Apologies for the sound quality. It's my fault for keeping the wireless microphone on my inside layer with my winter jacket fully zipped up. I thought doing this would keep the microphone's battery relatively warm so it won't die on me during the shoot. That's why it sounds muffled. Lesson learned for next time!

Could you please display battery temperatures with obd2 dongle and Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app during next winter charging sessions? Such extreme cold conditions are very interesting for other owners. Thanks!
We have a video coming for the Ioniq 5 where we use an OBD2 dongle to read all the parameters including battery temp during a long drive and a charging session. But the ambient temp is not that cold anymore. Maybe next winter.

If you check out a recent video on the channel ‘Transport Evolved’ they discuss this topic in depth. If you’re interested in EVs they are a great resource.
From my experience, 5 inches of snow was totally doable (that's well within what my RWD BMW I3 is able to do and the Ioniq 5 has even better ground clearance). However, if you are going for better all-terrain ability, perhaps wait til our Audi Q4 Etron/VW ID4 review :P
Cabin and battery share the power from heat pump. Shut off your cabin heat while charging. This will divert your heat pump to heat your battery pack for a faster Charging speed
I wonder if people tried to close the driver's side door with the top part as well since they didn't see the spot you are supposed to grab to close the door. I know I missed this spot the first time and don't rember how I got it closed without it.

It’s a nice video, different content than all the rest. But where was the information about how it operates in Canadian winters? The sound quality is really, really bad. It’s varies between muffled and low volume to totally over modulating (loud to the point of distorted) and muffled. It was so bad I would have stopped but I was looking for the information about the Canadian winter performance which never came. Try getting a Smart mike with your phone or a wireless lavalier on your camera to take care of these sound problems. Update: I see you addressed the issue. Looking forward to more of your videos
We are planning on taking the vehicle out on a longer test drive in a few weeks. There are certainly elements of the vehicle that we have yet to cover, so let us know what you would like us to talk about next time!
Cool! I’m curious to see how the ground clearance and rear window handle deep snow in a real Canadian winter day. Also the exterior handles in a classic freeze thaw cycle and as well as the awd system on ice, deep snow etc. thanks for asking.
@@shoxboy The RWD was surprisingly good. The one I tested only had all-season on, however, it actually out-performed my RWD BMW I3 that's equipped with dedicated, albeit somewhat worn winter tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 used for 3 winters).
It was ~$20 for the 1-hour charge at the Petro Canada 350KW charging station. My Grey-2 tone interior AWD Preferred has arrived at the dealership just today and I will be making more videos of it soon!
It was surprisingly good. The RWD in Canada comes with all-weather tires which perform far better than regular all-season tires. It even out-performed my RWD BMW I3 that's equiptted with dedicated, albeit somewhat worn winter tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 used for 3 winters).
None of the dealerships in Edmonton have a Limited. All the ones I called only had the preferred RWD to look at. The dealership I went to couldn't find the keys when I was there.
We live in Atlantic Canada and I have been writing monthly reports on the EV industry for the past 6 months leading me to the decision to order an Ioniq5, but will likely not see it until 2023.
The lack of battery conditioning makes me wonder especially for the colder weather. Admit it most ev use will be local use but still if the car is capable of handling high rate of charge company should have know about cold weather effect on its batteries. Small but it is major issue unless they still have the fire risks with these cars.
To me, the apparent lack of an effective battery heater or battery preconditioning while on route to a DC Fast Charger, is a MAJOR FAILURE for cold climates like Canada. If you are trying to fast charge while on a winter trip, you will be sitting at that charger for a very long time. Hyundai's claim of 18 minutes from 10% to 80% is very impressive, BUT that is only for the summer temps here in Canada.
I hope you don't have any problems with the Hyundai. I have a 2019 Kona Electric with the battery that can catch fire. Hyunda's solution is to limit the battery to 80% charge, that's right, knock 20% off the claimed range. With no climate control, the range is 180 miles on the highway, (out of a rated 259). I haven't even tried this in the dead of winter when the heater knocks another 20-30% off the range. Hyundai claims that they have battery replacements but WILL NOT DELIVER IT! I've dealt with three Hyundai dealerships (Mirak, Bill Dube and Newport Hyundai) as well as Hyundai's CSS department and NONE of them have delivered a solutions to "Recall 200".
Well my little yellow friend that was a good video. I have a Kona and it works quite well. We do not keep it in a garage and is charged outside the house with a 240V charger. Like any car driven in the winter snow tires are a must. Useable charge drops considerably during winter.
