An Epic Theatre of War

Unique Meta Game
Manage resources and supplies to call in support, bombing runs, new vehicles, strafing runs and to reinforce strong-points or flank enemies. When a sector is captured, it will generate one of three resources for your team, creating a complex game that will influence your team’s march to victory. Strategy is key to success.

@@bobdole8830 The addition of a Skirmish mode will likely help it to be more recommendable. For me, I usually wait out the first 5-10 minutes of a round because I don't want to do nothing but walk, but the Skirmish mode will be more combat-focused on a smaller scale map, which should be a good place to start for new players.
@@Eniiqz that is EXACTLY the audience this game isn't for and that will spoil it for everyone. If you cannot stand the "walking" this game might not be the right choice. Already too many people that camp in the middle of nowhere to farm a good KDR not contributing to the game. The most important players usually are the ones doing the most dying.
@@bobdole8830 While the game certainly isn't CoD or anything, I think it's understandable that sometimes people may just want 30min-1hour of good solid combat. At least the mode will help new players learn the game mechanics and allow them to enjoy the best parts of the game before playing the larger-scale game modes. I would rather all of the KDR campers to do it in a small-scale mode than in a large-scale mode. When I'm in the game, I focus on the objective and nothing else, but I really don't see the merit for most players to walk for 10 minutes straight versus just waiting for an OP/garry to show up. Remember, not everyone really has all the time in the world to play games, some people just want the crisp gunplay and some objective to look towards. Different strokes for different folks but I at least think players should be given an option
@@Eniiqz If you want that there's plenty of games to fill that need. In my opinion such game modes will just attract those people that play like that, and I doubt they will change. If your idea of a good time is getting a bunch of kills and running around solo, that is perfectly fine, but there are plenty of games doing that. This game is about strategy, immersion, communication and ultimately following orders, not everyone enjoys that, and that is also fine. But my widening the appeal of the game to a more mainstream audience I'm afraid you'll lose a lot of what makes this game unique.

@@doberton I used to play PS before buying HLL, abandoned it because the lack of players and moved to HLL and now I like it much more. PS is more realistic but definitely less immersive, with worse maps and less designed scenarios (Market Garden maps are literally squares with bushes around them) and less animations. If a game doesn't make me believe i'm into it I end up getting bored. I have enjoyed PS (now S44) pretty much but once I tried this... I simply couldn't return.

Tbh its not a terrible game, i personally just dont want to search up guides or tips to play a game. Theres a massive learning curve to this game and i hate it so much. I've had people tell me "just stick with it, communicate with teamates, etc", this game is terrible to play with strangers, most if not all have mics disabled and who wants to deal with some loser screaming down his mic because you didnt spot the pixel of an enemy 300 miles away in 0.2 seconds?
Its painfully slow, try to be tactical and it doesn't matter cause you'll get domed from a camper hiding in the most obscure spot.
I dont like the whole "Yeah you're gonna die a lot when you start this game!" Tagline, why tf do I want to play a game that's gonna kill me over and over? Especially if the kill is out of my control?? You could do everything right, follow commands, communicate with teams, and it doesn't matter cause how can you call out an enemy you can't see that can one shot you?
If you're not a fan of slow, tactical based, team communicative war games, give this a miss, you'll play it for a few hours, get annoyed and delete it, save your money.

Can’t say I’ve had one decent game, had to run the entire length of the map because of zero spawn point’s laid down, only to be killed as I got closer. Can’t even get close to team to communicate. Very few directives given by commanders. Also as soon as you enter a squad with experience they just kick as soon as they see your inexperienced. I’ll keep trying but not holding my breath.

@@pierce99 I tried again yesterday, exactly the same result. I’ve gone back to DMZ. Nice n safe on top of the airport tower! Really disappointed as the UA-cam vids made it look brilliant! Good luck with it . I hope you at least make it to the objective once!
Try changing your approach my first day was brutal on trying to remove the COD/BF attitude and really remember I’m a tool to the team and not a war machine.

