TV cable - so no TV - full-circle for me as I grew up with no TV in the house - like you say - great being uninformed! We are all set to continue no longer watching the 6pm news! Turned off the mobile notifications too - liberating! Thanks so much Marie. xx
Turning off notifications is easy. Getting other people to accept that you're not going to respond to every text message, slack message, email, etc. in one nanosecond is a whole other problem.
I watched already eight or nine minutes of this video, and I can say I am better at some habits than others. I disabled almost all notifications from my phone (the 4th habit I think), and I only go to UA-cam to listen to ambient or chill out music, a dumb soccer video every now on then, a friend of mine who does trips around Europe and the world, and only two things more. Being focused helps and alleviates you quite a lot ❤ Great video Marie, I am sure a lot of people will relate to your tips in the comments 😊
Love this, Xavier! It sure sounds like you know how to keep things balanced and in check. Way to go - thank you so much for sharing and for being here!
I am Autistic and get easily overstimulated. I've cut out some things and make sure I have enough down time and get good sleep. Sleep is key for my mental health.
Within the first 20 seconds of this video I found myself responding to messages and scrolling through the comments section, and then felt RESISTANCE when I reasoned with myself this should stop. Cannot wait to undo my tech addiction.
Isn't that wild?! You're not alone in this - not one bit. Sending you tons of love and support as you move forward. We'll beat our tech addictions together! ❤
Thanks a million for great tips how to be concentrated on what matters to us! Marie, you're my inspirator and motivator ❤ Great that we have you with your unique gift to inspire people around the world 🌍
I completely, wholeheartedly want to do everything you (& many others) suggest. However, my job as a freelance contractor is often based on job request emails that are “first come, first served”. If you are qualified, available, & one of the first to reply, you get the assignment. I use this as an excuse to be like Pavlov’s dog, and every time my phone buzzes, I jump on it. I mean literally within 30 seconds. If not, I am missing work. The kicker comes when I then fall down a rabbit hole while I’m on there. I feel like I’m in an endless loop which I can’t seem to find a workaround.
This is such an important perspective to share, Sasha. So many of us are at the beck and (literal) call of our phones because they're our livelihood. It sounds like you'd be such a perfect candidate for Time Genius - Marie's strategies can help! Check out more here: www.jointimegenius.com/join
I don’t know what your work is, but could an auto responder work for you? Say you put in the top 3 things you get asked for by the recruiters and then set aside time a few times to get back to them in bulk. Good luck out there :)
@@IMCPstar Hey 👋 Thx for the comment. I am a freelance interpreter. The interpreting agencies blast mass requests which include date, time, location, etc. I quickly read them, assess if I’m qualified & available, and then reply asap. Assignments are often snatched up within minutes. So it requires me to open & read each message to see if everything lines up.
You can set email notification on your phone to off. How I wish I knew that YEARS ago. No point in getting yourself bent out of shape over stuff you have no control over. Realizing devises offer notifications to keep you engaged. Some might think it's helpful. It's not.
Always! We're so happy to hear it and even more grateful you're here, Robin. Let us know how it goes (and if you'd like any additional resources, let us know that, too!). 🤗
Stop looking at socials, sure. But please don’t encourage people to be uninformed about what’s going on in their community/country or the world at large. That’s an incredibly privileged outlook to have

Such a cool perspective, Mia - a second job that pays zero and takes up wayyyyyyy too much of our time. Love this share. Thank you for being here 🤗

Yeah that's my problem
well, if people dont accept this, it is not your problem

I am overly uninformed because I generally don't Care what is going on in the news.

Willfully uninformed.
