      @@Ward413 That is a valid assumption but he says that it doesn't have the serrations flat out, and the serrations in PS look more realistic and better in a video without compression, having played PS and held a 1911 from the time period.

    • @zagorith14
      @zagorith14 5 років тому +6

      @@Ward413 The serrations aren't that shallow though. It just appears this way due to the color of the gun, the lighting against the gun, and the positioning of the gun in the characters hand. It's just hard to tell but they're there. If you look at a WW2 era Colt M1911, you can clearly see that the serrations are slightly angled to the forward which gives it a look (when looking at it from the opposite directions that the serrations are pointed) like they are shallow. The PS 1911 is more realistic. The HLL one appears to be missing these forward serrations that PS has and has just standard straight serrations.

    • @stupidrainbo
      @stupidrainbo 5 років тому +9

      From a technical standpoint -- HLL sounds are too highly compressed (think of that like overusing an HDR effect in a photo) and also chopping off the high end too much (the 'crispy' end of the spectrum). The PS sounds are way WAAAY better technically for just those two reasons alone.
      I should mention two other games (that I know of) with ridiculously good sound: Escape from Tarkov and The Long Dark.

    You don't need to buy a server to run specific maps. Go into the training map and hit ~ and type in adminchangemap and you'll automatically get a full list of the maps you can change to.
    Also the 1911 does have serations.
    And personally, HLL has some nice firing sounds but the reload are generic as hell. Overall I would say PS has better sounds(for vehicles too).

    The 1911 back textures on PS are definitly more detailed.
    There are also clowd shadows in the PS footage you use.

  • @sabot8075
    @sabot8075 5 років тому +2

    Post Scriptum gun reports sound much more like the real deal, hell let loose's garand doesn't quite capture the low end thump of the 30-06, nor the low end pop of a .45. Never fired an mp40 nor a kar98 but the sounds in hell let loose have to much space for reproducing the feel of being directly behind the barrel, perhaps the samples they used were recorded from a microphone of lesser quality or a smaller diaphragm.
    Never used a pineapple grenade, maybe the smoke pattern would starfish like they do in PS(doubt it). The ones I've thrown and seen thrown certainly made a rounder pattern like HLL. Unless it's made out of magnesium, which it isn't, you cant really see the shrapnel only the impact of it kicking dust and dirt. Again PS takes the cake on sounds and effects with grenades as an exception.
    One caveat... the frag grenade smoke itself may not starfish like in PS, but the size of the initial blast, after effects are much more realistic and higher quality in PS so it's still wins in my opinion

    fun fact about the International Harvester M1s... made in my home town in a factory previously used to make P47s (then later used to make refrigerators until production was moved elsewhere)
    as far as sound... somewhere in the middle you'll find a happy medium... the sounds in hell let loose have been made more movie like while the sounds in post scriptum have a more realistic sound... obviously if you want absolute realism you'd need one hell of a sound system pushing hearing damage sound levels
    also the ping is not something you hear... unless the clip hits a hard floor then you hear that ping but the clip leaving the rifle isn't loud enough to be clearly heard over other much louder noises the rifle makes... the exclusion of the clip leaving the rifle in the animations though is a pretty significant omission

Post Scriptum suffers from the same, unacceptably blurry imaging at a distance that Squad does (even with TAA 'fixes' through .ini edits). It's a shame too, because if you didn't feel like you needed to constantly strain your eyes all the time just to see, then both of those titles would be great. There's actually some historical and or sizing details that both games kinda miss.
    In Post Scriptum, soldiers hold their sidearms in a two-handed teacup stance, which is wrong, since sidearm handling in both World Wars, and for a good millennia beforehand, was done one-handed.
    Also, the Kar98k rifles in Post Scriptum seem to be all older generation types, for they don't include the front hooded sight (This isn't exactly a horrible sin,but..) Kar98s with front hooded sights appeared around midwar( late '42-'43), and Post Scriptum takes place in Op. Market Garden, which is in the September of '44.
    In Hell Let Loose, the tank models, especially the Sherman, are way too short.
    And in the Foy map, the U.S Forces and the Wehrmacht don't seem to be wearing Winter uniforms and gear, but since the game is in early access, I'll let it slide for now.