Here are some things I’d love to see come in the game to complete the factions we already have!
German weapons & equipment I wanna see are c96, mp34, mg15, panzerbuchse39 and panzerfaust! (gewehr 41 as a bonus from Squad44 for variety and to replace g43 on early war maps)
Soviet weapons i wanna see are PPS-43 and AVS-36 (15 round semi/auto rifle) and maybe fedorov avtomat (25 round semi/auto) if we ever get the winter war map from old roadmap!
American weapons I wanna see are m1917 revolver!
Tripod deployable mg nests! (Germans mg42, Americans M2 50cal, British vickers, and Soviets the DS-39 or DShK for each factions mg nests respectively)
I know we are getting gammon bomb but would also love to see new AT grenades in new AT loadouts or new Engineer loadouts or replace Assault lvl 9 satchels with AT grenades! (m24 grenade bundle for Germans, rpg6 grenade for Soviets, and No. 74 sticky bomb for British and possibly Americans too or maybe AT rifle grenades for Americans (maybe Germans too) since it doesn’t seem like they used British stickys, AT grenades would serve as a way to destroy supply trucks, garrys, resource nodes, ops and disable light/medium tank tracks occasionally killing them if they are weak enough obviously, basically something to fight back a little until AT arrives)
Three man mortar squads (2 max) are something else I wanna see but they will have to rework whole artillery system! (artillery should be commander call in alongside mortars or these new arty squads should be able to tow versions of guns we have now from spawn to places on map alongside having mortars, obviously if guns are towable they should have maybe quarter to half map range and mortars even less)
More engineer class buildable defenses would always be welcome maybe even faction exclusive buildables that’s something the old developers wanted to add and I’d still love to see!
More commander abilities especially faction exclusive ones is something I want in the game badly! (imagine a messerschmitt 262 jet for the Germans on later war maps)
Flares to light up the night maps!
Bayonets for some classes that can be taken on and off your weapon and affect weapon handling but allow for faster melees!
Lastly personally I’d like to see the removal of the regular danger pinging, still allowing the specified pings for SL and Commander and maybe some for infantry but I’d be down to have infantry/crewman pings removed entirely!
I always thought it would be cool if you could build a tower with a tank head at the top, it would make AT badass and give some more stuff to throw fuel at. I also thought that the german satchel should be replaced with their magnetic mine (sorry I forgot the name of it) and if infantry was lvl 9 or 10 they could have AT grenades to make the basic infantry more important.
Thanks! I might consider buying the game again as I play for about 20 minutes but did not commence in any combat, i then refunded it thinking it was boring but you made me rethink it!
All I've ever wanted from a Game since Medal of Honor on the original PlayStation
I found that Hell Let Loose provided a fantastic and compelling setting but being participating with a clan clearly showed to me that the games ran in well worn grooves, and that certain "plays" were well known. This spoiled the experience for me.
I love these realistic shooters more than anything else. BUT - if you want a very good milsim game and you have a pc.... SQUAD is a great option and ive been loving the immersion. Hell Let Loose for me is a close second to SQUAD

A lot of games can feel very laggy or choppy but don’t worry, there are smooth games you just have to hop around a few servers and find a couple that run well for you and favorite them, even if it’s not in your regions.

Yeah if you play on PC, just know that not all servers are super smooth performance wise, but don't be discouraged, there's definitely great servers where you can play the game smoothly. There's also some direct x12 fix that kinda helps in Steam settings, just google it. Just gotta fiddle around a bit and favorite some servers and utilize servers with the best ping, though sometimes servers on the opposite coast might run better. It's kind of all over the place XD. Be careful of the addiction, long matches, don't forget to eat lunch and dinner! hah@@danielm978
These games are not as fun as youtubers and streamers make it seem. They post the highlight reels and make it seem like awesome game action.
90% of the time you are running around doing nothing and getting killed by someone you didn't even see. Great for realism, not so great for fun.
Only downside is people will team kill you periodically and message you then get you banned on party chat. Watch out for that.
Ima be real with yall.. at first i hated the ttk and how ya couldn’t see anything.. without ofc lookin at the smallest details.. you literally have to play this game as if its real life. Once i started playing like that my gameplay has skyrocketed and ive only been playing for about a week

I play on Xbox and I’ll say I’m very new as I’ve been playing about a month now,
Pros: great intense gameplay when you do get into a fight
Gritty quintessential war game
Pleasant community
Great mixture of maps, objectives
Cons:
Running all the time with not a lot of action
Deployment times are ridiculous
Be prepared to not even see where you were shot from and get domed
Overall 7.5 out of 10 for me

Downloaded it tonight, played a few hours on Xbox. Unfortunately my experience was running across a massive map, not seeing anyone then getting dropped from apparently nowhere, rinse and repeat. Also had multiple matches where intentional team killing was just absolutely constant for no reason that i could tell
I recommend sticking to your squad mates starting off and communicating is key to knowing where enemies are at. Good luck
Make sure you’re spawning as close to the action as possible. Stay in cover and keep an eye out for enemies. Use r1 or rb to zoom in while aiming in and staying still
this was my impression a year ago until i realized i wasn’t picking the correct spawn points. spawn points in this game are extremely unique in that the officers and commander place the spawn points for your team.
if the enemy destroys those, you’re fucked and have to spawn miles away from the action.
best advice is to pick a squad that has an officer that is actually placing garrisons and outposts - those are the lifeblood of the game.
hope you don’t give up on it, i didn’t get it and hated it for a week. decided to give it one last chance and it clicked.

