How Airline Pilots Can Prepare For Departure In Under 25 Minutes

- Cockpit scenes filmed with approval, in partnership with Envoy Air Inc., under Part 91... Now that we've covered topics like training, initial operating experience, reserve, and an aircraft overview, let's dig into what daily operations look like. As a regional airline pilot, it's not uncommon to fly 4 or 5 short flights each day. When you arrive at an outstation you might just have 20-30 minutes to deplane, program the next departure, postflight the aircraft, re-board, and depart on-time. It's called a "turn" and regardless of where you work, you'll be flying turns all the time!
While this video covers how we, as pilots, prepare the cockpit, there are so many people working simultaneously to get the airplane ready. I want to give credit to the awesome flight attendants, dispatchers, gate agents, ramp agents, caterers, cleaners, fuelers, and maintenance staff that we work with each day. It's amazing how we can turn airplanes in 20-30 minutes when everyone works as a team.

As I stated in your other posts, you are an excellent spokesman for your airline. Management must know this. I can see you being an instructor in no time.
Awesome job showcasing what its like to be an airline pilot!
I'm a gate agent at an out-station that gets Envoy E145s. It's cool to see the pilot's side of the process, since for us the quick turn is pretty much everything.
I wish I would've known more about topics just like this before I began flying as an airline pilot. That's the goal of this whole series!... To show you specific, interesting aspects of this career that you'll face as a new pilot. What else do you want to know? Give me ideas for the next videos in the comments below and thanks for watching!
I hope Envoy understands what a powerful recruiting tool Swayne’s videos are. I’m a CFI building time currently, and I’ve already looked at Envoy a bit. Swayne gives an incredible real world experience and personality to being a first officer for what appears to be a super solid regional. Thank you Swayne and safe flying
It made me smile to hear you mention those of us in the ENY dispatch department. Thank you very much.
Swayne, this is one of the most informative aviation videos I've seen on UA-cam. You did a great job packing a lot of information into a few minutes.
That was awesome man, thanks for uploading it. All really well explained. Stay safe 👍
You taught me a lot of facts that I never even knew of. Thank you for these videos, I know you put a lot of effort into them.
I’m a fueler right now but I hope to be where you are one day. I always see you guys out during your walk around. Thanks for taking the time to explain a little more about what you’re doing.
Great video Swayne! Always looking forward to new content you're posting. Safe flying!
I'm a fueler at BDL in CT. Some of the turn times company planes have is crazy! Sometimes I will literally pull on the gate just as the plane gets there, take about 6 or 7 minutes to fuel it, then I'll see the plane ready for departure by the time I'm guided off the plane. PSA loves doing that. The only Envoy we get at BDL are the 175's. Every now and then we will get an Envoy 135/140 that diverts from LGA or something.
I was hoping that Purdue would have utilized your skills at the open house/ air show last month, but hopefully Envoy will share you with us next year! Excellent work!
Agree with previous comments. The quality of these videos is off the charts! Very informative and education. Keep ‘em up Swayne!
Love these videos keep up the good work Swayne
When I grow up, I want to be a pilot. You inspire me even more when I watch your videos. Thank you Swayne!
