PH listener and a parent of a 23 y o autistic son. It relates so much to his experiences. He attends a workshop in Cambridge called Total Arts and that really helps with his filming and his confidence. Keep up the good work.
Parenting hell listener. Loved this. Burst into tears at the end. Frustration, anger. Sadness too many emotions at once. I wish you every success in life. Xx
I too was sent here by the Parenting Hell website and really enjoyed the film, congratulations to all involved! I've worked professionally with people with autism and intellectual disabilities and thought the character of Steve was really authentic (and played beautifully by the real-life Steve). I really felt for him when he went on the interview where he was basically set up to fail, and how hard that was for him afterwards :( So interesting to read on the website as well about how many of the actors are neurodivergent, and how much of the script was improvised. I'll be recommending this film to anyone who wants a realistic portrayal of life with autism in 2025 Britain - good luck to Rick and everyone else involved with your future projects!
Another Parenting Hell listener here, so glad I found this. Utterly incredible. Moving, painful, joyful at parts and very impactful. Shot and produced amazingly.
From Parenting Hell too. This is so raw and real...as someone with ADHD, the internal and external daily struggles were so incredibly narrated in this film
I’ve also come to watch after listening to Parenting Hell. What an incredibly moving film 😢I cried at the end. I’d love to see more ❤Thankyou for reaching out to Rob in Curry’s and bringing this to al of our attention!
I first heard about this powerful short film on autism through Parenting Hell, and I'm so glad they gave the filmmaker this well-deserved exposure. The film was a poignant and an insightful look into the experiences of those on the spectrum, offering a raw, honest perspective that often gets overlooked. It really made me reflect on how we view and support individuals with autism.
Parenting hell listener here! Wonderful film with such an insight to how autistic people are often treated. I’m so glad that parenting hell was able to share this so more people are able to watch it. It was very moving. Well done and I wish you all the best for what’s to come. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Came here through a recommendation from Parenting Hell. This was a brilliant piece of cinema, I could recognise many people from my own life in the characters in this piece which is a huge credit to the actors and actresses for bringing those characters to life and making them relatable. I hope this gets the attention it deserves so you can go on to make more films in the future. Best of luck
Great film, my son has autism and this really struck home. I hope this gets a lot of views and helps educate. Hopefully help companies understand that people on the spectrum have a great potential if given the right support
Such a powerful film. Thanks Parenting Hell for leading me here. My older brother is autistic and this film captures the reality of his life and the challenges he has always faced, he is now 64. The world is a very difficult place to navigate for him, so if you can be anything please be kind
Came from parenting hell. This was so brilliantly done and brought me to tears. I felt so frustrated for Steve trying to navigate himself in a world that still has barriers for people living with autism. Very eye opening. Thank you keep up the good work!
Wow, thanks Rob/Josh for sharing this powerful film. As a SEN Mum this hits hard, the cleaner is the voice I heard loudest, speak up everyone. Thanks Rick for making this film.
Sent here from the parenting hell small business shoutout, what an amazing, insightful and thought provoking film - this needs to be on television, streaming services, everywhere ❤
Hi I've a 21 year old son with autism, this film was very powerful and so very true. Found it after listening to the podcast Parenting Hell. Brilliant. X
I am an AWA subscriber and got your film link from Paul. I watched the whole film and I related to every incident in some way.. I started crying hard because those scenes such as in the convenience store and getting confused, and how hard it is to get out of the house to go just about anywhere, the outside world being so jarring with lights, noises, people crowding, traffick, so utterly triggering, the failed job interviews, getting handcuffed and put in a state trooper car because of a traffic ticket I forgot to pay because I didn't have the money, etc etc etc and a LOT more than all that 😢 I wasn't sure if I could watch the whole movie but I wanted to try and I got to finish because I listened to the interview between you and Paul and it let me know that it wasn't a horrible tragic ending, which I am very glad, because I have had countless traumatic events over my 68 years. I think, after having watched your film, that I should think of myself as a super hero that I have survived and made it through life to this point, and I still prefer being neurodivergent/ASD. I work on myself one day at a time and I also live with my 15 year old autistic grandson who I have tried to be very supportive since he was born and my daughter and I found out he was aspie when he was 3. I finally told my daughter about myself and most of the time she is pretty accepting. So it's good to see the ending as it was, that being autistic is difficult and challenging, but we have our strong points that NT people don't. A LOT 😊 it's an ongoing journey... Thank you for making the film and everyone who made it happen. All the best from East Texas. Bless you all..
@@nee-na6874 Blessings to you from Sussex UK a fellow aspie.. thank you for being present & supportive for your grandson, what a difference that make to his whole life.. & bravo you for persevering & surviving.. thank you for saying how hard you find it to get out of the house to go just about anywhere, I am the same, & grateful to hear that you experience that too.. I've ended up with burnout & health mess, no career nor marriage nor kids, & couldn't figure out why til diagnosed aged 48 & been learning since.. as you say, it's an ongoing journey.. thank you for your sharing .. thank you for being ..& I also still prefer being ND too tho it often feels hard.
Thank you so much for watching the film and for your comment. This is the reason we made the film to reach audiences and to spread the message of how life can be with autism so I’m very glad this as responded with you! And people within the neurodiverse community much ❤
ThankU to Paul for recommending & to you both for the interview with you, & thank you all involved in making this ..& looking forward to seeing how it evolves & expands 🎉❤😊
@ the one at the store , can’t keep eye contacts, getting overwhelmed and mixed up with things so easy, not getting called back for jobs, being isolated in my room for days, 🥺 I’m happy to know I am not alone in this and there is still hope ✨✨✨ it’s gonna be okay
So much to relate to here, particularly the grating and ramping up of anxiety with the conversation in the room after a huge disappointment and the confusion and embarrassment in the corner shop. There’s so much here that could be expanded upon and I really got a sense of a Shane Meadows style movie in the making. Careful use of music, and natural, realistic dialogue. You have huge talent!
Thank god Steven wasn’t attacked (I wouldn’t have been able to cope), I’ve been moved by your excellent production as it is. I look forward to further work from you and the team.
As a parent of a recently diagnosed autistic children, and realising I'm Autistic too in my 40's this was a brilliant (sad) watch, some of us learn to mask and pretend (which is exhausting), some of us present as naïve and don't fully understand how we are perceived and are judged negatively but we aren't wierdos or sociopaths, we just think differently and deserve to be heard in society (by the police in this case). I heard about this on parenting hell!
Also came here from Parenting hell! I am so pleased this film has had more views. A mother of an autistic teenager it is a difficult watch but an important one.
Heard about this film on the @parentinghell podcast. Absolutely brilliant insight into the world of an autistic adult. I have a niece whom is an autistic adult and she has just graduated university and is looking to move to London to start her career. I’m her biggest supporter in her ambitions when sometimes the rest of the family worry (in my opinion) to much. I try to see her autism as personality trait rather than disadvantaged. She has done nothing but prove people wrong with her achievements so far and I have absolutely no doubt she will continue to do so. Amazing film keep up the work
Thank you Michael I’m glad the film connected with you - yes I feel the same about my brother Steve and this film as as you say once again has proved people wrong with his incredible performance by leading a film with no previous acting experience, life is about opportunity if it is provided people can do extraordinary things 😊