HLL is more "arcadey" I would say. If you want better realism and better communication I would go for Squad 44
Squad 44 was called Post Scriptum before and it was dead for like a year because the devs got fired. Now that OWI bought Post Scriptum they changed the name to Squad 44 and the playercount skyrocketet.
Hell Let Loose has much better graphics and smoother game play. Best FPS I ever played.

It’s the most shit game ever played. I never get the chance to choose sniper. No one ever accept me in their team when you can choose the soldier. Everywhere I go I get headshoted. I played 5 hour 2 kills only. Really frustrated me :(

Does anyone have any thoughts about HLL vs Squad? To my knowledge, it's the same game, but one is modern and one is ww2.
A better comparison would be HLL vs Squad 44, since Squad 44 (previously called Post Scriptum) is just squad but set in world war 2. They're very different games tbh. Squad 44 and Squad go for much more realism, with better sounds and visual FX, while feeling a bit more clunky when moving around and firing, similar to the ARMA series. Hell Let Loose is like a mix between Squad 44 and Battlefield, it puts much more focus on cinematic, fast(er) paced action, sort of like a hardcore battlefield V.
Both games are good, but which one you prefer totally depends on what you're looking for. Strictly realism? Go Squad / Squad 44. Lighter realism but still with hardcore bullet damage where one shot can kill? Hell Let Loose. Ultimately? Both! :)
Is it even worth it on Xbox though I've heard ever since the game came to game pass it's littered with cod try hards and it ruined the game

Based on the comments I've seen and the things I've heard since they released the game on Gamepass, I would say not. It's bad enough during a steam sale when the game is flooded with people who don't understand what the game is, but now that it's on gamepass that stream of noobs will never end and every game will be filled with "no-mic Nancies". You can teach a newb, but a noob is a lost cause :P

Answer no.. never played this game watched videos thought it was cool. After buying i immediately realized there are only 50 servers available to play if that. 10 of which will be ok ping by ok i mean less than 100. And 8 of those will be level 50 restricted by wichever admin made the server. Legit played this game for a solid hour now and ive yet to even load into a game because i cant find one. Please if you dont have experience with this game like me save your money the community clearly only wants veteran players here

Most likely yes I play on my Xbox series x which is basically the equivalent and it runs well and not laggy for the most part, sometimes there might be a little frame drop every 30 minutes but it’s okay

As of right now as a level 60 it's impossible to play especially with it on game pass with all the noobs joining with only a handful out of those having mic and another fraction of them actually listing it's impossible unless you have the higher levels as command and squad leads and even then it's a stretch

I want to like this game so much, but it’s hard. Your experience 100% relies on the squad you’re in.
It’s becoming commonplace to not have mics, not coordinate with your squad etc. With your Officer giving orders (that he got from his Commander), squad following those orders, you can really feel awesome.
Otherwise it’s just a lonely slog.
I would overall not recommend it because the developers CAN incentivize more communication and teamwork, but they DONT.
If you notice your have a mute squad or officer, just leave to another squad. Not that hard, but also see what level rank your squad mates are, that usually tells me whether its going to be a good game or not.
@@realeyesrealizerealies every squad is the same lol. So then I join a different server and it’s the same experience there. Idk if it’s the console people or what. Either way, it’s not like it was back when the game first came out.

@@ConciseCabbage I hear you man, it can be frustrating when you come across it all the time. I do the same, change servers or stay and make my own or just wait it out. Usually between all the favorite servers I have, I usually find me a good one. Stick with known clan servers, I suppose. I go to GLOW and [OP] in the east, PC.

