It seems like I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't like that game AT ALL. I had an awful time with it. But I don't think I've ever seen someone with the same opinion, everyone seems to love it. So I guess it's just safe to disregard whatever I say (as usual).
Eternal Poison is actually a pretty decent 4/5 strategy RPG (with some filler issues). No idea why it got translated over Summon Night 3 though (short of maybe text/VA quantity) since that was a prequel.
That last game you showed feels like what Dragon Force would've eventually become had it not been exiled to obscurity on the sega Saturn. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this formula brought back and improved on. The execution is a little flawed, but it has potential.
@@Caspicum well, it's like ogre battle in that there are 2 armies fighting, but i see zero pumpkin headed Deneb simps. I rate it 2 glass pumpkins out of 10.
Oh yeah, I mean Eternal Sonata is worth playing once through, as long as you go into it knowing it's a fucking absolute mess of a story. It's got like this eternal recurrence time loop twist, long drawn out death scenes, tons of plot beats that make no sense, and to top it all off there's a weird shit during the credits where all the characters just waltz in to break the 4th wall and explain to the player in detail both their entire character/arc and the themes and messaging of the story. It's kinda terrible but should be seen to be believed. Graces f also has an entire extra story chapter that takes, like, probably 10 hours to do? So it is a significantly different game but ehhh. I think the Tales series is probably just too anime for you. I'd recommend trying Berseria out of all of them, with the protags mostly being anti heroes who just want some fucking revenge. If you end up enjoying that one, Xillia and Abyss might end up working for you, but you'd probably hate Graces. Oh and the first 2/3rds of Vesperia is good until it drops everything- character arcs, subplots, themes, entire geopolitical conflicts, everything- in favor of defeating a giant space jellyfish. So I wouldn't recommend that one.
you legit just sold me on Eternal Sonata ty ty. also Vesperia seems like it's following in the footsteps of every great RPG before it, I feel like I can handle it turning off all the switches to fight (God).
At first I was like "damn, Casp is feeling himself making inside references to other videos without explanation." You know what you need to make a follow up to? The Ogre Battle vid. Maybe like a retrospective on the different ending. I don't care really, my favorite UA-camr talking about one of my favorite games gets me at half chub and I need another OB video to use as foreplay with the wife.
do you know a bout any games from ps3 or others that have similar artstyle as naruto storm 2 or boku no natsu yatsumi with 2d backrounds and 3d models for players and npcs
The gameplay (and you mentioning Summon Night) reminds of Summon Night Swordcraft Story 1 and 2. They're action rpgs on the GBA where you have random encounters in the overworld and switch to a sorta beat em up screen for the combat. You use resources from the battles and enemies to make new equipment. It's a classic hidden gem I don't think a lot of people know about so it'd be interesting hearing your thoughts on it. It also has some different dialogue during events that are different depending on your charecters gender and your summoned partner so that might give you a laugh (choose the girl).
I am still catching up on your catalog, so apologies if you have done these but. Have you reviewed the xeno series at all? I just started a replay of xc3
I haven't! I dug Xenoblade 1, but I never really played any of the others. Xenoblade 2 bored me to death, and I never picked 3 up. I don't like mechs, so I skipped Xenogears when I was younger, and I blanked on a lot of PS2 RPGs.
@@Caspicum It's a PC game; I don't believe it had a console port. It's basically your typical Dragon's Crown/Vanillaware style game but as an homage/parody to the MMO Ragnarok online. I played it when I was younger and it basically got me into that entire genre. One of the Reddit links has a google drive DL with the game in it apparently, it's been a second so MAYBE it hasn't aged well but it feels like an old age hidden gem.
I don't think you should feel bad about not putting in a huge effort on analyzing a Tales of game. Those games don't put any effort in themselves either.

I was actually excited for Battle Princess of Arcadias hoping it would be like a maybe even more fun Odin Sphere. I was wrong.
I'm glad I avoided it until now, or I think I would've had the same experience. I'm sorry for your loss.

Belt-Figthers? I've never heard that description. I always heard side scrollers but Belt-Fighters sounds cool.
Yeah, Belt Scrollers are (I think) what Japanese people call... Whatever that genre is. Beat 'em ups?
@@Caspicum Genre names are dumb anyways. I go with whatever sounds cool to say.
Belt Fighters! first ever all Dad fighting game