    To say how you talk about the smaller map size of Hell Let Loose 'contributing to the gameplay', there's still an issue to that...I'd say it's the gravity of being killed or having your squad wiped. In Post Scriptum, dying or having your team wiped out holds gravity and urgency over you, as that's a 30-60 second wait to respawn all the way back at the home base or the nearest FOB/MSP and a trek all the way back to the front in order to keep fighting. You're urged not to die and not play the game like you're rambo because it takes a mentality of either work together/work clever or die alone. It also puts an emphasis on logistics chains and vehicles, as a troop-truck/halftrack/Bren Carrier driver can be one of the best friends of the entire team due to how they cut that 3-4 minute refractory period to get back into the action down to thirty seconds or less.
    Hell Let Loose, on the other hand, has literally no variety of risk or gravity held over your head for dying. You can build respawn zones so impeccably close to the point or find said spawns with little to no effort, and due to the incredibly short spawn times and how close you can spawn as well, you don't really feel...Motivated to avoid dying, neither does your squad. It just becomes a process of 'Spawn, rush the enemy, chuck grenades and spray at them, get as many kills as you can, die, respawn, repeat'. There's no reason to play tactical or try to avoid getting shot when the consequences are next to none.
    Post Scriptum has larger maps because that's how battles happened. Even the smallest town or hamlet had the surrounding countryside and farms as routes of firefights between both sides, and tanks often engaged from extreme ranges with close-quarters brawling commonly being reserved for towns, cities, or fortifications.
    Post Scriptum is a game built for people who enjoy actions having consequences and victory being decided by the cohesion and overall combat prowess of an entire team.
    Hell Let Loose is a game built for people that enjoy having hitscan weapons and all the tension of a firefight being immediately drained out because they can just respawn thirty feet away every ten seconds or so and shoot whoever shot them in the back.

      It's always there, this guy has no fucking clue at all... it's only disabled on testing map and when on main base which most servers disable projectiles so that ppl don't start killing each other at spawn on main base neither stay camping and shooting there, it disables the M1 garand pling sound...
      Online outside main base it works 100% of the times and the clip also ejects.
      PS: I bet this guy didnt even play Post Scriptum at all and says misleading BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

      guily6669 chill dude he compares a ton of games so he can’t pour 100 hours into each game. No need to go apeshit over a game tester making a simple mistake

      @@ExHyperion I mean...you said it yourself. He compares games, so perhaps he should do it correctly, otherwise what's the point? Some other people pointed out he also didn't notice Post Scriptum also has cloud shadows and the M1911's serrated texture, which we can all see in the video. He should have made his research, otherwise these videos are misleading and the comparison is thus useless.

      Oconnell it’s easy to miss things like “ m1 garand not pinging inside a main base” especially when he has e3 2019 coming up and he has to do like another 10 comparison videos for all the trailers that are coming out. You people need to chill and accept that people can make mistakes. Unless you want to play every game on the market and compare all of them for us on UA-cam and still make no mistakes then let’s cut the man some slack.

      @@ExHyperion over half of what he said about PS was wrong. That's not "making a mistake" that's making a misleading video based on inaccurate information.

    The iconic Ping in Post Scriptum is very much there when firing the last bullet for the player when you are alone

    Hell let Lose: More bass

    I prefer Hell Let Loose over Post Scriptum. Why?
    It's certainly not that PS is a bad game, it's not, it's that the gameplay of HLL seems more immersive and gets you into the combat quicker, yeah it's not as "realistic" but it offers a good realism feeling with a good amount of action at the same time and it makes the game so much more fun than tedious.

    I hope you know the ping sound from the Garand doesn't always happen as it flies out, the ping comes from it striking a hard surface like a helmet or concrete so Post Scriptum has excellently adhered to real life. The ping sound it does make upon ejection is usually muffled by the round going off so it is rarely heard unless you eject the clip manually.