Just got the game, have played for 4 hours, I see to much camping, I admit at my age, (66) I suck, lol playing this game. Should have a server strictly for noobs like myself.
Squad 44 audio is 1000x better

For me personally HLL is not my cup of tea. Every server, team, squad that I join the people are just quiet and not cooperative.. I tried changing servers and nothing helped. It just feels like chaotic COD lobby. Sure there is a game from time to time where people work as a team but in my experience it is very rare.
I personally prefer Post Scriptum/Squad 44. I join a server and most of the time people communicate and help you a lot if you are new to the game. I also like it more because it doesn't feel like an arcade game.
I would love to play HLL if the community was like in PS
Spain has 3 servers and we communicate in all of them, also in the ENG servers I have found squads that don't talk so I simply start breaking the ice myself and always end up cooperating, my english level allows me to communicate with no problems. It happened that I joined a squad in which even SL wasn't talking at all, in those cases I switch server or join another squad. As an advice, try to avoid "New players welcome" servers, they are the most arcade and chaotic ones (as they are supposed to be). Join 82AD, Easy Company, etc...
@@marcosvarela5603 I played a lot on 82AD it's definetly better with communication on that server but it's not consistent. I only get like 2 good games out of 10 where people actually communicate.
I guess it's the marking system that is the problem in HLL. People just ping stuff and all they say is "enemy on my ping" and then get killed by running through an open field.
@@aj.-3737 Hahaha that classic "enemy on my ping". But yes, we can define the community as "less serious" than PS and there are less possibilities that you find a good squad. But when you do it, I enjoy it more than I did in PS. Hope this gets better but unfortunately I don't think so.

@@lynchmobb119 Just based on the comments I get in there's a lot of deliberate team killing and trolling, and since there's no private server hosting on consoles yet, communities can't ban players themselves. I've never played it on console personally though so I'm just going by what people tell me on here.
Hell let loose was a good game until it was released on console. With the console release the performance has greatly suffered. Also the quality of the community. Most games are one team knowing everything. The other getting steam rolled. Rarely do you get coordination from randoms. You have to be in a clan or guild to get that kind of team work.
Dont let this chuckle head fool you. This is not a casual shooter game. They wanted it to be a tactical game. The framework is there. But much like squad, the gameplay is too tactical and reliant on other team members to make the game function.
I.e. battlefield is casual. You eo not need to talk to anyone on the team in order to win a match. As long as everyone is kinda component at their respected roles.
Squad, Squad 44, and Hell let loose are tactical games whos hardcore nerd fandom has killed alot of the normal casual players cause surprise surprise people older then 20 years old didnt want a whole match of a 13 year old squad leader screeching and babbling into the mic. And relying on said idiot to relay commands to the squad is becoming impossible. Then you have to build up supplies.. you uave to assign squad to run around for 30 minutes building nodes. And if your team doesnt do that. Your boned. No supplies no garrisons nothing. And how do you balance that? Ive been in servers all day where on side never won once. One team was fun of experienced clan people and the other randoms and just got demolished every round.
These "games" are now trying to appeal to casual players by trying to dumb down the game but you cant really dumb down and casualize a tactical game you just make it a crappier tactical game. Which is what is now. Stuck between the older development team which had a tactical shooter in mind. Where as now, the developers just want to want money off of casuals and hardcore fans with cosmetics and goofy store stuff.

If you are wondering if is it worth downloading from gamepass the short answer is no ...... speaking from console point of view ... you will spawn spend 15 minutes running just to die because of a guy camping who think his life on the line 💀 the majority of the game feels boring and the aim on console is trash if you really want experience a ww2 feeling then download battlefield V
To be fair though, everything on console is trash :P Upgrade to a PC and experience a whole new level of gaming!
Not really insurgency sandstorm sets the same realistic environment of this game but they execute it better on console .... dayz is also good on console there is just something off about this game and yeah pc gaming is new different experience but not for everyone especially for people who don't like to use mnk or face cheaters regularly

@@BOS_PML74_GAMINGthere is a learning curve to it. Also; it’s not as fast paced autism like call of duty or BF. This game is for a more authentic, team based experience. Woth a lot of fun coming from getting to know people in the community and havin a blast on the voip chat

I watch a ton of videos on 44 and I just can’t get behind it, I thoroughly enjoy HLL, even if it’s not as “sim” as 44 or Squad.
I bought squad 44 after playing HLL for 2 years. I gave it a week and I ended up refunding it.
Graphics are shit, it's clunky, and just not as immersive.
@@alexhtx8932 it doesn’t look near as good as HLL, but people will tell you it does and it’s better cause you can drink out of a canteen or some shit, which supposedly makes it better
